4 ABSTRACT This report summarizes Military Health Physics Section activities since the 2010 mid-year report was submitted on January 23, The section has completed the 2010 elections selecting a President-Elect, a Secretary Treasurer and two board members with the exception of breaking the tie for the second board position. The section has also finalized plans for the 2010 Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah including a board meeting, a section business meeting a special session. SUMMARY OF MILITARY HEALTH PHYSICS SECTION ACTIVITIES SINCE THE 2009 ANNUAL MEETING OF THE HEALTH PHYSICS SOCIETY ELECTION OF THE SECTION S OFFICERS AND EXECUTIVE BOARD In accordance with the Health Physics Society Bylaws, the Section conducted elections for the Section President-Elect, Secretary-Treasurer and two Board Members. SECTION BYLAWS There were no changes to the Section Bylaws during this period. SECTION NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE Pete Myers developed a list of candidates for the 2010 elections. The pool of candidates included two for Section President-Elect, two for Secretary-Treasurer and four for the two open Board Member positions. The Secretary-Treasurer submitted the ballot to the Section membership for voting and the results are in and tabulated. Mark Melanson was selected as the President-Elect for David Smith was selected as the Secretary Treasurer for Dan McClung was elected to one of the open board positions with a term of There was a tie for the second open board position and the tie was broken with a game of rock, paper or scissors. The winner of the tie-breaker was Eric Sassi and he will take the second open board position with the term of Those elected will take office following the Section Business meeting at the annual Health Physics meeting in Salt Lake of 185

5 City, Utah. SECTION PROGRAM COMMITTEE President-Elect William Hoak put in a lot of effort soliciting papers and developing an agenda for the Section Special Session at the Annual Health Physics Society meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Section Special Session will be held Wednesday June 30, 2010 The Section Leadership will hold a board meeting during lunch on 30 June at the Annual HPS meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah and the Section s business meeting will be held following the presented papers at the Special Session. CONCLUSION The Section received its official charter slightly less than two years ago and in that short period has successfully completed the two rounds of annual elections. The Section has also successfully conducted one Special Session with the second one planned for the 2010 Annual HPS meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah and has the momentum to make holding a Special Session an annual event.
