The Cornhuskers and Cowboys will tip off at 12:47 p.m. in a contest that will leave the winner among those teams still in the hunt for a top-four finish and a bye in the first round of the Big 12 Championship. The game between the Huskers and Cowboys will be telecast regionally on ESPN Plus (Channel 8 KLKN in Lincoln; Channel 15 KXVO in Omaha; KIIT in North Platte) with veteran commentators Bob Carpenter (play-by-play) and Jon Sundvold (color) calling the action. The Cornhuskers have surged back into contention for a postseason bid over the past 10 days, winning three straight Big 12 contests including a pair of matchups one at home and one on the road with teams that were ranked among the top 25 in the country at tipoff. Overall Nebraska is 6-3 since Jan. 27 after starting league play 0-4, including a pair of matchups with top-10 Kansas. Only Texas (8-1) has a better record in the Big 12 in that span, while Saturday's opponent, Oklahoma State, is just behind the Huskers at 5-3. OSU has won five of its last six games with three of the victories by a combined four points. Nebraska has had win streaks of three consecutive league games in four of the past five seasons, but a win Saturday would give the Huskers their first four-game conference win streak since That season, Nebraska had five- and four-game win streaks separated by one loss. NU's longest win streak in league play since the formation of the Big 12 Conference was six games to end the 1998 regular season, which preceded Nebraska's last NCAA Tournament appearance. The Huskers have hit 53.3 percent from the floor in their current win streak with junior guard Steve Harley leading the way by averaging 16.0 points per contest. The Huskers have won three of the last four matchups, including three straight in the regular season. OSU leads in Stillwater, Okla., including in Gallagher-Iba Arena, but Nebraska won the last matchup in Oklahoma, 59-57, in The previous contest in Stillwater in 2004 went to overtime as No. 4 Oklahoma State defeated the Huskers During the Big 12 era, the series record is tied at 6-6 and OSU leads 3-2 in Stillwater. + Stat to Watch Last year, guard Paul Velander was 8-of-29 (.276) from 3-point range in the first 12 games of the 2007 Big 12 season before finishing the last four league contests hitting 9-of-21 (.429) beyond the arc. Velander was 3-for-3 from 3-point range vs. Oklahoma earlier this week after hitting 5-of-19 (.263) in the first 12 games this year Nebraska Men's Basketball No other Husker is averaging double figures in the stretch, although six players are averaging at least 5.0 points per contest in that span. Maric added 11 rebounds on Wednesday and now is the all-time leader in rebounds during conference-only games. Maric has 536 career rebounds against Big 12 teams, passing the former record of 535 set by Texas' James Thomas. Maric also needs just three rebounds Saturday to become only the second player in Nebraska history to post at least 260 rebounds in consecutive seasons. He will join 1999 Big 12 Player of the Year Venson Hamilton, who is the Huskers' all-time leading rebounder with 1,080 boards. During the recent surge, Nebraska has held opponents to just 40.8 percent shooting, including 30.3 percent from 3-point range. Kansas State is the only team in that span to top 60 points as the Wildcats scored 64 points, while Texas A&M recorded 59 points and Oklahoma was held to just 45 points on Wednesday. The Sooners scored only 12 points in the first half, the fourth time this season NU held a team to 12 or fewer points in a period. It was just one point off the Big 12 Conference record for fewest points in a half of a league game. NU set that defensive record two weeks ago by holding Iowa State to 11 points in the first half in Ames, Iowa. + Full Throttle Nebraska has been up and down throughout the season with its offensive performance, but has seen its best ball movement and execution over the past three games. During that span, the Huskers have posted three straight wins to pull within a game of.500 in the league standings heading into Saturday's showdown with Oklahoma State. Over the past three games, Nebraska has hit at least 50.0 percent in each contest, knocking down 51.9 percent against Kansas State, 59.0 percent at Texas A&M and 50.0 percent against Oklahoma. It is the first time in the Big 12 era that Nebraska has hit at least 50.0 percent against three consecutive league teams. Nebraska's 59.0 percent shooting (23-of-39) at