13 10. Young Players Charter We are playing for enjoyment, to be with our friends, and to make new friends. We promise to try our best to improve our skill, to help our team mates, and to obey the rules of the game. We enjoy having older people watch us play. We ask that they applaud rather than criticise our efforts and the efforts of our opponents. Remember that we are learning to play a game that should give us a lifetime of enjoyment. We may have to risk making errors in order to learn. Please give us a chance. We thank the referees for giving time to take charge of our games. We promise to respect the referee s decisions. We ask the older people to do the same. We promise to respect our opponents. We will shake hands before and after each game. Féile Chill Dara Team Information Pack

14 11. Mentor s Role The mentor s role is vitally important to the success of Féile Peil na nóg. The mentor is the link between the Féile Executive and the players. The mentor s influence on the team will be reflected in the spirit and atmosphere of the entire weekend. It is central to the ethos of Féile that all players enjoy the whole occasion. Participation rather than Win at all costs is the key. Specific co-operation is required as follows: Be responsible for the general good conduct of the players in the party; Ensure that all players attend activities punctually; Having favourites on the team should be avoided, but give special attention to players who may be shy or unable to mix easily; Do not encroach on the pitch during matches and respect the decision of the match officials; Abusive or bad language will not be tolerated; Injury or illness of any member of your party should be reported immediately to your host club; You are responsible for your team s equipment. Write your club name on footballs and ask the players to label their belongings clearly; Carry your club banner during the Parade. Féile Chill Dara Team Information Pack

15 Next page contains your Team/Bus Number. 12 This number is important as it identifies your Bus Number for parking, and also your Team s Position in the Parade and lineout in St. Conleth s Park (County Grounds), Newbridge. Féile Chill Dara Team Information Pack
