The Chaps are on a hot two-game win streak in which they have defeated their prior two opponents by an average margin of 14.5 points. Heading into the game, LCU resides in a tie for fourth place with Newman, as both squads hold a 4-3 mark in Heartland Conference standings. SATURDAY REWIND LUBBOCK, Texas (January 20, 2018) Lubbock Christian University tied a bow on their week with an Heartland Conference victory over Oklahoma Christian Saturday afternoon inside Rip Griffin Center. Brennen Fowler led all scorers with 22 points and nine boards and sophomore Ja Qualyn Gilbreath s 17 points off a 7-of-8 shooting performance helped the Chaparrals to a 54.7% field goal average over the Eagles. LCU came out swinging on their way to an early 15-8 lead following a layup from Marcos Schuster at the 13:33 mark of the opening half. After the quick lull by the Chaparral offense, Lubbock Christian found their feet and strung together eight unanswered points to regain their advantage at The Chaps were able to keep the OC squad contained for the remainder of the half, while outscoring the Eagles 13-8 over the final five minutes and taking a lead at halftime. Gilbreath came off the bench to lead the Chaparrals at the break with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting. LCU forced Oklahoma Christian into nine turnovers in the period while committing a season-low two first-half turnovers of their own. Of their 43 points, 22 came from inside the paint, where the Chaps battered the Eagles Lubbock Christian combined for a 47.2% (17-of-36) field goal average throughout the first period. OC s Roderick Smith cut the LCU lead to three with back-to-back buckets to open up the second half. But that would be as close as the Oklahoma Christian offense would come, as Jay Workman put away any hope for the Eagles with a three-point missile at the 18:41 mark. Workman s dagger sparked a 16-4 scoring run for the Lubbock Christian offense. The Chaps pushed their advantage to 17-points on three occasions in the second half, the final of which came on a fast break layup from Workman to put LCU up with 1:55 remaining. Oklahoma Christian would score twice more on a pair of free throws, but the Chaparrals were able to out-muscle the Eagles on their way to an victory. Fowler zoned in and tacked on 15 points, five rebounds and five blocks in the second half alone. The Smyer, Texas native also knocked down both of his three-point attempts in the period to help the Chap squad to a remarkable 64.3% second-half field goal percentage. Fowler s two three-pointers were a career high. Workman and Gilbreath each dealt four assists in the second period and five as-

The Chap s 54.7% field goal average against the Eagles marks their eighth contest this season shooting above 50%. The Chaparrals move to an 8-10 overall record and a 4-3 record in Heartland play. LCU has now won six consecutive matches against the Eagles. INSIDE THE NUMBERS Over their past four victories, the Lubbock Christian squad has downed their opponents by an average margin of 20.8 points. All four of those victories have come at Rip Griffin Center for the Chaps. ON THE ROAD AGAIN The Chaps will take their play on the road for the seventh time this season, seeking to improve on a 1-5 road mark. Their lone win came at the ASU Classic over Thanksgiving, where the Chaparrals downed a previously unbeaten Angelo State team. DEJA VU Thursday s contest marks the second consecutive game in which the Chaps will take on a program that holds an overall and conference record that mirrors their own. LCU faced off against Oklahoma Christian this past Saturday where both squads stood 7-10 overall and 3-3 in Heartland action. The Chaparrals ultimately went on to register a victory over the Eagles marking their fourth double-digit victory this season. OFFENSIVE EFFICIENCY LCU has recorded a field goal percentage of 50% or higher in three of their last four competitions. When shooting with a team field goal average above 50%, the Chaps are 6-2 against opponents. Of LCU s eight wins this season, six have come by 10 points or more. Throughout their each of their victories this year, the Chaps are outscoring their opponents by a 16-point margin. CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD Brennen Fowler has dominated teams on the glass this year, stacking up seven double-double performances. Fowler is averaging a conference leading 9.3 rebounds per contest, 6.78 of which have come on the defensive end of the court. Fowler is coming off of his second Heartland Conference Player of the Week ac- colade this season. SURE