2 INTRODUCTION Valerie Haig-Brown is the eldest child of the noted Britis h Columbia author and conservationist Roderick Haig-Brown ( ) whose papers are held by Special Collections. She worked as a n editor for several popular magazines in Toronto before returning t o British Columbia in 1978 to act as her father's literary executor. The papers in this collection mainly concern the posthumou s publication of Roderick Haig-Brown's writings including several o f his manuscripts.

7 Part III - File List Scope and Content: This accession contains correspondence, manuscript, subject, and clippings files that almost exclusively relate to Valerie Haig-Brown s work as literary executor of the estate of her father, Roderick Haig-Brown. Immediate source of acquisition: Donated by Valerie Haig-Brown, Arrangement: The material was in considerable disarray on arrival. Other than the correspondence and a few subject files, most of the material was not in file folders and exhibited no pre-determined arrangement. File structure was retained for the correspondence files only; for other files, subject of the material was the determinant of arrangement. Accruals: Further accruals are expected. Series descriptions 1. Correspondence series items This series is largely comprised of correspondence pertaining to the publication of Roderick Haig-Brown s works edited by Valerie Haig-Brown. As well, the series contains correspondence with individuals and organizations associated with the recreational flyfishing industry in Canada and the United States. 2. Manuscripts series items This series is comprised of materials pertaining to the publication of Roderick Haig-Brown s works edited by Valerie Haig-Brown, including notes, illustrations, and proofs from publishers. 3. Subject files series items This series is comprised of items relating to a very wide range of topics, mostly of a literary nature. Of note is the file relating to Jeffrey Norton s compilation of a bibliography of Roderick Haig-Brown s works. 6
