NEBRASKA, SAINT LOUIS TIP OFF HUSKERS FIFTH SEASON ON FOX SPORTS MIDWEST The Nebraska basketball team will try to run its season-opening win streak to four straight games when it faces a tough Saint Louis squad at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Tuesday, Nov. 25. The game will tip off at 7:07 p.m. The Nebraska-Saint Louis contest will be the first of eight games televised in the state of Nebraska on Fox Sports Midwest (channel 37 on Time Warner in the Lincoln area; channel 47 in Omaha on Cox Cable). Greg Sharpe returns as the Huskers television play-by-play man and this year he will be joined by Husker legend and 14-year NBA veteran Eric Piatkowski, who will serve as color analyst. All of Nebraska s games can also be heard on the IMG Husker Sports Radio Network, consisting of 31 stations around the state, and for free around the world on the Internet at Huskers.com, the official Web site of Nebraska Athletics. Although Nebraska has posted just a overall record on Fox Sports Midwest since the season, the Huskers have been impressive in non-conference home games on FSMW, earning a 7-1 record. 2 2 HUSKERS.COM SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS Saint Louis will be making its first road trip of the season when it travels to face Nebraska in the Devaney Center this week. The Billikens come into Tuesday s matchup against NU sporting a 2-1 record following a victory over Boston College at home on Saturday. SLU s other victory came in the season-opener against Missouri-Kansas City, 48-33, while its loss was an overtime setback against Kent State, In their last contest, the Billikens shot just 37.5 percent from the floor and had 16 turnovers, but their defensive pressure forced Boston College to connect at only a 33.3-percent clip, including hitting just 3-of-16 from 3-point range. SLU also posted a advantage on the glass while hitting 75.0 percent (15-of-20) from the free throw line. Guard Kevin Lisch led the way with 15 points against the Eagles, hitting 4-of-9 attempts from the floor, although he was just 2-of-6 from 3-point range. Forward Brian Conklin added 11 points and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Guard Tommie Liddell III also just missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. On the season, Lisch has paced the SLU offense, averaging a solid 18.3 points per game on 60.0 percent (12-of-20) shooting. Liddell is the only other Billiken in double figures, averaging 13.3 points per contest while adding a team-high 9.7 rebounds per game. Saint Louis has averaged 58.3 points per game while holding opponents to 38.9 percent shooting and 53.0 points per contest. SLU also owns a rebounding advantage this year. The Billikens are guided by Rick Majerus (Marquette, 1970), who is in his 22nd season as a head coach with stops at Marquette, Ball State and Utah before taking over the Billikens. Majerus has never had a losing season and with a career record, he ranks 12th among active coaches in winning percentage (.730). He is in his second season with the Billikens. Majerus has taken his teams to the postseason 15 times, including two NCAA Sweet 16 appearances, an Elite Eight berth and a national runner-up finish at Utah. Overall, the teams are tied in the series with each owning three victories. Three of the six games have been played in Lincoln, with NU holding a 2-1 mark against SLU on the Huskers home court. Saint Louis is 2-0 at home against Nebraska, while the lone neutral-site matchup was won by the Huskers, , in the season opener in the San Juan Shootout, the last time Nebraska and Saint Louis played. Nebraska has not fared extremely well against teams from the Atlantic 10 Conference. In its brief history with teams from that league, the Huskers are just 8-11 (.421) in matchups with A10 schools. Saint Louis will be the second A10 opponent to come to the Devaney Center in Nebraska s last four home games. 3 NEBRASKA BASKETBALL 3 DEFENSIVE WIZARDS The Huskers and Billikens are both built to play defense and are led by two of the best defensive minds in the country in Nebraska s Doc Sadler and Saint Louis Rick Majerus. This season, Nebraska is allowing just 49.7 points per game with opponents shooting 36.9 percent, including only 17.0 percent from 3-point range. NU has forced 62 turnovers in three games. Saint Louis is equally as dominant on defense, allowing just 53.0 points per game on 38.9 percent shooting, including only 21.7 percent from long range. Last year, each was among the best defensive teams in the country. Nebraska led the Big 12 and ranked 18th nationally in scoring defense (60.7 ppg) and 28th in field-goal percentage defense (40.2). Saint Louis also ranked in the top 25 nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 61.6 points per game (25th) while teams hit 42.3 percent from the floor. Both teams are guard-oriented, as neither squad is extremely tall. The Huskers do not have a player over 6-6 averaging more than 10 minutes per game. Saint Louis only has two players (Brett Thopmson, 6-10; Willie Reed, 6-9) listed over 6-6 