1 DATES:Friday, May 5, 2017 Start: 5:00 PM (Coaches Meeting: 4:30 PM in Multi-Purpose Room located at the corner of the school behind the visitors bleachers) PARKING: ENTRIES: EVENTS: We are under construction this year, so parking will be limited. School buses, coaches, and officials are to use the lot on State Street (south side of the school). When travelling south on Route 36 after passing the WalMart and Lowes Plazas, turn left at the second light adjacent to the softball field. Buses should go to the last entrance (before the house on the left and stoplight) to drop athletes off, who will walk in front of the school toward the track (please refer to the map on the last page for further clarification). Spectator parking is catch as catch can. Please encourage parents and families to carpool and let them know that they may be walking some distance to the facility! We apologize for the inconvenience. We have 16 teams registered. You may enter THREE (3) athletes per individual event (shot put, discus, pole vault, long and triple jumps, 4x100 throwers relay, 3000/3200, steeplechase-- see details below). This means we will have a maximum of eight heats in the shorter events. Heats and flights will be determined by seed performances (please make sure they accurately reflect athletes current abilities) and will be seeded as finals in all events, so pay close attention to the preliminary meet seeding packet you receive by before the meet. One relay team is permitted per school. Relay entries should include all possible runners (maximum 6). Sectional event order with steeplechase and seeded races as finals (i.e., no prelims in the 100, 200, and 100/110 hurdles). Sorry, no pentathlon. 2 TRACK: 1/8 spikes only on all track (six lanes) and runway. Starting blocks provided. The meet will be run under the N.Y.S.P.H.S.A.A. rules. SEEDING and TIMING: (1) Follow this link to our page on NY MileSplit: MileSplit Entry. This link is also available at our website: Hornell Invitational. If you have not registered yet, please do by clicking on appropriate button. This will prompt you to log in. If you have an account already or are automatically logged in by your browser, simply click on the green Register Online Now button. For those who have already registered (the page will indicate Already Registered), click on the View/Edit Entry link and enter your athletes and relays. F.A.T. will be provided by Wellsville Track and Field again this year, who did an amazing job. Unfortunately, since we have teams from Section 6 and we are using MileSplit, results will not be automatically processed in the Section V (yentiming) leaderboard.. Entries must be completed by 3:00 PM on Wednesday, May 3 rd. (2) Scratches will be allowed, but no additions. Also, there will be no re-seeding if athletes are scratched! (3) Notice regarding the shot put, discus, steeplechase, 3200/3000 meter runs, and 4x100 throwers relay. Submit up to maximum allowed based on meet enrollment. However, because of time and facility limitations, the following will occur to facilitate meet management: (A) Shot put and discus: Flights will run from most to least competitive. We will assess the level of competition. If all throwers are highly competitive, we will reduce the number to 32 to allow throwers four attempts. If a large number of throwers are mid to low level, we will take the top 40 seeded throwers and seeding them in 4 flights of 10. Each thrower in the first two flights will receive four throws (no finals). Less competitive flights will have three, UNLESS TIME IS A FACTOR. If this is the case, throwers in the last flights may get only two throws. In doing so, we should be able to get both the girls and boys events completed within the daylight limitations. (B) Pole Vault: As stated above for throwing events, we will make a judgment based on quality of jumpers and total number of entries. (C) Steeplechase and 3200/3000 meter runs: We will limit entries to create one heat of each with a manageable number of runners (we have traditionally capped at 24). Runners with the best seed times will be selected. (D) Long and Triple Jump: We may have to run the long and triple jumps in flights this year as construction might eliminate the use of our outside jumping pit. If we do, we will set it up as we did for the throwers, with top seed going first and getting more attempts. Construction may also force us to limit the number of entrants, especially in the long jump. (E) 4x100 Throwers Relay: This is a new event, providing an opportunity for your throwers who may have limited throws in competition to have something more to look forward to. As such,

3 please make every effort to include your third and fourth place throwers, not just your best. If you are short on throwers, you may include JV athletes like horizontal jumpers who may also have limited attempts. Yes, the kids can make it competitive as they will earn awards, but we also want it to be fun. MISCELLANEOUS: There will be concessions for t-shirts and food during the meet. Space for tents is limited; they may be placed in the area beneath the main bleachers and tennis courts. Athletes are to use only the gate near the finish line to enter the facility. Use of any other gate, and climbing fences or any other structures will result in disqualification for the remainder of the meet. The infield will be cordoned. Warmups are permitted in the designated area only. Athletes will clerk in at the location of their event in the field. Runners will clerk in near mid-field to receive numbers. Results will be printed and posted near the ticket booth as quickly as possible. All correspondence will be made via . I hope that all coaches addresses are correct.
