Super Sunday Football Big day of adult football action in Na Fianna this Sunday. It starts at 10.30am with our Senior footballers playing Thomas Davis in Mobhi Road, (see below). Our Inter footballers host Ballyboden in Collinstown at the same time. Junior C s play St Josephs/OCB in Mobhi Road at 12 noon and at 3pm our J10 s play Rosmini also in Mobhi Road. Best of luck to all teams, support welcome. Senior Football League This Weekend Fresh from Dublin s victory over Laois last weekend, we welcome back our three Dubs for our League match on Sunday against Thomas Davis at in Mobhi Rd. Just as well that we have them back following injuries to Niall McGovern and Gus Farrell in our last round of league games. We had mixed fortunes in the double round of fixtures played last week with a great home win against Brigid s in Collinstown, followed by a 5 point defeat away to Judes, so the team will be anxious to get back on track and consolidate their place in the top four of the league. Thomas Davis had a three game unbeaten sequence broken when losing to Ballyboden on Wednesday night and will be anxious to get back on track on Sunday. Support was really appreciated in our last home match against Brigid s, so come on up to Mobhi Rd on Sunday morn. Sure what else would you be doing? Na Fianna s Dubs Best of luck to Shane Barrett, Joey Boland and Dublin s Senior hurlers in Saturday s Leinster Hurling Championship semi-final against Kilkenny in O Moore Park, throw in 7pm. Best of luck to our Amy Alcock and Ciara Kavanagh (Na Fianna 2002 Girls) this weekend as they represent Dublin (and Na Fianna!) in the Leinster Skillstar competitions. Amy takes part in the Football competition in Abbotstown on Saturday, and Ciara participates in the Camogie competition on Sunday in Kilkenny. 1

Senior Football Golf Classic Held just as the recent spell of Summer weather began, the Senior Football Golf Classic took place on Friday May 27 th in Donabate and was once again a resounding success and a very enjoyable day for all the participants. Padraig Byrne (father of Senior Footballer Aaron) was defending the trophy from 2015 and was not found wanting. With a record score of 95 points, his team of Tom Scanlon, Darren Daly, Niall Tormey and Padraig himself, carried the day. In second place with a score of 90 points (which would have won every previous Golf Classic) was the DCU team led by Ken Robinson. All players returned to Mobhi Rd for a steak dinner and prize-giving, where much fun was had by all. Great to see so many football greats playing in the event, Seamus Darby and Johnny Cooney from the famous Offaly 1982 team, Keith Barr, Dermot Deasy, our own John Caffrey, Darren Daly from the winning team, to mention just a few, so book your place for next year now! Full Prize-Winners List; 1 st Padraig Byrne 2 nd DCU 3 rd Bon Crubeen 4 th John Caffrey 5 th Brendan Roddy Front Nine Dublin Bus Back Nine Ian McGowan Longest Drive - Mick Robinson Nearest the Pin Neil Dawson Longest Drive Women - Noirin Callan 2

Good Win For Junior A Footballers Well done to our Junior A Footballers on their excellent win during the week in AFL 5 with a scoreline of 1-16 to 2-11 against Naomh Mearnóg in Collinstown. Despite the fact that the team was without many of its regular starters due to Leaving Cert commitments and students on J1 visas, this was a great performance in the circumstances, and keeps the team in the hunt for play-off places. Na Fianna s Dubs Pictured at last weekend s Dublin U-13 Camogie outing to Cork were Na Fianna s Sarah Cullen, Sinead Rogers, Anna Mc Loughlin and Aifric Mangan. Collinstown and St Vincents pitches Mentors are reminded to ensure that the gates at Collinstown and St Vincents are securely locked after matches and training sessions. The DAA and St Vincents CBS kindly allow us to use their lands for Club activities so it is incumbent on us all to ensure that no damage is caused by trespassers due to our lack of care. Please ensure that last out, locks up and that any suspicious activity is reported. It s in all our interests to follow these simple guidelines. 3