on the roster, although both play at least 15 minutes per game. PIKE MAKES SECOND DEBUT VS. SLU Nebraska will be taking on the Saint Louis Billikens for the first time since the campaign when they meet in Lincoln on Tuesday. The contest will be the first of eight Nebraska games seen on Fox Sports Midwest this season. Making his broadcasting debut on Tuesday will be Husker legend Eric Piatkowski, the secondleading scorer in NU history and a 14-year NBA veteran. Piatkowski will be the Huskers television color analyst this season, joining veteran play-by-play man Greg Sharpe. The Huskers hope Piatkowski s second debut against the Billikens is as good as his first. As a redshirt freshman in , Piatkowski began one of the greatest careers in school history with a season-opener against Saint Louis in the San Jaun Shootout in Puerto Rico. Piatkowski played 25 minutes in his first career game, scoring 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting. He was one of four double-figure scorers against the Billikens as Nebraska raced to a victory to tip off the best campaign in school history. Nebraska finished that year with a 26-8 mark, a school-record for victories. NU earned the highest ranking in school history (11th AP; 9th UPI) while starting a four-year run of NCAA Tournament berths for the Huskers. QUICK HITS Here is a quick look at the Huskers through three games this season: Nebraska has just one player (Steve Harley, 10.3 ppg) averaging double figures, as the scoring has been evenly distributed. Five players are averaging at least seven points per game, with three others adding at least four points per contest. The Huskers have had a different leading scorer in each game (McCray, 17 vs. SJSU; Velander, 11 vs. TCU; Harley, 14 vs. UAPB). The only other player to record a doublefigure scoring game so far is Sek Henry (14 vs. UAPB). NU has forced 62 turnovers (20.6 per game) through three contests while allowing 21 assists on 48 made baskets. Seven Huskers are averaging at least 1.0 steal per game. Sek Henry leads the way with eight steals, including a career-high four steals against San Jose State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Ryan Anderson, who ranked 18th last year in the Big 12 in rebounding, leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game. For his career, he s averaging 5.1 boards per game. Brandon Richardson has been excellent with his decision-making, posting just one turnover in his first 55 career minutes. He has also shown great shot selection, hitting a team-best 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from the floor. Cookie Miller leads the team with 11 assists against five turnovers in 68 minutes off the bench. None GETTING DEFENSIVE Nebraska coach Doc Sadler has never had a problem getting his teams ready to play defense and the version of the Huskers seems to be no different. Through three games, Nebraska is allowing just 49.7 points per contest. Opponents have hit 36.9 percent (48-of-130) from the field, including 17.0 percent (8-of-47) from 3-point range. Nebraska has also forced 62 turnovers and collected 36 steals in three contests. Nebraska held TCU to just 10 field goals in its first road game of the season. The 10 field goals allowed were the second-lowest by a Husker squad under Sadler, trailing only the nine baskets allowed at home by North Carolina Central last season. The 10 field goals by the Horned Frogs were the fewest by an opponent away from the Devaney Center since Centenary had 10 baskets to open the season at the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska. The 50 points scored by TCU marked the fewest Nebraska has allowed on the road since NU held Kansas State to 42 points in the first league road game of the campaign. In non-conference play, it was the fewest points a Husker squad has given up away from the Devaney Center since holding Centenary to 45 points in the first game of TCU's 50 points were also the fewest Nebraska has allowed in a true road opener since giving up just 49 points at Minnesota in the season. Nebraska gave up just 96 points in its first two games of the season, the second lowest total given up by a Husker defense since the start of the season. Since the formation of the Big Seven in , Nebraska has allowed fewer points to open a year only three times. The Huskers have allowed 149 points in the first three games of the year, the second straight year Nebraska has allowed fewer than 150 points in its first three games. The last time NU held its first three opponents to 150 or fewer combined points to open consecutive seasons was and Fewest Points Allowed First Three Games of Year (Since ) ENERGY GUYS Following the season-opening contest against San Jose State, Coach Doc Sadler praised several players for their energy and hustle, especially the ones off the bench. Leading the way was redshirt freshman Brandon Richardson, who posted six points, three rebounds, an assist and four steals in 16 minutes in his career debut. Richardson s numbers did not tell the whole story as he made several dives