4 OPTIONS 1-4 (Kapama / Ngala / Sabi Sands / Timbavati) DAY 01 USA/JOHANNESBURG Depart today on your overnight international flight to Johannesburg. DAY 02 JOHANNESBURG On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Johannesburg began as a mining town when the largest deposits of gold in the world were discovered in the Witwatersrand in This City of Gold and locally known as Egoli, is now the country s largest commercial center and city and the country s main gateway for overseas visitors. The city itself has a population of approximately 2 million, while the total urban area including Soweto (SOuth WEstern TOwnships) has a population of approximately 4 million. The Southern Sun O.R. Tambo International Airport Hotel is a mere 600 yards from South Africa s busiest airport. The hotel s elegant surroundings greet you and 366 rooms are spacious and offer every modern comfort. The Bernoullis Restaurant tempts diners with an extensive selection of international dishes from both the buffet and a la carte menu, while The Bernoullis Wine bar is the perfect setting for a pre- or post- dinner drink as it is open 24 hours a day. Accommodation: Southern Sun O. R. Tambo International Airport Hotel (B) DAY 03 JOHANNESBURG/HOEDSPRUIT/PRIVATE GAME RESERVE Take the hotel shuttle back to the airport. Depart today on your scheduled inter-africa flight from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit. On arrival you will be met and transferred by vehicle to your choice of Private Game Reserve. This afternoon and evening enjoy a day/night game drive. Along the western border of Kruger are a number of privately owned wildlife reserves. A very important advantage private reserves have over national parks is that private reserves use open vehicles, which give not only a better view but also a much better feel of the bush.

5 At most reserves, a game tracker sits on the hood or the back of each vehicle. Drivers are in radio contact with each other, greatly increasing the chances of finding those species that safariers want to see most. The reserves are home to large populations of elephant, buffalo, Burchell's zebra, greater kudu, giraffe, impala, white rhino, black rhino, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog among others. Vehicles may leave the road to pursue game through the bush. Night drives, provide an opportunity to spot nocturnal animals rarely seen during the day. Option 1 ~ Kapama Game Reserve is located west of Kruger National Park and next to the Timbavati Game Reserve. There are very few fences between all the areas and the Big Five game wanders freely. Kapama Private Game Reserve also hosts the world-renowned Hoedspruit Research and Breeding Center for Endangered Species, where you can view rare, endangered animal species at close range. Kapama Buffalo Camp accommodates only 16 guests in tents with en suite facilities. The eight luxury canvas tents are set on wooden decks built on stilts over a steep-sided riverbank. Wooden walkways interconnect the rooms, which are all in the upper reaches of tall riverine trees. The river below rarely flows and antelopes are seen daily walking along the sandy riverbed. There is an opportunity to spend a night at Kapama s Romance Platform for the ultimate night under the stars. (This activity needs to be pre-booked and additional fees apply). The communal areas of Buffalo Camp are on the riverbank, where gardens of succulent aloes and euphorbia are tended around the thatched bar, dining room, pool terrace and campfire. But the thick African bush is just a glance away, inhabited by animals like lion, hyena and jackal whose calls can be heard in the dead of night. Lanterns, rather than electric lights, glow at night under the trees, creating a special intimate ambience particular to Buffalo Camp. Activities include morning and afternoon/night game drives with a maximum of six people per safari vehicle and guided walks. Accommodation: Kapama Buffalo Camp (Full Board) OR Option 2 ~ Ngala Private Game Reserve is surrounded by 36,506 acres (14,780 hectares) of exclusive game-rich land in the world-renowned Kruger National Park. At Ngala, you may experience remarkably close encounters with breeding herds of elephant and buffalo. Get a chance to see black and white rhino, giraffe and a host of antelope, along with the great cats and occasionally, wild dog. At sunset, sip sundowners at the waterhole and experience life in Africa.

6 The luxurious Ngala Tented Camp is located on the banks of the Timbavati riverbed and features antiquefilled interiors and a timeless, easy-going atmosphere. Each of the six spacious tents feature outdoors showers, baths and twin hand basins. Activities include day and night game drives as well as walking trails. Accommodation: Ngala Tented Camp (Full Board) OR Option 3 ~ Tintswalo Safari Lodge is located on a 14,400 acre private concession within the Manyeleti Private Game Reserve. This lush, 5-star lodge is nestled between the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve to the North, Sabi Sand Reserve to the South, and open to the Greater Kruger National Park. The lodge features seven luxury suites each with air conditioning, en suite bathroom, indoor and outdoor shower, leading to your own private deck and plunge pool. The main lounge area is connected to suites via raised walkways and includes a small library, wine cellar and a spa which offers a variety of treatments. Dining at Tintswalo is a culinary delight and you will enjoy bush brunches, high teas, boma dinners as well as multi-course meals served in the intimate dining room. Tanda Tula Safari Camp comprises 12 luxury tents in the shade of ancient trees, with en suite bathrooms and hot and cold running water. Each tent has its own patio overlooking the bush and waterhole, and with a maximum of 24 guests in camp, privacy and personal attention are assured. The cuisine is superb, with a wine list to match, and for relaxing there is a swimming pool. Wi-Fi is available in the main lounge area.