SHOT Isaac Asrat has consistently been a threat for the Chaps on the offensive side. Asrat leads the LCU squad and ranks second in the Heartland averaging 18.3 points per game and 3.06 made three-pointers per contest. His 47.8% shooting percentage from beyond the arc ranks him first in the Heartland and 11th in the nationally. NU FACTS - Newman has played two conference games at home this season. Of those two games, they have managed to win by a combined 13 points. - The Jets are coming off of a 12-point road loss at the hands of No. 17/25 Dallas Baptist. - The Newman squad has allowed 81.4 points from opponents this season while scoring 77.1 points per contest. - NU has captured a team free throw percentage of 76.2%. Their average from the stripe ranks second in the Heartland Conference and 33rd nationally. Ben Ayre currently leads the Heartland, from the free throw line, with an 88.3% mark. - Though he has only started in four of the Jets 18 contests this season, Dametrius Walker leads the Newman squad averaging 15.2 points per game. RIVALRY AGAINST NU The series between the squads dates back to the 2014 season, where Newman narrowly won the first meeting in Wichita, Kan. (Jan. 23, 2014). Since then, the rivalry has become tied up at four wins apiece. LCU took the most recent meeting inside Rip Griffin Center (Feb. 16, 2017) last season. Of the eight games played in the series, the road team has won on only one occasion. LCU overcame the Jets in their second overall meeting in Wichita, Kan. (Jan. 8, 2015). PRIOR MEETING WITH NU LUBBOCK, Texas (February 16, 2017) Lubbock Christian University sophomore Brennen Fowler led the Chaparrals with a 69.2% shooting performance and a teamhigh 18 points to help kick off their final four-game home stand with an Heartland Conference win over Newman University Thursday night inside Rip Griffin Center. Newman jumped out to an early lead after a three-pointer by Allen Wilson. Fowler responded with back-to-back buckets to give the Chaps their first lead of the game at with 12 minutes left in the half. Lubbock Christian kept the Jets at bay and took an 11-point lead with just under two and a half minutes remaining in the period. However, NU came roaring back and closed out the half on a 10-1 run. The Chaparrals went into the break with a edge over Newman. Ridrell Holman provided the lift for LCU with 10 points in the opening period of play. Holman shot an impressive 80% (4-of-5) clip from the field and 2-for-2 from downtown. Brennen Fowler added eight points on 57.1% (4-of-7) shooting. As a team, the Chaps posted an efficient half by shooting 53.1% (17-of-32) from the field and 7-for-10 from the free throw line. Marcus Arrington was perfect from the stripe and added all six of his first half points from the free throw line. Allen Wilson (13 points) and Daniel Green (10 points) were the only Newman players to break into double-scoring figures in the first half. The Jets shined bright on the glass and outrebounded LCU in the opening period. NU was sent to three free throw line 16 times in the half and converted on 14 to capture an 87.5% mark. Fowler struck first for LCU in the second period with a layup in the opening minute. Newman s Kevin Bryant brought the Jets within one-point after knocking down a pair of free throws at the 17:23 mark. Marcos Schuster then sparked a 10-0 run for LCU that allowed the Chaps to take a lead just six minutes in to the second half. Newman once again began chipping away at the Lubbock Christian edge and eventually moved ahead of the Chaps after a trey by Taylor Schieber with 7:57 left in the contest. The lead changed hands seven more times within the next six minutes of play before the Chaparrals scored the final five points of the game to take an victory over Newman. LCU continued their offensive tirade by shooting 56.3% (15-of-28) from the field in the second half. Brennen Fowler and Tyler Rogers each added 10 points in the period and accounted for 20 of Lubbock Christian s 36 points in the final 20 minutes. Newman held the Chaps to 1-of-6 from the three-point line in the final period and only allowed LCU to convert 5-of-7 from the free throw line. Taylor Schieber woke up for the Jets and scored 17 points in the half. Schieber s 5-of-6 shooting helped push the Newman squad to a 44.4% (12-of-27) average from the field in the second period. Lubbock Christian had three players in double figures in scoring. Fowler led the offensive charge with 18 points. Tyler Rogers added in 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Senior Ridrell Holman accounted for 14 points and five rebounds. Rogers and Holman each sunk two three-pointers to account for all of LCU s triples for the evening.

