4 THE BEACH CLUB From this cedar-shingled retreat designed by famed architect Robert A.M. Stern, Members can revel in some of the Island s most dazzling assets surf, sand, and sun. Enjoy an ocean swim on a secluded beach, a dip in the heated junior Olympic pool, adult pool, or baby pool. Dine on the patio of Tides Restaurant or the seasonal Summerhouse, take a picnic back to the beach, or come inside for a seaside breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Men s and women s locker rooms provide a comfortable transition from beach to casual and elegant indoor dining.

5 THE RIVER COURSE CLUBHOUSE This stunning edifice, redesigned through the collective efforts of the Kiawah Partners Development Team, captures the essence of the Island. Members wind through grand live oaks to a Clubhouse adorned with a shingle-style slate roof, a stately, columned entry, and the revered River Course clock overlooking the 18th green. The Clubhouse is replete with floor-to-ceiling windows, a 5,000-sq. ft. ballroom, and wrapped with generous porch space that invites Members to mingle or bask in Lowcountry sunsets. Amenities such as the River Room pub and dining room, expanded men s and women s locker rooms, golf shop, fitness room, and the adjacent red-clay tennis courts provide endless opportunities for memory making on this enchanted Island.

6 RIVER COURSE The Club s first course stretches across 300-plus acres of gorgeous emerald terrain. Designed by Tom Fazio, the par-72 course was ranked one of Golfweek s Top 100 in 2011 and Picturesque marsh savannas, ponds, and vaulting maritime forests provide a backdrop for the fairways and greens, and several magnificent holes play along the drama of the Kiawah River s edge.

7 CASSIQUE CLUBHOUSE A winding drive adorned with native grasses and hundreds of cedar trees leads to the centerpiece of the Cassique community. Designer Bernard Wharton, of Shope, Reno, and Wharton drew inspiration from renowned 19th-century British architect Charles F.A. Voysey in designing a Clubhouse in harmony with the tranquil Lowcountry landscape surrounding it. Members enjoy fine dining at Voysey s, a private restaurant and pub, with an exclusive menu designed and refined by Tom Colicchio, creator of Manhattan s famed Gramercy Tavern and Craft restaurants. With its striking zinc bar and intimate atmosphere, the downstairs bar at Cassique, Tom s, is a popular spot serving crafted cocktails and inventive small plates. In addition, Members have access to rooms for private dinners or functions, elaborate locker facilities, a snack bar, and a full-service golf shop.

8 CASSIQUE COURSE Five-time British Open champion Tom Watson designed this classic seaside links course with sections exposed to ocean breezes that encourage creative play to handle the conditions on any given day. The 6,960-yard course arose under Watson s hand from ancient agricultural fields and runs through dense forests along marshes where the Kiawah River meets the Atlantic Ocean. The course hosted the 2003 Palmer Cup, 2004 UBS Cup, and 2009 USGA Mid-Am. It has consistently been ranked on Golf Digest s list of Top 100 Modern Courses.

9 SASANQUA SPA Rejuvenation, pampering, and serenity are specialties of the house here. All treatments, from holistic-based therapies to unique spa packages, were created specifically for The Kiawah Island Club. Details such as aromatherapy towels, herbal teas, and products culled from Island biota promise to reawaken your world-weary senses. Our full-service salon focuses on head-to-toe beauty, specializing in haircuts, styling, makeup application, manicures, and pedicures. Sasanqua, designed by Clodagh and located next to the River Course, features seven treatment rooms with inspiring views to encourage connection with nature. Designed by Thomas & Denzinger Architects, Marsh House and its infinity pool serves as a window to Ocean Park s vast southern marsh, The Ocean Course golf course, and the Atlantic beyond. Members are drawn to the delicious specialty cocktails, lunch menu featuring hot paninis and fresh salads, and salty cool breeze over the marsh. Marsh House also hosts a variety of outdoor culinaryinspired events like oyster roasts, shrimp boils, cookouts, and even a televised cooking competition. Members with shared interests unite for a wealth of inspired programming and off-island activities designed to engage and inspire. Our Behind the Line series and culinary excursions to downtown Charleston bring our culinaryminded Members together. Day Camp, Sports Camp, and spirited off-island excursions expand on social opportunities for kids and teens drawn together by mutual interests and the youthful pursuit of endless adventure. GoKiawah s ever-expanding offerings evolve based on the desires of Club Members. HIGHLIGHTS OF GOKIAWAH INCLUDE: GOKIDS: Programming for the youngest Members fosters lifelong friendships. Kid Zone, hosted on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the summer, specializes in innovative kids-only entertainment from rock-climbing walls to laser tag, from video gaming to jump castles. In addition, full-day camps, sports clinics, and beachside fun unfold throughout the summer and holiday weekends. BOATING: Our full-time captain commandeers charter fishing excursions and unforgettable cruises celebrating Kiawah s bounty of waterways. From the deck of the Club s 28-foot Scout, Members commune for daytime eco cruises, sunset cruises, cocktail parties, and Charleston Harbor tours, each showcasing a backdrop of our extraordinary Lowcountry shores. PADDLING: From the romance of full moon kayaking and paddle boarding, to the nature-inspired wonder of an eco kayak adventure, the Island s rivers and marshlands set the stage for magnificent experiences on the water, all launching from the Cassique Dock and Boathouse.

