This trophy is awarded to the most improved archer regardless of age. Clubs are asked to nominate archers according to set criteria on the Deed of Gift. This trophy was first presented in This trophy is intended to be awarded to the Most improved archer Clubs are required to submit details on the archers discipline, 1 st January 2017 to 31 st October, 2017 including a brief history on the individuals progress. Henry Malin Nominees must have competed in not less than 5 events above club level, All tournament scores are cross checked by ArcheryNSW Recorder. Ku-Ring-Gai Bowmen Inc VETERAN OF THE YEAR (JANET WILKS MEMORIAL TROPHY) Janet Wilks was a member of Ku-ring-gai Bowmen. Legend had it that she loved to shoot clout. Janet worked as a nurse at Royal North Shore Hospital. The trophy is awarded to the Veteran of the Year and was first presented in 1994 by her family shortly after she passed away. Is awarded on the Annual Performance Awards point system, excluding National Championships, which allocates points based on placings gained at State & Club tournaments on the 2017 Tournament Calendar. 3 Andy Firth Perpetual Trophy Andy Firth was a proud Yorkshireman and a member of Sydney Bowmen. He was a keen longbow shooter, and competed in a number of ANSW tournaments at both club and state level and competed in the 2009 World Masters Games in Sydney, earning one gold and four silver medals. Andy had a great love of Traditional archery and attended most events at Wisemans's Ferry He was also a master fletcher, making some truly beautiful arrows - including one set which had fletches representing his name in barcode. Some examples of his work have been incorporated into the Andy Firth trophy. Andy passed away in 2015 Trophy is awarded to the highest combined aggregate scores shot at the State Indoor / Field / Target & Clout throughout the year in any age group or gender competing in the longbow division. If an archer shoots in more than one division in an event, then only the highest single score from that event will be used. Robert Sheehan Liverpool City Archers 2334 points So lets kick of where several of our archers attending World Cup & Asia Cup Bangkok 20-25th March, 2017 NSW Archers James Johnstone with Kane Wilson from Warringah & Belinda Maxworthy, together with Sam Strickland from QLD headed off to compete at the Asia Cup 2 in Bangkok (Thailand). Manager Di Strickland. Belinda & Sam won a bronze medal in the mixed team s matchplay. Individual placings in the qualification event: Sam 636/36, Kane 634/39 James: 627/42 and Belinda 624/20. 7 JUNIOR STATE TARGET CHAMPIONSHIPS 13 th October, 2017 hosted by Penrith City Archers Perpetual Trophy for Overall Junior Boy Target Champion (Tony Maturano Memorial Trophy) Trophy presented by the Bridges family in 2009 to honour the memory of Tony Maturano a Paralympian. Tony was also a coach and he competed in numerous tournaments until his death in early Tony was the winner posthumously of the disabled Archer of the Year in (Awarded to the highest score obtained in the Junior State Target Championships by a Male Recurve archer regardless of age and round being shot). Eddie Upston (Sydney Olympic Park Archers) Score 1310 Perpetual Trophy for Overall Junior Girl Target Champion (Grace Drake Memorial Trophy) Grace, along with husband Laurie were founders of the sport of archery in NSW. They set up the NSW Archery Society which in 1946 became known as Sydney Bowmen. In 1948 Grace and her husband formed ArcheryNSW. She was the first National Women s Champion in both Field and Target at the inaugural championships held in Sydney in The perpetual shield was first awarded to the Junior Girl Recurve Target Champion in 1997 to commemorate Grace s contribution to archery and was presented by Sydney Bowmen. Grace and Laurie s son, Darryl is currently a member of Sydney Bowmen (Awarded to the highest score obtained in the Junior State Target Championships by a Female Recurve archer regardless of age and round being shot). Chevyone Cheah (Sydney Olympic Park Archers), Score 1248 OPEN STATE TARGET CHAMPIONSHIPS 14 th October, 2017 hosted by Penrith City Archers Perpetual Trophy for Outright winners awarded to the archer who has obtained the highest score in the following disciplines in the Senior Competition. 8 PRESIDENTS CUP READ HOW AWARD IS PRESENTED Is awarded on the highest aggregate score of all competitors registered to the Society through their club competing in the State Target Championships Sydney Olympic Park Archers 102,375 points The Presidents Cup was first awarded in 1997 by then President, Robert Armstrong. Troy was tragically killed in a car accident in 1985 on his way to a tournament. During his brief archery career he was a state representative, state team captain and Australian representative. The trophies were awarded to the Overall State Champion Junior Boy & Girl Compound in 1985 by the NSW junior archers in memory of Troy. 10 A r c h e r y N S W

Best Allround Intermediate Compound (presented by Warringah Woodsmen) * Alyssa Mollema (Cessnock Target Archers) 12 points Best Allround Intermediate Recurve (Arthur Chapman Trophy) * Chevyone Cheah (Sydney Olympic Park Archers) 10 points Arthur Chapman owned a sports store in Rockdale in the 1950 s and 60 s and was a major supplier of archery equipment. His son Gary was a swimmer who won a bronze medal at the Melbourne Olympics in The trophy was first awarded in 1962 to the Best Allround Intermediate Recurve Archer. Best Allround Cub Competitor (awarded to the outright cub regardless of whether they are a boy / girl / recurve / compound / barebow (presented by Warringah Woodsmen) Mitchell Campbell (Warringah Archers) 12 points THE FOLLOWING TROPHY IS AWARDED ON AGGREGATE SCORES TAKEN FROM TARGET, FIELD, CLOUT & INDOOR. 12 CCS Pty Limited was a company owned by Malcolm Fear. Malcolm and his son Jackson participated in the sport of archery for many years. Jackson broke many Australian records and in 1994 scored a perfect Australian Indoor I. In 1996 he was Junior World Champion and broke an Olympic record in the Teams Matchplay at Atlanta. Malcolm died tragically in 2005 and Jackson one year later. The four marble trophies were first awarded in 1991 to Best Allround Junior Boys & Girls, due to at that stage age groups changing one your birthday was reached, this award was instigate to allow scores from one age group to transfer to another throughout the year. Sydney Olympic Park Archers 390 points Ross Herron was a founding member of the Archery Society of NSW. History states that Ross, the Drakes, George Scott, Dick Rutherford, and Dr.John Boorman met at the first national championships to form the Society. Ross was a member of Greenlees Archers and a life member of the Archery Society of NSW Inc. Ross also manufactured the Symphony range of bows. Ross s wife, Anne is currently a member of Greenlees.
