As third-seeded and 19th-ranked Duke women s soccer (13-5-5) makes its third appearance in the NCAA College Cup, the Blue Devils will face a familiar foe in top-seeded and No. 2 ranked Florida State (18-2-4) Friday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. The match will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park and will be aired live on ESPNU. Calling the contest for ESPNU will be Glenn Davis (PXP) and Julie Foudy (Color). The other semifi nal match will feature second-seeded Rutgers (19-3-3) against No. 1 seed Penn State (20-3-2), which will kick off at 5 p.m. The two winners will advance to the title match Sunday, Dec. 6 at 12 p.m. NCAA College Cup... Duke is competing in the NCAA College Cup for the third time in school history , 2011 and The Blue Devils have totaled a 2-0 mark in NCAA semifi nal matches, defeating Hartford (1-0) in 1992 and Wake Forest in 2011 (4-1). Over the last four appearances in the NCAA Tournament, Duke has outscored its opponents, How We Got Here... Duke has had one of the toughest roads to the NCAA College Cup. After the Blue Devils knocked off James Madison, 5-0, at home, Duke hit the road for Gainesville, Fla., to face FGCU in their backyard. FGCU featured a great crowd that drove over from school, but the Blue Devils took down the Eagles, 2-0. Duke had the tall task of taking on second-seeded Florida on its home pitch, but was able to sneak away with a 2-1 victory in front of a great crowd. The most recent match came all the way across the country to take on No. 1 seed Stanford, who does not lose many home matches. The Blue Devils held on, facing many Cardinal shots, and advanced through penalty kicks, 3-2. A Look at Florida State... Defending NCAA Champion Florida State enters the NCAA College Cup for the fi fth straight year and has totaled an overall record on the season. The Seminoles are riding a seven-match unbeaten streak heading into Friday s match. FSU has outscored its opponents 15-0 in the NCAA Tournament. Leading the Seminoles on the year has been Megan Connolly (9 goals, 10 assists), Cheyna Williams (10 goals, 7 assists), Elin Jensen (7 goals, 5 assists) and Berglind Thorvaldsdottir (8 goals, 2 assists). The Seminoles lead the series with an mark, including wins in four out of the last fi ve matches. The last victory for the Blue Devils came at home Sept. 18, 2011 as Duke downed FSU, 2-1. Local Flair at NCAA College Cup... Duke features fi ve players from North Carolina on the roster in 2015 with Christina Gibbons and Kat McDonald from Raleigh, Morgan Reid from Cary and EJ Proctor and Mary Love Taylor out of Wilson, N.C. All fi ve live within an hour and a half from WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. Gibbons and Reid attended Cardinal Gibbons High School, McDonald went to Wakefi eld and Proctor/Taylor graduated from Fike H.S. Gibbons lives less than fi ve miles from WakeMed Soccer Park and would ride her bike to practice when her team practiced there. Many of them have played on the fi elds next to the stadium for club/high school. Hey, I Know You... Duke freshman Chelsea Burns, who is from Jacksonville, Fla., played club soccer with Carson Pickett and Kirsten Crowley of Florida State when she was a freshman in high school. They also played together on a U18 squad that Carson Pickett s father, Mike Pickett, coached. Burns went on to play for Mike Pickett throughout high school. Burns played with Caroline Brockmeier in club for the Eclipse for 3-4 years and against her in high school, while also playing with Holly Fritz through ODP. The Duke rookie played against Fritz, Dallas Dorosey and Macayla Edwards in club soccer as well. Duke junior Christina Gibbons played with Carson Pickett and Michaela Hahn in Norway this past summer as part of the Four Nations Tournament with the U.S. U-23 National Team. The team went and won the title. What a Turnaround!... After not making the NCAA Tournament a year ago, the Blue Devils have made an incredible turnaround to advance to the NCAA College Cup. It actually marks the second time a Duke team has gone to the NCAA College Cup the year after not making the NCAA Tournament as the Blue Devils accomplished this in 1992 as well. Duke became the fi rst team since Portland in 2000 to reach the NCAA College Cup after not making it in the NCAA Tournament the year before. Other teams to accomplish this were Duke (1992), SMU (1995), George Mason (1993), Santa Clara (1989), Wisconsin (1988), UCF (1987) and Portland (2000). Young Squad... Duke has been featuring only one senior, four juniors, four sophomores and two freshmen in the starting lineup as of late. The Blue Devils own the youngest starting XI in the College Cup. Florida State and Rutgers feature fi ve senior starters, while Penn State owns two. The Blue Devils are the only team in the College Cup that has a freshman leading goal scorer (Taylor Racioppi and Kayla McCoy with 7). Duke Knocking Off Conference Champs... During Duke s 2015 run in the NCAA Tournament, the Blue Devils have knocked off the Colonial Athletic Association champions James Madison, Atlantic Sun champions FGCU, SEC champions Florida and Pac 12 champs Stanford. The Raben family has been enjoying an extended run in the NCAA Tournament for two kids -- Lizzy Raben (Duke) and Sam Raben (Wake Forest). The duo are the only brother/sister tandem left in the NCAA men s and women s soccer tournament. Sam Raben and the Demon Deacons are in the NCAA quarterfi nals and will face Stanford Dec. 5 in Winston-Salem, N.C. Streak Breaker... Over the last four matches in the NCAA Tournament, Duke has been a streakbreaker The Blue Devils snapped a six-match unbeaten streak James Madison had in the fi rst round. In the second round, FGCU held an 11-match streak and had not lost since