3 AT LCU: 7th Season (111-79) OVERALL: 7th Season (111-79) PERSONAL HOMETOWN: Lubbock, Texas SPOUSE: Holly CHILDREN: Ashton, Ethan EDUCATION Texas Tech / 1989 HEAD COACH TODD DUNCAN COACHING EXPERIENCE Trinity Christian School (15 seasons) LCU (7th season) DUNCAN S YEAR-BY-YEAR RESULTS Todd Duncan enters his seventh season leading the men s basketball program after becoming the seventh head coach in program history during his debut in Duncan holds an all-time record of overseeing the Chaps through the season. That includes a pair of Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament appearances, and finishing at least third place or better in two of the past three seasons they have been in the Heartland Conference. Duncan has coached seven All-SAC selections and five Heartland All-Conference players. In , he guided the team to a program record seven consecutive conference wins and pieced together the third best 20-game start in program history (14-6) during the program s first year competing within NCAA Division II. LCU responded off a finish in with a record in , which was their first season eligible for postseason play. They went 14-1 at home and qualified for the NCAA Tournament, which led to LCU upsetting top-seeded Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas at the South Central Regional Tournament. Prior to his success at LCU, Duncan spent 15 seasons as the athletic director and head boy s basketball coach at Trinity Christian School in Lubbock. At TCHS, Duncan led the Lions to eight Final Four appearances in the TAPPS State Tournament, including a number four ranking during his final season where the Lions finished the year with a 32-4 record. Duncan amassed over 400 career wins during his tenure and led his team to a state championship in After graduating from local Coronado High School, Duncan began his college career at Midland College, where he played alongside Mookie Blaylock from Duncan holds Midland College s single-season records for three-point shooting percentage (.584) and free throw shooting (86.9%) from the season. He returned home in 1987 after transferring to Texas Tech University and suiting up with the Red Raiders from Duncan is the Red Raiders career three-point shooting percentage leader with a mark of 46%. In just two seasons with the Red Raiders, Duncan knocked down 132 three-pointers to rank ninth all-time. Duncan played in several pro leagues following his tenure at Tech, including stops in the Global Basketball Association with the Pensacola HotShots and also in the Chinese Professional League. Duncan was also very active with the Sports For Christ, bringing basketball and ministry to Panama and Trinidad Tobago. He is also very instrumental in the Todd Duncan Basketball Camps, which he has conducted annually since COACHING STAFF ASSISTANT COACH: JASON IMES STUDENT MANAGER: J.T. Assistant Coach Jason Imes Imes joined the Chaps coaching staff during the season after 10 seasons at Texas Tech University working under Bob and Pat Knight. Imes joined the Red Raiders in 2001 while pursuing a Masters of Science in Sport Management and assisted with all the areas of the day-to-day operations. In 2003, Imes became Tech s assistant video coordinator and then served as the Director of Video Operations during the season. He also assisted in coordinating team travel and directed the Pat Knight Summer Basketball Camps. The Portage, Indiana native graduated from Indiana University in 2001 with a B.S. in Secondary Education. During his time at Indiana, Imes served as a student manager from on the Hoosier s staff overseen by Bob Knight.

DENVER, Colorado (November 10, 2017) Lubbock Christian University men s basketball opened up their campaign Friday afternoon at Regis Fieldhouse in Denver, Colo. The Chaps squared off against a No. 9 ranked Colorado School of Mines squad in the annual Rocky Mountain/Heartland Conference Crossover Challenge. Despite a mammoth second half performance by the LCU squad, the Chaparrals ultimately fell to the Orediggers in a game that went down to the wire. Junior Brennen Fowler led Lubbock Christian with 23 points, nine rebounds and three assists in the season-opener. Fowler opened up the scoring for LCU with an early layup. Despite his efforts, Colorado Mines came screaming back on a 14-2 run to take a 14-4 lead over the Chaps at the 16:09 mark of the opening period. CSM began to fall into a rhythm that disallowed the Chaparrals to pull any closer than a 10-point