1 Delaware City Schools Board of Education Meeting June 4, 2018 Regular Meeting Willis Education Center 6:00 p.m. MISSION STATEMENT The Delaware City Schools will promote a culture of excellence that engages and empowers students and staff to embrace the challenges of our global society. We will build on our traditions, respect our diversity and partner for a strong community. This meeting is a meeting of the Board of Education in public for the purpose of conducting the School District s business and is not to be considered a public community meeting. 3 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION AT BOARD MEETINGS The Board of Education recognizes the value to school governance of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves on school matters of community interest. Any person or group wishing to place an item on the agenda shall register their intent with the Superintendent no later than ten (10) days prior to the meeting and include: A. Name and address of the participant; B. Group affiliation, if and when appropriate; C. Topic to be addressed. Such requests shall be subject to the approval of the Superintendent and the Board President. In order to permit the fair and orderly expression of such comment, the Board shall provide a period for public participation at every regular meeting of the Board and publish rules to govern such participation in Board meetings. The presiding officer of each Board meeting at which public participation is permitted shall administer the rules of the Board for its conduct. The presiding officer shall be guided by the following rules: A. Public participation shall be permitted. B. Anyone having a legitimate interest in the actions of the Board may participate during the public portion of a meeting. C. Attendees must register their intention to participate in the public portion of the meeting upon their arrival at the meeting. D. Participants must be recognized by the presiding officer and will be requested to preface their comments by an announcement of their name, address, and group affiliation, if and when appropriate. E. Each statement made by a participant shall be limited to five (5) minutes duration, unless extended by the presiding officer. F. No participant may speak more than once on the same topic unless all others who wish to speak on that topic have been heard. G. All statements shall be directed to the presiding officer; no person may address or question Board members individually. H. Tape or video recordings are permitted. The person operating the recorder should contact the Superintendent prior to the Board meeting to review possible placement of the equipment, and must agree to abide by the following conditions: 1. No obstructions are created between the Board and the audience. 2. No interviews are conducted in the meeting room while the Board is in session. 3. No commentary, adjustment of equipment, or positioning of operators is made that would distract either the Board or members of the audience or disrupt the meeting while the Board is in session. I. The presiding officer may: 1. Interrupt, warn, or terminate a participant s statement when the statement is too lengthy, personally directed, abusive, obscene, or irrelevant; 2. Request any individual to leave the meeting when that person does not observe reasonable decorum; 3. Request the assistance of law enforcement officers in the removal of a disorderly person when that person s conduct interferes with the orderly progress of the meeting; 4. Call for a recess or an adjournment to another time when the lack of public decorum so interferes with the orderly conduct of the meeting as to warrant such action. J. The portion of the meeting during which the participation of the public is invited shall be limited to thirty (30) unless extended by a vote of the Board. R.C Revised 6/9/03 3

Hayes High School Basketball I recommend the Board approve the Hayes High School Basketball Team for an overnight field trip to Sherrodsville, OH for a Basketball Team Camp June 10-12, 2018 as presented. 2. Hayes High School Basketball I recommend the Board approve the Hayes High School Basketball Team for an overnight field trip to Ohio University, Athens, OH for the Eastern Ohio Sports Camp June 22-24, 2018 as presented. 3. Hayes High School Cheerleading I recommend the Board approve the Hayes High School Cheerleading Program for an overnight field trip to Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH for the BG Cheer Camp June 22-24, 2018 as presented. 4. Delhi Yearbook Staff I recommend the Board approve the Hayes High School Delhi Yearbook Staff for an overnight field trip to Miami University, Oxford, OH for the Walsworth Yearbook Camp June 27-28, 2018 as presented. 5. Hayes High School Boys Soccer I recommend the Board approve the Hayes High School Boys Soccer Program for an overnight field trip to Ohio Wesleyan University for the OWU Soccer Camp July 13-15, 2018 as presented. 6. Hayes High School Girls Volleyball I recommend the Board approve the Hayes High School Girls Volleyball Program for an overnight field trip to Mason, OH for the Friendship Cup Volleyball Tournament July 9-11, 2018 as presented. 7. Hayes High School Girls Volleyball I recommend the Board approve the Hayes High School Girls Volleyball Program for an overnight field trip to Wittenberg University, Springfield, OH for the Wittenberg University Team Camp July 18-20, 2018 as presented th Grade Washington D.C. I recommend the Board approve one (1) extended day for Michelle Burkart at her regular per diem rate on June 5, 2018 for Kindergarten Screening. D. Approve Extended Hours 1. Eureka Math Professional Development Certified I recommend the Board approve extended hours for the following staff at $25.00 per hour, not to exceed 7 hours, on June 1, 2018 for Eureka Math Professional Development: Michala Titus Tiffany Vroegop 2. Strength & Conditioning I recommend the Board approve extended hours for Philip Carr at $25.00 per hour, not to exceed 360 hours, June 1, 2018 July 31, 2018 for 2018 Summer Strength & Conditioning. 3. CIA Day I recommend the Board approve extended hours for the following staff at their regular per diem rate, not to exceed 5.5 hours, on May 29, 2018 for the CIA Day- 5 th Grade Transition Event: Angela Thompson Summer Reading Camp I recommend the Board approve extended hours for the following staff at $25.00 per hour, not to exceed 76.5 hours, June 18 July 11, 2018 for the 2018 Summer Reading Camp: Rachel Brooks Paula McCue Tiffany Swartz Dawna Tompkins 5. Moved by seconded by to approve the META Technical Services Agreement as presented. 5.5 Approve Temporary Appropriation Resolution Be it resolved by the Board of Education of the Delaware City School District, Delaware County, Ohio, that to provide for the current expenses and other expenditures of said Board of Education, during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019, the following sums be and the same hereby set aside and appropriated for the several purposes for which expenditures are to be made during said fiscal year, as presented. 10 5.6 Approve Agreement with Delaware City Schools Teacher Association (DCTA) I recommend the Board approve a three-year agreement with Delaware City Schools Teacher Association (DCTA) effective August 1, 2018 July 31, 2021 as presented. This agreement provides for a 2.60% increase on the base for , and a 2.65% increase on the base for years and District employees will have access to one plan, a High Deductible Health Plan, for medical insurance.
