Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in the Sports Arena. Georgia State (8-11, 3-6 CAA) will look to snap a five-game losing streak, suffering a cold shooting night in Philadelphia on Monday. Drexel scored a victory, as the Panthers made their fourth trip up the east coast in less than two weeks and fatigue set in early. Junior Eric Buckner and senior Marques Johnson led the Panthers with eight points a piece, while sophomore James Vincent came off the bench to tie a career-high with four blocks. Old Dominion (15-5, 6-3 CAA) earned a win over UNC Wilmington on Monday night. Frank Hassell scored a career high 25 points, while collecting 13 rebounds. Kent Bazemore came up with a career high six steals and Chris Cooper added a career high tying nine points and six boards. Senior Dante Curry continues to be the Panthers top presence from beyond the arc, leading the Panthers with 47 three-pointers this season. Curry is shooting 41.2 percent from three-point range and is among the top three in the CAA in both categories. Buckner blocked two more shots against the Dragons and now has 37 on the season, just three shy of moving into the single season top 10. Head coach Rod Barnes continues to use one of the deepest benches in the country as eight players are averaging over 15 minutes per contest and 10 players see double-digit minutes. Scoring has been equally distributed, as eight players are scoring at least five points per game and only one, Eric Buckner, is averaging in double figures. After struggling at the line early in the season, the Panthers are shooting 71.0 percent (140-of-197) over the course of the last eight games. Old Dominion leads the all-time series 12-2, including three straight dating back to the season. Georgia State s last win over ODU was a victory on Jan. 3, 2009 in the Sports Arena. TOUGH SLEDDING After coming off an extremely challenging stretch of four trips up the east coast with a home game in-between, the Panthers will continue to face the upper echelon of the CAA at home on Wednesday night. In the lone home game, the Panthers saw their hearts ripped out again as Delaware nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer on Saturday. It marked the third game the Panthers have seen taken away from them at the buzzer this year. After a weather postponement, GSU began its road odyssey at James Madison on Thursday, Jan. 13, then played at George Mason less than 48 hours later in a 2 p.m. game on Saturday, Jan. 15. The Panthers returned to Atlanta Sunday, and then travelled back to Virginia last Tuesday to play at VCU on Wednesday, Jan. 19. The swing concluded at Drexel on Monday. Those four teams have combined records of overall, CAA, including a 35-2 record at home. Despite their recent struggles, the Panthers stand at 3-6 in CAA play and have earned victories over current CAA co-leader VCU and James Madison, currently tied for fifth place. THE SERIES WITH OLD DOMINION Old Dominion leads the all-time series 12-2, including three straight dating back to the season. The Monarchs have only lost to State once in CAA play, as State s only win came on Jan. 3 in Atlanta, a victory. Old Dominion won both meetings last year, including a victory in Atlanta. Former Panther Joe Dukes scored 22 points for the Panthers in his final home game, but four players reached double figures for the Monarchs, led by Keyon Carter and Kent Bazemore with 14 points each. The Panthers last win in the series was a victory on Jan. 3, 2009 in Atlanta. Old Dominion 2-12 H: 1-6 A: 2-5 CAA: H L A W /31/80...H L A L /12/06...H L /15/06... A L /29/07... His accuracy rate from beyond the arc is.412. Curry knocked down seven three-pointers against UNC Wilmington on Jan. 5, less than a week after hitting seven treys against Chattanooga on Dec. 30. The night before, he hit six against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Before his pair of seven three-point games, the last Panther to hit at least seven in a game was Thomas Terrell during the season against Florida Atlantic. With a team-leading 47 treys on the season, Curry has already exceeded his total for his first two years in a Panther uniform. Over the last nine games, Curry is averaging 12.0 points per game, including 36-for-85 from beyond the arc, an average of 3.0 treys per game in that stretch VISION Senior Dante Curry and junior Eric Buckner became the first Panthers under head coach Rod Barnes to each score 20 points in the same game. The duo led the Panthers to the championship of the Dr. Pepper Classic, as Buckner scored 23 points on 10-of-11 shooting and Curry knocked down seven three-pointers to tie his thencareer-high with 21 points. His seven three-pointers were the most since Thomas Terrell knocked down the same against FAU during the season.