to the floor and other hustle plays to ignite NU in the second half after SJSU cut the lead from 18 points to five. His steal off an inbounds and three-point play turned the game around, helping NU score 10 points in less than a minute to pull away for good. Richardson has continued to improve and gain confidence each time he hits the court. In his last contest against UAPB, he scored nine points and had two assists without a turnover in 23 minutes of action. Along with Richardson, senior Paul Velander has also been praised by Sadler for his energy coming off the bench. Velander has hit three 3-pointers in each contest this year and is second on the team in scoring at 9.7 points per game. He also leads the team with four charges taken this year. MCCRAY MAKING NAME FOR HIMSELF Redshirt freshman Toney McCray has already started to make a name for himself among Husker fans. The lanky 6-6, 205-pound guard led the team in scoring and rebounding through two games, posting 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds. His season totals fell to 8.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game as he played just eight minutes against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, all in the first half, as he sat out the second period with an illness. In his first career game, McCray scored game highs with 17 points and nine rebounds against San Jose State in his career debut and followed up with nine points and five rebounds in his first road contest in a victory over TCU. McCray hit 6-of-15 shots from the floor in his career debut against the Spartans. He just missed becoming the first Husker freshman to record a double-double in his first career game since Aleks Maric accomplished the feat in McCray came back with nine points in the first road game of his career at TCU. MCCRAY NAMED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Nebraska redshirt freshman guard Toney McCray was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week in a vote by league sportswriters on Monday, Nov. 17. McCray was honored alongside Oklahoma s Blake Griffin, who won the league s player-of-the-week award.

5 NEBRASKA BASKETBALL 5 The 6-6, 205-pounder from Missouri City, Texas, was the Huskers leading scorer and rebounder in both its exhibition win and the season-opening win over San Jose State on Sunday. McCray, one of four Huskers who redshirted last year, quickly made his presence felt on the court this season as he posted a game-high 17 points against the Spartans. He also added a team-high nine rebounds, just missing out on becoming the first Husker since Aleks Maric to produce a double-double in his first career game. McCray also added a steal and an assist in 23 minutes off the bench, helping the Huskers to a advantage in bench scoring. McCray is the second player in Coach Doc Sadler s three years to earn the league s rookieof-the-week award. Last year, guard Ade Dagunduro won the award on Dec. 17 for his effort in helping the Huskers defeat nationally ranked Oregon. Overall, McCray is the eighth Husker to win the league award. Only two players, Joe McCray and Kimani Ffriend, have won the rookie-of-the-week award more than once for the Huskers as each earned it two times in their first season in Lincoln. TURNING IT OVER Nebraska will try to turn up the defensive pressure at times this season, especially while playing with a heavily guard-oriented lineup, including at times five guards on the floor at once. That strong defensive push was evident in the Huskers opener as they forced 25 San Jose State turnovers. Spartans point guard Justin Graham was frustrated into 10 turnovers while going 0-of-5 from the floor in 33 minutes of action. The 25 turnovers Nebraska forced in the season opener against San Jose State were the second-highest total under Coach Doc Sadler. The most turnovers a Husker squad has forced in Sadler s tenure is 26 last season against North Carolina Central. NU has now forced 62 turnovers through three games, while allowing teams to record just 21 assists on 48 baskets. The Huskers have forced at least 20 turnovers in two games this year. Nebraska posted 16 steals in the defensive effort against San Jose State, the most by the Huskers under Sadler. The previous best under Sadler was 15 steals against North Texas in Eight Huskers have recorded a steal this year, including four with at least five steals. Junior guard Sek Henry and redshirt freshman Brandon Richardson each had four steals apiece against San Jose State in the opener. Henry added four more against UAPB on Saturday. The defensive pressure has helped Nebraska to a advantage in points off turnovers this season. NEW LINES DRAWN With the 3-point line moving back one foot from 19-9 to 20-9 for the first time in men s college basketball this season, the Huskers smaller lineup could benefit from the floor opening up from longer carooms after missed 3-pointers. In the season opener against San Jose State, the teams hit 11-of-37 from beyond the arc, leaving many opportunities for long rebounds. NU took advantage as it held