However, at the maiden level, a win in any race for any amount of money will be considered a win and will count against the horse s eligibility to compete in a maiden race. While a horse may no longer be considered a maiden due to winning a MB restricted race, this win will not count against the eligibility of the horse when competing against non-winners of two or three lifetime or non-winners in the year condition (except in the case of restricted MB bred races.) 11 GENERAL INFORMATION RACE OFFICE HOURS Entries open at 8:00 a.m. - * Close at 10:00 a.m. (*subject to change at discretion of race office) FOAL CERTIFICATE DATE Anytime on or before Thursday, May 5, 2016, horses will have equal dates when papers are turned into the office. They all will receive a run date of 2016/05/05. After this date, the day you hand your papers in is the run date you will receive. A horse keeps his opening day date until he races or is scratched. No papers will be accepted for horses that have not been tattooed. Coggins papers must accompany registration papers. ENTRY DATE All horses which do not get to run but enter, receive an entry date corresponding to the date on which they are entered. An entry date receives preference over a run date of the same day. SCRATCHES AND NAMING OF RIDERS No scratch time. Enter to run. At draw time there will be no open horses. Atrainer must name at least two riders at time of entry. LISTS Any horse put on a list ie. Vet, Starter, Stewards or Paddock Judges, will receive NO date when they come off any of these lists. PURSE DISTRIBUTION 1st - 60% 2nd - 20% 3rd - 10% 4th - 5% 5th - 3% 6th through last - $ MANITOBA LASIX PROGRAM The use of Lasix must be declared at time of entry and noted on the entry form. ELIMINATION OF COUPLED ENTRY RULE Please note that the rule classifying horses as a coupled entry has been eliminated. All horses owned or trained by the same person will run as uncoupled for wagering purposes only. CLAIMING If a horse is claimed and its next start is in a claiming race, it must be for a price at least 25% higher unless 10 days has elapsed since the claim, in which case it can start for any price; the 10 days shall not include the day the horse was claimed. 12 IMPORTANT NOTES The Race Secretary has the right to refuse any entry that is, in his opinion, incapable of a respectable performance. Wins not recorded on the back of the official Jockey Club registration papers will not be considered for determining eligibility or allowances. With regard to Rule 1 (gg) a recognized track means a track on which a charted line is available from either the Daily Racing Form or True Form. All races with a net value of $2,400 or less to the winners will not be considered for determining eligibility or allowances at. However, at the maiden level, a win for any amount of purse money will be considered a win and will count against the horses eligibility to compete in a maiden race. No Horse will receive a timed, registered workout unless registration papers are in the Race Office. All races not designated as fillies & mares, will be colts & geldings preferred. In all overnight races excluding maiden races, winners will be preferred unless otherwise stated in the condition of the race. Only Thoroughbreds of racing age and working pony horses are allowed on the grounds. When entering horses Owners and Trainers are cautioned to check carefully as to the eligibility of horses in their care and allowances claimed in races. Under the universal rules of racing, an owner or trainer is responsible for the weight his horse carries. The Racing Secretary will be glad to give the horsemen any information in respect to their horses that is desired, but the final responsibility rests with the owners and trainers. This race meet is being conducted with the approval of the Manitoba Horse Racing Commission, and the Rules of Racing of the Manitoba Horse Racing Commission apply to the conduct of all races and the Association conducting this meet has been licensed by the Manitoba Horse Racing Commission. The Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA) has implemented testing for the following veterinary approved anabolic steroids: boldenone, nandrolone, stanozolol and testosterone, as of June 1st, Page 11

13 IMPORTANT RULE CHANGE - WAIVER CLAIMING At the time of entry into a claiming race, the owner may opt to declare a horse ineligible to be claimed provided: 1. A horse that has not started for 180 days will now have two consecutive starts under the new waiver rule. 2. A horse that has not started for 90 days will have one start under the new waiver rule. 3. Failing to declare a horse ineligible to be claimed will result in the horse automatically being available to be claimed. Licencee s licenced in other jurisdictions who have a form registered with their home racing commissions may submit a copy if it is dated within the time period allowed. A current fire arm certificate will be accepted in lieu of disclosure of criminal background checks. Page 12

14 WORKOUTS 31(18) a) A horse that has not started for a period of 30 days or more shall not be allowed to start into a race unless it has one official recorded workout no less than 48 hours prior to the race in which it is entered of not less than three furlongs; b) A horse which has not started for a period of 45 days or more shall not be allowed to start unless 1) it has two official recorded workouts, one workout shall not be less than 4 furlongs; 2) both workouts must be within 30 days prior to the race in which it is starting c) A horse other than a first lifetime starter, which has not started for a period of one year or more shall not be eligible to start unless: 1) it has three official recorded workouts, two which shall not be less than 4 furlongs; 2) one workout must be before the Commission Veterinarian; 3) one workout must be within 45 days prior to entry; 4) two workouts must be within 30 days prior to the race in which it is entered; d) Two year olds and first lifetime starters shall not be allowed to enter unless; 1) it has two official recorded workouts, one workout shall not be less than 4 furlongs; 2) both workouts must be within 30 days prior to date of entry; e) Two year olds and first lifetime starters must have one official recorded workout from the starting gate within 60 days of entry; f) Two year olds and first lifetime starters must have gate approval prior to the race in which it is entered g) Any horse coming off the vet s list must have a 4 furlong workout approved by the Commission Veterinarian except if on the vet s list for a reason other than soundness; h) Workouts will be not be considered satisfactory, unless original registration papers have been filed with the Race Secretary at the time of the workout.
