Minutes of the last meeting: Minutes were agreed, proposed by Lawn representative and seconded by Corsham representative. 3. Matters Arising: No matters arising from the minutes. 4. Chairman s report Well I ve survived (and so have you!) a second season at the helm as Chair. There have been quite a few ad-hoc issues to deal with this year including snow, surface of court 8 and various other minor problems. I would like to thank all members of the committee for their help, support and hard work this year. A lot of work is done behind the scenes with many s being exchanged back and forth in order to meet the needs of the league and ensure that netball in Swindon continues to run smoothly. I would like to thank all players, umpires, coaches and volunteers who work tirelessly for their clubs. I would also like to thank the organising committee of Fran, Sharon, Helen and Cathy for organising another great awards night. It was fantastic to get so many people there and is a real opportunity to recognise each other and share successes. Here s to another great season in 2013/14. Denise Sell Chair 5. Secretary s report Same as last year really; not too much hard work! Once again apologies for any delays in my forwarding on s. Thank you for your patience and support. I know my commitment last year to send out all minutes within 2 weeks didn t go according to plan, but hey I ll try again this year. (And probably fail miserably!) 2 6. Treasurer s report SDNA Treasurer s Report Statement of Accounts The account summary shows that expenditure exceeded income for the year resulting in a loss of 584. The current bank balance is 3, The SDNA bank account is held at the National Westminster Bank, West Swindon branch. Acceptance of Audited Accounts The accounts have been audited by Reg Willcocks. I propose that these are accepted by the meeting as a true statement of the accounts at 31 st May Subscriptions EN Affiliation Fees England Netball has increased affiliation fees by 60p (senior), 55p (18&under) and 20p (14&under) for the coming year. Wiltshire Netball will not be increasing fees for The following fees will apply for , although Netball South West have not yet advised if they will apply any increases. ENNSWWNTotal Senior and Under and Under EN collect the total amount and distribute to regions as applicable. SDNA Fees and Levies It is proposed to increase the Registration Fees from the current rate of 20 per team to 35 per team. These fees have not been increased for many years and do not now cover additional expenditure such as courts for Tournaments, web site costs. Court Fees will remain the same. New Team per new team on entry to League 10 Registration Fees per team annually 35 Court Fees per team annually (payable in two instalments) 250 Fines Meeting attendance AGM 50 Meeting attendance - other (with apologies) 5 Meeting attendance - other (no apologies) 15 Player eligibility 10 Late/incomplete match result cards 5 Payment dates SNDA registration fees and first part payment of court fees ( 190) are due 1 st October, (Full payment of court fees will also be acceptable at this time.) 4 SDNA Funds 2, Development Fund 1, Total 4, Treasurers Report was proposed by Fiona Mann, and seconded by Pat Salter. 7. Registration & Records Secretary s report No report. 8. Umpiring Secretary s report Huge congratulations to Christina Davidson who has recently gained the A award. This is an outstanding achievement. Barry Boyd and Sam Parker who have passed the B award. Barry, Sam and Lisa Kellett are also now working towards the A award Tracy Watt and Sarah Large have passed the C award. Jasmine Flatman, Hannah Mclaughlin, Michelle Steel, Nicola Young, Sophie Bull, Jack Reed, Abby Miles and Kate Sansum have gained the beginners award. My Thanks also to the other assessors (formerly known as testers). Others have been pre-assessed and are gaining practice during league games. It has been suggested that the pre- assessment on a 4 th div game be withdrawn but this would mean that the first league experience a novice umpire would have would be on a 3 rd div game. I would welcome any comments on this suggestion. Sam Parker, Joan White and Maria Bailey are now qualified mentors. Christina Davidson has also qualified as a tutor and is looking forward to tutoring her first umpire course. Several umpires have also helped other leagues and at tournaments during the Winter season. Several local umpires are also umpiring Regional league games and gaining valuable experience to develop their umpiring. We are all looking forward to both Summer Leagues and it is hoped that more umpiring assessments (formerly known as tests) can be organised. SDNA have hosted the annual Umpiring Summer School, another beginners award and a C award course. The Umpire Development Programme (UDP) has proved challenging this season with mentors withdrawing their services. It is hoped that Sam, Joan and Maria will become more involved and more umpires can gain from their valuable experience and skills. SDNA AGM Minutes June 19 th 2013 Page 4

