4 Local and Course Rules To be read in conjunc on with the rules of golf and any temporary rules on the club no ce board. Out of Bounds: All course boundary fences, and white pegs 1/10, 6/15, 8/17, 9/18 fairways (Including path and garden to the right of No. 9 green, prac ce area and carpark; Internal out of Bounds: (Playing 18 only) White pegs through the trees at right of 18 fairway (behind 6 green) Water Hazard: Yellow pegs on 7/16 and 8/17 fairways, and river in front of 9 green. Yellow pegs 18 th fairway and creek along le of 8/17 and creek across 7/16 and 8/17. Lateral Water Hazard: Red pegs along river 1/10 and 18 th fairway. Red pegs from drain outlet / power pole and pegged by trees down to path on le side of 6/15 fairway and le to fenceline up to 7 th tee. Young Trees: If orange staked tree, or other staked protected tree interferes with stance or swing, the ball must be dropped without penalty, within one club length not nearer the hole, from nearest point of relief. Paths, Tractor Tracks, Rabbit Scrapes: A ball on any formed path, tractor tracks or rabbit scrape anywhere on the course, OTHER THAN A HAZARD, may be li ed and dropped within one club length without penalty at a point of nearest relief not nearer the hole. Refer to rule 25 Excep ons. Power Lines: If a ball strikes any power lines it must be replayed without penalty. Immovable Obstruc ons: All sprinkler heads and tap covers, pump shed and the internal out of bounds pegs when playing holes 6/15 and 9 are deemed immovable obstruc ons. Relief rule 24-2b. Gardens: There are no free drops on any gardens or barked areas on the course. The ball must be played as it lies or deemed unplayable (Rule 28) and a one-shot penalty taken.

5 Placing: When permi ed, 15cm placing on own fairway, not nearer the hole. Slow Play:Players who lose ONE clear hole on the rest of the field MUST call following players through (Irrespec ve of number of players following). Walk quickly between shots, don t loiter around the greens. Measuring Devices: For all compe on play on this course a player may obtain informa on from devices that measure distance only. If during a s pulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other condi ons that might affect his / her play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of rule 14-3, for which the penalty is loss of hole in matchplay or 2 strokes in stroke play. The penalty for any subsequent breach of rule 14-3 is disqualifica on, regardless of whether any such addi onal func on is actually used. One prac ce which is regularly overlooked by players is that of repairing ball marks on the green. It is easy to repair these with a tee or tool and save someone else a bad line to the hole. Handicapping All cards MUST be filled in fully. This means dated, compe on names (if any), correct gross score entered for each hole, signed by both player and scorer, correct player number and player handicap index. In a compe on, to assist the match officials with compiling prompt results, players should add up the gross score and scores for any other type of compe on being played. ANY PLAYER AWAITING A HANDICAP MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 5 CARDS TO GET AN INITIAL HANDICAP. This is assessed on the best 5 cards. A true handicap does not come un l 6 cards have been returned. All matchplay cards must be handed in as well. This is due to NZ Golf Associa on requiring true and correct records of any game played whether it be stroke or matchplay. This means that when you have played 13 holes in matchplay compe on and your match finished there, that

6 card has become a valid card for handicapping. As such a player should fill out his / her correct member details and have a marker sign it even when there are s ll holes not played. Once that card has been filled in the handicapper of that club will average the remaining holes, in accordance to that player s handicap. Failure to return cards does not mean that your handicap will remain sta c. Anyone trying to manipulate the system may, at the discre on of the handicap commi ee, have his or her handicap changed. Remember although you may feel your handicap is wrong, it is assessed by the standard system used throughout New Zealand and returns a handicap rated on the cards you return. Acceptable cards for handicapping purposes are as follows: If you play 7-12 holes, enter a 9 hole score; If you play 13 or more holes enter an 18 hole score; Course Management The course is maintained, managed and upgraded by Nelson City Council so any queries or sugges ons related to the course must be passed on to any of the sec on commi ees within the club. These commi ees will then pass these on to the representa ves on the Greens commi ee who will bring it to the Greens mee ng. Playing Seasons & Rights The official club season is from 01 April to 31 October of each year (Winter Season). During this me the club has rights to the course from 10:00am to 2:00pm each urday. Start sheets are available usually a week in advance to enable players to put their names down and each rsday. Depending on numbers the draw may be ed prior to urday s match of the day or alterna vely decided on the morning of the compe on. All players must report to the starter a minimum of 20 minutes prior to the first tee me. The Golden oldies sec on have their own playing day on rsday. There is a 9-hole compe on open to all members on sday and urday a ernoons with tee mes varying depending on the season. For more

