It is the first matchup between the two at Clemson since Duke will look for its first win agaisnt Clemson since a 3-0 victory in Durham in The Blue Devils are coming off back-to-back ACC wins last week, defeating Wake Forest, 3-2, and Virginia Tech, 2-0, at Koskinen Stadium. Duke is on the road in ACC action so far this season, taking down Miami and Syracuse while drawing No. 21 NC State. The Blue Devils have won nine of their last 11 games. During that stretch, they have outscored their opponents, 24-7, and has racked up six shutouts. Kayla McCoy tallied the first two goals on Thursday against Wake before the Demon Deacons tied it up. A Kat McDonald header of an Ella Stevens free kick in the final minute pushed Duke to a 3-2 victory. Sunday saw McCoy pick up her third goal of the weekend to give Duke a 1-0 advantage in the second half. Virginia Tech, 2-0 SCOUTING THE TIGERS... Clemson enters Saturday s match after reeling off back-to-back wins on the road, defeating No. 10 Florida State and Pittsburgh last week. The Tigers are led by Miranda Weslake and Mariana Speckmaier, who both have 13 points, six goals and an assist. Sandy MacIver has played 10 matches in goal for Clemson, allowing just six scores (0.59 GAA) and making 25 saves. BLUE DEVILS TAKE ON CLEMSON FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2016 Saturday s matchup will be the first between the Blue Devils and the Tigers since the 2016 season and the first in Clemson since Clemson, who holds a advantage in the series, has won the last two meetings, both by the score of 1-0. Duke s last win against the Tigers came in 2012, a 3-0 victory in Durham. The Blue Devils last won at Clemson in 2011, a 2-0 triumph. BLUE DEVILS HEATING UP AS THEY HIT THE HOMESTRETCH After reeling off a perfect weekend at home, the Blue Devils improved to on the year and in their last 10 contests. The two conference victories give Duke 13 points in the ACC standings, two behind Boston College for second. HOME SWEET HOME Koskinen Stadium has long been known as one of the toughest places to play in collegiate soccer and collegiate lacrosse. That has remained true lately for the Duke women s soccer program, as the Blue Devils hold a record in their last 27 home matches. That includes a perfect home record last season, a school record, along with an showing this season so far. MCCOY KEEPS THE GOOD TIMES ROLLING There was no doubt that senior Kayla McCoy would be the Blue Devils offensive catalyst in 2018 and she hasn t disappointed, especially as Duke hits the midway point of conference play. McCoy leads the team with 21 points (T3rd in ACC) and eight goals (T2nd in ACC) while her five assists are tied for second on the squad. The Lincolnwood, Ill., native has tallied one four-point and two three-point contests this season and has at least one in all but four matches in She has tallied a goal in four-straight contests, two shy of tying the program record, and at least one point in nine of the last 10 matches. McCoy s play has ramped up in conference action, as she has tallied six goals and an assist in six ACC contests. In ACC-only games, she leads the conference in points (13), points per game (2.17), goals (6), goals per game (1.00), shots (22) and shots per game (3.67). CLEMSON OCTOBER 13 TEAM BLUE DEVILS ONE OF THE NATION S TOP ASSISTS TEAMS With 29 assists so far this year, the Blue Devils have become one of the nation s best when it comes to dropping dimes. Their 29 rank fourth in the ACC and 19th in the country. Leading the way is Ella Stevens, who has eight assists this season. Those eight are tied for second in the conference and eighth in the NCAA. MCCOY CONTINUES HER RECORD BOOK CLIMB Senior Kayla McCoy has cracked a number of top 10 charts so far this season, including entering the top five in a number of records. With her three goals last week, she currently has 34 for her career, tying her with KayAnne Gummersall ( ) for fifth all-time. Kelly Walbert ( ) owns the program record with 47-career scores. McCoy s three game-winning goals this season has her career total now up to 13, putting her along at fourth on the DWS all-time list. She s one shy of Elisabeth Redmond ( ) for third place and seven behind the record holder Kelly Walbert ( ), who has 20. The Duke senior forward also stands tied for fifth with five career multigoal performances and sixth with 82 career points. STEVENS AMONG THE DWS ASSISTS ELITE... With her team-high eight dimes so far, Ella Stevens has cracked the top five on Duke s all-time assists list. She now has 25 for her career, which ties her for fourth in DWS history with Kelly Walbert ( ). She is four from tying Mollie Pathman ( ) for third. Andi Melde ( ) holds the all-time record at Duke with 42. DORSEY NAMED NWSL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR After turning in a spectacular career in the Duke blue and white, Imani Dorsey has already made waves in the National Women s Soccer League. The Elkridge, Md., native recently closed out her first season in the pros by earning the NWSL s Rookie of the Year award, as voted on by media, fans, players and the clubs. Dorsey, who capped her Blue Devil career last year by earning United Soccer Coaches First Team All-America and ACC Offensive