2 O Neills Mens Open Senior 40x20 Championships Introduction Late 2013 the CCCC as part of it s remit reviewed the men s senior 40x20 All-Ireland Singles and Doubles Championships format. The purpose of this review was to consider how the current structure for the men s senior championships has been operating and to see if this can be improved. As part of this review process, members of the CCCC visited each of the four provinces and met with county and provincial representatives. The outcome of these discussions was taken into account when determining the best way forward for In making its decisions the CCCC was conscious that any one model considered would probably not receive universal approval. Against this background it was decided to introduce the new model on a trial basis for 2014 only and to review its success at the end of the 40x20 season. This review took place and apart from a few small hiccups everyone though the new format went well. It was agreed to extend the trial format for another year. The 2015 Singles Structure A provincial championship will be held in each province. All senior, intermediate and junior players will be eligible to compete. The provincial winner qualifies for the All-Ireland quarter-final. The runner-up advances to the last twelve. All remaining senior players who competed in the provincial championship will qualify to compete in a qualifier competition if they so wish. Eligible players from all four provinces will go into an open draw. Players who have already played each other in the provincial championship will be kept apart in the opening round. This competition will be played down to the last four over one weekend. These four players in the qualifiers will play the provincial runners-up. The winners then advance to the quarter finals where they will meet the provincial winners. The semi-finals and final will then follow. The 2015 Doubles Structure The structure for the doubles will be the same as for the singles.

3 Rota As agreed at CCCC meeting dated Semi Final Pairings 2014 Connacht v Ulster Leinster v Munster 2015 Leinster v Ulster Connacht v Munster 2016 Munster v Ulster Connacht v Leinster Quarter Finals Pairings going forward Provincial Winners will play Opposite Provincial Runner Up as per the rota. Singles, Last 12 and Quarter Finals matches will ideally be played on two consecutive days at the same venue in one of the two provinces. With the Doubles, Last 12 and Quarter Finals matches being played in the opposite provincial nominated court. Nominated Provincial Court is to be the best central court available in each province. Provinces to nominate venues by Friday 23 rd January If this new format is going to be approved for the long term then in the pairings will be the opposite than with home and away venues also switches for the Singles and Doubles. It has also been agreed that Provincial Council will be levied for the cost of the entries fees of the Provincial Winners and Runner Up s who automatically qualify for the All Ireland Championship.

The remaining Senior players in each of the provinces who competed in the provincial championship may enter the Back Door championship where 4 groups will be drawn. Groups decided by the number of entries in Qualifiers. So far as possible provinces players will be kept apart in groups. Saturday 21 st February Backdoor Qualifiers Central Venues were possible All games are played in the Backdoor Qualifiers on the one weekend untill 4 winners remain. These 4 winners go forward to play the four provincial runners up. Saturday 28th February Last 12 - Provincial Runner Up v Backdoor Qualifier.