7 Professional rangers and trackers offer game tracking on foot or in open safari vehicles, in the territory of the famous white lions and Africa s Big Five. Tanda Tula means "to love the quiet", and here you ll experience the sounds of silence that only Africa can offer. Activities include morning and afternoon/night game drives with a maximum of six people per safari vehicle. Picnicking at the two hides, as well as bush walks are also offered. Other activities are available in the region including visits to the the Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Center; Cheetah Rehabilitation Project or the Mapusha Weavers & Pre-School Visit. A typical day begins at 5:45 am with early morning tea or coffee, followed by a game drive. Return to camp for a hearty brunch. You will have the opportunity to relax by the pool, take a guided walk or have an afternoon siesta in your room. Tea is followed by an afternoon drive which continues into the night. Return to camp around 8:00 pm for pre-dinner drinks followed by a delicious dinner. This evening enjoy a night game drive. Notten s Bush Camp is located in the heart of the Sabi Sand region of South Africa. The family-run lodge offers Big Five game viewing in an intimate setting. Eight private suites are elegantly decorated and include en suite bathroom with indoor-outdoor showers, overhead fans and private decks. The raised open-plan lounge and dining room overlook a vast plain and waterhole. Enjoy using the large swimming pool and Spa between game activities. 8 Option 2 ~ This morning transfer by vehicle to Kirkman s Kamp near Sabi Sand Game Reserve. This evening enjoy a night game drive. Kirkman s Kamp is located on a 160,600 acre private game reserve boarding the southwestern corner of Kruger National Park. The reserve has no fences so animals are free to roam. Kirkman s Kamp is a historic lodge on an elevation overlooking the Sand River with spectacular views of the wilderness as far as the eye can see. Each of the 18 cottages has a private veranda and en suite facilities. A rim-flow pool is a refreshing option between game drives. Morning and night game drives take place in open vehicles. Accommodation: Kirkman s Kamp (Full Board) Option 3 ~ This morning transfer by vehicle to Shumbalala on the Thornybush Game Reserve. This evening enjoy a night game drive. Situated within 14,000 hectares of pristine wilderness, adjacent to the Kruger National Park, the Thornybush Nature Reserve is a true escape from the madness of city life. Bush lovers can saturate themselves, not only in the big five, but also in the remarkable fauna and flora, while less than enthusiastic bush goers can recoup their sanity relaxing in the luxurious surrounds, enjoying delicious cuisine and pampering themselves at one of the spas. Thornybush Shumbalala Lodge, located in the 28,417 acre (11,500-hectare) Thornybush Game Reserve adjacent to the Kruger National Park, is built on the banks of the seasonal Monwana riverbed. Accommodations include four suites and one presidential suite. All suites are air conditioned with private bathrooms, an outdoor shower and secluded viewing deck with an open fireplace. The main lodge area has two lounges, a library an elevated viewing deck, curio shop, an open air dining area and a swimming pool. There is also a walk-in underground wine cellar. 9 Option 4 ~ This morning you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled charter flight to your next safari camp located on the MalaMala Game Reserve. On arrival you will be met and continue to camp. *PLEASE NOTE* There is a luggage limit of 44lbs (20kg) per person on the flight so please pre-pack your luggage accordingly in a soft-sided bag. Scheduled Charter flights times are estimates and may include multiple stops. MalaMala Game Reserve is the largest private Big Five game reserve in South Africa. Comprising 13,300 hectares (approx 50 square miles), MalaMala shares a 12 mile unfenced border with the worldrenowned Kruger National Park and lies between the National Park and the Sabi Sand Reserve. Within the Reserve you will find a variety of habitats; dense riverine forest, acacia-combretum bushveld, open grassland and rocky outcrops, each supporting different plant and animal communities. MalaMala Main Camp s ochre colored buildings are clustered beneath shady trees and overlook the Sand River. The camp consists of eight suites and ten luxury rooms, each under traditional thatch with his and hers bathrooms, mini-bars, air-conditioning, wireless internet and spectacular views. Despite these modern comforts, MalaMala retains an authentic camp atmosphere. A tradition for over 60 years, dinner is served in the reed enclosed boma, and features African specialties and haute bush cuisine. The Buffalo Lounge, displaying bronzes, works of art and animal trophies, leads onto an expansive wooden deck. This elevated deck provides views of the Sand River and visiting game. 10 DAY 09 GAME RESERVE/SKUKUZA or HOEDSPRUIT/CAPE TOWN This morning transfer to the Skukuza (for Notten s or Kirkman s or MalaMala) or Hoedspruit (for Shumbalala) where you will board your scheduled inter-africa flight to Cape Town. Options 1, 2 and 4 ~ Welgelegen (the Dutch translation for well-situated ) consists of two charming turn-of-the-century homes in the popular suburb of Gardens, minutes from the town center and waterfront. 13 Trip reports: Kirkman's Kamp was also an excellent choice. The lodge was very charming stepping back in time. We were fortunate to see most species of animals and birds. On our last drive in Kirkman's Kamp, we spent about forty-five minutes in the Sand River bed watching a pack of 23 Wild Dogs...the pups played around our vehicle. The entire staff is warm, friendly, and most attentive...the food was all delicious. Thank you again, Marie Clifford and Joe Tarala The Welgelgen in Cape Town was conveniently located and Fiona and the staff could not have been more helpful and informative. She booked us at the Black Sheep Restaurant for our first night s dinner and the food was amazing. I never had Kudu before so I decided to try it. It was superb. Based on your recommendation, the second night we had dinner at the chef s table at the Nelson. Again, a wonderful experience. We had the chance to discuss the meal with the chef and at the end they presented us with a plate with Happy Anniversary written in icing. Truly memorable.
