1 NCAA WOMEN S BASKETBALL 1/6/15 NCAA RULES BOOK, CASE BOOK and CCA MANUAL CORRECTIONS Prepared by Jon Levinson, Women s Secretary- Rules Editor NCAA Women's Basketball Rule Book Corrections Page Rule Correction Art. 2. There is no minimum distance required between the guard and opponent, but the maximum distance to be considered closely guarded is 6 feet. This distance shall be measured from the forward foot or feet of the defender to the forward foot or feet of the opponent. These distances shall apply only when a player in the front court is holding the ball or dribbling Art. 1. A player in control of the ball in the front court only while holding or dribbling the ball is closely guarded when her opponent is in a guarding stance at a distance not exceeding 6 feet. This distance shall be measured from the forward foot or feet of the defender to the forward foot or feet of the opponent a Art. 1.a: One point for basket interference or one point or and a player/substitute technical foul for goaltending when, during a free throw, the ball is on its upward/downward flight Penalty PENALTY (Arts. 1 through 12-, excluding 1.c) Two free throws awarded to the offended team for a single player/substitute technical foul and play is resumed at the point of interruption. For double player/substitute technical fouls that do not include c, no free throws are awarded and play is resumed at the point of interruption. When it is for an illegal substitution, the scorer may signal 18 A.R. 53 RULING 1 and 2: The required substitute shall be permitted to enter the game before the first try of the multiple free throws. In addition, all substitutes who had legally reported to the official scorer before the required substitution player who had to be replaced, may enter the game. 74 A.R. 240 RULING: (1) When the official determines that the foul occurred before the sounding of the game- clock horn, and signals for the clock to stop and the timer fails to stop the clock, a timing mistake has occurred and the official shall put time back on the clock as to when the foul was called. In this case, A1 is awarded two free throws. When A1 makes the first shot, the game is over. 83 A.R. 269 RULING: A1 shall be charged with a flagrant 2 technical foul, ejected and subject to the fighting penalty and suspension. B6 shall be charged with a bench technical foul flagrant 2 technical foul and ejected for leaving the confines of the bench area and entering the playing court. The head coach from Team B shall be charged an indirect technical foul for his/her player leaving the bench. When bench personnel, other than the head coach, are assessed a technical foul, the bench technical foul is indirectly charged to the head coach. B6 is ejected but not subject to suspension. Two free throws shall be awarded to Team A for the bench technical by B6. These free throws shall be followed by two free throws awarded to Team B for the flagrant 2 technical foul assessed to A1 and play shall be resumed with a throw- in to Team B at the point of interruption. Two free throws shall be awarded to Team B for the flagrant 2 technical foul assessed to A1. These free throws shall be followed by two free throws awarded to Team A for the flagrant 2 technical assessed to Team B due to B6 leaving the bench and play shall be resumed with a throw- in to Team A at the point of interruption. The acts committed by A1 and B6 are not offsetting; they are two separate acts.
4 (Rule and.9 and Penalty, 8-3.3, 8-8.1, and Appendix I) 83 A.R. 271 RULING: Player A1 is assessed a flagrant 2 technical foul and ejected. Any player from Team B may shoot two free throws with no players in marked lane spaces. Following the free throws, Team B is awarded the ball at the point of interruption. The intent is that neither players nor bench personnel leave the playing court or bench area and enter the stands in an unsporting situation. When a player or bench personnel engages in unsporting behavior toward a spectator, the penalty is a Flagrant 2 technical foul and that player is to be ejected. When physical contact is involved, the official shall determine whether a fight occurred according to the definition of a fight in Rule (Rule , and ) Page Reference Correction CCA Manual Corrections Prepared by June Courteau, National Coordinator B B. The resumption- of- play procedure must be used at all times except to start the second half or any extra period. Officials are to use the mechanics outlined on page to resume play See pages and for new signals C.3 Two or Three. There should be no double whisltes whistles A.2 In a game with replay equipment, review the "Record- the- Game- Time" signal for the scorer to record the time for reviewing a two- or three- point goal.
