3 NCAA Rule Differences- General Ring testing Ball size 29.5 and oz. Official s jurisdiction begins 20 min. before game. Shot clock- 35 seconds No ring testing Ball size 28.5 and oz. Official s jurisdiction begins 15 min. before game. Shot clock- 30 seconds

4 NCAA Rule Differences- Uniforms Do not permit undershirt sleeves to extend below the elbow Undershirt sleeves can extend below the elbow for compression shirts only Don t permit commemorative logos on socks Permit commemorative logos on socks

5 NCAA Rule Differences- Substitutes Player with a displaced contact lens or eye glasses- a reasonable amount of time used- no timeout charged Player with a lost/displaced/irritated contact lens- allow 20 seconds to remedy situation before player is instructed to leave the game- no timeout charged

6 NCAA Rule Differences- Substitutes Opposing coach chooses free throw shooter from remaining four players on the court when an injured player is unable to shoot his free throws Coach chooses own free throw shooter when injured player is unable to attempt free throws

7 NCAA Rule Differences- Timeouts No similar rule Team called timeout 30 seconds BEFORE a media timeout minute mark and until that media timeout occurs will replace that particular media timeout (exception- first called timeout of 2 nd period)

8 NCAA Rule Differences- Violation Opponents of thrower-in repeatedly having any part of their person beyond the vertical inside edge of the boundary plane before that ball has crossed that boundary = violation; repeated violations= technical foul Opponents of thrower-in having any part of their person beyond the vertical inside edge of the boundary plane before that ball has crossed that boundary = team warning followed by a player/substitute technical foul

10 NCAA Rule Differences- Fouls No Lower Defensive box -Restricted Area in effect at all times Lower Defensive Box -two tick marks required on baseline -Restricted Area in effect when player with the ball starts her move from outside the LDB -Restricted Area is not in effect when player with the ball starts her move from within the LDB

14 NCAA Rule Differences- Technical fouls Team foul totals include personal and CLASS A technical fouls only Technical fouls: CLASS A- unsportsmanlike conduct by a player, substitute, coach or bench personnel CLASS B- infraction of rules that neither involves contact with an opponent nor causes contact with an opponent and falls below the limit of an unsportsmanlike act Team foul totals include personal and all technical fouls except Administrative Technical fouls: Bench- unsporting conduct of bench personnel Player/Substitute- involving conduct of a player or substitute Direct/indirect- technicals assessed to a coach for his/her own behaviors or that of his/her bench personnel

15 NCAA Rule Differences- Monitor Cannot review solely for a flagrant 1 personal but can come away from another review with a flagrant 1 personal Can review solely for a flagrant 1 personal
