Apache Stronghold and Valseur Lido are closely matched on their latest running at Leopardstown and look capable of having a big say, though both lack the strong Festival form of VAUTOUR. Willie Mullins' charge was mightily impressive when landing last year's Supreme by six lengths and although his chasing career suffered a slight setback when he blundered at Leopardstown on Boxing Day, he improved for the step up in distance when scoring over 2m3f at the same track last time. 3 ATR VERDICT: Last year's runner-up Hidden Cyclone is arriving in good heart after brushing aside four opponents in the Grade 2 Tied Cottage Chase at Punchestown and he would be a very popular winner for Shark Hanlon, while Ma Filleule is fancied to reverse Ascot Chase form with Balder Succes (Ballycasey third) with this undulating track and faster ground more to her liking. Uxizandre should give it a real good go from the front end, but DON COSSACK looks like the one that they all have to beat. Gordon Elliott's star gelding still held every chance when crashing out at the 14th fence in last season's RSA and he has looked an ever better horse this term, winning all four starts with relative ease. He can prove the doubters wrong and win his first race going left-handed, with Foxrock and course specialist Johns Spirit adding further spice to a compelling renewal. 4 ATR VERDICT: Zarkandar, Reve De Sivola, Saphir Du Rheu and Un Temps Pour Tout are all closely matched on recent form and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if any of that quartet were to land the spoils. Blue Fashion and Whisper are other strong English challengers, the latter particularly interesting having won last season's Coral Cup here. However, like two years ago with Solwhit, this prize good be heading across the Irish Sea courtesy of LIEUTENANT COLONEL. The Kayf Tara gelding is an extremely likeable sort who never seems to run a bad race and he showed he handles the undulations of Prestbury Park when sixth behind the mighty Faugheen in last season's Neptune. He has found another gear this season, beating Jetson to a couple of Grade 1 prizes, and can provide the Hughes family with a fairytale result. Jetson could be the one who is overpriced given that he has run the selection close on his last couple of outings, while Blue Fashion must have a chance with the form of both of his UK performances looking rock-solid.