Technically Stanford s streak didn t break but the Blue Devils did advance past the Cardinal, who had a 14-match unbeaten streak. The last Stanford loss came Sept. 20. Freshman Leading Scorer... The last time Duke featured a freshman leading scorer was in 2011 when the Blue Devils advanced to the NCAA Championship game. Rookie Kelly Cobb paced Duke on the season with 11 goals and nine assists for 31 points. So far this season, freshmen Taylor Racioppi and Kayla McCoy lead the Blue Devils with seven goals each. Racioppi owns a team-high 20 points. Martinez Gets Start... With Imani Dorsey out with an injury, sophomore Casey Martinez got the start at forward against FGCU. The start was the second of her career and fi rst of the season. She led Duke with three shots, including two on goal and notched an assist on the game-winning tally. Martinez came through big again against Stanford with an assist as she made her second start of the season. Noting Duke... Blue Devil junior Christina Gibbons and sophomore EJ Proctor have played 1,340 straight minutes over the last 14 matches since the Florida State match in September. The Blue Devils have advanced in penalty kicks during NCAA action each of the last fi ve times and are 7-2 all-time. Duke is one of only two ACC teams left in the NCAA Tournament, after fi nishing eighth in the ACC regular season standings. The Blue Devils have scored 15 goals over the last fi ve matches. After not scoring for 14 straight matches, freshman Taylor Racioppi has netted goals in three out of the last fi ve matches. She owns nine points in those contests. Duke owns a record this season in night matches, while totaling a mark during day matches. The Blue Devils are when scoring fi rst on the year. Duke has outshot its opponents by a ledger on the year. The Blue Devils brought in the No. 2 recruiting class nationally in 2014 and the No. 6 class in Rebecca Quinn took the 2015 spring semester off from school to train with the Canada National Team. She ended up playing with the Canada Pan American Games team over the summer in her home country of Canada. Junior Krysia Sikora trained with the Poland National Team during the summer of She traveled to Hungary for the Balaton Cup as the team went 1-1 in competition. It was voted on by the team members. Overbeck Returns to College Cup... Duke assistant coach Carla Overbeck will return to the NCAA College Cup for the third time at Duke. An assistant coach under Bill Hempen in 1992, Overbeck helped lead Duke to a overall record and an appearance in the NCAA Championship match. She was also a part of the 2011 squad that reached the title match. Overbeck was a four-time NCAA Champion at North Carolina as her Tar Heel squads posted an record over her four years. Blue Devil Clean Sheets... Duke has now collected 13 shutouts on the season, which is the most since the 2011 campaign (16). It is also tied for the second most in school history. The Blue Devils notched three straight shutouts prior to allowing one goal at Florida and Stanford. Duke has allowed only four goals during the last 10 matches. In the ACC stats, the Blue Devils rank third in shutouts (13). EJ Proctor ranks fi rst in the league with 10 shutouts. Record Watch... Sophomore EJ Proctor owns 10 shutouts on the year to rank second on the Blue Devil single season charts. The season record is 13 from Freshmen Kayla McCoy and Taylor Racioppi own seven goals on the season, which ranks tied for 12th on Duke s single season freshman record charts. Racioppi owns six assists on the season to rank tied sixth in Duke s single A lot of excitement surrounds the Duke women s soccer program as head coach Robbie Church is in his 15th season with the Blue Devils. Church returned nine starters, 19 letterwinners and welcomed one of the top recruiting classes in the nation in Church has continued the success Duke has had over the last 13 years with 163 wins, 12 NCAA Tournament appearances and trips to the NCAA College Cup in 2011 and After dealing with the loss of a key senior class and many newcomers on the roster, the Blue Devils struggled in 2014 posting an overall record and missing the NCAA Tournament for the fi rst time since the 2002 campaign. Ashley is a 2008 graduate of UNC Wilmington and was a four-year letterwinner on the women s soccer team, Kyle is a 2010 graduate of Charlotte and was a four-year letterwinner on the men s basketball squad. Duke and Rutgers have faced off four times with the Blue Devils leading the series, 3-1. The last meeting came on Nov. 13, 2009 when the Scarlet Knights knocked Duke out of the NCAA Tournament, 2-0. Allen Collects First Goal of 2015 in NCAAs... After missing last season due to injury, redshirt sophomore Malinda Allen came through big time against FGCU with her fi rst goal of the 2015 campaign. She fi nished off a free kick from Casey Martinez in the second half, which marked her second collegiate goal. Allen has played