5 The Kestrel range/colours PVC-UE extruded products are ideally suited for both domestic and commercial applications. They perform better in use than traditional alternatives, are quick and easy to install, and are virtually maintenance-free. When calculating whole-life costs, Kestrel s products invariably offer a more practical and lower cost option. The Kestrel product range is divided into three distinct product groups: Roofline products Cladding products Interior products Roofline Range A comprehensive range of products designed to provide the complete solution to every roofline application: K22 22mm thick bullnosed fascia with load-bearing properties to support eaves tiles and gutters. K16 16mm thick fascia available in a choice of bullnosed or squarenosed styles which will also support eaves tiles and gutters. O18 an attractive 18mm thick true Ogee board. Waveline - a range of concave and convex edged bargeboards for decorative applications. Kestrel s roofline system also includes eaves protection and ventilation systems and a full range of trims and accessories, all of which are available in colour-matched formats. Cladding Range Superior cladding system for internal and external decorative use. Available in a variety of white and woodgrain finishes, and trims. 671/100 tongue and groove effect cladding. 670/150 shiplap style cladding. Kestrel s cladding systems can be used to create a variety of visually appealing effects in horizontal, diagonal or vertical arrangements. Interior Products PVC-UE products for interior applications are becoming increasingly popular. Designed to the same exacting standards as products for exterior use, Kestrel s interior range offers all the same performance benefits. Key products in the range include: 604 9mm thick bullnosed window board for internal and external applications mm slimline bullnosed window board ideal for interior applications. The range also includes a choice of reveal liners and architraves which can be used in conventional window finishing or as the ideal finish for doors and skirting. Completing the range is a selection of fillets, D-sections and quadrants. 6 Installation Kestrel Building Products Woodgrain foiled profiles, namely Mahogany, Rosewood, Sherwood and Black Grain have been extensively tested to ensure long-term weatherability. However, the main problem with nonwhite systems is the potential heat absorption with resultant risk of excessive expansion and contraction. In particular, with a Woodgrain foiled coating, this heat absorption can be significant, with detrimental effects on long-term installation over a potential 10 year guarantee period. By way of stipulating the correct installation procedure, Kestrel Building Products can only go so far in ensuring that procedures are adhered to. As long as the following guidelines are followed, trouble-free installations should be achievable. CLADDING 1. Allow a minimum of 50mm air space behind the back of all cladding installations. 2. By use of the Universal Channel or Starter Trim with Batten Cover at both the top and base of each cladding face, allow a 10mm air gap at the top and bottom of each cladding unit in order to generate an air flow behind the installation. Note: There must be 50mm between the back of the cladding and any insulation or membrane. 3. Install 5m (maximum) cut lengths and fix firmly at the centre of each cut length with K-Fix pins as recommended for white profile (i.e. stainless steel, annular ring-shank nails 2mm shank diameter of 30mm length). All subsequent fixings, at maximum 400mm centres from the central fixing point, to be pre-slotted with a 2mm x 10mm hole and fixed with a large-headed nail of the specification as above. 4. Jointing of boards to be made with the cover joint trim (676), allowing an 8mm expansion gap at every board end. 5. Installations to take place at ambient air temperature - between 5 C and 25 C. 6. All pre-installed products to be kept stored away from direct sunlight, preferably indoors, at all times. 7. All end finishing cover strips etc., should allow an 8mm expansion gap between the end of the cladding profile and the cover stop. These precautions will allow airflow behind the cladding fascia, which helps to reduce excessive heat buildup. They also allow a free expansion and contraction of the profile along the 5m run from a central fixed point. Expansion gaps at joints and finishing strips also allow for freedom of expansion. FASCIAS/BARGEBOARD 1. Increase expansion gap from current 5mm for white to 8mm. 2. All installations to take place at ambient temperature - between 5 C and 25 C. 3. All pre-installed products to be kept away from direct sunlight, preferably indoors, at all times. 4. All joints to be made with woodgrain corners and butt joints. 