The Tars are tied with Saint Leo for second in the standings, one game back of leader Florida Southern. Eckerd has won four in a row and is fourth in the conference, just behind Rollins and Leo. No. 19 ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: Rollins had its six-game winning streak stopped by Saint Leo last week and then fell to ninth-ranked Florida Southern on Wednesday to set up its key game at Eckerd. During the streak, the Tars were scoring 76 and allowing 62 a game, but over the last two have netted just 64 while allowing 88 points a night. In front of the largest home crowd in a decade, Rollins fell behind Southern s frantic pace and lost Kyle McClanahan led the Tars with 18 points, shooting 9-of-11 from the field. Adam Allen netted 13 with Dave Diakite adding 12 points and seven rebounds. Rollins out-shot its visitors from the field, hitting 55 percent (30-55) while Southern connected on 52 percent (36-68). The Tars were 9-of-20 from 3-point range while FSC drained 14-of-35 three-pointers. McClanahan has led the Tars in scoring the last two games and now tops the season box score with 14.2 points a game. He is second in the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 59 percent, while also ranking second in assists (5.0 apg) and seventh in steals (1.9 spg). Diakite is scoring 14.1 a game and leads the team with 6.2 rebounds a night. Adam Allen has drilled 41, 3-pointers and adds 11 a game coming off the bench. Jeff Dirkin and Chris Uhle are two of the conference s top shot-blockers, swatting 30 and 27, respectively. Rollins is third in the conference in scoring, putting up 74 a night, while the defense holds teams to 65 a game, ranking third. The Tars are the top shooting team, hitting 48 percent from the field, including a 40 percent clip from beyond the arc. Rollins also tops the league in blocks with more than 4.6 a game. The tilt against the Tritons begins Rollins second swing through the conference schedule. After Eckerd, they will then meet the bottom three teams in the standings, hosting Tampa (Feb. 6), hosting Florida Tech (Feb. 13) and visiting Lynn (Feb. 16). ECKERD AT A GLANCE: The Tritons have won four in a row and six of the last seven to sit third in the SSC standings. They have been in South Florida for the last two, beating Palm Beach Atlantic and most recently picking up an conference win over Lynn. The Fighting Knights led by one at the half, but Eckerd put up 50 in the second frame to pull away. Five Tritons scored in double figures, led by 21 points and eight rebounds from Darrien Mack.

4 Game 1 - Warner 58, Rollins 50 WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 16, 2012) - Rollins struggled from the field and couldn t answer two big Warner runs as the Tars fell to the Royals Friday night. Rollins drops to 0-1 on the year while Warner, ranked No. 10 in the NAIA national poll, improves to 5-1. Dave Diakite was the lone Tar in double figures, posting 13 points to go along with four rebounds and two steals. Kyle McClanahan filled the stat sheet with nine points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals. Chiverton Halstead led Warner with 14 points and seven rebounds. Bryce Kachinski and Ray Victor each posted 10 while Mark St. Fort put up nine points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. Buckets were hard to come by for both teams with Rollins shooting 17-of-60 (28 percent) and Warner hitting on 33 percent (17-51). The Tars were outrebounded 43-39, but caused 20 turnovers while committing 15. The Tars started the game up 2-0 after the Royals were hit with a technical for dunking in pregame warm-ups. The first 15 minutes was back and forth with no team leading by more than five. A Diakite steal and fast break dunk with 7:11 to play in the half put the Tars up and got the big home crowd on their feet. (November 19, 2012) - Rollins rebounded from its seasonopening loss in a big way, beating Puerto Rico Bayamon Monday night. All five of Rollins (1-1) starters scored in double figures. Mitch Woods pumped in a career-high 18 points, shooting 7-of-9 from the field and hitting all four of his 3-point attempts. Kyle McClanahan and Brett Chance each netted 11 with McClanahan adding six assists and three steals. Jeff Dirkin tallied 10 points and seven rebounds while Dave Diakite added to his highlight reel with numerous thunderous dunks and put up 10 points. Victor Caratini led Bayamon (1-3) with 15 points while Jeshua Ayala added 12 points and six rebounds. After suffering through a rough shooting night Friday, Rollins found its rhythm Monday and hit 50 percent (26-52) from the field, including 10-of 18 from 3-point range. They held UPRB to 45 percent (20-44) from the