Player of the Year laurels, scored four goals and added one assist in 13 appearances with Sky Blue FC. In 1,047 minutes, Dorsey created 11 chances with 16 shots on target, while posting a 74.4 percent passing accuracy (332 passes). The Elkridge, Md., native, who is the first Blue Devil in history to receive an NWSL yearly honor, reeled in 38.4 percent of the vote, including receiving the highest amount of votes from the clubs and players. BLUE DEVILS CONTINUE UNBEATEN STREAK AGAINST STATE Thursday night s victory in Raleigh extended the Blue Devils dominance against NC State, keeping Duke undefeated versus the Wolfpack in the Robbie Church era. With the tie, the Blue Devils are unbeaten against the Wolfpack in their last 18 meetings, with NCSU s last win in the series coming on Oct. 17, It is the first tie in the series since the two teams played to a 1-1 draw on Nov. 1, 1998 in Durham. BLUE DEVILS MAKE STATEMENT WIN TO OPEN ACC PLAY It was domination from start to finish for the Blue Devils at Syracuse, as they opened their 2018 ACC slate with a 4-0 win. Duke s victory was the largest in ACC play since defeating the Orange, 4-0, on Oct. 2, 2016 in Durham. It was also the first time Duke has had four different goal scorers in a game since its 4-0 win against Baylor last season to advance to the NCAA College Cup. The four goals also stand as the largest single-game output for a team through the first weekend of conference action. Duke set numerous season highs in the win as well, with 13 points, four scores, five assists, 24 shots, 12 shots on goal and 12 corner kicks. MCCOY TABBED CANDIDATE FOR 2018 SENIOR CLASS AWARD Duke senior Kayla McCoy was named one of 30 candidates for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award on Wednesday, which is awarded to the student-athlete who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition. The list of candidates will be narrowed down to 10 midway through the regular season. Voting from media, coaches and fans will determine the overall winner. PASCHALL DELIVERS A PAIR OF CORNER SCORES Sophomore Karlie Paschall was lethal on delivering corners in Duke s win at Syracuse, as her two assists came on services from the corner in the second half. Paschall helped the Blue Devils acquire their first corner off a goal since last year against Boston College (Oct. 29, 2017), when Ella Stevens service found Chelsea Burns for a score. GAME 5

6 NABET TALLIES FIRST-CAREER GOAL AT SYRACUSE One of the biggest highlight s of Duke s four-goal Sunday at Syracuse was the score from sophomore Lily Nabet that made it 3-0. That was the first goal of Nabet s career, as she tapped in a corner kick from Karlie Paschall. Nabet is the third Blue Devil to record their first-career goal in 2018 (Mc- Guire and Pluck) and the first that is not a freshman. COSME, STAM MAKE 2018 DEBUTS As the Blue Devils wrapped up their Sunday victory at Syracuse, two Blue Devils saw their first action of the 2018 season. Stam recorded one save and earned the combined shutout with Brooke Heinsohn to give Duke its sixth clean sheet of the season. PASCHALL SHINES FROM THE SPOT The first two penalty attempts of the season came up against Nebraska and Blue Devil sophomore Karlie Paschall made each one count to help Duke secure a 3-1 win. Tied at 1-1, Paschall put away Duke s first PK of the season and then added a second minutes later to give the squad a little bit of insurance. The two conversions were the first PK attempts of Paschall s career outside of a shootout. The Brentwood, Tenn., native converted her PK attempt during the shootout against UCLA in the 2017 NCAA College Cup Semifinals. WEEKLY HONORS FOR HEINSOHN After posting a pair of shutouts, including a career showing in a top 15 road matchup, Duke goalkeeper Brooke Heinsohn was been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 28. The is the first ACC weekly honor for Heinsohn in her career. This is the first weekly laurel for a Blue Devil since Chelsea Burns was tabbed ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 31, 2017 and the first for a GK since EJ Proctor on Sept. 12, HEINSOHN BOUNCES BACK AT NO. 15 GEORGETOWN... After allowing a pair of goals against Illinois, redshirt sophomore Brooke Heinsohn came back with a vengeance in a top 15 showdown at Georgetown on Thursday. The Blue Devil goalkeeper shutdown the 15th-ranked Hoyas behind a career-high 10 saves. Her shutout was the second of the young season. Both of the clean sheets have come against top 25 opponents, marking the first time in program history that Duke has shut out two top 25 foes in the first three contests of the season. FRESHMEN SHINE AGAINST NO. 23 OHIO STATE Newcomer Mackenzie Pluck didn t waste much time making her presence known on the collegiate scene, as she tallied her first-career goal just minutes into the start of the second half of Thursday s Blue Devil win. She became the first freshman since Ella Stevens and Lexi Magliarditi in 2016 against Wofford to score their first-career goal in their collegiate debut. Fellow freshmen Marykate McGuire and Sydney Simmons earned the start in Thursday s contest, marking the most freshmen to start their first collegiate match in a season for Duke since 2014, when five players did. DWS