margin until a layup by Fowler cut the Oredigger s lead to eight with 7:01 left in the half. However, a pair of free throws and a layup by the Mines offense opened their lead back to 12, 30-18, with just under six minutes to play. Then, junior Isaac Asrat went on a heater scoring LCU s next 10 points to cut the Chap deficit to at the 1:14 mark. Fowler knocked down an old-fashioned three-point play, but Colorado Mines ultimately scored the last bucket of the half on a layup by Zach Rusk to give the Orediggers a lead at the break. Lubbock Christian was led in the opening period by some sharp shooting from Asrat who went 4-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from downtown for 15 first-half points. As a team, the Chaparrals shot 39.3% (11-of-28) from the field and 4-of-7 (57.1%) from beyond the arc. Fowler led the charge on the boards with five of LCU s 19 rebounds for the half. Luke Schroepfer led the Orediggers in the period with 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting and a pair of three-pointers. Overall, Colorado Mines drained five shots from beyond the arc and 15-of-32 field goals for a 46.9% shooting average. Schroepfer and Rusk combined for all four of CSM s free throws in the half to give their team a perfect mark from the stripe. Once again, Fowler struck first in the second half with an early layup to narrow the Colorado Mines lead to six points. Schroepfer then scored seven of the Orediggers next nine points to take a lead over LCU with 17:05 left to play. Senior Marcos Schuster then answered with his first three-pointer of the game for the Chaps. CSM continued to press on the offensive end, however, and jumped to a lead, their largest of the contest, with 15:02 on the clock. LCU s Jay Workman came back with a layup that sparked a 13-6 run for the Chaparrals that was capped off at the 11:39 mark with a Ja Qualyn Gilbreath trey. Colorado Mines jumped to their final double-digit lead after a layup by Adam Laine, placing the score at in favor of the Orediggers. Schuster once again struck from long-range initiating a 9-2 run for the Chaparrals that ended after a layup by Workman with 8:10 left in the contest. The squads then began trading points before Gilbreath knocked down a bucket inside the paint to cut the Orediggers lead to with just over four minutes to play. Workman capitalized on a fast break lay-in at the 2:25 mark to regain the lead for LCU at The advantage was short lived, however, as Ben Clare converted from short range to return the lead to CSM with 1:34 on the clock. Ben Sonnefield wrapped a bow on the game for Colorado Mines with a last second free throw for a final score of for the Orediggers. The Chaparrals outscored Colorado Mines in the period on 17-of-32 shooting (53.1%) from the field. Schuster, Gilbreath and Asrat combined for all five of LCU s three-pointers in the final half. Schuster sank four second-half free throws to help Lubbock Christian to an 8-for-10 free throw effort in the period. Fowler led the Chaps with 6-of-9 from the field and a pair of free throws for 14 points in the half. LCU also outrebounded the Orediggers in the second period. Colorado Mines had four players in double-figures, but were led by Schroepfer and Clare who posted 17 points each. Saturday afternoon with an loss to Regis University at the Rocky Mountain/Heartland Conference Crossover Challenge. LCU junior Brennen Fowler led the Chaparrals and flirted with a double-double capturing 16 points and nine rebounds in the effort. Once again, the Chaps were unable to overcome a slow first half which proved to be their downfall. Jay Workman had the game s first points on a mid-range jumper after a steal by Fowler to kick off a 7-2 run for the Chaps. The LCU streak was capped by a Marcos Schuster three-pointer at the 16:42 mark. Regis Avonte Nelms answered with back-to-back triples to give the Rangers their first lead of the day. Workman rained in another shot from three-point range to put Lubbock Christian up for the final time. Ryan Beisty then converted a layup at the 12:38 mark to regain the lead for Regis at marking the game s final lead change. Following the lay-in, the Rangers went on a 15-point scoring rampage for a 16-point lead, their largest of the opening period, at with just over seven minutes on the clock. Asrat knocked down a jumper inside the paint to begin cutting away at the Chaparral deficit, but the Rangers kept LCU at bay. Lubbock Christian s Micah Bailey rung up a lay-in with 23 seconds left in the half, shrinking the RU lead to six points at Beisty quickly answered with a three-pointer