1 Sanuk Sabai Social Golfers Club Rules Club Handicap System The Club applies the Stableford Format for calculating the Handicap Index. The Course Handicap calculation incorporates slope ratings from each Golf Course and Tee Box. The handicapping is similar to the EGA Handicapping System in that it incorporates the course and slope rating system of the USGA and uses the Stableford System to achieve stroke control and course handicap adjustments. The purpose of the system is to produce fair playing handicaps that are adjusted to the relative difficulty of the course being played and to achieve equity and uniformity of handicapping for the Club. The Handicap system is based on the Stableford point table: Bogie = 1 point Par = 2 points Birdie = 3 points Eagle = 4 points Albatross = 5 points Stableford points are calculated for each hole based on the player's handicap. The Club has established a *Buffer Zone for the Handicap calculation: If you score less than the Buffer Zone points your handicap will go up and conversely if you score more than the buffer zone your handicap will be lowered. 2 The Club's established maximum course handicap for both men and women is 36.4 Establishing a Handicap In order to obtain a Club handicap index a player must first join the Club. The Club Committee will post the player's scores. These scores are subject to committee review. New members who do not have a verifiable handicap must submit five scores at which time the Club will issue an initial Handicap Index in accordance with the USGA Handicap System. For players with an existing handicap index which can be verified or substantiated by another Club member shall be allowed to enter the competition and are exempt from establishing a new handicap. Members of Chiang Mai Social Golfers who wish to join Sanuk Sabai Golfers may do so without having to establish a new handicap. Both Clubs use the same handicapping system thereby allowing CMSG handicaps to be accepted. Competition Eligibility Must be an active member of the Club. Must have a valid handicap assigned by the Club. If a member has not played with the club during the last 12 months, they must reestablish their handicap by either providing an alternative verifiable handicap, or by submitting 5 scorecards. Exceptions to this rule may be allowed at the discretion of the Committee. Guests are welcomed to play at any event but are subject to the following: (1) they must be signed in by a member. (2) they are not eligible to enter the competitions. Competition Format(s) Formats are generally either Stableford or Net Stroke Play. However, on occasion the course captain or Committee may introduce other formats which may include individual or team events. Winnings Venue & Presentation Immediately following any competition the winnings presentation will be made at the designated '19th Hole': Location of these venues may

3 change from time to time at the discretion of the course captain or Committee. If a participant does not attend the presentation, the course captain shall retain the winnings for at least one week. If the winnings are not claimed by the following week's competition then the winnings may be forfeited, however, the course captain should make every effort to award the winnings, and may, at the course captain s discretion, hold the winnings for delivery at a later time. Any winnings that are not collected will be forfeited to the Treasury. Scorecards Prior to the round all cards shall be filled out with the player's name, handicap, and date. Players are required to exchange cards for recording purposes. The marker shall print their name and keep their score at the bottom of the player's card they are marking. Players are responsible only for recording the correct score for each hole. Recorded scores must be legible. After the round both the marker and the player will verify that the scores are correct and both will sign the card. Once submitted the course captain will check the card for accuracy. Scorecards should be legible. If an incorrect scorecard is turned in or the card is not signed by both the player and marker and or is not legible then it may be subject to disqualification (DQ) according to the rules of golf. Scoring Regarding the recording of scores in Stableford. If during a hole a player has exceeded the number of strokes that would award a point then they may elect to pick up and not finish the hole. This should be indicated as an x for that hole on the card. This will allow for faster play. However, in Stroke Play everyone must putt out regardless of the number of strokes taken. Failure to finish the hole results in disqualification (DQ). Resolving Ties For Tournaments To determine a Tournament Champion ties shall be decided by using the count back system.

4 Under the Net Stroke Play Format the winner will be determined on the basis of the best net score for the last nine holes (10 18.) If the tying players have the same score for the last nine holes, then the best net score on the last six holes (13 18,) then the last three holes (16 18,) and finally the best net score on the 18 th hole. If still tied then winner decided by coin toss. Under Stableford Points Format the winner will be determined on the basis of the most stableford points for the last nine holes (10-18.) If the tying players have the same points for the last nine, then the most stableford points on the last six holes (13-18,) then the last three holes (16-18,) and finally the most stableford points on the 18 th hole. If still tied then winner decided by coin toss. Under the Club's usual weekly competitions ties are not resolved rather they are shared and the winnings are combined and spit evenly. Club Tournaments The Club may sponsor and or participate in Sanctioned Tournaments with other area Golf Clubs and Societies. Only active members of Sanuk Sabai are eligible to enter. The Club shall host an Annual Club Championship Tournament with the date determined by the Committee. Course Etiquette and Conduct It is the duty of every member to preserve the reputation of the Club by: (1) Maintaining the spirit of good fellowship between them and other members. (2) Extend the hand of welcome to all guests. Turn up for competition at least one half hour before tee-off. Be considerate of others; no talking or noise while others playing a shot, play in turn & don t get in front of play, no undue slow play. Know the rules and abide by them or ask for confirmation within your group. No extreme course or equipment abuse will be tolerated. Any physical or verbal abuse of a caddy will not be tolerated and may be subject to sanction including dismissal from the Club. Observe all rules/regulations of the course unless otherwise changed by the course captain.

5 Local Competition Rules Local Rules, such as preferred lies, may be invoked by the course captain. Any local rules shall be communicated to all competitors prior to the start of any Club competition.
