1 REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL # Pest Control Services ADDENDUM No. 1 ISSUE DATE: July 24, 2017 **************************************************************************************************** Responding offerors on this project are hereby notified that this Addendum shall be made a part of the above named RFP document. The following items add to, modify, and/or clarify the RFP documents and shall have the full force and effect of the original Documents. This Addendum shall be acknowledged by the offeror in the RFP document.

2 Questions and Answers: 1. Question: Are we able to review the pest control site logs from the past 5 years? If not, can we please see a summary of work orders for rodents, bees, wasps or beetle incidents (carpet, stored pest, etc.) or other sensitive reports? Answer: See Attachment A. 2. Question: Does the county require that we provide heavy equipment if necessary to respond to work orders - specifically, scissor lifts or boom cranes? Answer: The County owns a scissor lift that could be used by the vendor as needed. The cost of any other heavy equipment would be passed on to the County with prior approval by the County s authorized representative. 3. Question: Are you able to provide a report of any legal, financial or insurance claims from the past 5 years related to pest control? Answer: N/A 4. Question: While termites appear to be excluded from the RFP, can you comment on whether other wood destroying insects are included such as Carpenter Ants, Powder Post Beetles or Carpenter Bees? Answer: While the pests in your question are not called out specifically, we will require that the vendor we select bring these issues to the County s attention with a plan for extermination. 5. Question: Does the county have any areas designated as USDA Organic? Answer: No. 6. Question: To the best of your knowledge, are there any preserves, protected areas, wetlands, or other overlays on properties that may, by their designation, restrict the use of pesticide application? Answer: No. 7. Question: Does the County import furniture, cloth, materials or food directly from oversees or international providers (in other words, stuff that doesn t first go through an importer, warehouser or distributor) Answer: No.

3 8. Question: Does the County participate in any food safety auditing processes such as AIB, HACCP, etc.? Answer: No. 9. Question: Is the County open to having the new provider replace any existing pest control equipment such as fly lights, rodent stations and (where necessary) bird deterrents? Answer: Yes. 10.Question: Are you able to provide a breakdown of food preparation or food handling areas within the properties covered by this RFP? Answer: In general, there are breakrooms all County properties, all of which have at least a sink, a microwave and a refrigerator. The areas listed below are more than simply breakrooms. Union County Agricultural Center: Room 160-Demo Kitchen and Training room Room 170- Banquet hall Room 171- Catering Kitchen Union County DSS Group Home Union County Farmers Market Union County Gov t Center: Room 327- Kitchen Room Call Center Kitchen Union County Historic Post office: Room 115-UCPS Child Nutrition Kitchen Union County Parks and Recreation: Cane Creek Park- Snack Bar Soccer Field- Snack Bar Union County Judicial Center: Room UC Sheriff s Dept. Kitchen

4 Union County Transportation: 2 Kitchens Union County Public Works Administration Building Room 119-Break Kitchen Union County DSS: Room 246-Facility Break room 11.Question: As the RFP does not include many additional pest control services such as bed bug control, termite control, etc., would you like additional proposals for these services on an ad-needed basis or will these be addressed on a case-by-case basis should issues arise in the future? Answer: These items will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. 12.Question: Are there currently any pest-related issues in any of the facilities to be serviced under the scope of this contract? If so, what pest(s) and which building(s)? Answer: There is an ongoing bird problem at the Farmers Market. 13.Question: When is this contract's expected start date? Answer: The goal is November of 2017 however; that will be dependent on the negotiation and contracting process. 14.Question: Why did Union County not renew the contract with the previous pest control vendor? Answer: Union County did not have a contract with the previous pest control vendor. 15.Question: How much was the previous pest control contract's annual value for services rendered to Union County? Answer: N/A 16.Question: If a new vendor is awarded this contract, is there anything you would like to see improved upon from the previous vendor (i.e. better communication, friendlier service, etc.)? Answer: Nothing specifically however; good communication and reliable service are always important.