at the last second putting Regis up at halftime. The Chaparrals 29 first-half points were split among seven players. Fowler and Asrat led the offensive efforts for LCU with eight points apiece in the half. As a team, the Chaps knocked down 11 field goals on 30 attempts for a 36.7% mark. Five of their 11 jumpers came from behind the arc with Asrat and Schuster knocking down two each and Workman adding one of his own. Ryan Beisty led the Rangers with nine points and five rebounds in the half. As a team, Regis shot 39.4% from the field (13-of-33) and 7-of-17 (41.2%) from downtown. Though they attempted a 14-point comeback, the Chaps ultimately fell to the Falcons by a final score of Junior guard Isaac Asrat had himself a monstrous game scoring 21 points on six three-pointers and a trio of free throws for Lubbock Christian. It was Texas Permian Basin that got onto the scoreboard first for the evening jumping out to a quick 5-0 lead over the Chaparrals. LCU quickly found their feet and roared back to steal the lead at 10-9 after a long-range triple by Jay Workman at the 13:33 mark of the opening half. Lubbock Christian s advantage was short-lived as UTPB responded with a 16-3 scoring run that ended at the 8:04 mark. LCU sophomore Kentton Williams marked his second bucket of the night to disrupt the Falcon s offense and cut the Chaparral deficit to with 7:45 on the clock. Texas Permian Basin answered with a field goal of their own to take their largest lead of the half at 12 points on a jumper by Amari Bryant. Stephen Lennox took possession before being fouled and heading to the line for a pair of Lubbock Christian free throws. After Lennox converted on both shots, the Chaparrals proceeded to throw down a 9-2 run that was highlighted by five consecutive points from Ja Qualyn Gilbreath to bring the UTPB lead to with 2:37 left in the half. Lubbock Christian gave up six more points in the period while scoring two more free throws setting the score to in favor of the Falcons at halftime. LCU once again got out to a slow first half shooting 33.3% from the field on 8-of-24 attempts. Williams and Gilbreath led the Chaps with seven points apiece in the period to keep LCU within striking distance. Jay Workman posted six points in the half on two of Lubbock Christian s three buckets from behind the arc. The second half opened up with over a full minute of scoreless play before Daeshon Francis netted a couple of free throws for Texas Permian Basin at the 18:55 mark. Just over a minute later, McPherson once again made his presence known with a triple that extended UTPB s lead to 14 points, 44-30, their largest of the night. The Chaps came back and moved the ball around before Marcos Schuster found Isaac Asrat, who had two points in the opening half, for a three-pointer to pump some life back into the LCU offense. Fowler jumped into the scoring column early as well for Lubbock Christian with a quick jumper of his own to extend the LCU lead. Randall answered with a triple to even the score up at 5-5. Xavier Hunter responded with five unanswered points for the Saints to give Randall their final lead of the game. Asrat then began to find his stroke and knocked down his second trey of the night to return the advantage to the Chaparrals at for the final lead change of the game. Lubbock Christian began to enforce their will on Randall by going on a 16-4 run within the next four minutes to take a lead with 8:33 remaining in the opening period. RU attempted to close the gap after a jumper by Kashus Lyons pulled the Saints within six points, 40-34, at the 4:15 mark. LCU then closed the half on an 11-4 streak to take a lead at halftime. Within the opening period, Asrat, Fowler, Schuster and Gilbreath had already tallied double-scoring figures. Asrat led the way with 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three-point range. Fowler was not far behind as he added in 14 points of his own. Both Asrat and Fowler scooped up five rebounds each in the half for LCU. As a team, Lubbock Christian shot a scorching 6-of-12 from downtown in addition to 63.3% (19-of-30) from the field. The Chaparral squad also held the advantage on the glass outrebounding Randall 17-9 in the half. Lubbock Christian proceeded to create a 15-3 run that was capped by a trio of free throws from Asrat to put LCU up Zach Stepp made his way onto the court for LCU and knocked down his first points of the year with a trey just inside the final six minutes of play. Stephen Lennox netted a free throw at the 3:49 mark to give Lubbock Christian a 31-point lead, their largest of the night. Though