I was working in Excel 2013 the other day and discovered a new feature (Flash Fill) that is a real time saver. I had a list of names in a column that were in all capital letters. I wanted them in proper case (first letter of each word capitalized). Of course, the PROPER function is available to take care of just this problem. However, this new feature is easier and faster. My list was short and I decided to retype it in the next column. I typed the first name, pressed the ENTER key and started to type the next name. Imagine my surprise when the column automatically filled all the way to the end with the names in proper case. They were gray so I pressed the ENTER key to complete the action. All names converted in a matter of seconds. My mind was racing. If Excel will change case, what else will it do? What if I just wanted to transfer the first or last name not the whole name? It did that and about anything I tried. A lot of functions just got eliminated. 1. In a column to the right of the column containing the data to be converted, type the data the way you want it to appear. In the example, in Cell B2, type John Smith 2. Press the ENTER key. 3. In the next cell, begin typing the data the way you want it to appear in that cell. You will only have to type a few letters before the conversion takes place. 4. Tuition will be promptly refunded with the following constraints: Notice must be received in writing at least 10 business days prior to the start of class. Cancellation notice may be faxed ( ) or ed (lpearson@summit-train.com). If you don t received confirmation of cancellation within 1 business day, please contact us by phone. Please note there is a nonrefundable $100 administrative fee. In all cases, failure to comply with the cancellation policy or failure to show up for class results in a charge of 100% of the class fee. If you cancel or reschedule within 10 business days of the start date of the course, you will be assessed 100% of the course fee. If this occurs, you may attend the next available course at no additional cost on a space-available basis. Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Web Application Development classes held in online classroom: The cancellation notice is 10 business days. The nonrefundable, administrative fee is $70 per class day. If the manual has not been shipped, this fee is reduced to $50 per class day. Adobe classes held in a public classroom: The cancellation notice is 10 business days. The nonrefundable, administrative fee is $150. Project Management classes including Microsoft Project, and Fundamentals of Project Management: The cancellation notice is 10 business days. The nonrefundable, administrative fee is $70. If the student reschedules the class, they will not be charge for a manual as long as they produce the all-ready-paid-for manual at the time of class.
