The play is directed by Anthony Greene Farmers Market The Coachford market takes place this Saturday in Coachford GAA hall from 10.30am to 1.00pm. There will be lots of home produced goods on offer and some really excellent coffee as well. The market is always worth a visit and a great opportunity to pick up some unusual gifts for Christmas. Greenway opened The Minister for state for Foreign Affairs, Mr Sean Sherlock TD performed the official opening of the Coachford Greenway on October 31st. Also present at the opening of this wonderful amenity were the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Alan Coleman, Blarney native, Mr Jerry O Sullivan Deputy Chief Executive of ESB and Olive Loughnane Olympian and World Silver Medallist. The Coachford Greenway is the final product of a two year long project to develop a multi purpose amenity by Inniscarra Lake Tourism Development Limited in association with the National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland and in Partnership with the ESB, Inland Fisheries Ireland and Cork County Council. The project was funded by a grant from Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, along with Cork County Council, Inland Fisheries Ireland, the Coop Fund and the National Countryside Recreation Strategy as well as fundraisers from the local community in Coachford and the surrounding area. The project, a huge investment for the region, has provided a 2.8km linear park in the form of a walkway, now available for everyone to enjoy; walking, jogging, rowing spectators, family days out, picnics and fishing. In August 2013 the ESB entered a 25 year licence agreement with Inniscarra Lake Tourism Development Ltd to support the development and facilitate the construction of the Coachford Greenway on ESB lands. The ESB has provided support to the Inniscarra Lake Tourism during the construction phase and will continues to do so into the future. In July 2014 The National Coarse fishing Federation of Ireland hosted the 4 th World Feeder Fishing Championships on Inniscarra Lake and welcomed teams from 25 different nations onto the Coachford Greenway. The event was an over whelming success bringing much welcomed revenue during the championships which showcased the magnificent facility to anglers Worldwide. Deirdre O Donovan of the Coachford Community Association made presentations to Tommy Lawton, Rob Allen and Martin O'Mahony to acknowledge their commitment and volunteering spirit to developing the Coachford amenity. 2 News News from from The The Bog Bog of of the the Foxy Foxy Woman Woman February 2013 Barrels of Belly laughs at Breathnachs Coachford Players served up a hilarious night of comedy last weekend as they performed three one act plays in Breathnach s Bar as part of their annual Pub Theatre night on Saturday and Sunday night.. The night started off with a performance of The Script by Trevor Suthers. This very funny play directed by Anne Marie McMahon and acted out by Grainne Donovan, Clare Leahy, Raphaella McFall and Rachel Kiely got the night off to a great start with the very large crowd really enjoying the short play. Next up was A Night Out by Frank Vickery. This hilarious farce had the audience in stitches all the way through. It was directed by Peter Dineen and featured some really excellent performances from the four actors including newcomer, Kayleigh Dilworth and the more established acting of Anne Kiely, John McCaffery and Joe Scanlon. The final play was the strangely titled Rabbits are no substitute for men by Charlotte Court. This hugely humorous play again directed by Anne Marie McMahon brought the house down and was very Kayleigh Dilwortth as Dooreen and Anne Kiely as Mam in A Night Out. well performed by Grainne Donovan, Clare Leahy and Raphaella McFall. The new venue for Pub theatre was a great success and the group were very thankful to Colm and Mary Cronin of Breathnachs for being so accommodating and welcoming. Foróige win Divisional Quiz Coachford Foróige won their first interclub competition recently when they captured the West Cork Foróige Divisional Table Quiz title. The team of Leah Buckley, Eoin Walshe, Josh Martin and Tadgh O Brien Bradley were selected to represent their club following a club quiz in October. The team travelled to Clonakilty to meet the other clubs from the division. Coachford and Rosscarbery were tied in first place at the end iof 10 rounds of questions but Coachford won the tie break and the 40 first prize. Eleven members of the club took part in a basketball tournament in Bandon last week but failed to make it to the finals. The club members are working on a design for club Hoodies at the moment and planning for their first Inter club Disco in Bandon on Friday December 5th. Last Wednesday Quiz winners, Leah Buckley, Tadgh O Brien Bradley, Paul Finn (West Cork Foróigr), Eoin Walshe and Josh Martin Molly Raises Hundreds from Haircut. Congratulations to Molly Mangan from Rylane who stuck to her promise of getting her beautiful hair cut up short for charity. The 9yr old donated her 22 inch pony tail to the Rapunzel Foundation so that it could be used to make wigs for children who suffer hair loss as a result of medical conditions or treatment. Molly also raised some much needed funds for the charity though sponsorship cards. Maria O Donoghue from Styles Hair Salon in Coachford cut Molly s hair and gave the little girl a fabulous new hairstyle that she can be very proud of. The salon pulled out all the stops last weekend and created a party atmosphere for all of Molly s friends and family who came along to support her.

