1 SIDELINE PARENT Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game time You may want to bring an umbrella and/or towel in inclement weather Per the MHSAA rules, the home team must provide a parent to support the referees, sitting between the home and away teams Primary job is tracking goals and cards, as well as making sure the referees know there are substitutions to be made (Athletic Director is supposed to supply an air horn). Please ask referees before game what support, if any, they need Even if they do not need support, you must sit between the teams in the officials area In the event that the announcer cannot see the substitutions, the Athletic Director should supply walkie-talkies From the MHSAA Rules Supplement

2 ANNOUNCER (1/2) For reference, timekeeping and scorekeeping are done by a Seaholm (paid) employee Please arrive ~30 minutes before game time Make sure you have rosters for the Seaholm Team and the away team (you may have to get the away rosters from the Away Coach. Run through the names with the coach or a player in an attempt to pronounce them correctly on the PA system) Review the Home Team Roster with the Seaholm Coach to catch any additions or deletions Typically, there should be a binder in the Press Box/Booth with the script and some Seaholm Rosters to be safe, consider printing ahead of time from the website Please make sure you have a copy of the National Anthem banner on your phone in case there is no CD or similar in the Box. There is typically an Aux Cord in the booth to link your phone to the sound system. Keep in mind for a newer iphone, you many need a dongle In case no cord, simply hold the microphone up to the phone and adjust volume accordingly You are welcome to play appropriate warm-up music at a reasonable volume level See Next Page for Timing and Script

3 ANNOUNCER (2/2) ADJUST ON THE FLY ACCORDINGLY worse case scenario, the referees and coaches want to start and no announcements are made BEFORE GAME Approximately 10 minutes before game time, announce that rosters will be announced in 3 minutes. Generally need ~7 minutes to complete below Welcome Good morning/afternoon/evening, and welcome to Seaholm s Maple Stadium for today s game with our visitors from. These games depend on an educational atmosphere. Everyone can do their part by respecting the game, each other, and the officials. Nothing beats good sportsmanship. Team Introduction (when teams are ready may have to be nudged ) Away team first, plus coach(es) Home team second, plus coach (es) National Anthem Introduction Ladies and gentlemen, at this time we ask that you stand. Civilian gentlemen, please remove your hats. Active and retired military, we encourage you to render the appropriate salute, and everyone stand at attention, placing your hand over your heart, as we proudly play our National Anthem. DURING GAME Announce corner kicks, throw-ins, etc. no color commentary Announce substitutions keep an eye on the sideline parent area, you should be able see players coming in try and note the numbers and announce them IN when substituting Announce One Minute Left to Play at the end of each half Countdown the last 10 seconds of each half AFTER GAME turn off equipment and leave press box organized, please

4 ANNOUNCER (extra) Announce that Concessions is OPEN at the South End of the Stadium at least once before the game and during each half

5 VIDEOGRAPHER Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game time The purpose of the video is to allow the coaches and players to review film individually or together to improve the level of play Additionally, some players will use the film for highlight reels if they are interested in playing college soccer No tricks, just do your best to track the ball in a relatively wide view it can challenging, do your best to focus on the job It is easy to start watching the game and not follow ball be cognizant of this try to stay on the ball Typically, a good viewing range is between ½ and ½ of the field tighter is hard to track and wider is hard to really see the play on video Hand-off to next team s rep or the coach (make sure all equipment stays together, is organized, and is packed up safely) GOOD LUCK!!!