field and won on the boards The Tars raced out to a quick 4-0 lead, punctuated by a McClanahan to Diakite alley-oop that brought the large crowd to its feet. The Cowboys came back to tie the score, but Rollins would go on to lead midway through the half. Woods hit a triple at the 5:46 mark to put the Tars up and spark a 12-5 run to close the half. Dirkin knocked down a three from the top of the key with 30 seconds left to give Rollins a lead going into the locker room. Dave Diakite led the way for Rollins (2-1) with 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. (November 28, 2012) - Rollins picked up its third straight victory, and first away from home, thumping Palm Beach Atlantic Wednesday night. Adam Allen was one off his career high, netting 18 points to lead the Tars (3-1). The UF transfer hit 7-of-9 from the field, including four 3-pointers, while also hauling in seven rebounds. Jonny Reibel was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year and honorable mention All-America The Tars won 15 of their first 16 games, including victories over nationally ranked Central Missouri and Drury in Las Vegas, but faltered down the stretch to finish Tom Klusman recorded his 500th career victory as the Tars head coach with an home victory over Eckerd. Later, it was the Tritons who knocked Rollins out of NCAA Tournament contention with a half court buzzer beater in the regular season finale. Jonny Reibel was named First Team All-America, a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award and invited to the College Basketball Invitational All-Star Game Despite a 20-win season and advancing to the championship game of the SSC Tournament and falling in overtime, Rollins was left out of the NCAA Tournament field for the second straight season. The Tars finished 20-9 and were runners-up in the SSC regular season. Sophomore Nick Wolf was named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year. Seniors Kevin Hogan and Craig Reichel joined the Tars 1000-poin club Picked to finish second in the SSC, Rollins put together a magical season, winning the SSC regular season and tournament titles and advancing to the championship game of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament. The Tars tied the school record with 27 victories. Highlights included a last-second, home win over then second ranked Florida Southern and two thrilling wins in the NCAA Tournament, one in overtime and the other on a buzzer-beater. Nick Wolf was named first team All- SSC, All-South Region and All-America as well as the South Region Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Myk Brown was named the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player Rollins was picked to repeat as SSC champs and did so definitively, winning the outright title by a full game over the runners-up. They then added a second straight conference tournament title and earned a bid into the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in the past seven years, earned a bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament. In postseason, the Tars fell victim to a buzzer-beater to Florida Southern in the first round. Nick Wolf put a cap on arguably the most successful career in Tars history by earning All-America honors for the third time. He was also named SSC Player of the Year, SSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player and the Rollins Athlete of the Year. He finished second on the Tars all-time scoring and rebounding lists. The first lost came to eventual national champion Western Washington and Rollins finished the year overall and 9-7 in SSC play. 19 Tom Klusman Head Coach 33rd Year Rollins College 76 A collegiate coaching legend and the face of Rollins College basketball for more than three decades, Tom Klusman enters his 33rd year leading the Tars in the season. His teams have become synonymous with winning, class and high graduation rates. Klusman has grown a career record of heading into the season. He ranks 42nd among winningest active Division II coaches, holds the fifth most total victories and ranks 16th all-time in wins. Rollins is currently on a run of unprecedented success that continues to fill the trophy case. Since the turn of the millennium, Klusman has led Rollins to six Sunshine State Conference regular season championships, three SSC Tournament titles and six NCAA Division II postseason bids, advancing to the Elite Eight in In his tenure at Rollins, Klusman has enjoyed 25 winning seasons, 12 seasons with 20 or more victories, eight SSC titles, four conference tournament titles and has reached eight NCAA II tournaments. Klusman has accumulated a mountain of accolades during his time at Rollins including: the 