In our 5 provider medical office, our dictation costs were skyrocketing. In the past several years I tried various voice recognition programs but was sadly disappointed in their results. Then we discovered WHY-TYPE and gave it a try. I can say without reservation how thrilled we are with the results. However, I also feel, in large measure, the success of this product is due to the training and support provided by your employee, Jema Cheung. She at once personable, professional, and competent--- an extremely rare combination in this day and age. She had to deal with a wide range of personalities and degrees of computer savvy. And she had to do all this in an environment where business had to go on as usual. I found her extremely competent in her knowledge of the product and her ability to make herself understood. The learning curve would have been much steeper without her excellent assistance. No product, no matter how good it is, and WHY-TYPE is a wonderful product, can stand alone without the support provided by the people behind it. Jema Cheung is a great asset to your company. B. I just want to tell you how pleased I am with the new program, which is faster and more accurate than anything I have used. As you know, I have been using your systems since I do virtually everything with speech recognition: Clinical notes, , business letters, speeches, scientific papers, and scheduling. I have never been able to type, and without Dragon, I actually could not practice modern medicine at all, let alone do it at my current high level of productivity. I also want to say how much I enjoyed spending a morning with Ben. He is a wonderful guy, and was very persistent in overcoming multiple preexisting problems with my desktop computer. I plan to acquire a new desktop computer, and I will contact you when it is ready for installation of 9.5. I have been a customer since May of Before using voice dictation, I had been hand writing notes. I was not happy with their quality, their legibility, or the amount of time required. I was concerned by the cost of usual medical dictation and turn around time. The WHY TYPE Medical System has worked very well for me. I received excellent training and I have continued to receive updates when indicated. When needed, which initially was not infrequent, I have received prompt telephone support even after 5:00 p.m. I would highly recommend this medical voice dictation system to any primary care physician. In October 2001 we began using this program to dictate all of our medical charts. We both had minimal experience with computers and were concerned about the transition process to the voice activated system. Clear and patient instruction allayed our fears. We did indeed follow the precise directions to make corrections as indicated. Accuracy and speed increased with use as predicted. We recently upgraded to Version 7 which has taken us another notch with respect to accuracy and speed. We were also concerned about the vulnerability of increased dependence on technology, but we have found that the system is very reliable. In addition to this it doesn't take vacations, it doesn't come in late and it doesn't get sick. The support staff at AM Technologies has always been helpful. Over the course of the last three weeks, I have created a 25-page single-spaced grant application (a document of approximately 13,000 words) entirely by voice. I suspect that it represents the first grant application sent to Washington which was never actually typed by a human being! Although I was already very fast at dictating documents prior to acquiring the Power Secretary software, there is no substitute for being able to see one's text appear on the screen as one dictates. When dictating into a tape recorder, one cannot easily keep track of what appears in the paragraph which has just been dictated; a single telephone interruption thus requires replaying much of the tape simply to find where one has left off. With the computer, this is never a problem. Similarly, when creating a scientific paper, it is essential to be able to examine the text which one has just created in order to keep the writing organized. Thus, I think that the computer will now become my preferred mode for writing scientific papers in the future.0 I have no doubt that by the turn of the century; many people like myself will be using voice recognition technology of this type routinely.