the Saints were able to knock down a jumper with 18 seconds remaining, the Chaps cruised to their first victory of the season with a finish. Asrat upstaged his first half performance with 16 points in the final period. Lubbock Christian concluded the second period shooting 14-for-26 for a 53.8% mark from the field. Asrat notched four more triples to help the Chaparrals to a 6-of-13 mark (46.2%) from behind the arc in the second half. His eight three-pointers ranks third all-time for three-point field goals made in a contest and has not been accomplished since Tyler Kennedy s performance against Mid-America Christian University (2/9/12). The record for most single-game Chaparral three-pointers was set in 1988 by Glenn Seale s 10 made three pointers (12/5/88). As a team, LCU marked season-best averages in field goals made (58.9%; 33-of-56), three-point field goals made (48.0%; 12-of-25) and rebounds recorded (36). Once again, Isaac Asrat led the Chaps scoring 23 points marking his third straight game with 20 or more points. In total, four Chaparral players tallied double-scoring figures. Kentton Williams and Brennen Fowler were each two rebounds shy of posting double-doubles. The win gives Lubbock Christian a 2-0 record at home this season. The Lobos night started off on the wrong foot as head coach Clif Carroll s team was charged with a technical foul in the pregame for failing to provide his starting lineup at the appropriate time. With the foul enforced, Isaac Asrat stepped up and knocked down a free throw putting the Chaps up 1-0 before the opening tipoff. LCU then drained their next two buckets taking a 5-0 lead within the first 50 seconds of regulation. Sul Ross came right back and ultimately took an lead after Caleb Thomasson split a pair of free throws at the 16:20 mark. SRSU s lead was short-lived as Marcos Schuster hit back-to-back jumpers to regain the lead for the Chaps 40 seconds later. Williams capped off a 10-2 run for the Chaparrals with a layup at the 13:12 mark. Stephen Walker cut the LCU lead to five with a layup for Sul Ross, but that would be as close as the Lobos would get for the remainder of the half. A three-pointer by Asrat gave the Chaps their largest lead of the half, 32-15, before closing out the period with a 13-point advantage at Lubbock Christian outscored the Lobos from inside the paint in the opening period by an 18-6 margin. SAN ANGELO, Texas (November 24, 2017) Lubbock Christian University dropped their fourth road game of the year following a loss to Texas A&M University Commerce Friday evening in San Angelo, Texas. Four Chaps registered double-scoring figures in the contest that featured 53 fouls between both teams. Junior Isaac Asrat led the Chaparrals with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the floor. Brennen Fowler also put up an impressive performance recording a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. The night got off on the wrong foot for Lubbock Christian as Texas A&M Commerce capitalized on a turnover by Marcos Schuster in the opening minute of play to take a 2-0 lead. Fowler gave the Chaps their only lead change of the game with back-to-back buckets from inside the paint. The Chaparrals were elevated on the shoulders of Brennen Fowler who flirted with a double-double and posted 24 points and nine rebounds. Isaac Asrat finished right behind him tallying 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting and a game-high four three pointers. Angelo State streaked out to a quick lead after scoring the game s first nine points. The Chaps responded with eight points of their own to cut into the Angelo State lead. ASU continued to keep LCU at bay and even stretched their lead to an eight-point margin, 20-12, with 9:37 left in the half. LCU pulled within two after a Ja Qualyn Gilbreath layup with 5:30 on the clock. The Rams came back with a 7-2 scoring run to return their lead to with just under three and a half minutes to play in the period. Gilbreath marked the last points of the half on an and-one situation. The final 2:54 played out with neither team scoring, allowing the Rams to head into halftime with a lead over the Chaparrals. Isaac Asrat and Kentton Williams led the Chaps with 19 points each, but LCU was unable to top the Patriots and ultimately fell by a final score of LCU jumped out to a quick 6-4 lead after a pair of three-pointers by Asrat and Williams to open up the game. The Chaparrals marked a season-low 37.1% from the field but came one rebound shy of a season-high performance on the boards. Isaac Asrat (26 points) and Ja Qualyn Gilbreath (15 