3 Pegasus module fitment instructions Scope This document shows how the Pegasus-G and Pegasus-S units are fitted to the horse and riders depending on the activity for which the user is recording data. Following the instructions in this manual will ensure that consistent and reliable motion data is captured for later analysis. Recording situations There are generally three types of situations that will be used for collection of horse motion data. These are; 1. Horse and rider: Pegasus-G unit fitted on to the horse, Pegasus-S unit fitted onto the rider. 2. Horse Lunging (no rider): Pegasus-G and Pegasus-S units are fitted onto the horse. 3. Horse on Treadmill: Only Pegasus-G unit fitted onto the horse. The Pegasus-S unit is not required. Note: When the Pegasus-S unit is used, options 1 and 2 above, all recording of horse motion has to be carried out outdoors. If the Pegasus-S unit is used indoors, the signal strength will be poor, it depends on the construction of the indoor arena.

4 Horse and rider. This section covers the horse and rider scenario where the horse is being ridden overland or in a outside ménage or lunging circle. It has been assumed that you have already synchronised the units. If you don t understand what this means please refer back to the instruction manual, because you will not record correct information and your time would have been wated. Equipment The equipment needed is described below (units already synchronised); 1. Brushing Boot complete with a pocket for the Pegasus-G unit. 2. Pegasus-G unit. 3. Pegasus-S Unit 4. Skull Cap for Pegasus-S unit. 5. Lunging numnah (optional extra) Fitting Instructions. 1. Switch the Pegasus-S unit on and wait until the blue light is flashing quickly, which means it is ready and collecting data. Now place the unit into the pocket on the skull cap ensuring that the S label is pointing upwards to the top of the skull cap (figure 3). When you insert the Pegasus-S unit, it goes in to the pouch upside down. Slide the unit fully in to the pocket and close the flap. The skull cap can now be fitted to the rider. 2. Place a Pegasus-G unit into the pocket of the brushing boot and activate it by pressing the button, (figure 1). Ensure that the green light is flashing. Slide the unit fully into the pocket and close the flap. 3. Fasten the brushing boot to the front left leg, ensuring the straps are secure and the Pegasus-G unit is in position. (figure 2). It is suggested that the other supplied brushing boot is fitted to the front right leg to maintain balance, but it is not necessary. 4. The system is now ready for use. 5. When the test is completed switch both units off. Download the data on the laptop.

5 Horse Lunging (no rider) This section covers horse lunging (no rider) in an outside ménage or lunging circle. Pegasus-G and Pegasus-S units are fitted onto the horse. Equipment The equipment needed is described as follows; 1. Brushing Boot complete with a pocket for the Pegasus-G unit. 2. Pegasus-G unit. 3. Numnah with pocket attached, this is an extra item that can be purchased from ETB. 4. Pegasus-S unit. Fitting Instructions. 1. Switch the Pegasus-S unit on and wait until the blue light is flashing quickly, which means it is ready and collecting data. Now place the unit into the pocket on the numnah ensuring that the S label is pointing upwards to the top (figure 5). Slide the unit fully in to the pocket and close the flap. 2. Place a Pegasus-G unit into the pocket of the brushing boot and activate it by pressing the button, (figure 1). Slide the unit fully into the pocket and close the flap. 3. Fasten the brushing boot to the front left leg, ensuring that the straps secure the Pegasus-G unit in position. (figure 2). It is suggested that the other supplied brushing boot is fitted to the front right leg, but it is not necessary. 4. Place a roller or surcingle around the horse and tighten, ensuring the Pegasus-S unit is resting on the horses back. Then fasten the elastic strap to hold down the Pegasus-S unit onto the horse, preventing it from moving. 5. The system is now ready for use. 6. When the test is completed switch both units off.
