Any entries received without payment or missing paperwork will be charged $25.00 late fee. You may enter this event online at FORMAT: AVA rules apply. All participating vaulters, longeurs, and coaches must be AVA members in good standing by the close of entries, April 18, 2018 or a Non Member form and fee will have to be submitted at club check in prior to competition. Signature of a coach registered with the club is required on page 2. Vaulters not in compliance with current AVA requirements will forfeit any awards. NOTE all barrel classes will be performed on a barrel with Square handles. AVA Membership is required to compete. You must be a registered member prior to close of entries or pay the $25. Non member fee, enclose check and form with entries. RELEASE FORMS: Each vaulter, coach, owner, groom, or longeurs must sign the Lompoc Vaulters release form. A $50 fee will be charged for all unclean stalls. ARENAS: All competition and warm up arenas exceed 75' diameter. Footing is Base and Sand. Arena is uncovered. MUSIC: Music will be computerized. A separate instruction sheet will be attached. We recommend you bring back up flash drive of your music. You can make a new freestyle or use the one you already have. Scoring will be as follows Music Interpretation x2, Performance x1, and content/composition x1. Vaulters will be divided into two levels. Prelim Trot (and below) and Trot /Canter. Awards for this class will be based on entries 1-3 will receive a prize, all other will receive ribbons. 7 AVA REGION I RULES FOR VAULTING DATE OF REVISION 4/15/2017 Introductions The following rules and guidelines are set up to allow vaulters of all levels and abilities to compete in a constructive manner at all AVA REGION I Competitions. The Region I Specially Titled classes such as novice, advanced and modified are to help encourage new vaulters to be a part of Regional Competitions and these rules. These rules and guidelines are not endorsed by the American Vaulting Association but do follow AVA rule guidelines as closely as possible, as they are designed to help vaulters graduate into AVA vaulting levels along with National and International Competitions. If any club wishes to host an AVA recognized competition, they may do so by contacting the AVA and must do so in strict accordance with AVA rules as presented in the AVA Rule Book. The REGION I rules and guidelines are the standard that has been used in computing Year End High-Point Awards presented by the Region. The competition year begins January 1 and goes through December 31. Section 1 Recognized Competitions, Levels and Events 7
8 AVA and Region 1 Recognized Competitions All AVA Region 1 recognized competitions are held according to AVA and USEF Rules Except where AVA Region 1 Rules apply. For AVA and USEF recognized competition see those rule books. Responsibility of the hosting club. a. Submit application and $50. fee to AVA Region 1 board by August 15th the year prior to the competition. b. Invite all AVA Registered Clubs within Region1. c. Collect the $3.00 per vaulter AVA Region 1 fee and mail to the AVA Region 1 Treasurer within 10 days of close of competition. After 10 days, a $25.00 late fee will be assessed. Region 1 Recognized Competition May Consist of the following Ava Recognized Individual, Pas de Deus and Team Levels and Event. a. Individual Gold (as per AVA) b. Individual Silver (as per AVA) c. Individual Bronze (as per AVA) d. Individual Copper (as per AVA) e. Individual Trot (as per AVA) f. Individual Preliminary Trot (per AVA Region 1 rules) g. One alternate is allowed Vaulters must compete at the canter level throughout the competition b. Compulsories as for B Team in AVA Rules c. 4 Minute Freestyle may be performed at the walk or canter, to the left. Vaulters must be assisted onto the horse if performed at the walk or team will be disqualified. If a booster is needed for walk mounts they are allowed, but must enter and exit with the team. 2 points will be deducted from final score for this Freestyle if performed at the walk. d. Same 3 to 6 vaulters must compete in Compulsory and Freestyle sections. (Alternate performs compulsories only.) 2. Modified C Team Event a. A Team consists of 3 to 6 Vaulters who may have canter medals. One alternate is allowed. b. Vaulters must compete at the canter level throughout the competition. c. Compulsories per C Team in AVA Rules. d. 4 Minute Freestyle section may be performed at the walk or canter, to the left. Vaulters must be assisted onto the horse if performed at the walk, or the team will be disqualified. If a booster is needed for walk mounts they are allowed, but must enter and exit the arena with the team. 2 points will be deducted from the final score if the Freestyle is performed at the walk. e. Same 3 to 6 vaulters must compete in Compulsory and Freestyle sections. Alternate performs compulsories only. 