7 informa on contact a member of your relevant sec on commi ee or the Management Commi ee. Cart Use Policy All players wishing to use a cart in the Men s club compe ons must provide a medical cer ficate to either the men s captain, his representa ve or the starter prior to play. The cer ficate must state the period it is valid for, with start and end dates. The end date may be subs tuted with Indefinite if the player has an ongoing illness or ailment that is permanent or likely to last beyond a 12 month period. In the event of adverse ground condi ons on a compe on day, the final decision on cart use will be determined by the greenkeeper, the course manager or the match commi ee. Those who would normally use a cart for play on a day where cart use is restricted or not allowed may elect to walk the course at their discre on. Some days may require certain restric ons on cart use and it is appreciated if you adhere to the condi ons setout by the match commi ee prior to play. This may include (but is not limited to) requiring carts to travel only in the rough, restric ons on taking carts up the hill on 4/13 or other exclusions as announced or marked on the course. The match commi ee reserves the right to disqualify any cart user from any compe on who knowingly or otherwise breaches these restric ons. Cart Hire All persons who drive a motorised golf cart on the golf course must be at least 18 years of age and hold a full car driver s licence. There is a maximum of two persons allowed per cart. Unless previously booked through the club manager or pro-shop, cart use is on a first come first served basis. Prompt payment is to be made to the club manager or through the pro-shop. Carts are to be driven carefully and any problems reported immediately. When finished the cart must be returned to the pro-shop or plugged in to recharge if the ba ery indicator is showing less than 1/3 ba ery life remaining.

8 Men s Compe ons C&F Legal Club Championships: Top 8 gross scores in each grade qualify for a matchplay compe on. All subsequent matches are 18 hole matchplay off the s ck with the finals played over 36 holes (Excluding Junior B Division played over 18 holes only). Qualifying for Club Championships: 3 rounds to play with the best 2 of the 3 qualifying. To be played on specific days as per the programme. Total Golf Maitai Masters: 27 hole stroke play tournament with a handicap limit of 24 to apply. Sudden death play off if required. Cap-it-all Promo ons Trophy: Played over 2 rounds with your own selected partner. First round is a 4-Ball best ball format and second round individual stroke with an aggregate score to count towards trophy. Sudden death playoff if required. Individual Matchplay Trophy: To be played on handicap. All matched to be played on specified days. C&F Legal Stroke: Played over two rounds with both scores coun ng towards the trophy. Best Ne over all grades. Worley Trophy: 18 Hole stroke play on handicap. Entrants must be 55 years or older on the day of the compe on. Pu off if required. Brebde Senior / Junior: Matchplay on handicap with drawn partners. All matches to be played on specified days. Barkman Trophy: To be played during the winter season on all rounds where there is no matchplay compe on. Points are awarded to all players from match of the day rankings. Player of the Year: Points awarded to players over all men s compe - ons, except Worley Trophy, over the course of the season. The winner is the person who accumulates the most points. Shootout: Best 8 rounds of 12 count towards a ranking table based off ne scores on each round. Top 10 qualifiers play a 9-hole knockout to determine final ranking and the winner. Fedex: Played over the summer season with points awarded in accordance with the Barkman Trophy.
