2 DIVISION COORDINATOR INSTRUCTIONS Read/Know tournament playing rules Meet with officials refs, scorers, timers explain playing rules have copy at scorer s table Place schedule and signs on gym doors. Monitor games to ensure officials are doing their job and scorers paying attention. Arbitrate all problems! Pay all officials pay envelopes provided at TC meeting. MAP officials paid by check at tournament desk Team Distribution o Sales T-shirts o 1 Souvenir to each player on each team return extras to tournament desk or gym kit box. o 1 tournament book to each team Remove schedule from gym doors at the end of day Close gym doors if gym custodial is not present Check restroom condition before 1 st game photograph and note any concerns. Game Schedule. Start each game on time. If time must be made up inform refs, team coaches, shorten warm-up and half time. Disputes. Resolve with Referees your decision is final. Post Game. Review score sheets and ensure results are recorded on the Game Summary Sheet. At MAP, a runner will take results to tournament desk. Spectator Control. Do the best you can. 3 Mismatched Games. If a team is obviously dominating the opponent, at the next opportunity suggest to the dominating team that they show more sportsmanship allowing the other team to play. Tight Games. Provide extra support to scorer/timer. Remind them not to cheer or coach any team. Food and Drinks. Only water allowed in gym or court. Restrictions applies to both players and spectators. Awards. 4-team divisions: 5-team divisions; 6-team divisions: Novice Grade 2 Champions and Runner-ups Champions, Runner-ups, Consolation Champions, Runner-ups and Consolation Participant trophies for all players Place trophies and participant trophies for non-placing teams Grade 3 and above T-shirt awards. Champions receive shirts with the word Champion screened on them. At the conclusion of the deciding game, attempt to hold a trophy presentation and tell the teams how much we appreciate their participation on our tournament Gym Director Notebook Page 3

5 Scorer/timer Detailed Information You are an OFFICAL of the game and expected to conduct yourself as such with no coaching or cheering a team Score sheets: Preprinted with name and jersey numbers. If numbers are missing, obtain them from coach and record on score sheets. Adding Players: Do not accept unless authorized by Division Cordinator. Start Game on Time: If time has to be made up, inform Division Coordinator (DC) to advise coaches. Shorten warm-up and half-time. Ask DC to inform next game coaches that warm-up time will be abbreviated. Running Totals. The running totals of the score sheet is the official game score so be sure to record running score, total time-outs and total fouls first before recording points or fouls to a particular player. The timer shall act as the spotter for the scorer. Official Time-Out. As an official, you can call official time-out to resolve problems with the assistance of Referee anddc. Wait for the next dead ball before taking the official time-out. Time-outs. Record the player number requesting the time-out. Advise referee if a team calls illegal time-out.
