2 Welcome to another wonderful year of the Iowa Paint Breeders Futurity Auction! Last year continued to be a success for IPBF despite the struggles that have plagued the industry. Continuing changes in the industry is one of the reasons the committee modified some already existing rules and added some new ones for These modifications should ensure that no matter what life can throw at it, the Iowa Paint Breeders Futurity will stay strong for years to come. This year marks the return of the Stallion Auction Supplement Sheet! Every effort is made to get all stallions in this catalog for potential buyers to research and plan their breedings; however, the continued growth of the fall show schedule makes it harder and harder for stallion owners to meet the catalog print deadline so it can reach all of you in a timely fashion. Our goal is not to penalize owners who are showing in the fall! Please watch for stallions added to the auction after the catalog is mailed to everyone. After much discussion, thought and drafting, a rule has been published in an attempt to address the cheating issue. This was addressed in two areas: 1) A modification to the specific set number of divisions for weanlings, and 2) An on site inspection process for futurity nominated mares, if needed. We would like to thank everyone for their patience as we worked with APHA and others in the industry to come up with these solutions. Mare owners, this DOES CHANGE your mare nomination requirements. Please review all italicized items in the 2012 rules. As always, we are so very thankful to our Stud Owners who donate these services, and the breeders who continue to bring new life into the industry. We also want to applaud all those who put in the long hours and hard work it takes to get these colts ready for the big show! It takes each and every one of you for a successful year! The information in the catalog has been printed as it was provided to the committee. We ask that you please research your potential purchases carefully. We have done our best to provide you with the information to do so. We welcome all suggestions for improvement of the futurity and appreciate all of those who took the time to answer our futurity survey. IF stallion sells, that stallion has a maximum of 3 foals eligible from that sale; one from the purchaser, and two from the stallion owner (which is not required to be used BY the stallion owner themselves). 3. Slots of Stallion Owners still require mares to be nominated as outlined in the rules. 4. ABSOLUTELY NO MARE NOMINATIONS ACCEPTED AFTER DEC. 31 st of AUCTION YEAR. Don t forget the $3,000! This is an Inventive for the horse accumulating the most points after showing in 3 years of the futurity! ($1,000 to Horse Owner, $1,000 to Stallion Service Donor, $1,000 to Mare Nominator) STALLION OWNERS Please stop in the sale office prior to leaving the auction to help keep as much money in the pot as possible. You achieve this by saving mailing fees when you pick up your packets. If you submitted an original picture; it too can be picked up at this time. PURCHASER NOTICES 1. Resulting foals MUST BE eligible for APHA registration (see APHA one paint parent rule). 2. Mares must be broke to lead, tie, and be in good condition and good health when bred. 3.
