The rules The competition will be held in accordance with the editions of the following documents that are in force at the time of the Games: IF competitions Rules ( ) (available at European Team Championships Regulations (available at www. european-athletics.org) Scoring There will be one set of medals available in the competition at Baku 205, which will be awarded to the team with the highest number of points. Team scores will be calculated by a combination of men s and women's event points. Version 2 Page 2

3 The winner of each event receives 5 points; the second receives 4 points and so on, corresponding to the number of teams competing. thletes or relay teams that are disqualified or do not finish will receive no points. If two or more athletes tie for a place in any event, the attributable points shall be divided equally between them. The team having the highest aggregate number of points shall be the winner of the match. If two or more teams have the same aggregate number of points, the tie shall be decided in favour of the team having the greater number of event winners. If the tie still remains it shall be decided in favour of the team having the greater number of second places, and so on. Clothing and equipment Clothing and equipment used by athletes and other participants in the competition must comply with the following documents: IF Competition Rules (available at European Games Rules on dvertising, Demonstrations and Propaganda Competition format at the Baku 205 European Games will encompass the European Team Championships 3rd League. There will be a total of 40 events, 20 for men and 20 for women. Each team will have one athlete per event. Each team will also have a relay team per two relay events. Field events For all field events, with the exception of vertical jump events, there will be a maximum of four trials in each event. ll participating athletes will have three qualification trials (first, second and third trial); the best four athletes after the three qualification trials will compete in the final (fourth round). The athletes with lower performances will be ranked by their best performance after the third qualification trial; the remaining four athletes will be ranked by their best performance after the final (fourth round). In the horizontal jumps and throwing events the order of trials in the first round will be kept until the third round. The order of the trials in the final round will be the reverse order of the ranking after the third round. In the vertical jumps the IF rule 8.2 shall be respected. Furthermore, each competitor is limited to a maximum of four fouls throughout the whole field event. fter the fourth foul he/ she may not jump further unless he/she has won the competition. Track events Races up to and including 800m, as well as relays, will be staged in two heats of seven or eight athletes each. rrangement of athletes in heats will be based upon athletes' performances. Heats will be drawn so that, normally, the best performers compete in the same heat. Draw will be made by European early 205. In principle the distribution will be based on the athletes season best performances. Results from the previous year's major events (finalists of Olympic Games or World Championships or medallists in European Championships) can be also considered by the Technical Delegate for the purpose of the distribution per heats. This will be only applied in case an athlete has no season best. For the 4 x 00m Relay and 4 x 400m Relay, the teams distribution per heat will be according to the teams scoring standings one hour before the scheduled time for each event. The best scored teams will compete in the same heat, which shall be the last event of the track events session. Competition schedule detailed competition schedule can be found on page. Sport-specific events The Technical Meeting will be held on 20 June 205. Details regarding the time and location of the meeting will be communicated at a later date. The venue Situated close to the thletes Village, the spectacular National Stadium will host two days of events as well as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Construction on the multi-function venue is scheduled to be completed in February 205. Version 2 Page 3

4 Field of play The field of play for the competition at the National Stadium will use the following: Nine-lane, 400m oval track and nine-lane straight track; the water jump for the 3000m Steeplechase is on the inside of the track One High Jump landing area One Pole Vault landing area One Long Jump/Triple Jump pit One Discus Throw circle One Hammer Throw circle One Javelin Throw runway One Shot Put circle Facilities There will be three warm-up areas for the competition: two next to the National Stadium, and one within the venue. The training and warm-up area for the track and jumping events will contain: Eight-lane, 400m track (the water jump for the 3000m Steeplechase is on the inside of the track) One High Jump landing area One Pole Vault landing area One Long Jump/Triple Jump pit The training and warm-up area for the throwing events will include: One Javelin Throw runway One Discus Throw circle One Hammer Throw circle Two Shot Put circles The third warm-up area is located within the National Stadium, next to the call room, and features an indoor area with 4 lanes x 45m track. Mondotrack FTX will be used for all surfaces. Other facilities at the competition venue will include: n athletes lounge, which will include services such as an athlete refreshment station, television with an in-venue live sports feed and Wi-Fi Call room and Indoor Warm-up area Lounges for officials doping control station Medical facilities and services such as field-of-play response team, spectator response teams and ambulance staff. Each venue will have at least one medical person with dvanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification Physiotherapy services featuring internationally trained physiotherapists broadcast mixed zone and an I-Zone (the I-Zone replaces the press mixed zone and media conference room at a competition venue) media workroom Technical Information Centre dditional facilities at the warm-up and training stadium will include: Changing rooms and showers (separate facilities for men and women) Lounges for athletes sport information desk Medical facilities, physiotherapy, and other services for athletes Weightlifting facility Team tents Venue familiarisation Venue familiarisation for athletes will take place on 20 June 205. 5 Transport The preliminary travel time from the thletes Village to the National Stadium is five minutes. ll travel times are subject to being refined in tandem with the Road Infrastructure delivery. Weather Due to its location on the southwest bsheron Peninsula, Baku is characterised by its warm temperatures and strong winds all year long, and summers are usually hot and dry. Based on statistics from recent years, the mean temperature is approximately 23 C (73 F) in June with around 5 hours of daylight. In June, the prevailing wind direction is from the north, with a mean wind speed of.5 m/s. Qualification and entry ll information on qualification and entries for can be found in the qualification system, distributed by BEGOC. NOCs should check online for regular updates to these qualification criteria, which will be made available to all NOCs on the e-qəzet. Training Training for will take place at the warm-up stadium. The warm-up area will be open from 7 June to 22 June 205. ll training equipment will be approved by the European ssociation, and will comply with IF competitions Rules ( ).