points) marked double-scoring figures for LCU in the loss. LCU s afternoon started out on the right foot as the Chaps jumped out to an early 9-3 lead over the Lions within the opening four minutes of play. Arkansas Fort Smith snapped out of their slumber and came back with eleven unanswered points to take their first lead of the afternoon at 14-9 with 13:06 on the clock. Four Chaparral players recorded double-scoring figures, but junior Brennen Fowler led the way for LCU with 19 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth doubledouble performance of the season. Lubbock Christian got off to a sluggish start scoring 27 points in the opening period of play. The Chaps bounced back and recorded 46 points in the second half to finish the day shooting a 41.9% (26-of-62) from the field. Despite doing a majority of their damage within the paint and outscoring the Greyhounds in the key, the Chaparrals were plagued with errors as they committed 19 turnovers for the contest. Because LCU was unable to take care of the ball, Eastern New Mexico converted 17 points off of turnovers. Zach Parker and Jamani Pierce led the way for the Greyhounds tying for game-high scoring performances and dropping 20 points each. The Chaparrals held St. Mary s University to 17 points in the first half en route to an Heartland Conference win inside Rip Griffin Center. Isaac Asrat marked a game-high 17 points, while Brennen Fowler notched his fifth double-double of the season on 14 points and 13 rebounds. LCU jumped out early with Fowler and Asrat combining for the Chap s first five buckets to take an 11-8 lead over the Rattlers, inside the opening eight minutes. Marcos Schuster struck next with a three-pointer, sparking a 15-2 LCU scoring run to take a lead with 5:17 remaining in the half. St. Mary s would be held to seven points over the remainder of the half, while LCU finished the period shooting 6-of-8 to take a lead heading into the locker room. Lubbock Christian held the St. Mary s offense to 25.9% (7-of-27) shooting in the opening period. Asrat led the Chaps at the break with all 17 of his points for the game on four three-pointers and 6-of-9 shooting. Fowler wasted no time with his double-double, picking up 10 points and 10 rebounds in the half. The LCU offense knocked down a staggering 53.3% (16-of-30) shooting performance in the opening 20 minutes. The Chaparrals didn t let off the gas after the intermission and quickly extended their lead to 29 points, 53-24, after a layup by Fowler at the 15:43 mark. Things got worse for St. Mary s three minutes later, as Freddie Williams was charged with a technical foul that led to four consecutive free throw makes from LCU s Ja Qualyn Gilbreath. Rashaan Proctor provided the stamp for Lubbock Christian on an old-fashioned three-point play, putting the Chaps up with 1:09 left on the clock. Though the Rattlers scored five more points before the buzzer, LCU was able to cruise to an final score. Lubbock Christian followed up their first half with a 59.1% (13-of-22) field goal average in the second period. For the game, the Chaparral squad tabbed a 55.8% (29-of-52) shooting performance. Gilbreath (13 points) joined Asrat and Fowler as the lone LCU players in double-scoring figures. CLAREMORE, Oklahoma (January 10, 2018) Wednesday night proved troublesome for Lubbock Christian University where the Chaps marked a season-low 55 points in a road loss to Rogers State University in Claremore, Okla. Kentton Williams stood at the forefront of the Chaparral offense scoring 14 points on four field goals and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Brennen Fowler registered his second consecutive double-double performance, sixth of the season, with 12 points and 14 boards. Lubbock Christian found an early rhythm and jumped to out to a quick 8-0 lead at the beginning the night. Rogers State responded by heating up from distance and nailing their first four field goals from behind the arc, narrowing the Chaparral lead to Marcos Schuster immediately answered with his first points of the evening on a triple of his own that sparked eight unanswered points from LCU. The Chaps closed out the half shooting 4-of-10 from the field allowing the Hillcats to take a narrow lead at the break. After opening up the evening scoring on their first four field goal attempts, LCU closed out the first period with a 48% (12-of-25) average from the floor. Williams eight points led all Chap scorers in the opening 20 minutes on 3-of-6 shooting and a pair of free throws. Although Lubbock Christian s defensive play held Rogers State to a 