Career: Dale is the son of longtime Michigan-based conditioner Gerald Bennett. Bow Tie Pasta went on to be named Illinois Champion 3-Year-Old Filly. Career: The son of a harness horseman, Dorris grew up in Herrin, Illinois. His father raised pacers and raced them on the downstate fair circuit, but when the time came to go out on his own, Tom turned to Thoroughbreds. He purchased his first Thoroughbred when he was 19 and he raced at the downstate fairs and at Ellis Park in Henderson, Kentucky. He came to Chicago for the first time in the late 1970s. He and his wife, Judy, have a farm in West Frankfort, Illinois, and his son, Chris, also trains on the Illinois-Kentucky circuit. Most of his success has come in claiming races and with Illinoisbred horses. He captured his first training title at Hawthorne Race Course in He is a consistent top 20 performer on the Chicago circuit. He won the 2001 Isaac Murphy Handicap with Rain Boots. He got his first taste of horse racing at age 15 when he went to the old Phoenix Fair Grounds. He fell in love with the sport and traded two brown Swiss cows for two racehorses. After working as his dad's assistant, Maker went out on his own in In 1993 Maker began a 10-year stint with trainer D. His season was topped with a score in the Grade III Washington Park Handicap with Gran Estreno. Career: His father, George, was a jockey-turned-trainer on the south Florida circuit. Began training in 1978 when his father sent him to Tampa Bay Downs with the horses that didn t fit at the Miami tracks. He went to California in the early 1980s to continue his career and though connections established by his father and former rider Bill Hartack. He trained horses for Elmendorf Farm and Max Gluck. He returned to Florida two years later to take a job as private trainer for Meadowbrook Farm. He went back to California a short time later, began training horses for Harold Goodman and eventually became his private trainer. Trained graded stakes winners Manzotti and Two Altazano for Goodman. Stidham now trains for Goodman s son Greg, as well as for Stonerside Stable, Cobra Farm and Mike Rutherford. Mike is one of the highest percentage trainers on the Louisiana-Texas circuit.