Texas A&M last weekend was the second-highest single-game shooting performance by Nebraska against a league squad since the formation of the Big 12 Conference. The highest game total was 66.0 percent against Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., in Nebraska had hit better than 44 percent in a game just once in its first 10 conference games before the recent hot offensive streak. + Miller Suffers Shoulder Sprain Nebraska point guard Cookie Miller went down with a shoulder injury with six minutes to play in the contest at Texas A&M on Saturday, Feb. 23, and his availability for this weekend's game against Oklahoma State is doubtful. He was on the bench but did not dress in uniform for Wednesday's victory over Oklahoma at home. An MRI on Monday revealed that Miller suffered a severe shoulder sprain. The original, game-time diagnosis of a possible dislocated shoulder was up-graded following Monday's examinations. A time line for Miller's return has not been set as he is day-to-day. Miller, who ranks in the top five in assists, steals and assist:turnover ratio in Big 12-only games, has averaged 6.1 points, 4.1 assists and 2.0 steals per contest in 25 games this season. + Sadler Quickly Setting Marks Coach Doc Sadler will give all the credit to the players for making plays on the court, but he has put Nebraska players in position to find success like no other coach in program history. In his first two seasons in Lincoln, Sadler's teams have already posted 34 wins with 17 victories (so far) in each season. Sadler is the first coach in Nebraska basketball history to post at least 17 victories in each of his first two seasons at the helm of the program. Sadler's 34 overall wins rank second only to Paul Schlisser, who had 37 combined wins at Nebraska in the 1920 (22 wins) and 1921 (15 wins) seasons. Danny Nee, who holds the Nebraska career head coaching record with 254 victories in 14 seasons, also had 34 wins in his first two years, including 21 victories in 1987 and 13 wins in 1988.

3 + Maric Approaches Rare Numbers Nearing the end of a solid career in the powerful Big 12 Conference, senior center Aleks Maric can certainly stand up statistically with the best post players in the Big 12 era. Maric is already ninth among the career leaders in double-doubles and is 59 points from moving into the top 20 scorers. With his first rebound against Kansas State at home, Maric moved among the Big 12's top 10 rebounders and currently stands in seventh place entering the weekend contest with Oklahoma State. With 10 free throws against Texas Tech, Maric reached 400 in his career, becoming only the eighth player in the Big 12 era with 400 or more made free throws. He hit 12-of-14 against Missouri to move into fourth in the Big 12 era and now trails only Texas Tech's Martin Zeno (1st), Texas A&M's Joseph Jones (2nd) and former Texas A&M guard Bernard King (3rd). With 11 rebounds on Wednesday against Oklahoma, Maric became the all-time Big 12 leader in conferenceonly rebounds with 536. Texas's James Thomas held the previous record with 535 rebounds in league games between 2001 and One impressive list Maric joined last Saturday against Texas A&M is the 1,500-point, 900-rebound club. Maric and freshman Michael Beasley of Kansas State are the only players in the Big 12 Conference ranked among the league's top eight in scoring (Maric, 7th; 15.9 ppg), rebounding (3rd; 9.9 rpg) and field-goal percentage (2nd; 56.7) entering this weekend's action. Along with his powerful offensive game, Maric has improved defensively as well. He is second in the league in blocked shots (1.73 bpg) and has set a single-season career high with 30 steals. In Big 12-only games, Maric is second in the league in rebounding at 11.4 boards per game while ranking eighth in scoring at 15.6 points per contest. Maric is the active career leader in the Big 12 for rebounds (937), double-doubles (34) and double-figure rebound games (37). No other active player in the league has 25 double-doubles or double-figure rebounding games. He ranks second all-time at Nebraska in career rebounds and is ninth in scoring, as Maric passed former NBA firstround pick Rich King (1,475 points) on the scoring chart with 11 points at Iowa State. 