44.4% (12-of-27) shooting performance, the Hillcats were able to knock down five three-pointers while outrebounding the Chaps at the half. The second half is where things went off the rails for LCU as they missed their opening four field goal attempts allowing Rogers State to extend their lead to Though Lubbock Christian had more luck getting to the free throw line in the final period, they were unable to pull any closer than four-points of the Hillcats throughout the remainder of the night. RSU closed out the contest with their final nine points coming from the charity stripe. Rogers State finished the night with a 13-2 scoring run capping a victory over the Chaparrals. LCU simply went cold in the second half logging a 28.6% (8-of-28) shooting mark. The Chaps finished the game shooting 20-of-53 (37.7%) from the field despite converting 12-for-14 (85.7%) from the free throw line. A majority of Lubbock Christian s points came from the key as Lubbock Christian outscored the Hillcats 30-6 from inside the paint. Lubbock Christian falls to a 6-10 overall record this season and 2-3 inside Heartland Conference standings. The Chaps were three points shy of the century mark as they downed the Hilltoppers inside Rip Griffin Center. Five LCU players registered double-figures in the scoring column but were led by junior Isaac Asrat who went off for a game-high 23 points. Both teams kick started their offense early with seven lead changes in the opening six minutes of the contest. Dorian Lopez knocked down a triple for the Hilltoppers at the 13:26 mark to give SEU a advantage. However, Marcos Schuster put the Chaps back on top a minute and half later with a pair of free throws. LCU traded baskets with St. Edward s over the next four minutes until Brennen Fowler drained a mid-range jumper to put the Chaparrals up by five for their largest lead of the half. The Hilltoppers came back with a 19-4 scoring run giving SEU a 10-point lead with 2:17 to play in the opening period. Once again, Schuster provided the spark for LCU scoring five of the Chaps next seven points to close out the half and cut the St. Edward s lead to at the break. There were 13 lead changes and 10 tied scored in the first half alone. Though St. Edward s went into the intermission with the lead and a 48.6% performance from the field, LCU proved their efficiency shooting 15-of-28 (53.6%) from the floor. Schuster was on a rampage for the Chaps scoring 17 points in the period, going 6-for-7 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc. SEU managed to convert 14 points off of Lubbock Christian s 10 first half turnovers. Kobe Thompson was the only nonstarter to jump in the first half scoring column after netting four free throws and a two-point bucket. Although St. Edward s got on the board first with a layup to kick off the second period, Asrat quickly responded for LCU by drilling a three-pointer that leveled the score at Two minutes later, Kentton Williams tied the ballgame for the 13th and final time on a follow up tip-in that brought the score to Lucas Doria immediately came back with put back of his own for the Hilltoppers to regain the lead. The Chaparrals followed up their stellar first-half shooting performance with an even more impressive 56.4% average in the second-half. After scoring just four points in the opening period, Asrat found his rhythm and scored 19 points in the final 20 minutes on 8-of-12 shooting and a trio of three-pointers. Brennen Fowler pulled down 10 points and 12 rebounds in the second half alone. All told, Lubbock Christian closed out the contest with a 55.2% (37-of-67) field goal average and 52.6% (10-of-19) performance from downtown. The Hilltoppers were overpowered on the glass allowing the Chaps to a rebounding advantage. Asrat s scoring barrage marks his eighth performance with 20 points or more this season. Brennen Fowler led all scorers with 22 points and nine boards and sophomore Ja Qualyn Gilbreath s 17 points off a 7-of-8 shooting performance helped the Chaparrals to a 54.7% field goal average over the Eagles. LCU came out swinging on their way to an early 15-8 lead following a layup from Marcos Schuster at the 13:33 mark of the opening half. Oklahoma Christian quickly responded with an 11-0 scoring run that gave them a lead. After the quick lull by the Chaparral offense, Lubbock Christian found their feet and strung together eight unanswered points to regain their advantage at The Chaps were able to keep the OC squad contained for the remainder of the half, while outscoring the Eagles 13-8 over the final five minutes and taking a lead at halftime.