a rebounding lead. Five Huskers collected at least four rebounds with 6-6 guard Toney McCray leading the way with nine. Nebraska s 3-point defense has been solid in three years under Coach Doc Sadler and this season is no different. With the line moved back and Nebraska s tenacious defense extending itself, opponents have missed 39-of-47 shots from beyond the arc. That has left numerous rebounds to be collected and helped Nebraska remain close on the boards. Through three games, Ryan Anderson leads the team with 6.3 boards per game. Anderson, who despite standing just 6-4 has played the 4 spot for the Huskers all three of his seasons with the team, is one of the Big 12 s top returning rebounders from last season. The Seattle, Wash., native ranked 18th in the league in rebounding last season with 5.6 boards per game. Anderson had a game-high eight rebounds on the road against TCU and came back with a game-high six boards on Saturday against UAPB. The Huskers outrebounded both of their first two opponents but were outrebounded for the first time this year, 33-27, by Arkansas- Pine Bluff. HARLEY STARTING TO REV UP Guard Steve Harley came on strong at the end of last season when he was named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team by the league's sportswriters for his play in league action. Over the final 12 league games and the postseason, Harley assumed a lead role in the Husker offense, ranking second on the team with 11.0 points per game as he hit 45 percent from the floor including nearly 43 percent from 3-point range. He shot better than 78 percent from the charity stripe in that stretch. This year he looks to pick up where he left off as he tries to guide the Huskers to their second straight postseason berth. Harley currently leads the team with 10.3 points RECAPPING THE UAPB GAME With the win, Doc Sadler has guided the Huskers to a 3-0 start in each of his first three seasons. Before Sadler arrived, the last time Nebraska was 3-0 in three consecutive seasons was to under Joe Cipriano. The Huskers are 3-0 for a third consecutive season for just the second time since World War I and for just the fourth time in program history. The win marked Coach Doc Sadler s 30th victory at the Devaney Center. It took Sadler just 37 games in the building to reach the 30-win plateau, tying Moe Iba as the fastest coach to 30 home victories since the Devaney Center opened prior to the season. The win was Nebraska s 27th consecutive home non-conference victory, including 26th straight at the Devaney Center. Coach Doc Sadler improved to a perfect 22-0 in home non-conference games in his NU career. Nebraska s last home non-conference loss came in a setback to UAB on Dec. 3, The Huskers got out of the gate slowly, trailing by six points on three occasions, the last at 21-15, before finishing the period on a 17-3 run over final 7:42 of the period. Nebraska recorded 11 steals, including nine in the first half. The Huskers have had at least nine steals in each game this season. Nebraska was outrebounded for the first time this season, trailing on the boards by a margin. Nebraska forced 23 turnovers, the second time in three games this season NU has forced at least 20 turnovers. The Huskers also forced more than 20 turnovers in their first home game against San Jose State (25 turnovers). Junior guard Sek Henry had a season-high 14 points. He started strong, going 4-of-5 from the floor for 12 points in the first period while adding three steals in the first frame. Senior guard Steve Harley had a game-high 18 points. Harley opened the game hitting four of his first six shots in the first period, scoring 11 points. Saturday s game marked the first time this season the Huskers had more than one player score double figures. Nebraska recorded a season-high with its 67 points.

Although he has hit just 40.7 percent from the floor, Harley has been one of the most aggressive Huskers getting to the basket, as he is second on the team with 10 trips to the free throw line (eight made free throws). Harley is also averaging 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steal per game. In his last contest, Harley led Nebraska past Arkansas-Pine Bluff with a game-high 18 points, the highest total by a Husker this season. He hit 7-of-14 shots from the floor in 26 minutes of action. ANDERSON NEARING RECORD BOOK At 6-4, guard Ryan Anderson may be a little undersized to play in the front court, but he is one of the biggest players on the court when he steps outside the 3-point line. Anderson has made a living with the long ball in Lincoln, hitting 100 treys in his career. He ranked second on the NU freshman list with 48 3-pointers in and last year posted 50 treys to rank third on the Huskers' sophomore chart. Only Nebraska's all-time 3-point leader, Cary Cochran, has made more shots from outside the arc by the end of his sophomore season, as Cochran had 101 through two years. Anderson became the only Husker ever to post at least 48 treys in each of his first two years at NU. Anderson needs just three 3-pointers to tie Chris