14 KIAWAH ISLAND CLUB LIFE GOKIAWAH BOAT CLUB There is no shortage of beauty to be found on Kiawah Island and the surrounding areas. The GoKiawah Boat Club allows this beauty to be seen and experienced from another angle: the Lowcountry waterways. Members are able to spend uninterrupted time on the water with their families, and can fish or relax in the summer sun. Members may reserve a Club boat at their leisure, and Members who already own a boat can utilize the Club to support day-today ownership responsibilities like cleaning, fueling, and minor repairs. The Kiawah Island Boat Club offers two categories of Membership: Membership Level and Concierge Level. MEMBERSHIP LEVEL: The Membership Level is ideal for those Members who do not own a boat and wish to conveniently reserve a boat from the Club s fleet, located nearby at Rhett s Bluff, for fishing, water sports, and cruising. CONCIERGE LEVEL: The Concierge Level of membership is ideal for Members who would like to use their own boats, but with a Club-level of support with services like launching and retrieving, cleaning, and minor maintenance and repairs.

15 KIAWAH ISLAND CLUB LIFE GOLF INSTRUCTION Individual and group instruction for players of all ages and skill levels are led by Carol Preisinger, a GOLF Magazine Top 100 Teacher, and an elite staff of professionals. The menu includes clinics, golf schools, and junior programs. Trained PGA pros and assistants provide instruction at each of our two golf facilities and Golf Learning Center. CADDIE PROGRAM The River Course and Cassique place a premium on high caliber caddies who enhance every hole of play. Our program manager, Caddy Services, Inc., also runs programs at esteemed clubs including Augusta National and Pebble Beach. GOLF AND SOCIAL EVENTS Club Members find that their social calendars fill up quickly. Golfers are paired for weekly play and annual Member tournaments. Golf is only the beginning of the social opportunities that include monthly Member Mingles, yoga, aqua aerobics, book and bridge clubs. Members also gather for annual events including Rhythm on the River, the July 3rd Extravaganza, and the New Year s Eve Bash. PRIVATE EVENTS Corporate retreats. Inspired Island weddings. 16 KIAWAH ISLAND CLUB LIFE KIAWAH ISLAND SPORTING CLUB Tucked away on an 885-acre plantation is the Kiawah Island Sporting Club. Located just minutes from Freshfields Village, a full time shooting professional ensures the safety and enjoyment of Members while they perfect their clay target shooting skills. Members are provided with guns and protective eye and ear wear. Private and group lessons are available for every skill level and age. Even if not planning to shoot, friends and family are encouraged to come watch from rocking chairs on the venue s open porch. THE SPORTING CLUB OFFERS THESE DIFFERENT STYLES OF SHOOTING SKEET In English skeet, the gun position is optional (i.e., pre-mounted or out-of-shoulder when the target is called) and the targets are released immediately upon the shooter s call. TRAP Traps are purpose-made, spring-loaded, flywheel or rotational devices especially designed to launch the different types of targets in singles or pairs at distances of up to 100 meters. FIVE STAND Five Stand is very similar to Sporting Clays in that a wide variety of targets are thrown. No two five-stands are exactly alike. There are five stands or stations to shoot from. There are usually somewhere between 6 and 8 traps that throw targets. Participants shoot in turn at each of the five stands and various combinations of targets are thrown from the traps. SPORTING CLAYS Of all shotgun sports, Sporting Clays most closely resembles field shooting. Some clays may fly from a clump of bushes, while others might roll across the ground, jumping unpredictably, to simulate a rabbit on the run. Kiawah Island Sporting Club offers a ten station course with two traps at each, presenting a new challenge from the station before.