3 HEAD COACH ROD BARNES Rod Barnes, former Naismith National Coach of the Year, enters his fourth season as the Georgia State University head coach In his first three years in Atlanta, Barnes brought renewed energy and interest to the Georgia State program while laying the groundwork for future success with recruiting and an emphasis on work ethic and fundamentals. The Panthers have performed extremely well in the classroom since Barnes arrival, as all ten seniors who have completed their eligibility have graduated, while an 11th, Marques Johnson, has already graduated entering his senior year. Barnes, who spent eight years as the head coach at Mississippi, is an 18-year veteran of college coaching and was an assistant coach in at Oklahoma. He was honored as the Naismith Coach of the Year as well as Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year in , when he led Ole Miss to its most successful season ever. His squad set a school-record for wins with a 27-8 record, advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the only time in school history and achieved a final national ranking of No. 9. A former All-Southeastern Conference player at Ole Miss, Barnes is the only person to earn All-SEC honors as a player and then be named SEC Coach of the Year. Barnes compiled a record in eight seasons at Ole Miss ( ), guiding the Rebels to four postseason bids, including three trips to the NCAA Tournament. Barnes first Ole Miss squad recorded the first NCAA Tournament win in school history with a 1999 first-round victory over Villanova. Two years later, the Rebels picked up NCAA Tournament victories over Iona and Notre Dame to reach the Sweet 16. He also spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Ole Miss under Rob Evans before being elevated to head coach on April 9, In addition to coaching the only three NCAA Tournament victories in school history, Barnes was part of five of the six NCAA appearances in Ole Miss annals as head or assistant coach. A native of Satartia, Miss., and 1988 graduate of Ole Miss, Barnes, 45, began his career as an assistant coach at Livingston for three years before returning to his alma mater in Rod Barnes as a Head Coach Mississippi (NCAA 2nd round) Mississippi (NIT 2nd round) Mississippi (NCAA Sweet 16) Mississippi (NCAA) Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Total, Mississippi Georgia State Georgia State Georgia State Georgia State Total, Georgia State Career Record DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE Junior-transfer Brandon McGee recorded double-doubles in backto-back games earlier this season and has just missed several more. He scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Panthers win over Florida A&M, before scoring a career-high 23 points and pulling down 10 boards in the Panthers loss to Georgia Southern. He just missed a double-double in State s win over Western Michigan, scoring 16 points and pulling down eight rebounds. He finished with 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench against Delaware on Jan. 22. McGee scored a rare game on the Panthers trip to the Bahamas, scoring 21 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in State s final exhibition game in August. WHITE GETS THE NOD Freshman Devonta White made his first collegiate start against Florida A&M and led the Panthers to victory. The Alpharetta native score 13 points, just one shy of a career-high, pulling down five rebounds and dishing out three assists in 31 minutes of action. He has now started five games at point guard, leading the Panthers to a 4-1 since taking over the starting spot at point guard, including State s upset victory of VCU on Jan. 3. However, he has missed the last seven games with a sprained ankle. DOBY S DEBUT Freshman Harold Doby made quite an impression in his first game with the Panthers. The Augusta native came off the bench to score 19 points and pull down five rebounds in 30 minutes of action against McNeese State. The 19 points were the most for a GSU freshman in his debut in the last 20 years. He finished the game shooting 7-of-10 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. ALI S BUZZER BEATER Jihad Ali rebounded a missed shot and made a layup as time expired to lift Georgia State to victory over James Madison in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams on Dec. 4. With the score tied 62-all, James Madison s Devon Moore went to the free throw line with 3.5 seconds left. He made the first to put the Dukes ahead, but missed the second, and Brandon McGee rebounded for State. After a timeout, the Panthers Harold Doby inbounded the ball from in front of the JMU bench with 2.7 seconds on the clock. Doby found Marques Johnson, who got a good look from the wing, but the JMU s Andrey Semenov managed to deflect the shot. Ali grabbed the rebound under the basket and laid it in just ahead of the horn. DANTE S INFERNO Making his season debut, senior Dante Curry came off the bench to score 15 points on 5-of-8 from three-point range, to help lead the Panthers to an win over former conference rival Troy. More impressive was the fact that he played just 13 minutes, but sparked the Panthers to their top offensive output of the early season. In his first ever game with the Panthers, Curry scored 21 points against Georgia Tech in Dec. of BAHAMAS TRIP Georgia State s season got off to an early start as the Panthers took an offseason international trip for the first time in school history.

