Due to Hurricane Harvey, the Mean Green will not play a road against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Islanders have canceled their weekend slate of games due to the flooding and weather conditions. Houston Baptist is 0-2 this season after starting their season in Hawaii. They had their Monday game against Baylor canceled because of the effects of Hurricane Harvey. The Mean Green are looking for their first home win of the season after dropping their first two games at home to No. 17 Arkansas and Texas. North Texas has not dropped two at home since the 2014 season when the Mean Green lost three in a row: No. 15 Oklahoma, Gonzaga and TCU. North Texas schedules tough opponents from the Power 5 conferences every year. With its 1-0 loss to Texas, North Texas is 0-1 against Big 12 opponents this season and 1-6 the last three years. With its 2-0 loss to No. 17 Arkansas, North Texas is 0-1 against SEC opponents this season and 1-3 the last two years. North Texas is in the last four years against teams from the Power 5 conferences. The Mean Green has scored five goals on the road, from five different players, but is looking for their first goal at home. Head John Hedlund has changed up the starting lineups a little bit. Cat Sebazo and Taylor Torres have started three of the four games, while Arield Diaz and Brooke Lampe started against Abilene Christian. Natalie Newell has started all four games.

3 The Mean Green soccer program was scheduled to play two south Texas schools this weekend. The road game against Texas A&M Corpus Christi game was canceled due to Hurricane Harvey, but the Houston Baptist team was able to travel for Sunday s game. UNT junior Ipi Adedokun and his certified domestic non-profit organization called World Apparel Co. will be collecting clothes and shoes at Sunday s game to help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. His organization will have a booth at the entrance of the Mean Green soccer stadium. For the second straight weekend, the Mean Green went 1-1 with a road win against Abilene Christian and a 1-0 loss to Texas. Taylor Torres and Brooke Lampe scored their first goals of the season against ACU. Texas scored a late goal goal against North Texas to take a 1-0 win. Taylor Torres scored her first goal of the 2017 season against Abilene Christian. She has started three games at forward this year for the Mean Green and leads the team with six career goals. Freshman Brooke Lampe is proving to be one of the most versatile players on the Mean Green team. She was recruited as a goalkeeper and came into camp as one of the four Mean Green goalkeepers. Once the coaches saw her playing the field, she started practicing with the field players. She came off the bench the first two games to play in the defense, started against Abilene Christian and scored from the forward position and started against Texas at the defensive midfield position. The Mean Green soccer program opened the 2017 season with a 3-0 road victory against Incarnate Word. It took 40 minutes for North Texas to get the offense going but once it started, the goals kept coming. Tori Phillips scored the first Mean Green goal of the season with a penalty kick, the first of her career. Tori Phillips led the Mean Green with three points in the 3-0 win against Incarnate Word. She scored on a penalty kick and dished out an assist with a long free kick. Phillips has enjoyed success against UIW. She recorded three points in the 2016 season-opening win against UIW. Natalie McDonough and Ariel Diaz scored their first points in a Mean Green uniform in week one. Junior transfer McDonough scored the Mean Green s second goal against Incarnate Word, finding the end of Tori Philmean green storylines lips free kick. Freshman Diaz scored her first career goal with a header. Ariel Diaz scored her first career goal in the first game of the season. Until Diaz s goal, Olivia Bagby was the last freshman to score in the season-opening game (2015) and Rachel Holden was the freshman before that in Carissa Sanders was named to the preseason All-Conference USA team for the first time in her career after being named third-team all-conference following the 2016 season. She has started in the back her first two years and moved to the central defense in 2016, and was one of three Mean Green players last year to start all 21 games and was first in minutes played. She was part of a defensive unit that recorded seven shutouts, including three in conference play. The three-time defending Conference USA regular-season champion North Texas soccer team was picked to repeat as the leader in the conference. The Mean Green were voted No. 1 in the preseason poll by the league s coaches for the second time as a member of Conference USA. North Texas has won the regular-season league title the last three years. Charlotte, the 2016 C-USA tournament champion, was picked to finish second along with Rice, which finished second in the regular season last year.. The Mean Green lost most off their offense to graduation last year. Rachel Holden, Marchelle Davis, Anna Flobeck and Hailey Sutton combined for 29 of NT s 42 goals last year. To bolster the offense, the coaching staff has added four forwards to the team to help out returners Taylor Torres and Cat Sebazco. Ariel Diaz, Natalie Newell, Aayliah Nolan and Berklee Peters will be looked upon for their scoring prowess. Four of the Mean Green s 12 newcomers are transfers. Natalie Newell and Caroline Paulette transfered to North Texas last spring and participated in spring ball. Natalie Mc- Donough is a junior transfer from Missouri and Aaliyah Nolan is a junior transfer from Navarro. The Mean Green has a pair of sisters on the team for the first time since Angela and Nikki Carter played together in Freshman Logan Bruffett has joined her sister, Lauryn, on the Mean Green soccer team. Lauryn is a junior, who played last year with North Texas after transfering from Mississippi State. Sophomore defender Madeline Guderian is the younger sister of Alison Guderian, who was a four-year letterwinner for the Mean Green from from mean green quick shots North Texas is 2-0 in the series against Houston Baptist. The Mean Green have not played UHB since 2014 when North Texas won, 2-0, on the road. Both Cat Sebazco and Tori Phillips came off the bench as freshmen to play in the game. Texas has the upper hand in the recent series against the Mean Green. The Longhorns have taken the last two games in each of the last two years by scores of 1-0. Five different players have scored for the Mean Green. Two returners (Torres, Phillips) and three newcomers (Diaz, Lampe, McDonough). The Mean Green need to start a new winning streak after Arkansas snapped the Mean Green s 17-game home winning streak on August 20. North Texas has added 12 newcomers to its roster: 8 freshmen and 4 transfers. Three of the four transfers are from Power 5 schools: Natalie McDonough (Missouri), Natalie Newell (Arkansas) and Caroline Paulette (Texas Tech). All three grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Only two members of the North Texas soccer team are from outside of Texas. Miranda Schoening is from Oxford, Alabama and Aaliyah Nolan hails from Warwick, Bermuda.

4 head coach john hedlund (71.0 percent) 22nd season - In all, Hedlund has led North Texas to 12 conference 12championships, including eight regular season titles, and four trips to the NCAA Tournament (2004, 2005, 2012, 2015). - Hedlund enters the 2017 season ranked 13th among 13 active Division I coaches nationwide with a.710 win percentage, and his 314 wins rank him 19th among all-time among Division I head coaches. - With the season-opening win in the 2016 season, John 20 Hedlund became just the 20th coach in NCAA Division I history to reach the 300-win plataeu. - Hedlund has produced 76 all-conference players since , including last year s honorees: Rachel Holden, Marchelle Davis and Carissa Sanders.