21 Guarantees In consideration of the Customer purchasing white PVC-U Profiles, ( the profiles ): Kestrel Building Products guarantees for a period of 10 years, the optical and mechanical performance of their white PVC-U Profiles, within limits defined by the British Plastics Federation specification for high impact PVC-U hollow profiles, provided they are maintained and installed in accordance with the BPF/GGF Trade Standard for PVC-U profiles issued (COP4, 1996) and all other current Codes of Practice. This Guarantee shall apply only to defects appearing within ten years from the date of manufacture, provided that Kestrel Building Products is promptly notified in writing of such defects within that ten year period. The sole and exclusive remedy with respect to the above Guarantee or with respect to any other claim relating to defects or any other condition arising from the use of the products supplied by Kestrel Building Products option. This guarantee does not cover non-white profiles, nor does it cover white profiles which have been coated in any shape or form by a third party. Kestrel Building Products white PVC-U profiles are guaranteed for colourfastness and weathering in Mid to Northern Europe (latitude 45 to 60 ). Kestrel Building Products does not make any other representations or guarantees and in no event shall Kestrel Building Products be liable for any other loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, special or consequential (including, but not limited to, the costs of installation of the products). Nothing in this Guarantee affects the statutory rights of consumers. Nothing in this guarantee shall exclude or restrict the liability of Kestrel Building Products for death or personal injury resulting from its negligence in so far as the same is prohibited by statute. This Guarantee shall apply only to defects appearing within ten years from the date of manufacture, provided that Kestrel Building Products is promptly notified in writing of such defects within that tenyear period. The sole and exclusive remedy with respect to the above guarantee or with respect to any other condition relating to defects or any other condition arising from the use of the products supplied by Kestrel Building Products, however caused, is limited to repair or replacement of such products at Kestrel Building Products option. This guarantee does not cover non-white profiles, nor does it cover white profiles which have been coated in any shape or form by a third party. 22 Guarantees In consideration of the Customer purchasing woodgrain foiled PVC-UE and PVC-U Profiles, ( the profiles ): Kestrel Building Products guarantees the optical and mechanical performance of their woodgrain foiled profiles (PVC-UE and PVC-U), within the limits defined by Kestrel Building Products recommended installation procedures. Kestrel Building Products guarantees the profiles for a period of ten years from manufacture. This Guarantee shall apply only to defects appearing within ten years from the date of manufacture, provided that Kestrel Building Products is promptly notified in writing of such defects within that ten year period. The sole and exclusive remedy with respect to the above Guarantee, or with respect to any other claim relating to defects or any other condition arising from the use of the products supplied by Kestrel Building Products, however caused, is limited to repair or replacement of such products at Kestrel Building Products option. Kestrel Building Products does not make any other representations or guarantees and in no event shall Kestrel Building Products be liable for any other loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, special or consequential (including, but not limited to, the costs of installation of the Profiles or any loss of profits or income). Nothing in this Guarantee shall exclude or restrict the liability of Kestrel Building Products for death or personal injury resulting from negligence in so far as the same is prohibited by Statute. Nothing in this Guarantee affects the statutory rights of consumers. In the case of any part of the profiles which have not been manufactured by Kestrel Building Products, Kestrel Building Products will pass on to the buyer to the extent that it is able, any benefits obtainable under any warranty given by Kestrel Building Products supplier, provided that the profiles have been accepted and paid for by the buyer and that Kestrel Building Products will not have any liability to pay the customer s costs in connection therewith nor any obligation to pursue any proceedings on behalf of the customer. Colour Fastness and Weathering - The foil is guaranteed for colour fastness and weathering to DIN 53387/54001 and BS 2782 in Mid to Northern Europe (latitude 45 to 60 ). Adhesion - The foil is guaranteed not to bubble, shrink or delaminate from the profile to which it is adhered on its exposure to normally predicted changes in climate and atmospheric conditions of temperature and moisture within Mid to Northern Europe (latitude 45 to 60 ) and in normally expected conditions within the home. No guarantees are given on its performance to other atmospheres, i.e. containing solvents, abrasive particles, etc. Cleaners - The foil wrapped profiles are guaranteed not to be affected adversely by the use of normal household cleaners, provided that manufacturer s instructions are followed. Solutions of bleach as well as abrasive cleaners should be avoided. Standard solvent cleaners, as used for cleaning of foil wrapped profiles are recommended. However, a damp cloth soaked in a weak solution of mild washing up liquid should suffice. Durability - Excluding the aforementioned, no specific guarantees are offered on durability where this relates to tensile strength, tearing strength, impact resistance, abrasion resistance, performance under extremes of temperature, resistance to scratching or resistance to stains. Note: For part numbers 1005 and 3005, this guarantee is only applicable when installed as a soffit. The products are not suitable for use as cladding. 20
