Senior Hurlers Looking For Your Support Na Fianna s Senior Hurlers begin their Championship campaign this evening in Parnell Park and we all wish them the very best of luck. The team and team management have been busy in preparation for tonight s match and would love to see and hear huge Na Fianna support. The build-up for Championship was completed last weekend with a fine win over Kilmacud Crokes away in Silverpark. For the last few years the Club has been laying the foundations to develop and compete at the highest level. The hurling talent coming through the club at the moment bodes well for the future and having won two of the last three Minor A Championships the future looks bright. Our Senior Hurlers are especially delighted to have Wynns Hotel on board who have kindly sponsored the team jerseys tonight, get there early in your Na Fianna colours and best voice. Go n-éirí libh lads. 1
Weekend Action Senior Hurling championship starts this weekend and our Seniors play Craobh Chiaráin tonight at 8.15pm in Parnell Park. Inters play Thomas Davis away on Saturday at 6pm. Both Junior hurling teams are in Championship at 12 on Sunday, A s play Setanta in Mobhi Road, B s host Realt Dearg in Collinstown. Senior 3 Camogie team play Thomas Davis away on Sunday at 10.30am. Minor football on Sunday with A s playing St Brigids in Mobhi Road at and B s playing St Peregrines in St Vincents CBS. U-16 footballers in a Championship double header on Saturday afternoon in Mobhi Road. First up it's the B's who take on Cuala in their semi-final at 2pm and after that at 3.30pm it's the turn of the A's who take on local rivals St Vincent's in the quarter final of their championship. Best of luck to all teams and all support welcome. Full fixture list on website. Na Fianna s Dubs Best of luck to Jonny, Tomás and Dublin Senior footballers, going for their third League title in a row, in Sunday s National Football League final against Cork in Croke Park, throw in 4pm. Good luck also to Dublin s Minor hurlers against Offaly in tomorrow s Electric Ireland Leinster MHC match in Parnell Park at 2.30pm. The side captained by Na Fianna s Eoin Skelly includes Gavin King and Matthew Oliver and the panel also includes Padraig Buggy, Donal Burke and Colin Currie. Golf Society Outing Na Fianna s Golf Society will hold its first outing of 2015 in Castleknock next Monday 27 th April. Tee times can be reserved by contacting Ciaran Gray , new members always welcome. Phone Cable Repaired Following a recent local area cable fault which left the Club office without phones and internet for several days, service was eventually restored just before lunchtime on Wednesday. Things are slowly returning to normal following this outage. Club office is open every day from 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday. 2
Féile Ladies Football Tomorrow Best of luck to our two ladies football teams in Féile tomorrow. Our A team will be based in Páirc Uí Mhuchú (Ballyboden St Endas) where they will play five matches as follows; 10am v Foxrock/Cabinteeley 10.50am v Cuala 11.40am v Lucan Sarsfields 12.30pm v Ballyboden 13.20pm v Kilmacud Crokes Semis will be played at the same venue in the afternoon. Our B team will be in Marlay Park (Balinteer St Johns) and their schedule of matches is as follows; 10.50am 11.50am 13.40am v Cuala v Beann Eadair v Ballyboden Semis also in same venue tomorrow afternoon. If you can spare the time at any stage tomorrow the girls at either venue would really appreciate your support. Go mbeidh an t-ádh libh a chailíni. 3
Johnstown Park Following a number of incidents experienced recently in and around Johnstown Park, Club members using the facility, including players, mentors and parents are asked to be vigilant and to be alert to any potential threat to the safety of our players and their personal property. Any suspicious activities should be reported immediately to the Gardai at Finglas Teams using Johnstown Park should ensure that during training, all personal belongings are protected, for example by a group of parents, and that all players should leave the park together, either on foot or on bicycles and that nobody gets separated or has to travel home alone. This follows a particularly nasty assault last Thursday evening on one of our U-15 footballers by a group of youths when he was pulled to the ground from his bike resulting in a fractured shoulder and the theft of his bike. St Vincents CBS Pitches Teams and mentors using the St Vincents School pitches are reminded of the special relationship that exists between Na Fianna, the School and its management. As a result of this arrangement, the Club benefits hugely by having exclusive access to the playing pitches, a key resource that guarantees playing facilities for many of our teams. It is in Na Fianna s interest therefore to ensure that this relationship is respected and that nothing should happen that might undermine or threaten the current arrangements. Players and mentors are asked to respect the facility and to abide by notices posted at the pitch gates. In particular, players are asked to clean their boots before leaving the pitch so as not to drag grass and mud into the Primary School yard and also to pick up any litter, including plastic bottles, before leaving the pitch. Mentors are asked to ensure that the equipment shed door is locked when leaving. The cooperation of all members in this regard would be appreciated so as to ensure that Na Fianna continues to enjoy these precious playing facilities. 4
Na Fianna Golf Classic The 2015 Na Fianna Senior Footballers Golf Classic takes place on Friday May 22 nd in Donabate Golf Club. The event is for teams of four players and the cost is 300 per team. This includes the round of golf, some goodies on the day, steak dinner in Na Fianna and smashing prizes. Promises to be a great day out for the golfer in you and a good fund-raiser for the footballers. Pat Breen leads the committee again this year and teams can be entered by contacting Pat or any of his committee; John Caffrey, Kevin Bulman and Gerry Donohoe. Club Shop The Club Shop, located in Clubhouse foyer, will open tomorrow Saturday 25 th April from 9am to 1pm. Club Lotto This week s Na Fianna Club Lotto winning numbers were; No jackpot winner but congrats to our two Match 3 winners, Carmel Ryan and Mary Bolgero Vinny who each win 65. Congrats also to our five Lucky Pick winners who won 15 each, Ciaran Redmond, Gerard Murray, Michelle Clarke c/o Vinny, Michelle Farrell and The McGowans c/o Vinny. Next week s Club Lotto Jackpot will be 8,750 please support. and finally Best wishes for a speedy recovery to U-15 footballer Evun Downes who is recovering following an incident during the week. 5
Comhbhrón Sincere sympathies are extended to the Barrett and McNally families on the passing of Mrs Eileen Butler, Mother of Marie McNally and Eimear Barrett, Grandmother of Shane Barrett and the McNallys, Gráinne, Donal and Fiona and Mother in law of Fergus McNally and Gerry Barrett. Sympathies are also extended to the Maher family on the recent passing of Gerry, Grandfather of Sadbh Capper (U-14 football) and Aoibhinn Capper (U-11 football). Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamnacha. Fógra Tabachtach The objective of Na Fianna Nuacht is to communicate as much club activity as possible however it is important to note that all items for inclusion in either Club Notes or Na Fianna Nuacht are reported to pro.nafianna.dublin@gaa.ie or texted to by Sunday evening. With a membership of 2700 and approx 100 teams now competing it is difficult to ensure all club activity is reported upon Do not assume that your team s activity is already known to Na Fianna Nuacht or that someone else has reported it. When errors or omissions occur it is the policy of Na Fianna Nuacht to correct these in subsequent issues when they are reported to pro.nafianna.dublin@gaa.ie 6
