(November 14, 2014) Rollins needed a big stop and clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to hold off Clark Atlanta Friday night in the opening game of the season. Four players scored in double figures, led by 16 points and eight rebounds from Chris Uhle. The senior was 5-of-8 from the field including four 3-pointers, and hit both free throws. He also tallied two blocks and moved to within six of the Tars career record. Sharif Almulla turned in his best offensive game as a Tar, putting up 16 points while only missing one shot from the field. Alex Blessig and Scott Schuette each netted 12 with freshman Jeff Merton tallying eight points and six rebounds. Aside from one possession with the score tied at 19, Rollins (1-0) led the entire first half. The Panthers closed to within two in the final seconds before a James Ferrell free throw at the end of the half put the Tars in the locker room up In the second, Rollins pushed the lead to a game-high nine on a Blessig triple three minutes in into the half. The Tars led by nine twice more before a 10-2 CAU run closed the gap to with 12 minutes to play. Uhle answered with a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession, but Clark came back to take its first lead of the day after five-straight points from Derek Harper made the count in favor of the hosts. Rollins posted another run to get the momentum back and lead before Harper again got hot and put the Panthers ahead Uhle had another answer with a triple on the next possession, but CAU tied the score at 72 with two minutes to play. With under a minute to play and the game still tied, Schuette drilled a contested 3-pointer up against the shot clock that gave the Tars a lead. Damion Enoch found a twisting layup to close the gap to one and Rollins turned it over on the next possession. Clark was letting the clock wind down for a last shot when Schuette jumped a passing lane and came up with a huge steal. His two free throws gave Rollins a three-point lead with 10 ticks left. CAU closed to within two in the final seconds and were put at the line, but both free throws were missed. Uhle gathered the rebound and then connected two free throws to seal the game. (November 18, 2014) Rollins played host to Warner for its home opener Tuesday and came up on the short end of a final score. The loss to the Royals is a third-straight for the Tars. Chris Uhle totaled four blocks and became Rollins all-time leader in the category. The senior needed just two coming into the night to surpass Chris Malcolm and now has 120 in his career. Alex Blessig led Rollins (2-1) with 19 points while Scott Schuette netted 11 and handed out four assists. Along with his four blocks, Uhle added nine points and six rebounds. Warner (6-1) had half of its output from the bench, led by Antonio Ansley with 16 points. He shot 6-of-7 from the field and hit all four 3-point attempts. Jason Pospichal added 15 points on five 3-pointers as the Royals shot 13-of-25 from long range on the night. Uhle scored the Tars first seven points to give Rollins a 7-3 early lead but a quick 6-0 Royals run put Rollins down 9-7 four minutes in. Blessig later gave Rollins a lead with a reverse layup at the 11:48 mark before three-straight 3-pointers from Pospichal put Warner up with 8:42 left in the half. The Tars cut the lead to one but couldn t get over the hump and trailed at the half. The Tars outscored the Royals 12-2 over the first seven minutes of the second and led after a Blessig 3-pointer. Warner tied the score at 40, but another Blessig triple kept Rollins in front until back-to-back 3-pointers by Ansley put Rollins down with 10 minutes to play. Mike Bedulskis brought the score back to even with a conventional 3-point play but Ansley again hit from deep on the ensuing possession to put Warner on top for good. Sharif Almulla scored a put back with 1:45 to play and draw Rollins to within Warren Ball later added two free throws and the Tars came up empty on both a 3-point attempt and, after a steal, the front end of a 1-and-1. Keevis Tukes put it away for Warner with a deep 3-pointer up against the shot clock, giving the Royals a advantage with 23 seconds to play. Rollins shot 43 percent (24-56) from the field, hitting just 8-of-24 three-point attempts. The Tars were 4-of-7 at the free throw line. Warner hit 24-of-45 from the field and 5-of-6 at the free throw line while also outrebounding its host Last FG - RCM 2nd-00:12, LC-M 2nd-01:55. CHARLOTTE, N.C. - (November 21, 2014) Rollins nearly erased a 15-point second half deficit, but the comeback ran out of time as the Tars fell to Livingstone College in the opening game of the Johnson C. Smith Tip off Classic in Charlotte. The loss is the second-straight for the Tars (2-2) after opening the year with two convincing wins over Clark Atlanta and Paine. Alex Blessig led the Tars with an efficient 14 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the field (2-4 three pointers) and hitting both free throw attempts. He also added four assists and four steals. Freshman Jeff Merton pumped in a career-high 15 points and handed out five assists while Mike Bedulskis added 10 points and five assists off the bench. Hakeem Jackson led the Blue Bears (1-0) and all scorers with 27 points, shooting 10-of-18 from the field and 7-of-8 at the free throw line. Eric Dubose netted 24 points while Eric Mayo chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds. Livingstone beat the Tars on the glass 39-26, including a 14-7 edge on the offensive end, and shot 57 percent (31-54) from the field to Rollins 50 percent (29-58). Rollins led 10-5 early, but quickly fell into a hole after seven minutes of action. Sam Phillpott cut into the lead with a pair of 3-pointers sandwiched around a Sharif Almulla jumper, making the count Kyle Koszuta later hit from 3-point rage and closed the gap to before the Bears rolled off a 12-0 run and led with 6:19 left in the half. The Tars got to within nine before ultimately heading into the locker room down Rollins trailed midway through the second before Blessig got hot from the outside, scoring seven of the Tars next nine points and drawing Rollins to within with 9:59 to play. After a timeout, Livingstone tried to pull away again, but another Kozuta 3-pointer and Bedulskis jumper again cut the lead to three. The Tars defense forced tough shots in crunch time, but the Bears responded and pulled away with 1:43 left. A Blessig layup, Jeff Dirkin dunk and Almulla free throw cut that lead in half, but that would be as close as the Tars would get the rest of the night.