OPENS SEASON IN SOLID FASHION... After a quiet first half, goals from freshman Mackenzie Pluck and senior Taylor Racioppi in the final 45 secured Duke s 26th opening day win in program history, defeating No. 23 Ohio State, 2-0. Duke is now a perfect in season openers at home in program history. The win also moved Duke to all-time against Ohio State, including a perfect at home. CHURCH ENTERS 18TH YEAR AS THE BLUE DEVIL BOSS... Robbie Church is looking to build off one of the most impressive seasons in program history as he begins his 18th season at the helm of Duke women s soccer. The 2017 ACC Coach of the Year and leader of the 2017 United Soccer Coaches National Staff of the Year will look to lead Duke to its 24th NCAA Tournament appearance in In his 17 seasons, Church has amassed a record and has won 52 matches over the last three seasons, guiding the Blue Devils to NCAA College Cup appearances in two of the three years. The Duke women s soccer leader looks to continue the success he has had over the last 15 years with 202 wins, 14 NCAA Tournament appearances and three trips to the NCAA College Cup in 2011, 2015 and CLEMSON OCTOBER 13 TEAM NATIONAL STAFF OF THE YEAR BACK AT IT AGAIN... A key to Duke s success in 2017: the Blue Devil coaching staff. That group of four, awarded United Soccer Coaches National Staff of the Year last season, returns for its third season together. Over the past two seasons the crew has won 38 matches, advanced to the NCAA College Cup, won an ACC regular season title and finished top 10 both years in the Coaches poll. Individually, the staff has produced four All-Americans, 19 All-ACC selections and eight Academic All-America selections. RECAPPING A HISTORIC 2017 CAMPAIGN... Church orchestrated one of the greatest seasons in school history in 2017, highlighted by 13 broken school records and the program s fourth NCAA College Cup appearance. The Blue Devils amassed a program-record 23 victories in 2017 and went in conference play en route to claiming the ACC regular season championship for the third time in history. Duke s rewriting of the record book did not stop there, as it also set the school record for shutouts (18), home wins (15), ACC wins (10), ranked victories (9) ACC shutouts (8) and ACC goal differential (+20). Church led Duke to its 23rd NCAA Tournament appearance and 14th in the last 15 seasons, while also being awarded with the second No. 1 seed in school history, with the other coming in Individually, the Blue Devils produced a school record three United Soccer Coaches All-Americans, as well as a school-best and league-high nine All- ACC stars. Those included ACC Offensive Player of the Year/First Team All-American (Imani Dorsey), Midfielder of the Year/First Team All-American (Rebecca Quinn) and Defender of the Year/Third Team All-American (Schuyler DeBree). BULK OF 2017 SCORING RETURNS FOR THE BLUE DEVILS... Despite losing a handful of seniors from the memorable 2017 season, including a program-record six NWSL picks, five starters and a majority of the Blue Devils scoring returns this season. Duke did lose top point getter Imani Dorsey (14 goals, 10 assists and 38 points), but returns four of its top five point scorers and four of its top five in goals, including Kayla McCoy (14 goals, seven assists and 35 points), Ella Stevens (five goals, 11 assists and 21 points), Chelsea Burns (six goals, three assists and 15 points) and Taylor Racioppi (five goals, five assists and 15 points). WEALTH OF OFFSEASON US EXPERIENCE FOR DWS... Four different Blue Devils saw time with a United States squad during the offseason. Goalkeeper Brooke Heinsohn had two stints with the U-20 squad, traveling to France (Feb. 23 March 7) and Spain (March 29 April 10). Kayla McCoy and Ella Stevens traveled to Portland, Ore., with the U-23 team from March for the 2018 Thorns Spring Invitational. Taylor Mitchell joined the U-20 squad for the final training camp (June 25 July 12) in Portland ahead of the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup after spending time in the U-19 training camp in Chula Vista, Calif., in May. MCCOY, STEVENS TABBED PRESEASON ALL-ACC... A pair of Blue Devils reeled in preseason conference honors, as senior Kayla McCoy and junior Ella Stevens were named to the 11-member preseason All-ACC team following a vote by the 14 league head coaches. This is the first preseason All-ACC honor for both players, while the Blue Devils were picked to finish fourth in the league. As a team, the reigning ACC regular season champions received 151 points, including three firstplace votes. DUKE LANDS AT NO. 3 IN PRESEASON COACHES POLL... In the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25, the Blue Devils came in at No. 3, making their highest preseason ranking since earning the same spot in Duke has now been preseason ranked in the top 10 for the fourth time and top 15 for the fifth time over the last seven seasons. Duke is the highest ranked of the eight ACC schools either ranked or receiving votes in the poll. Heading into her final season, senior Kayla McCoy is one of 45 players named to the Women s MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, which is presented annually to the most outstanding female player of the year.