5 It must be emphasized that this programme can be accessed by all clubs/umpires who want to develop their skills. I am prepared to stand again. Pat SALTER. At this point in the meeting, a lively discussion was also held around umpire tests/assessing. The umpiring qualifications for each division are stated in the new rules. 9. Coaching Secretary s report No report. 10. Discipline and Development Committee s reports No report. Small disciplinary matters were dealt with via correspondence. 11. Swindon Summer League report No report. 12. Swindon O35 league report This has been my 1st season running the O35 league and from my perspective it has gone extremely well and ran smoothly. I would like to personally thank Kelly Allan for the organising of the umpiring. Again this has worked brilliantly and the development for umpires is working fantastically for our up and coming umpires for the Swindon league. From all the games I have watched and played in, I truly believe everyone has played hard but had lots of fun along the way which is what the O3 league is all about. 2012/13 has been a very successful season and I'm looking forward to the next one. Election of Officers The meeting proposed and seconded en mass the roles of Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Coaching Secretary, Registrations and Records Secretary, Fixtures Secretary and Trophy Secretary as there were no candidates standing against the current officers. This was proposed by Jill Carlisle from Corsham, and seconded by Laura Holt from Lawn. Karen Davison stepped down from her role as Vice Chair, and we thank her for the help and assistance she has given to SDNA. Joanne Moody from Devizes volunteered to stand as Vice Chair. This was proposed by Marie Thompson from Moredon and seconded by Georgina Colman from Wootton Bassett. Pat Salter was willing to stand again as Umpire Secretary however Kelly Allen had also been put forward as willing to stand. A secret ballot was carried out on ballot slips and the result was 10-8 in favour of Kelly Allen. (1 club abstained from the vote.) Kelly Allen is the new umpiring secretary for the new season. Denise thanked Pat for everything that she has done for SDNA over the years. 14. Proposals SDNA AGM Minutes June 19 th 2013 Page 5

6 No proposals received from clubs, however there were proposals for rule changes put forward by a number of people on the development group. Following a discussion about each individual change proposal the final rules were agreed by everyone present. The new rules are circulated along with these minutes. 15. Subscriptions See the Treasurer s report above. Subscription fees were proposed by Fiona Mann and seconded by Julianne Spiers from Faringdon. 18. Any other business It was suggested that we form a Communications Sub-Committee, possibly with Fiona as the lead. The Development Group will take this forward initially and discuss at their next meeting. Awards Night we re pretty sure that it is the 75 th anniversary of the SDNA next year. Two dates have been suggested to hold a celebration; 7th June and the 14 th June. This will be confirmed ASAP, hopefully by the November Exec Committee meeting. Summer League this was a bit of a nightmare this year in terms of organising umpiring and rules. This will be reviewed by the Development Group at their next meeting but if anyone has any suggestions as to what rules the summer league should adopt then please send to Sharon Greenhalgh to send on to the Development Group. 8 One of the new rules states that the Disciplinary Committee and Appeals Committee will be formed at the AGM rather than at the first Exec Committee Meeting which everyone agreed makes sense rather than wait until we re 2 months into the season. Therefore everyone agreed that we would form the new committees at this AGM rather than wait till next year s AGM. (The new rules are effective from September 2013 so therefore it would be next year s AGM that it applied to.) Therefore the new committees are made up as follows; Disciplinary Committee: Division 1 Laura Holt (Lawn) Division 2 Steve Richmond (Pinehurst) Division 3 Anna (Raychem) Division 4 Lorraine Bulpitt (Abbey Meads) Division 5 Georgina Colman (Wootton Bassett) Appeals Committee Division 1 Fiona Mann (Fairford) Division 2 Lisa (Corsham) Division 3 Marie Thompson (Moredon) Division 4 Lisa Akeroyd (Croft) Division 5 Gill Shearman (Lawn) Trophy cabinet Eileen Witts suggested that it would be nice to have a display cabinet in the Dome Room to hold all of the trophies and awards that SDNA have. Steve will look to source a cabinet but to confirm with Fiona a budget for this. Denise is to investigate about insurance. Refreshments Some clubs only had 1 refreshment day last year, does this mean that this year they will have 2? Gill Shearman arranged the refreshments rota last year and will be doing it again this year so SG will ask her to confirm. Pat Harris passed a message to the SDNA via Pat Salter that it was disappointing that not all clubs from SDNA were present at the Wiltshire AGM. There were 4 clubs missing which were Delta Reds, Faringdon, Thames and Fairford. The Wiltshire AGM next year is on Tuesday 10 th June. She also said that there are plenty of positions available on the County Committee if anyone is interested in volunteering. Please let Pat Harris know if you can. 19.