in 22 matches this season and has one start in the midfi eld. Duke had been without the services of redshirt sophomore Cassie Pecht for the last fi ve matches with an ankle injury, prior to returning against FGCU off the bench. She has played limited minutes in the last three matches as she still recovers from the injury. Sophomore Imani Dorsey missed the FGCU contest, but returned against Florida to start and play 36 minutes. Dorsey had scored goals in four out of the last fi ve matches prior to the injury against JMU. NCAA RPI... Heading into the NCAA Tournament, Duke ranked No. 13 in the NCAA RPI. Duke tied No. 1 Florida State and No. 3 Penn State, while posting an exhibition victory over No. 9 Clemson in the preseason and a 1-0 win against No. 15 North Carolina. A total of seven ACC teams were in the top Florida State (1), Virginia (3), Clemson (9), Notre Dame (10), Virginia Tech (12), Duke (13) and North Carolina (15). All-ACC Honors... The All-ACC women s soccer teams were released recently with fi ve different Blue Devils earning accolades, following a vote of the 14 league head coaches. Junior Christina Gibbons was selected to the fi rst team, while junior Rebecca Quinn and sophomore Ashton Miller earned third team accolades. Both Taylor Racioppi and Kayla McCoy were voted to the All-ACC Freshman team. Much Different Numbers... To show how much better Duke s defense has been this season, look no further than the last two years. In 2014 the Blue Devils allowed 23 goals and in 2013 allowed 35 tallies. Duke has given up only 15 goals in 23 matches. The Blue Devil school record for fewest goals allowed in a season is 13, which happened in 2011 and Balanced Scoring... The Blue Devils feature 13 different players that have scored at least one goal this season. DeBree Lost for the Season... A week after being named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week, Duke sophomore defender Schuyler DeBree tore her ACL at Boston College and will miss the rest of the 2015 campaign. DeBree had started 8-of-11 matches and played 728 minutes on the season for the Blue Devil defense. Defensive Rotation... Duke features six different defenders that have started in the back for the Blue Devils on the year so far -- Christina Gibbons (23 starts), Morgan Reid (22 starts), Lizzy Raben (16 starts), Schuyler DeBree (8 starts), Rebecca Quinn (18 starts)

Blue Devil freshmen Taylor Racioppi and Kayla McCoy kicked off their collegiate careers in impressive fashion, scoring three goals each in the UNC Nike Classic. Racioppi, who totaled two goals in the season opening match against Fresno State, joined only Ashley Rape and Casey McCluskey as freshmen to score two goals in their fi rst collegiate start. With her three goals in the fi rst two matches, Racioppi is one of only six Blue Devils to score goals in her fi rst two collegiate starts (Kelly Cobb, Casey McCluskey, Andi Melde, Caitlin Connolly and Dena Paris). No. 6 Recruiting Class Arrives... The Blue Devils welcomes the No. 6 overall recruiting class in the nation in Chelsea Burns of Jacksonville, Fla., Kayla McCoy of Lincolnwood, Ill., Kat McDonald of Raleigh, N.C., Anna Munro of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Taylor Racioppi of Ocean Township, N.J., and Mary Love Taylor of Wilson, N.C. Racioppi was tabbed the No. 2 overall player in the class of 2015, while McCoy was the No. 3 player. Racioppi Earns Preseason Honors... TopDrawerSoccer.com released its preseason Best XI teams with Duke freshman Taylor Racioppi earning All-Freshman Team honors. Racioppi, who hails from Ocean Township, N.J., arrived in Durham after a decorated high school and club career. A member of the U-20 Women s National Team for the 2014 World Cup in Canada, Racioppi has been a mainstay with U.S. national teams since The 5-5 rookie was ranked as the No. 2 overall player in the class of 2015 by TopDrawerSoccer.com and was a 2013, 2014 and 2015 All-America selection. Racioppi tallied 50 goals, 16 assists and 116 points in three years of high school soccer at Academy of Allied Health and Science. As a senior, she notched 20 goals and 45 points. Pecht, Allen, Pyne Return After Missing Time... After missing the last two years with an injured knee, redshirt sophomore Cassie Pecht made her return to the pitch during the exhibition contest against Clemson. Pecht, who was the National Freshman of the Year in 2012, missed the 2013 and 2014 seasons with knee issues. She totaled 15 assists and six goals as a rookie for the Blue Devils. Also dealing with knee issues, Abby Pyne returned to the fi eld after missing nearly two and a half years with her appearance versus Clemson. Pyne fi rst injured her knee as a junior in high school and missed her senior year of high school and freshman year at Duke coming back from the injury. She played almost 20 minutes against the Lady Tigers in goal. Malinda Allen was absent from the 2014 season because of a knee injury and also made an appearance in the midfi eld against Clemson. Allen also dealt with a foot injury in the offseason that she was coming back from. Duke in the Statistical Rankings Dorsey, DeBree Help Lead Washington Spirit Reserves to Title... Duke sophomores Imani Dorsey and Schuyler DeBree helped lead the Washington Spirit Reserves to their fi rst W-League Championship in July, which was played in Laval, Quebec.