2005 Boys Invitational Football Blitz Mobhí road was buzzing under the warm Mediterranean type sun on Saturday afternoon as the 2005 boys hosted their now annual football blitz. Teams representing Whitehall- Colmcilles, Parnells, Caragh GAA Club (Co. Kildare), Naomh Colmcille GAA (Co. Meath), Carrickmacross Emmets (Co. Monaghan), CLG Cúchulainn (Co. Cavan) and Na Fianna lined up on the all-weather pitch. The juvenile chair, Dara McGowan provided a warm welcome to all teams & supporters and officially opened the blitz. The players then received a guard of honour as a piper led the teams onto the pitch for a mood-setting version of Amhrán na bhfiann. The blitz consisted of a cup and shield competition with each team playing five matches. All games were eagerly contested but played in a friendly and fair manner. After a long and entertaining afternoon of football, played in glorious sunshine, the teams from Ulster, Carrick Emmets and CLG Cúchulainn, topped the tables in the Cup and shield competitions respectively. Nice to see Ulster teams getting a result in Dublin. The Na Fianna boys played very well, were competitive throughout, and acted as fantastic ambassadors for the club. 4

During the day, the players and supporters were provided with refreshments courtesy of the 2005 boys parents. Feedback received and tweets posted by the visiting clubs were extremely positive, thankful and complimentary. All attendees were very impressed with the blitz organisation and welcome. The 2005 boys wish to express their thanks to everyone who helped out in the organisation and running of the blitz, all the people who set up pitches, the referees, the ticket sellers, pitch coordinators, the score keepers & runners, those who made food, the eagle-eyed photographers, the car parking attendees and those who arranged goodie bags for all the players. The 2005 boys also wish to thank the wider Na Fianna group for their continuous help, advice, and encouragement. The event would not have been possible without everyone s support. Saturday s Blitz showed once again the fantastic community that is Na Fianna. The visiting clubs went home very happy after being warmly welcomed, well fed, nicely tanned in the sun, and entertained by the fantastic football skills on display. Club Lotto This week s Na Fianna Club Lotto winning numbers were; Club Lotto jackpot of 16,000 still not won. Congrats to our three Match 3 winners, Paul Carroll, Oisin Brabazon and Brian Courtney each winning 45. 7 Carparking in Mobhi Road Once again members attending matches, minileagues, Nursery or any Mobhi Road event at any time are requested to park considerately and to observe the parking restrictions in place. A number of recent incidents where cars have been parked illegally in clearly marked yellow boxes resulted in chaos where delivery trucks, buses and traffic in general was unable to flow freely through the club. Considerate and proper parking on the club grounds will ensure access for all and all members are asked to play their part. Please remember that painted yellow boxes are there for a valid reason, and not just for decoration. Illegally parked cars will be dealt with appropriately Girls Cake Sale Our 2008 Girls, some of whom are pictured above, will hold a fundraising cake sale this Saturday in the Club. Lots of home baked goodies available and all for a good cause. Your support would be appreciated. 7

Minileagues 2016 Minileagues continued again this week in fine sunshine. They continue this Saturday morning and again next week culminating in finals day the following weekend. Details of this eagerly awaited annual club day will be advised in next Friday s Nuacht.. Comhbhrón Deepest sympathies are extended to the O'Brien and McMahon families on the passing of Mrs Kathleen McMahon, mother of Julie, mother in law of 2006 Girls' Mentor Tom and Grandmother of Sophia (2006 Girls), Jamie (2009 Boys) and Alanna (Nursery). Sincere sympathies are also extended to the Ó Ceallacháin and Kelly families on the passing of Mrs Mary Kelly, mother of Olive, mother in law of Mentor Niall and Grandmother of Meadhbh (2002 Girls), Eoghan (2004 Boys), Caoimhe (2005 Girls), Cliodhna (2007 Girls), Siún (2009 Girls), and Cormac (Nursery). Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anamnacha. Fógra Tabachtach The objective of Na Fianna Nuacht is to communicate as much club activity as possible however it is important to note that all items for inclusion in either Club Notes or Na Fianna Nuacht are reported to pro.nafianna.dublin@gaa.ie or texted to by Sunday evening. With a membership of 2700 and approx 100 teams now competing it is difficult to ensure all club activity is reported upon Do not assume that your team s activity is already known to Na Fianna Nuacht or that someone else has reported it. When errors or omissions occur it is the policy of Na Fianna Nuacht to correct these in subsequent issues when they are reported to pro.nafianna.dublin@gaa.ie 8