4 + Husker Sports Network The Host Communications Husker Sports Network (formerly Pinnacle Sports Network) is in its 12th year producing and marketing live broadcasts of University of Nebraska football, men s and women s basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball games. The Husker Sports Network has created a large network of state and national affiliates. All regular-season men's basketball games and any postseason contests will be broadcast on a 30-station basketball network in KFAB (1110 AM) is the Omaha affiliate, KLIN (1400 AM) is the Lincoln affiliate and while KRVN (880 AM) in Lexington also serves as a primary state affiliate. Maric has 23 double-doubles in Big 12 play to tie for second in league-only games, trailing only NU's Venson Hamilton who had 24 double-doubles in Big 12 action. Maric added his first double-double of the campaign with a workmanlike 21 points and 16 rebounds against Alabama A&M and posted 17 points and 13 rebounds at Western Kentucky. He then went 11 games without a double-double until posting 13 points and 13 rebounds at Missouri. During his 11-game stretch without a double-double he had nine rebounds and double-figure points five times. Between Jan. 30 against Missouri and Feb. 20 against Kansas State, Maric recorded seven straight doubledoubles, the longest streak of his career. Last year, Maric finished the season with six straight double-doubles. During the seven-game surge, Maric averaged 14.4 rebounds per game, including 5.9 offensive boards per game. Henry has struggled to find a balance between offense and defense, but started to show signs of finding a comfortable middle ground in a road victory against Missouri. Henry kept the Huskers afloat in the first half, scoring 12 points in the opening frame on a career-high four 3-pointers. He entered the Missouri contest with just eight 3-pointers in the first 17 games of the season. Henry, who finished the contest with MU with 14 points, became the fourth Husker with at least four treys in a game this season. He joined Jay-R Strowbridge (4 vs. Presbyterian), Ryan Anderson (4 vs. Arizona State; 4 vs. Missouri at home) and Cookie Miller (4 vs. Colorado). The 14 points were one off his season high of 15 against North Carolina Central. It was his sixth career double-figure scoring game, and first career double-figure scoring game in Big 12 Conference play. It was his highest scoring effort in his first 21 career Big 12 contests. His previous high was nine in his first career league game last year. After the strong mid-week contest, Henry followed with 11 points and five rebounds against Iowa State and 10 points at Kansas State. It was the first time in his career that Henry scored double-figures in three straight games. He had scored double figures in back-to-back games only once before his current stretch, against Hawaii and Houston in the non-conference slate last year. Henry again came up big for the Huskers on the road against No. 22 Texas A&M. After point guard Cookie Miller was knocked out of the game with an injury, Henry stepped up to hit a pair of 3-pointers while also guiding the offense from the point guard spot. He finished with a team-high-tying 11 points. + Stepping Up During the Huskers' recent win streak, Nebraska has seen several players come off the bench to provide a spark and give NU the winning edge. In Nebraska's contest on Wednesday, junior guard Paul Velander was the most recent Husker to step up. After hitting just five 3-pointers in the first 12 league contests, Velander carried a great two days of practice over to the court where he went 3-of-3 from beyond the arc and posted a season-high 11 points off the bench against OU. The previous game at Texas A&M, Nebraska saw both sophomore guard Sek Henry and sophomore forward Chris Balham each post one of their best games of the year. Henry had 11 points including a pair of 3-pointers while running the point the final six minutes after point guard Cookie Miller went out with an injury. Balham added a career-high 10 points while hitting 5-of-7 shots from the floor, both career highs. Balham also had a solid impact with five points off the bench against Kansas State. Sophomore guard Jay-R Strowbridge also came off the bench to hit a pair of 3-pointers at key moments to help Nebraska to the upset of the ranked Wildcats. + Road Warrior Diminutive guard Cookie Miller showed early in his career that he can play with the big boys, especially in hostile environments. Miller proved how explosive his offensive game can be when he took over for the Huskers in the second half against Creighton in Omaha. Miller, who had recorded 11 points in his first three games combined, posted a game-high 19 points against the Blue Jays. After scoring eight in the first half, Miller came out on fire in the second period when he scored another 11 points to help NU outscore Creighton after the intermission in a come-from-behind attempt that fell short. Miller hit 7-of-13 attempts from the floor against the Blue Jays. In his first Big 12 Conference road game against Colorado, Miller again stepped up to pace the offense as