3. Modified Trot Team Event a. Team consists of 3 to 6 vaulters. Any combination of Trot levels. One alternate is allowed. b. Vaulters must compete at the trot level throughout the competition. c. Compulsories per Trot Team in AVA Rules. d. 4 Minute Freestyle section may be performed at the walk or trot to the left. Vaulters must be assisted onto the horse if performed at the walk, or the team will be disqualified. If a booster is needed for walk mounts they are allowed, but must enter and exit the arena with the team. 2 points will be deducted from the final score if the Freestyle is performed at the walk. e. The same 3 to 6 vaulters must compete in Compulsory and Freestyle sections. Alternate performs compulsories only. Preliminary Pairs Any two vaulters that do not hold a Bronze, Silver or Gold Metal c. Trot Any two vaulters competing at Trot or below. d. Novice Any two Novice Vaulters 2. Special Pairs (Class time is 2 Minutes) a. One Handicapped/Special needs vaulter and one non-handicapped vaulter of any level. C. Individual Events 1. All Novice Classes a. Vaulters may not hold AVA Medals b. Vaulters may not compete in any other events of a higher level during the competition with the exception of Barrel Pairs. c. Vaulters must have assisted mounts on the horse and barrel. A score of Zero will be given for the mount. d. Horse events consist of one round of compulsories and a 1 minute Freestyle with the horse moving to the left. e. Barrel events consist of one round of Compulsories and a 1 minute Freestyle with the Barrel facing to the left. f. For Horse and Barrel events Freestyle moves are limited to levels E and/or M exercises. Except for Novice Walk which is limited to level E moves only. (see FEI code of points) g. All Novice and Preliminary Trot dismounts MUST be from the following list or a 1 point deduction will be taken from the Content score. i. Simple Vault Off (Leg over neck to inside or outside) ii. V-Sit off (Any Direction) Landing facing forward iii. Slide off out of inside or outside press landing facing forward iv. Sliding off any seated, kneeling or lying exercise landing facing forward v. Any other Level E dismount that lands facing forward. 2. Novice Modified Walk a. The following compulsories performed to the left i. Basic Seat ii. Flag iii. Free Kneel b. Spotters are allowed without any deductions for assistance. 3. Novice Walk c. Spotters allowed without deduction for assistance. 4. Novice Advanced Walk d. Spotters may be present but the following deductions will be taken for assistance. i. In Compulsories and the barrel and the horse any exercise performed with assistance will receive a 2-point deduction from performance. ii. In Freestyle a 2-point deduction will be taken from the content score. 5. Novice Trot 10

In Compulsories and the barrel any exercise performed with assistance will receive a 2-point deduction from performance. ii. In Freestyle a 2-point deduction will be taken from the content score. 6. Preliminary Trot follows the AVA Trot Class rules with the following exception f. Vaulter my received an assisted mount on the horse and barrel. Mount score will be zero if assistance is given in Compulsories and a 2-point deduction from the performance score in freestyle. 7. All Adult Classes g. Vaulters must be 21 years of age or older h. Assisted mounts required at the walk, allowed at trot and canter. i. Mount is not scored j. All compulsories are 1* performed at all levels to the left. k. 1 minute freestyle performed to the left at all levels 8. Masters Class l. Vaulters holding any canter medal. m. 2* Compulsories performed at the canter to the left. n. 1 minute freestyle performed at canter to the left. o. Freestyle scored the same as AVA Bronze Level p. Assisted mount and/or dismount at the walk without penalty, however timing begins when vaulter touches the handles. A. Yearend High Point Awards Section III Awards The REGION I Annual High Point Awards are based on the Recognized Regional 1 Competitions and National Championships. The high point season starts Jan 1 to Dec 31. High Point Scores are determined by averaging each Individual s top three over all horse event scores. A vaulter must compete in the same class in a minimum of three competitions in the season to be eligible for a High Point Awards in that class. High Point Awards will be given to the highest scoring Male and Female in all Individual levels except Novice Modified Walk. If a vaulter moves up a level he or she is eligible for awards at the new level using scores earned at the lower level earlier in the year, except for vaulters who advanced in Levels from Trot to Canter or Novice to Trot within the year. B. RECOGNIZED COMPETITION AWARDS Awards for all Individual Events at a Recognized Competition are to be separated into male and female classifications. All Novice entrants must receive placing ribbons. 11
