Why Play Golf Golf is one of the best and safest sports a child can play. Golf has a long history and reputation of promoting sportsmanship, etiquette, obeying rules, self discipline and healthy activity. These attributes exist at all levels of the sport, from grassroots level through to elite competition. Junior tournaments and coaching provide a grounding that instils confidence and self belief which children take with them to adulthood. Golf gives the opportunity for people of varying strengths, ages, sizes and abilities to compete and enjoy a sport on a level playing field. Very few, if any sports, cater for everyone like golf does. GV Golf Junior Club gives your child the opportunity to be taught the correct methods and etiquette of the game of golf. By enrolling your child you will be giving them a gift that they will be able to utilise and enjoy for a lifetime. Mooroopna Golf Club recognises that today's Juniors are the future of our Club and this is why our program has been carefully developed for children of all ages and abilities. Children as young as three can pick up a club for the first time and begin a lifelong obsession that is enjoyed all over the world. Our exciting Learn Golf Program is modified to suit the youth of the game allowing an easy introduction, based on fun for all skill levels, in a safe environment. Golf is a game that the whole family can enjoy. Whether it be played socially or competitively it is always a fun way to spend time together. Mooroopna Golf Club is looking forward to catering for your child's needs and we know this program can set them on a life long pathway to enjoyment and friendship.
Future Vision Mooroopna Golf Club has recently undergone some changes to its operations and services and soon new facility upgrades will also be available. The Club is placed in a strong position and your child can learn and play with the following benefits: Easy to access practice facilities Easy to play golf course Easy to access golf course Affordable membership options Ongoing club and association support
Introduction The Simple Approach The GV Golf Junior Program has been designed with the aim of teaching Juniors the game of golf. It is also designed with the aim of developing the following core values: Honesty Integrity Sportsmanship Respect Confidence Responsibility Perseverance Courtesy Primarily there two stages to the Junior Club Program Learn Program (Age Based) Advance Cadet Program (Skill Based)
Learn Golf Entry Learn Programs - via the Australian MYGolf program Cubs is aimed at the youngest golfers, aged 3 to 5 years. Through fun and enjoyable golf games, they ll learn basic skills and get to interact with other children of a similar age group who are also new to golf. The Cub's program runs for 6 consecutive weeks with 30 minute group lessons each week. Each class is limited to 10 children and the program cost is $30 for the term (6 lessons). Tigers is aimed at the junior golfer aged 6 to 10 years old or who has advanced from the Cub's classes. It is specifically designed to create confident young golfers and encourage them to see golf as a life-long sport. Each Junior will learn the basics in a relaxed and fun environment with a strong emphasis on interactive learning through target based games. The Tigers program runs for 6 weeks with a 1 hour group lesson each week. Each class is limited to 15 children and the cost is $50 for the term (6 lessons). Lions is aimed at the junior golfer 10yrs and older. Here they will understand the basic principles of learning golf through a series of fast track learning skills and the use of training aids to develop a future playing attitude. The Lions program runs for 6 weeks with a 1 hour group lesson each week. Each class is limited to 15 children and the cost is $60 for the term (6 lessons).
Cadet s Program C Grade is the advanced class for those who have qualified through attending the entry learn classes. Learning simple golf course play whilst improving their ball striking skills is paramount to this learning phase. *The Eagles program runs weekly. Each class has affordable weekly costs with coaching conducted mid week. *Eagles play 3 holes on the course as per the Eagles play rules sheet B Grade is designed to sharpen skills and broaden the child s golf knowledge, the thinking and planning of the game is introduced. Pre-shot routines will be applied with an overall focus on learning to play. Juniors will have a sound knowledge of each aspect of the game and learning to apply this knowledge to the course is the objective. *The Bears program runs weekly. Each class cost is $5.00 conducted mid week. *The Bears play 6 holes on the course as per the Bears play rules sheet costs $5 per game A Grade are for the advanced junior who has progressed through the full program or shows adequate ability through previous experience. Video and more in depth techniques will be applied and tested regularly. A particular level of Maturity must be evident as they will need to understand golf etiquette as they will be playing the full golf course and eventually playing AGU/WGA events and competitions. They will learn how to keep simple stats and learn how to assess their strength and weaknesses from these. The course they play is lengthened as they improve their skills and reach qualifying targets. A practice routine is introduced for Sharks as it is helpful for them to be practicing specific skills at this stage. *The Sharks program runs weekly and forms part of a squad training criteria. Each class cost is $5.00 conducted mid week *Sharks play 9 or 18 holes depending on skill level as per the Sharks rules sheet

Pathways The pyramid illustrates a career pathway from raw beginnings through to playing Professional. No matter where your child ambitions may lay, simply starting and playing is a gift that will stay with them forever! Entry Learn to Play Class Ricky Fowler - Tour Professional
Code of Conduct We encourage our Juniors to follow these behaviors both on and off the golf course. RESPECT FOR MYSELF I will dress neatly and wear golf or athletic shoes I will always try my best when I play or practice I will apply a fun positive attitude I will be physically active, drink plenty of water, wear a hat and apply sunscreen I will be honest at all times, including when I keep score and if I break a golf rule. I will obey the golf course etiquette always RESPECT FOR OTHERS I will follow all instructions and safety rules I will practice and play with my fellow golfers as a team I will be friendly, courteous and helpful I will remain still and quiet while others are playing and have fun without being disruptive I will be a good sport toward others whether I win or lose RESPECT FOR SURROUNDINGS I will keep the golf course and practice areas clean and remove my rubbish I will clean and take care of mine and others golf equipment I will be careful not to damage or disrespect anything that belongs to others
Parents Guide For parents of young golfers, you can have a significant influence on whether your child plays the game of golf. There are many ways to approach introducing golf to your child but the #1 truism is that if your child doesn t have fun they will not want to play the game. Parents are encouraged to stay and participate in your child's learning. The joy children have if parents or close family/friends are watching when they perform their first skills can be very powerful. Mooroopna Golf Club have a variety of viewing locations. Depending where your child(s) may be practising, it is possible to sit in or around the clubhouse, enjoy a coffee and mingle amongst other parents. Golf is a game where allocation of time can differ from each level. 3 holes to play will take approximately 45 minutes and the 9 hole juniors can take two hours or more. We ask that children either use their own proper junior golf clubs or borrow ours. Clubs too long, heavy and rigid can have dramatic negative effects on your child's performance. Children's clubs are like shoes, they need to fit to be comfortable. Parents who actively involve themselves also need to be sun smart, hydrated and wear comfortable footwear Enjoy the experience!!
How to Become Involved Where to Now? The simple way to get started is to book your child in for their first learn class. Once registered we place your child in the best group for them based on their age and any friends that may also be enrolled. Better still organise a few friends and get them to start together. All equipment, hire clubs and information is supplied. Our entry level programs are affordable and you have nothing to lose by simply giving it a go. We look forward to seeing you soon! If you would like further information or to receive an enrollment form please contact us: Mooroopna Golf Pro Shop 2 Fairway Drive, Mooroopna, 3629 Ph: M: E: proshop@mooroopnagolfclub.com.au Proudly supported by,
