The competition will consist of 24 medal events, summarised below: total of 480 athletes, with tentative quota of 348 for men and 132 for women, will take part in the Wrestling competition. The Rules are available at UWW s official website unitedworldwrestling.org Duration and Scoring The application of the UWW Rules to the European Games and to all international competitions under the control of UWW is compulsory. In Greco-Roman Wrestling, it is strictly forbidden to grasp the opponent below the belt line, or to trip him or to use the legs actively on an opponent to perform any action. In Freestyle Wrestling and in Female Wrestling, however, it is permissible to grasp the legs of the opponent, to trip him and to use the legs actively to perform any action. Female Wrestling follows the rules of Freestyle Wrestling, forbidding, however, the Double Nelsons hold. In accordance with the UWW International Wrestling Rules, each bout will, in principle, consist of a maximum of two periods of three minutes. The winner is declared by the addition of the points in both periods at the end of the regular time. Evident technical superiority of eight points for Greco-Roman Wrestling Version 2 Page 2

3 and 10 points for Freestyle Wrestling and Female Wrestling automatically leads to victory and to the end of the bout. The fall automatically puts an end to the match at any time in the course of the competition. Freestyle and Female Wrestling: The duration of a period is three minutes. If, after two minutes in the first period, no wrestler has scored then the referee must obligatorily designate the passive wrestler. Greco-Roman Wrestling: The duration of a period is three minutes. In the case where a bout ends by 0-0, the victory goes to the wrestler who was deemed the most active last. Clothing and equipment Clothing and equipment used by athletes and other participants in the Wrestling competition at the European Games must comply with the documents listed below: The UWW International Wrestling Rules available at European Games Rules on dvertising, Demonstrations and Propaganda Contestants must appear on the edge of the mat wearing a UWW approved onepiece singlet of the colour assigned to them (red or blue). It is forbidden to have a mixture of red and blue colours on the singlet. Wrestlers are required to wear the following attributes: Their country s emblem on the chest The abbreviation of their country s name (maximum size 10cm x 10cm) on the back of the singlet and their last name in Latin letters (4cm to 7cm) above or in a half circle around the country s abbreviation. Competition format For all medal events, a direct elimination system will be used to produce two finalists, who will compete for the gold medal. ll wrestlers who lose against either of the finalists at any stage of the competition, up to and including the semi-finals, will contest a repêchage, which will take place after the semi-finals and before the gold medal bout. The winners of the two repêchage groups will each be awarded bronze medals, with the losers of these bronze medal bouts awarded an equal fifth place. Sport-specific events Technical Meeting The Technical meeting will occur one day before the start of competition on 12 June 2015 from 15:30 to 1:30. The meeting will take place at the Heydar liyev rena. Medical control, weigh-in and draw The weigh-in will take place at the Heydar liyev rena from 12 June to 17 June. Every day before the competition starts, wrestlers will arrive at the competition venue for the weigh-in procedure, medical control,and draw. The medical examination will last a maximum of one hour. The weigh-in will take place over 30 minutes. Wrestlers must ensure that they bring all necessary documentation, as mandated by UWW. The medical staff will confirm whether the wrestlers are eligible to compete. Following the medical check-ups, wrestlers will then complete the weigh-in procedure, which will be conducted by officials from the UWW. n electronic draw will determine the pairings between all wrestlers who pass the weigh-in control. The use of light knee pads containing no metal parts is allowed. wrestler must have a cloth handkerchief with him during the whole course of the match. Version 2 Page 3

The venue first opened in 1990 and since then has held over 30 international events of several sports disciplines, including Wrestling. Field of play The field of play for the Wrestling competitions at Heydar liyev rena will consist of a platform, 0.8m in height and with a special sponge-floor surface. On the platform, there will be three octagonal mats located adjacent to one another, each with the dimensions of 12m x 12m, and a combat circle of 9m in diameter. The competition area and all the equipment will be presented in accordance with the UWW rules. Facilities The warm-up area will be located within the venue, near the field of play, and will consist of six square mats. Other facilities at the competition venue will include: Changing rooms and showers (separate facilities for men and women) n athletes lounge, which will include services such as an athlete refreshment station, television with an in-venue live sports feed and Wi-Fi Internet access in designated areas Saunas (separate facilities for men and women) The call room area weigh-in room Cubicles Competition management offices EF, ITO and jury meeting rooms broadcast mixed zone and an I-Zone (the I-Zone replaces the press mixed zone and media conference room at a competition venue) media workroom Sport Information Desk, located at the athletes lounge will offer services including distribution of general sport information, results and other key competition information Version 2 Page 4

5 Medical facilities and services such as field-of-play response team, spectator response teams and ambulance staff. Each venue will have at least one medical person with dvanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification Physiotherapy services featuring internationally trained physiotherapists doping control station Venue familiarisation Venue familiarisation will take place before the Technical Meeting on 12 June 2015, one day before the competition. Separate venue tours for athletes will not be provided. Transport The preliminary travel time from the thletes Village to the Heydar liyev rena is 15 minutes. ll travel times are subject to being refined in tandem with the Road Infrastructure delivery. Weather Due to its location on the southwest bsheron Peninsula, Baku is characterised by its warm temperatures and strong winds all year long, and summers are usually hot and dry. Based on statistics from recent years, the mean temperature is approximately 23 C (73 F) in June with around 15 hours of daylight. In June, the prevailing wind direction is from the north, with a mean wind speed of.5 m/s. ll training equipment will be approved by UWW and will comply with the UWW International Wrestling Rules. dditional information Training Complex 1 will provide the following facilities to Wrestling athletes and their training staff: n athletes lounge, which will include an athlete refreshment station Medical facilities featuring services including internationally trained physiotherapists Saunas (male and female) Changing rooms Gym NOC Physio spaces There will be a total of 14 mats available for athletes during the allocated training time. Training slots will be available each day. Training slots for each NOC will be allocated by BEGOC. Information about the time slots designated for each country will be available for NOCs at a later stage. Qualification and entry ll information on qualification and entries for Wrestling can be found in the Wrestling qualification system, distributed by BEGOC. NOCs should check online for regular updates to these qualification criteria, which will be made available to all NOCs on the e-qəzet.
