23 Golf Categories - Individual Stableford Division 1 - Individual Stableford Division 2 - Team Stableford - Hole Competitions Closest to the pin on all par-3 holes Closest to the pin in 2 strokes (this applies only to the shortest par-4 hole) Longest drive (this applies only to the longest par-5 hole) General Rules The Royal & Ancient Rules of Golf will apply, refer to website below Local course rules will also apply. The tee boxes to be used will be the competition tees of the day. Other local modifications to these rules are stated in the rest of this section Selection of Overall Team Champion For each event included above (excluding hole competitions), the following points will be awarded: 1 st place 10 pts 2 nd place 6 pts 3 rd place 4 pts 4 th place 3 pts 5 th place 2 pts 6 th place 1 pt In the case of a tie for any of the placings on each event, the tie/s will be broken on the basis of the following provisions, with preference given in the following order until the tie is broken: Most Stableford points for the back 9 (holes 10-18) Most Stableford points in the last 6 holes (holes 13-18) Most Stableford points in the last 3 holes (holes 16-18) Count back from the 18 th hole (even if the 18 th is not the last hole played) using Stableford points per hole. In the individual events, the above provision will be applied to the 2 nd round points in the 1 st instance, if there is still a tie, then the 1 st round scores will be used to break the tie. All the points garnered by individual players and teams for each City will be tallied. The City with the most points will be declared the overall winner. Only the top 3 placings will count to the reckoning of the winner of the Wellington Filipino Sports Cup. FFASCNZI Sports Rules 2016 Edition 23
24 In the event of a tie in points for the overall winner, or any subsequent position, the tie will be broken on the basis of the following provisions, with preference given in the following order until the tie is broken: Highest finishing position(s). Most wins, most seconds, third placing, etc Best Stableford scoring average (team total Stableford points / number of players) Lowest handicap average (team total course handicap / number of players) Tournament Format 1. Individual Stableford Division 1 This event is played over 2 rounds of golf, total Stableford points over 2 rounds. Individual entries are ranked by handicap index. Players belonging to the top half of handicap rankings will play this division. Points earned from the Team Stableford (played in 2 nd round) will be added here. 2. Individual Stableford Division 2 This event is played over 2 rounds of golf, total Stableford points over 2 rounds.individual entries are ranked by handicap index. Players belonging to the bottom half of handicap rankings will play this division. Points earned from the Team Stableford (played in 2 nd round) will be added here. 3. Team Stableford This event is played over one (1) round only. Each city can enter as many teams of 4 as they can form; a team can consist of only 3 players. The best 3 (out of 4) Stableford points for each hole will count to the team s total Stableford points for the round. Note: If a golfer is only playing in this event, he will not be able to participate in either Individual Stableford Division 1 or Individual Stableford Division 2 event. The Sunday round scores serves two purposes: 1. Stableford points earned by each player counts to his Stableford total for individual competitions (this is his 2 nd round points, added to his 1 st round points). 2. If the player is a member of a team, the player s Stableford points per hole will be included in computing the team s total Stableford points. 4. Hole Competitions Closest to the pin on all par 3 holes Closest to the pin in 2 strokes (this applies only to the shortest par 4 hole) Longest drive (this applies to the longest par 5 hole) Handicaps For players with NZGA handicap, their official NZGA handicap will be used. For purposes of dividing the players/entries into 2 divisions using handicap index, the handicaps as at 10 calendar days before the start of the tournament will be used, so that we can form the divisions and advise the players what division they re playing early. This official NZGA handicap index will be used to determine the course handicaps. FFASCNZI Sports Rules 2016 Edition 24
25 For players without an NZGA handicap, they must state & nominate a handicap. This will be the lowest handicap that has been assessed to the player for their local tournaments (e.g. Auckland and Wellington golfers hold monthly tournaments amongst them). If no handicap has been assessed, the maximum allowed is 24 (play in Division 2 only). Non-NZGA handicaps will also be the course handicaps; NO adjustment is made depending on course slope rating. The organisers reserve the right to exclude entries from the individual and team competitions if no basis can be established for the handicap. The player/s can, however, participate in the hole competitions. Format/Rules This is a Stableford points event. Each player will submit his card, signed by both the player and the marker. The Stableford points need to be computed/marked. The scores will be entered into a spreadsheet that will calculate/validate the Stableford points. Awards The points earned from three (3) Stableford events will be accumulated and summarized by city being represented by the team or individual. The top three (3) cities with the highest cumulative totals will be awarded 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place finishes. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the individual and team Stableford events. Trophies will be awarded to top three (3) for Team Stableford. Also for the 1 st place, each team member will receive a medal. Trophies will be awarded to 1 st places ONLY for Individual Stableford Division 1 & 2. Special prizes will be given to the winners of each hole competition. The Federation Golf Shield will be awarded to the club, society or sporting group that garnered the most number of first-place finishes across all golf categories, excluding hole competitions.