3 News from The Bog of the Foxy Woman Tidy Towns Last Sunday the Tidy Towns committee and helpers planted over 400 daffodil bulbs on the approach roads to the village. It is hoped these will explode into a burst of colour in the spring to make the village even more beautiful. Green area black spot The recycling bins in Coachford were fast becoming a litter black-spot. According to Tidy Towns chairperson, Martha McCaffery " Recycling is something we all should be doing and having these bottle and can banks in the village should be a great amenity however the area was becoming an eyesore as more and more rubbish was being left there by some people who come to dispose of their bottles and cans. We have had to remove cardboard boxes, kettles, plates, dishes, plastic bags and even a child's buggy. The area was dirty and becoming a health hazard.. In October, following a visit to the village by two Tidy Towns judges the Tidy Towns committee wrote to the council asking them to pay more attention to the site, put a proper surface in the area empty the bins on a more regular basis and to erect signage around the bins. We are glad to report that the council have tarred the area and have made assurances that signage will be forthcoming. We appeal to people to continue to use the recycling centre for what it is supposed to be used for but to take home their non recyclable materials with them and dispose of those properly. The new directional signage at the crossroads in the village and on the approach roads is also very welcome. Images from the opening of the Coachford Green-

4 News News from from The The Bog Bog of of the the Foxy Foxy Woman Woman February 2013 Thank you for the Music! Congratulations to the Coachford Community Association who put on a marvellous Night at the Musicals show recently. The performers entertained huge crowds on Saturday and Sunday night with song after song from the musicals of the West End and Broadway. In all 21 songs were belted out by the group who were made up entirely of volunteers from all over Coachford, Canovee and beyond. The director, Karolyne Dineen and Musical Director, Aoife Donovan had put a huge amount of work into this and it showed. The production values were superb and the musical performances, harmonies and vocal standards were excellent. The choral rendition of 'Bring him home' from Les Misérables was a highlight of the show as were the performances by Orla Lucey, Emily O'Connell and Jenny O'Riordan. Henry Delaney s and Aoife Donovans rendition of 'All I ask of you' from the Phantom of the Opera was another superb moment in an excellent show. The performances of the younger singers in the group brought the house down with their rendition or Edelweiss and their dance off with the older members in the dance number from 'Fame'. Thank You to everyone associated to with the 'Night at the Musicals'. It was a great success with over 2,400 raised for the Coachford Christmas lights. Thanks to all of you who came and supported the event, to the people who came both nights! and to those who couldn't make it but sent money. Thanks to those who supported the raffle and those that donated the spot prizes. Thanks to O'Callaghan's Bar and the Community House for the rehearsal space, the GAA and Mary Spillane for being so accommodating. Thanks to all who supplied props and costumes. County Final goes to replay Aghabullogue Minor footballers played out a thriller of a County Final last Sunday when they faced Ballyvourney in the Sports Grounds at CIT. The game was played at a terrific pace and some lovely football was witnessed by the large crowd in attendance. Ballyvourney had the better of Aghabullogue in the first thirty minutes and went in at the break five points. Things were looking even more ominous when Ballyvourney started the second half with another point but the never say die attitude of this bunch of Aghabullogue players saw them regroup and move the ball quickly up the pitch and mount wave after wave of attack on the West Muskerry side. The pressure paid off with some fine taken scores by the forwards and Matthew O Brien Bradley in particular. Half way through the second half Aghabullogue had brought the deficit down to one point and two minutes from the end equalised to take the game to a replay next Sunday at 12.15pm again in CIT. Aghabullogue Abú. Bragging rights to Rylane Rylane easily dismissed the challenge of Coachford AFC last Saturday in the AOH Cup second round game played in Rylane in excellent conditions. The first division boys from the northern side of the parish tore into the premier side from Coachford from the start and looked the hungrier and more determined side throughout the ninety minutes. Following sustained pressure in the first ten minutes Rylane were awarded a free kick two yards outside the box which was fired to the back of the net by Mark Long. It was no more than they deserved at this early stage of the game. On the half hour Rylane doubled their lead with a goal from Daniel Forde. Early in the second half Coachford s central defender, Ciaran Lucey was dismissed following a second yellow card and in effect the game was over. Coachford did apply pressure and came close on a number of occasions to pulling one back but Rylane s defence was resolute and soaked up everything with goalkeeper Ian O Sullivan having a fine performance between the posts. On the stroke of full time Rylane found the back of the net again to make the final score three goals to nil and advance to the third round of the Cup. Christmas Lights It is hoped that the Christmas Lights will be switched in the village on Sunday December 7th at 6.30pm. Christmas Concert Coachford National School will hold their Christmas Concert on Thursday December 11th in the GAA Hall in Coachford Aghabullogue Under 13 Mid Cork B Camogie Champions
