Dear Rowing friends, As President of the Royal Belgian Rowing Federation I am very proud that we were chosen as candidate to host the European Junior Championships 2014 in Hazewinkel.

The battle on the water is one of the hardest but also one of the most beautiful and pure!

2 Dear Rowing friends, As President of the Royal Belgian Rowing Federation I am very proud that we were chosen as candidate to host the European Junior Championships 2014 in Hazewinkel. I am convinced this will be a successful combination of boys and girls, willing to achieve their goal in rowing and the social contacts between the European countries. The battle on the water is one of the hardest but also one of the most beautiful and pure! Hazewinkel has already hosted many organizations such as WRC -23, Worldcup, Coupe de la Jeunesse, World Masters Regatta, etc So Hazewinkel know the needs of sports men very good and will do his utmost to have a nice stay for everybody. All the volunteers looking forward to start the work! Belgium is known for his hospitality, food and culture. As the accommodation will be placed in Mechelen you can discover immediately in this beautiful city the combination of those three. So no reason to doubt I would like to welcome all the European countries with their rowers in 2014 in Hazewinkel and I hope we can establish a new record of participants and countries! The organising committee is particularly happy and proud to welcome you to the 2014 European Rowing Junior Championships, your Youth Rowing Festival. It is a Youth Rowing Festival not only because we will stage the 13 events of the European Rowing Junior Championships as our main event, but we also want to give the opportunity to U23 to compete on the beautiful rowing course of Bloso-Hazewinkel and motivate our Belgian year old rowers by participating during the same week-end in a national triathlon (running/rowing slalom/rowing). The organising committee and all the volunteers are eager to put everything in place to give you the best conditions for your competition and make your stay memorable in many ways. 3 Welcome word of the Mayor of Willebroek I m pleased to welcome all the participants and guests of the 2014 European Rowing Junior Championships. These Championships to be held in the Bloso Sports Centre Hazewinkel from 23 to 25 May 2014 will be a great opportunity to demonstrate once again the wide experience of the Belgian Rowing Federation regarding international events organization. Willebroek, since the opening of the regatta course in 1978, hosted many international championships in rowing and canoeing. The Bloso rowing course Hazewinkel proved to be one of the best and fairest places for this level of competition. In the early days of the Hazewinkel regatta course I had the opportunity to be one of the first rowing addicts of the noble sport of rowing in Willebroek. This sport gave me the strength to go for my dreams and goals. The spirit of this ultimate demanding sport and the respect for basic values are highly respected and are still the funding in my professional career. I wish all participants, coaches, team leaders, staff, jury members and organizers success for the competition and I encourage them to enjoy the warm hospitality of our city. 5 Accommodation and transport AII reservations for teams and officials shall be addressed to the Organising Committee. Accommodation prices, per person sharing (i.e. double room), all meals included, are as follows. Cat. A (Novotel type) 90 Cat. B+ (Ibis type) 72 Cat. B (Ibis budget type) 65 Cat. Accommodation and transport forms are available at the end of this bulletin and will also be made available on the website. Please send back the booking forms as soon as possible and by 15 January 2014 at the latest in order to ensure timely reservation of accommodation and transport for your team and officials. It is essential to inform us of the day, time and place of your arrival and departure to correctly organise transport.
