2 Rowing Ireland Coastal Division Chairpersons' Welcome On behalf of Rowing Ireland I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the rowers, coxes, coaches, parents and their friends to the 2018 Irish Coastal Rowing Championships which are being held in the National Rowing Centre in August. This is a momentous occasion as the National Rowing Centre hosts an Irish Coastal Championship for the first time on a new course, adjacent to the existing Olympic course. We are extremely fortunate to have the National Rowing Centre which in addition to hosting regattas throughout the year contains the organisations offices and is also the base for the high performance team. During your visit it is highly likely that you may bump into a World Champion or an Olympian. In addition to the small army of volunteers without which an event of this nature could not take place, I would like to thank two other groups. The first is the Coastal Championship Committee which met monthly since December to ensure the Championships are well organised and run to a high standard. The second is the host club which this year is Rushbrooke Rowing Club. As the feet on the ground in the National Rowing Centre, Rushbrooke are leaving no stone unturned in making all the necessary arrangements including liaising with a large number of bodies such as Coillte, the Gardai and the ESB. We look forward to seeing you and your club in the National Rowing Centre in August. Kieran Kerr Chairperson Rowing Ireland Coastal Division Rushbrooke Rowing Club Host Club Chairpersons' Welcome On behalf of Rushbrooke Rowing Club, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the Coastal Rowing Community of Ireland to the 2018 Irish Coastal Rowing Championships which will be hosted by our club at the National Rowing Centre in Cork on the 18th and 19th August We are honoured as a club to have been successful with our bid to host this event, and we are delighted to be hosting the event at the National Rowing Centre in Cork, the Home of Rowing in Ireland. We would like to assure you that we are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the 2018 Irish Coastal Rowing Championships will be one of the greatest Coastal Rowing events ever held in the country and one to remember for years to come. I would like to thank the National Rowing Centre who have been so accommodating in welcoming us in ahead of this year s championships. I would also like to thank the Coastal Division of Rowing Ireland, the Championship Committee, who meet regularly and all of those clubs who have offered their support for this year s event from all corners of the country. We look forward to welcoming you and your club to the National Rowing Centre in August. Best wishes and a huge gratitude of thanks must go to Rushbrooke Rowing Club for hosting this event. I have no doubt they will spare no effort in maintaining the very high standard that has become the hallmark of our sport. I know all clubs present will strive to make this a truly successful Championship Regatta. I also express my thanks to the Championship Committee for their enthusiasm and effort in pursuit of a great finale to our rowing year. I must also thank the many sponsors for their continued support, Coillte for the use of their parking facilities, the volunteers, safety personnel, regatta logistics personnel, and Rowing Ireland and its personnel for the use of their wonderful facilities here in Farran. 3 The Venue Facilities The 2018 Irish Coastal Rowing Championships will be held at the National Rowing Centre in Farran Woods on the outskirts of Cork City. The National Rowing Centre is the home of the sport of Rowing in Ireland and it is the headquarters of Rowing Ireland the National Governing Body of the sport. The facilities at the venue are world class and it is here that the high performance Irish Athletes are based and train from. Getting There The venue is located on the Western Side of Cork City at Farran. It is easily accessible with a number of routes leading to it. 4 Rowing Course The rowing course will be set to the East of the existing racing course at the National Rowing Centre as you will see in the above image. It will consist of ten lanes. There will be three racing courses available as follows: First Course Second Course Multi Turn Course A Multi Turn Course B Straight Line Course Circuit Course 800 metres 1500 metres 1600 metres 2300 metres 750 meters Distance to be Confirmed Landing / Crewing Area There is an extensive landing / crewing area available along the course and there is also extensive permanent pontoons and slipways for boat launching and recovery at the facility.

5 Event Site Layout The National Rowing Centre is used to hosting large scale rowing events and this years Irish Coastal Rowing Championships will be no different. The above image shows the draft event site layout which may be changed closer to the event if the need arises. Parking Parking will be in the Farran Woods Car Park which is adjacent to the venue. This facility can take cars. In the event further parking is required then an overflow car park area in the venue will also be an option. The proposed car park can be used in any weather. Toilets The venue has toilets in a number of locations on site. To compliment this there will be extra toilets brought in specifically for this event and they will be located at pre determined locations throughout the site as deemed necessary. Food and Refreshments There will be a wide array of food available from the National Rowing Centre Restaurant throughout the event. The menus will be issued out to clubs in advance. Boat and Trailer Parking There will be a dedicated boat and trailer park located on the site close to the launching and recovery area. There will be security personnel on site overnight.

6 The Championships The event will be run under the auspices of the Coastal Division of Rowing Ireland. A dedicated championships committee shall co ordinate the event on behalf of the Coastal Division. Regatta Director Shane Russell Whitegate Rowing Club Rules The rules as set down by the Coastal Division shall be rules of the event. The starter, time keeping and race results will be under the control of the Coastal Division of Rowing Ireland. Note: At the time of production the rules for the Coastal Division of Rowing Ireland are going through their final stages before being approved by the clubs. A full rule book will be issued to all clubs in advance of the event. Racing Schedule The Championships will take place over the weekend of the 18th / 19th August It is anticipated that racing will commence at 8.30 am on both days. Event Entries The closing date for entries shall be on Wednesday the 8th August Entry fees must be received within two days of the close of entry. Entries may only be made through the Tracker regatta system.
