61 Before and After: First and last day of classes Despite what the longer hair (and, this time, beards) might suggest, there are razors and hair salons and barbers everywhere in Europe! The bigger smiles, however, are something I think they definitely earned here in Salzburg. As our second program on a semester system, this was an excellent program: these students made great progress in their learning, they had great contacts in their Austrian friends and conversation partners, and we were able to make lots of new and regularly scheduled excursions. I would like to thank Christine for her fun course and for setting up the group with their conversation partners. I would also like to thank all of them for helping the OU group find a welcoming and engaging community in Salzburg. Thanks also go to Rebecca for Page 61 of 62

62 helping us out with our students' musical endeavors. Thanks as well to our regular visitors: Chelsea and Marianne, who were always a welcome presence on our trips and in a few classes too. I would also like to thank our TA Nick for being an excellent and trusted guide for the group and wish him the best in Germany next year! Finally, thanks to all the students for your enthusiasm, your laughs, your curiosity, and your cooperation with each other! I hope you had fun and are ready for your next German class! Page 62 of 62
