What you can expect from ME Mission Statement: To build up young men in a positive environment through HARD WORK and daily challenges. My job is not to win football games, it is to get the best out of your kids. My vision and your vision may not always look the same. I believe in consequences good or bad. Know that we love your kids. Sometimes love is caring more about their future than their present comfort. We will be unconditional with your kids.
What we expect from your kids I DO NOT BELIEVE IN QUITTING! Expectations will be high. Our expectations may look different than yours, please be understanding of that. We want to be more than coaches in your kids life. Accountability: includes classroom behavior, out of classroom behavior, and social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
Parent/Coaching Relationship It is important that we always keep a positive line of communication. Remember our goal is your kids success not just in football but in life. I wont believe everything I hear about you if you don t believe everything you hear about me. Respectfully leave the coaching to us. Our Wives and Families have nothing to do with what is happening on the football field, please don t take any frustration out on them. I believe we can overcome any problem as long as both sides are willing to respectfully communicate. Friday before or after the game is not a good time to bring up any concern. Please hold any questions, concerns, or comments until the following Monday. I would love to sit down and talk with you about them. Please communicate any problems with me, not my assistant coaches. Most importantly, I am NOT perfect and will make plenty of mistakes. Please be patient with me.
Sabercat Parents 1.We coach our players like they are our sons 2.We coach hard, loud, and aggressive 3.Football is a loud, tough, disciplined, and emotional sport-we coach the same way 4.We believe, stress the importance, and teach our priorities 5.We require your child s undivided attention when we are coaching 6.The team always comes first. 7.Athletes are played because: a.their coaches trust that athlete to perform & compete in a disciplined manner b.they have a positive attitude c.they do things that are required plus more (and than some) d.they understand their role on the team e.their first priority is to make the team better f.they Are Coachable! g.seniority is earned, not granted 8.Parents influence or position makes no difference 9.Evaluation of your child is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 10. Players who do not work out with the team in the offseason will drop on the depth chart under those that have. (Fossil Ridge Sports Excluded)
Multi-Sport School I believe that playing football can benefit your child not only in other sports but also teach Life Lessons that will help build your child s self confidence, character, and discipline. Being the first season of the year, I believe that having a successful season is just as important to other sports than it is ours. Success is a habit that we like to form at the beginning of the school year. Success breads Success. 88% of the players drafted this year in the NFL where multi-sport athletes.
Players Safety Most important thing to me is your child s safety. We will do our best during LIVE situations and scenarios to protect your child. That includes short whistles, preferred situations, proper technique, and separated drills. Please understand that this is a tough game, and injuries do happen. Have only had 2 season ending injury in 9 years of Coaching Only 6 Concussions
Team Policy A.General Guidelines and expectations:do not get too involved with or do anything that would ever embarrass the players or coaches of this football team.this includes non-school hours. Everything you do reflects, on our school and our program. Any violation of this rule can result in suspension or expulsion from the team. 1.Character: Have integrity and be strong morally. 2.Selflessness: The TEAM will always come before the individual. Do not allow yourself to be selfish. Every player is important. however, the TEAM will always come first. From the scout team player to the all stater, the rules are the same. The team does not exist to enhance your personal statistics. Every personnel decision is based upon what is best for the team. 3.Work Ethic: We must out work our opponents in everything we do! Great work ethic dissolves limitations and boundaries! There is nothing in life you cannot attain if you are willing to work for it! 4.Effort/Competitiveness: Regardless of your ability, you can always give 100% to this team. This is the one constant upon which the program is based. Effort is one area which will not be compromised by fellow players or our coaches. A great competitor is one who will not concede to defeat at any cost. 5.Discipline: In the classroom, hallways, athletic competitions, off campus, and in every facet of your life you should practice self discipline. 6.Accountability: No excuses. Own your performance. Own your behavior and choices. You are a key ingredient in your team, family, and in the lives of others. Don t let them down! Be the best you can be.you cannot improve if you are not accountable. 7.Be Coachable: Allow your coaches to help you improve and be the best you can be. Nobody likes to coach a know it all athlete. Nobody wants a know it all teammate. Help your team win be being coachable. 8.Loyalty:You are expected to be loyal to your teammates and coaches. 9.Pride: You are held to a different and higher standard because you play football. The expectations and standards are much higher.
Playing Time Respectfully- I try to avoid conversations about playing time. 99% of the time conversations about playing time include other players who can not defend themselves in the conversation. If we are having problems with you as a parent, it may result in reduction of playing time.
C-Team C Team will replace the Freshman Team This will have Mostly Freshman and Some Sophomores. Sophomores will be selected off of skill and physical maturity. This is an opportunity for our younger players to be successful and get valuable playing time. This is also an opportunity for Freshman to play Junior Varsity and even Varsity if they show the ability.
Juniors/Seniors Need to sign up for NCAA Clearinghouse Familiarize yourself with FAFSA Take ACT at least Twice before 2nd semester Please set up a meeting with your counselor to get started on these things.
Recruiting It will be my responsibility as a Head Football Coach to do all that I can to assist my student athletes in finding them a college or university to further their education. I will promote all prospective student athletes by developing positive relationships with as many college coaches and recruiters as possible. All student athletes will be encouraged to take all college entrance exams as early as possible (sophomore year). I will keep all student athletes informed on a consistent basis of all college requirements and guidelines, as well as college combine and camp dates and locations. College Football Scholarship Breakdown Level # of Universities Total Scholarships Allowed on Team Approx. # of Scholarships/Year/College Approx. # of Total Scholarships Awarded/Year in U.S. D D-1 AA D Partial Scholarships D None None None NAIA 84 Varies Partial Scholarships Varies NCAA Clearinghouse- Student athletes must register with the NCAA clearinghouse to be eligible for an athletic scholarship. There is a $65 registration fee. Student athletes cannot register until after their junior year, but must register before they can receive a scholarship offer. Core G.P.A- When referring to one s G.P.A only the core G.P.A in considered for athletic scholarships. Therefore, electives are not included when calculating one s core G.P.A. This is important to remember when Calculating your core G.P.A *Division II schools require a core G.P.A of 2.5 or higher.