Cresswell for 10th on the NU career list. By hitting his average of 49 3-pointers this year, Anderson would move into sixth place on the chart and put himself in position to become just the third Husker in history with at least pointers, joining Cochran (268) and Eric Piatkowski (202). The only fifth-year player for the Huskers this season, Velander enters his final year ranked ninth in NU history for 3-point field-goal percentage at 38.7 percent (77-of-199) while coming off the bench in 62-of-63 contests. With another year similar to the last two (36 and 32 3-pointers, respectively), Velander will also have a shot to reach the Nebraska career top 10 in 3-pointers made. Ray Richardson ( ) MILLER READY TO ROLL Cookie Miller was the only true freshman to play for the Huskers last year when he posted near-record numbers for assists (109) and steals (58). This year, he will try to take it a step higher as he is one of the top returning point guards in the Big 12 Conference. Miller ranked sixth in the league for assists per game (3.6) last year and was the only freshman to rank in the top 10 for assist-to-turnover ratio (1.7). He was fourth in the Big 12 for steals per game (1.93), and owned the top spot with 2.0 steals per game in Big 12-only contests. This season, Miller has come off the bench in each of the first three games and leads NU with 11 assists and is second with seven steals while committing just five turnovers. Former Husker great Cookie Belcher owns the Nebraska freshman record for steals with 87 and holds the NU and Big 12 Conference record with 253 steals in his career. Miller will try to join Belcher and Erick Strickland as the only Huskers with at least 100 steals at the end of their sophomore seasons. Among the eight newcomers last year, four redshirted, including Alex Chapman, Alonzo Edwards, Toney McCray and Brandon Richardson. Of the four who did not redshirt, three Steve Harley, Ade Dagunduro and Cookie Miller played significant roles as they combined to make 76 starts last year. Harley (9.1 ppg, 20 starts) and Dagunduro (8.9 ppg, 32 starts) ranked second and third on the team in scoring, while Miller led the squad in assists (109, 3.6 apg) and steals (58, 1.9 spg). This year's newcomers include freshmen Eshaunte Jones and Christopher Niemann. Jones is athletic and possesses a tremendous basketball IQ, but due to a foot injury, he could opt to redshirt. Niemann will not play in as he must sit out under an NCAA ruling. Jones, a native of Fort Wayne, Ind., played last season at Hargrave Military Academy where he averaged 15 points over the first 12 games before a season-ending injury. He was a first-team all-state player as a senior in Indiana. Niemann came to Nebraska from Germany and will be the fourth foreign-born player to compete at NU under Sadler. According to Sadler, Niemann is expected to provide an offensive force in the paint in future seasons. HUSKERS SIGN FOUR FOR Third-year coach Doc Sadler announced Friday, Nov. 14, that a strong lineup of four talented athletes, including three standing 6-8 or taller, have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Nebraska basketball squad for the season. Among the signees are: 6-10, 220-pound center Vander Joaquim from Luanda, Angola; 6-8, 210-pound forward Christian Standhardinger from Munich, Germany; 6-9, 220-pound forward Brandon Ubel from Overland Park, Kan.; and 6-2, 175- pound point/shooting guard Rayes Gallegos from Jordan, Utah. I m excited about this class and what they can bring to Nebraska, Sadler said. When we go on the road, something we look for in addition to talent is character, and that has been a continued priority this year. I feel good about the way they will represent Nebraska. On the court, I feel they will help us continue to improve and compete for a Big 12 championship. Joaquim averaged 21.1 points and 16.8 rebounds per contest last year with 89 blocks. He was ranked the No. 12 high school center in the country by Scout.com (71st nationally overall) and No. 15 center by Rivals.com (115th nationally overall). Joaquim was tabbed the No. 2 power forward on the West Coast by Scout.com before moving to West Virginia to attend Mountain State Academy in 2w Standhardinger was named the MVP of the NBBL in 2008 and in the final of the 2008 U19 German Championship, he scored 37 points and posted 12 rebounds. He also earned top scorer honors at the Europe s Best Junior Tournament in 2007 and was the MVP of the German Top 4 in Standhardinger also was a member of the German Junior National Team in 2007 and This season, Standhardinger has averaged 19.1 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 assists per game for his club team. Ubel is a skilled forward with a nice touch from outside who also possesses the ability to score off a number of post moves and midrange jumpers. Last year as a junior, he helped Blue Valley West to the state tournament and his team won the Class 6A state title during his sophomore season. During the summer AAU circuit, Ubel averaged close to 20 points and eight rebounds per game for