1 TUC LIBRARY COLLECTIONS Records of the London Bookbinders and Paperworkers This collection was presented to the TUC on December 14, 1979 by Mr Terry Gobey of SOGAT London Division as they were removing from their premises at 42 Doughty Street on that date. The collection consists of some 88 volumes. National Union of Printing, Bookbinding and Paper Workers. The London Consolidated Lodge of Journeymen (est. 1840) amalgamated with the Bookbinders and Machine Rulers Consolidated Union (est. 1840), Vellum Binders Society (est. 1823), and the Society of Day Working Bookbinders to form the National Union of Bookbinders and Machine Rulers in In 1921 this union amalgamated with the National Union of Printing and Paper Workers (est. 1890) to form the National Union of Printing, Bookbinding, Machine Ruling and Paper Workers. From 1928 the union changed its name to the National Union of Printing, Bookbinding and Paper Workers.