Pressley is a 6-8 power forward from E.E. Waddell High School, where he played for Jermaine Walker. He is the first player to sign with the Panthers this season. Pressley, known for having great energy and a strong build, is a super interior defender. ESPN.com listed Pressley with excellent size, big hands and strong legs. He goes for the boards out of his area and is a fine outlet passer. Because of his wing span, he plays much bigger than his 6-8 height. He is very active running the floor and is an excellent offensive rebounder in transition. The site has him listed as No. 42 at his position in the country. MAKING THE GRADE The Georgia State basketball team has excelled in the classroom under head coach Rod Barnes. In Barnes first three seasons, all 10 seniors have graduated, and one of this year s seniors, Marques Johnson, has already earned his degree. Barnes program achieved a record-setting performance last spring, earning its highest ever semester grade point average at 2.96, which raised the team s cumulative GPA to 2.76, also an all-time high under Barnes. The Panthers have posted a GPA of 2.75 or better for four straight semesters. Last season, Jihad Ali became the first Panther to earn a selection to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Academic team. Ali (2008 & 2010), Ousman Krubally (2009), Kevin Lott (2009 & 2010), Trae Goldson (2010), James Fields (2010) and Daniel Brown (2010) have each earned the CAA Commissioner s Academic Award under Barnes. 469 AND COUNTING Georgia State has made at least one three-point field goal in 469 straight games, dating back to the season. The last team to hold the Panthers without a trey was Stetson on Feb. 18, ON THE DEFENSIVE In each of Rod Barnes first three seasons at the helm, Georgia State has played strong defense, allowing its opponents an average of 64.5 points per game entering the season. This season, the Panthers are holding opponents to 64.9 points per game. After Barnes first Panther team in allowed 66.2 points per game, GSU improved to 63.6 ppg allowed in an an almost identical 63.7 ppg last season. The previous Georgia State record for fewest points allowed was 68.4 in In fact, before Barnes arrived, the only others seasons in which GSU allowed fewer than 70 points per game came in a three-year stretch from (69.6) through (68.7). HOME SWEET HOME After opening the season on the road, the Panthers played three straight home games, going 2-1 over that stretch. With the win over Florida A&M, the Panthers finished a second three-game homestand with a 2-1 mark and are currently 6-3 in the friendly confines, winning three straight games before Saturday s defeat at the hands of Delaware. State finished 9-5 at home during the season. The win over Troy marked the third straight season the Panthers have won their home opener and are 3-1 in home openers under Barnes. Last year, the Panthers won their first five home games of the year and finished the season winning four of their final six.

6 LET THE CELEBRATION BEGIN Georgia State will celebrate a pair of impressive milestones in the history of the men s basketball program during the season. This season marks the 10-year and 20-year anniversary of the two squads that qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Each team, along with all of the men s basketball alums will be honored during the Feb. 12 game against Northeastern which will tip-off at noon on CSS. The Panthers became the first Georgia State men s basketball team to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. After winning the conference championship tournament, the Panthers only had to go a few blocks north to the old Omni to face Arkansas in the first round of play. Ten years later, the team put together the most impressive season in Panther history, finishing the year After rolling through the conference tournament, the Panthers entered the NCAA Tournament as an 11-seed. Rallying from 16 points down, the Panthers defeated the sixth-seeded Wisconsin Badgers, State advanced to the second round and led Maryland in the middle of the second half, before falling to the Terrapins, who eventually reached the Final Four.