1991 and 2003 NABC South Region Coach of the Year awards and the 1984, 1991, 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2011 SSC Coach of the Year awards. He was inducted into the Rollins Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992 and into the Sunshine State Conference Hall of Fame in In 2006, Klusman was named Rollins Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations and assists the department with the Tar Booster Club and development efforts. Over the past decade, Rollins has put together a run of unprecedented success, posting a record of (.726 winning pct.) and winning six SSC titles. Last season, Rollins posted a record of overall and were fourth in the SSC at 9-7. Senior Chris Malcolm was named the SSC Defensive Player of the Year and left Rollins as the most prolific shot blocker in program history. He also mentored possibly the best player to ever wear the Blue and Gold in guard Nick Wolf. Under Klusman s tutelage, the Cincinnati native was named All-America three times, twice the SSC Player of the Year and left Rollins as the only player to record 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Klusman enjoyed one of his most successful seasons with the Tars in He led the Tars to a school record-tying 27 victories, both SSC regular season and tournament titles and a trip to the championship game of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament. Prior to the Tars, Klusman s team was the standard for Rollins success. That unforgettable team set school records in wins with a 27-6 record, and winning percentage, at.818. That team won the Sunshine State Conference for the second straight season, earned the sixth NCAA Division II playoff berth in Rollins history and advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in school history. These accomplishments earned Klusman SSC Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season and for the fourth time in his career. Klusman began his illustrious career at Rollins as a standout guard from 1972 to He averaged 10.5 points per game and handed out 352 assists in his career. He was a key player on the first two Tar squads that made the NCAA tournament in 1974 and He is a member of the Rollins 1,000 point club with 1,006 career points. After his playing career, Klusman began coaching in 1978, assisting Bobby Marr at Winter Park High School, followed by three seasons at Rollins as an assistant under Mark Freidinger. He was named head coach in 1980 at the age of 26, the youngest in school history. KLUSMAN YEAR-BY-YEAR Year Record Seasons In his first five years, he led Rollins to a combined record of while instilling the program with his brand of basketball. In , Klusman and the Tars posted a record of 21-8, the first 20-win season in school history. Also in that year, he became Rollins winningest coach, surpassing Boyd Coffie s 94 wins. In 1990, Klusman again led the team to new heights, posting a record of 20-8 and winning the program s first Sunshine State Conference title. The following year, the Tars again won the SSC, picked up the programs first conference tournament crown and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Klusman has coached six All-Americans, seven All-South selections, four conference Players of the Year, three SSC Freshmen of the Year, one SSC Defensive Player of the Year and 42 All-Sunshine State Conference players. Under Klusman, Rollins has been known for great shooting and tough defense. Klusman s teams are constantly among the conference and national leaders in one of three shooting categories. Rollins led the nation in three-point percentage during the season, when they made 278-of-585 of their shots from behind the arc for a blistering 47.5 percent. During the campaign, Rollins became the first team in the 20-year history of the Sunshine State Conference to lead the league in all three shooting categories. In the season, the Blue and Gold ranked fifth in the nation in scoring defense, allowing only 59.8 points per contest. One of Klusman s all-time greatest marksmen, Daniel Parke, holds a record that stands on every level of the NCAA basketball. In Parke s four years at Rollins from 93-97, he hit at least one three-point field goal in 93 consecutive games. Klusman attended Finneytown High School in Cincinnati. Klusman received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration in 1976 and his MBA in 1978, both from Rollins. He is married to the former Jennifer Murray of Winter Park. They have a daughter, Maggie, and twin sons, Brian and Perry. Maggie is a junior at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., Brian is a freshman at Birmingham Southern and Perry is a freshman at Rollins.
