2 FITNESS FANATIC (OVEALL FITNESS) Objective(s): 1. Perform the circuit at Intensity Level 3 or higher. 2. Identify the primary component alternative exercise to improve 3. Demonstrate locomotor skills during station rotation. Equipment: Key Safety & Management Tip(s): 1. Use circuit training cards for content, and quick reminders for proper form and technique. 2. Make sure students have plenty of room to use equipment at each station. Station/ Exercise 1. Dumbbell Shoulder Press 2. Step Box Straddle Jacks 3. Weight Bar Lunge 4. Agility ings Fitness Component(s) CE CE Student Explanation: This circuit will prepare your body for more exercise. Each exercise should be performed at a minimum of Intensity Level 3. This circuit includes to improve cardiorespiratory endurance. The other two exercises, stretch band shoulder press and weight bar lunge help build muscular strength and endurance in the muscle groups. During rotation, you will perform a locomotor skill such as running, skipping or galloping to the next station (select one). Direction(s): 1. Introduce circuit using the student explanation above. 2. Clarify circuit rotation (clockwise, counterclockwise, locomotor skill). 3. Explain and demonstrate the stations and locomotor skill. 4. Time seconds and then rotate students. Assessment(s): 1. 5 Theme One: Fab 5 Comes Alive Day Seven 50 Yard Line Football Lesson Focus Objective: Students will demonstrate the football motor skills of throwing, catching and running. Students will explain how muscular strength is needed to play football. Equipment: 1 Foam Football for Each Group Cones Explanation: In 50 Yard Line Football there is one quarterback and several wide receivers. Like other sports there are different positions to learn and play. One of the positions in football is quarterback. One job a quarterback has in football is to throw to a wide receiver that will catch the football. The main job of a wide Activity receiver is to run to an open space down the field to catch the football from the quarterback. To throw a football long distances, muscular strength is required in the upper body. Directions: 1. Divide the students into equal teams of Have each team line up behind a cone on the end line of the gym. 3. Give the first person in line a foam football; this will be the first quarterback. The remainder of students in line will be called the wide receivers. 4. On the signal Go, the second person from each line will run straight ahead as far as they want to a yard line and turn around for a throw from the quarterback (see diagram). 5. If the football is caught by the wide receiver the number of points from that yard line will be added to the teams running score. Players waiting in line should shout out the new score. The wide receiver immediately runs the ball back to the quarterback before going to the end of the line. 6. If the football is not caught, the wide receiver brings the ball back to the quarterback. No points are awarded. 7. When the first wide receiver gets to the front of the line again, he/she will become the new quarterback. Play continues until all players have been the quarterback. Variations: Use different balls. Use success balls for younger students. Give teams a time limit to compete for points. Ask students to explain why muscular strength is needed to throw. Safety: Students should run in a straight line and not interfere with another groups catch.