the Wedman Pumas. He owns a 4.1 grade-point average in high school and his sister, Kayla Ubel, is a sophomore on the NU track team. Gallegos came on during the summer AAU circuit when he averaged about 25 points per game. Gallegos was rated the No. 53 shooting guard in the country by Scouts.com and was tabbed the No. 7 shooting guard on the West Coast. Gallegos was the team s third-leading scorer at 10.5 points per game as a junior, helping the team to the state tournament. SCHEDULE NOTES Nebraska faces a rugged schedule as it will play 13 of its 29 regular-season games against teams that reached the 2008 postseason. Eight of the 13 game against postseason teams will be played at the Devaney Center. Among the Huskers' opponents that reached last year's NCAA Tournament were: NCAA champion Kansas (twice), Elite Eight participant Texas, NCAA second-round qualifiers Kansas State (twice) and Texas A&M along with NCAA qualifiers Baylor, Oklahoma and UMBC. NU will also face Arizona State, Creighton, Alabama State and Oklahoma State, all of which played in the postseason NIT. The Huskers will play 18 regular-season games at the Devaney Center for the second straight season. Last year, the Huskers went 15-3 in the building with the only losses coming to eventual national champion Kansas and NCAA qualifier Baylor, along with an overtime setback to Missouri. Nebraska will look to keep an outstanding home winning streak alive in as the Huskers' look for their 33rd straight winning season at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Huskers have never had a losing season in the Devaney Center since the building opened for the campaign. The Huskers will play three true road games during the non-conference slate, facing Arizona State in the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series along with Oregon State and TCU. It will be the sixth time in the Big 12 era that the Huskers have played at least three true road games in non-league action and the first time since when Nebraska played at UAB, Marquette and Tennessee. The Huskers will be seen on television within the state at least 24 times during the season, including every road game for the second straight year. Every conference road game will be televised for the third consecutive season. The Huskers have averaged more than 13 televised contests (national, regional and local) each of the past seven years. SAN JOSE STATE (NU 63, SJSU 46) The Nebraska Cornhuskers jumped out of the gate in fine fashion, using a 17-0 second-half run to keep San Jose State at bay in a victory at the Devaney Center. The Huskers went into halftime with an 18-point lead but saw it nearly vanish as, at one point, NU went more than eight minutes without a field goal. SJSU cut the lead to five before redshirt freshman Brandon Richardson and senior Paul Velander turned it up a notch on defense and redshirt freshman Toney McCray led the Huskers on offense as they picked up their sixth straight season-opening victory. McCray paced the squad with 17 points and nine rebounds while Velander added nine points on three 3-pointers. Nebraska harrassed the Spartans into 25 turnovers on the day while collecting 16 steals, the most under third-year coach Doc Sadler. GAME 2 AT TCU (NU 62, TCU 50) Playing in their first road game of the season, the Nebraska Huskers responded in strong fashion, holding off TCU for a victory in Ft. Worth. The win snapped a streak of 12 straight losses in true road openers, and was only Nebraska's third win in the Big 12 era in the first game of the season away from Lincoln. Nebraska shot the ball well from 3-point range, hitting 5-of-10 from beyond the arc in the opening period while overcoming 15 first-half fouls. NU used a 9-0 run to burst out to a lead at the break. The Huskers were up 16, 42-26, before the Horned Frogs mounted a comeback, pulling within seven, 46-39, before redshirt freshman Toney McCray drained a 3-pointer from the corner with the shot clock winding down to ignite the offense. Nebraska held TCU to just 10 field goals, including only three 3-pointers on 19 attempts, as the Horned Frogs shot just 27.0 percent from the floor. The 50 points were the fewest NU has allowed in a true road opener since GAME 3 VS. ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF (NU 67, UAPB 53) Nebraska was sluggish to start but picked up the pace over the final minutes of the first half and held off a hard-nosed effort by Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 67-53, at the Devaney Center. The Huskers used a 17-3 run over the last 7:42 before halftime to go into the break up Sek Henry scored 12 of his 14 points in the opening frame while Steve Harley led the Huskers with 18 points in the contest. Nebraska forced 23 turnovers and won despite losing the battle on the boards, Along with Harley and Henry, Paul Velander added three 3-pointers for the third straight game and Brandon Richardson had the best of his young career, scoring nine points with two assists in 23 minutes. NU had 11 steals in the contest with Henry leading the way with four.
