USI was forecasted to place fourth in the GLVC East Division in Stein honored in the preseason. USI junior guard Alex Stein was named preseason honorable mention All-American by Street & Smith s College Basketball and preseason All-American by Basketball Times. Last year, Stein was named first-team All-GLVC and set a USI single -season record with 151 free throws made. Stein goes over 1,000 points. Junior guard Alex Stein became 19th Eagle to pass the 1,000 point mark November 11 in the in the win over Malone University. Stein, who is 10th all-time with 1,214 career points, needs 12 points to pass DeJuan Rowser and move into ninth place at USI. Carter is third over 7-foot. Junior center Davis Carter is the third player over seven-foot tall in the history of the program. Carter follows seven-foot-six All-American John Hollinden ( ) and seven-foot-two Antonio Reyes ( ). Non-conference foes have tough going against USI. USI has started with a 9-3 mark in non-conference play. The Eagles are (.886) against non-glvc teams during the last 23-plus seasons. Of the 28 losses, two have come in the NCAA Division II Tournament Finals and four in the NCAA II Midwest Regional. USI also has won 50-straight non-conference games at the PAC since losing to Northwest Missouri State University in USI posts winning record for 25-straight years.