5 he posted a game-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting while hitting four 3-pointers. Miller's third double-figure scoring game also came on the road as he had 14 points to go with eight assists at Kansas State. In eight road games this season, Miller leads the team in scoring at 11.4 points per game. Center Aleks Maric is the only other double-figure scorer as he has posted 11.3 points with 10.6 rebounds away from home. Miller has hit 30-of-71 field-goal attempts (42.3 percent) away from the Devaney Center, including nailing nine shots from beyond the arc. At home, Miller has averaged 4.6 points per game on 34.9 percent shooting (29-of-83) including connecting on just 6-of-32 3-point attempts (18.8 percent) at home. + Dishing It Freshman point guard Cookie Miller had a tremendous impact on the outcome of Nebraska's first game back from a three-day break for Christmas, as he posted eight points, 10 assists and five steals in the Huskers' win over Alcorn State. Miller just missed his first career double-double while recording a then-personal high scoring effort in the Devaney Center (eight points; season high is 19 on the road). Miller's double-figure assists marked the 25th time and he became the ninth Husker since to record at least 10 assists in a game. He is the first freshman in that time to record double figure assists, making him the first Husker freshman in the Big 12 era to post at least 10 assists in a game. Miller nearly made it two straight games with doublefigure assists as he had nine assists against Maryland Eastern Shore in the non-conference finale. His 19 assists in two games were the most since Richardson had 22 (15 vs. Rutgers; 7 vs. Oregon) last year. In conference play, Miller has had 30 turnovers in 396 minutes (team-high 33.0 mpg) in league play, including only one turnover in 32 minutes against No. 3 Kansas at home and one miscue in 34 minutes in his first Big 12 road game against Colorado. If he can continue his success from the non-league play, Miller will likely be in the mix when the media votes on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team. Through Friday, Feb. 29, Miller ranked sixth in the Big 12 Conference in assist:turnover ratio (1.80-to-1), fourth in assists per game (4.04) and third in steals per game (2.04). He is the only freshman ranked in the top 10 in steals and assist:turnover ratio, and the only freshman in the top seven in assists. In league-only games, Miller is tied for second in steals per game at 2.00 and is sixth in assists (3.58) and seventh in assist:turnover ratio (1.43:1). + Stealing the Show Freshman Cookie Miller has quickly made a name for himself on the defensive end of the floor as he moved onto the Nebraska freshman top-10 steals list with five thefts against Alcorn State on Dec. 29. He had at least one steal in each of his first 14 career games until seeing the streak snapped against Colorado on the road. The only games Miller has not recorded a steal were against CU, Texas Tech and Missouri. After posting four games this season with at least five steals, Miller now ranks second in NU freshman history with a team-leading 51 steals this season. With 34 wins in his first two years at Nebraska, Sadler currently owns an record at the Division I level. He was at UTEP in two seasons and in five years at Arkansas-Fort Smith, giving him a career record in his ninth season as a college head coach. Sadler, who also had 38 wins in one season as a high school head coach, has averaged more than 22 wins per season in his college coaching career. His average at the Division I level will remain at least 20 wins per season. The honors marked the first time in school history Nebraska players were selected for the accolades in the same week. Maric was named the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 4, giving him three career nods. Add in his Big 12 Rookie of the Week selection in 2005 and he now has four career honors, the most honors by any Husker in the Big 12 era. Kimani Ffriend was the rookie of the three times as a junior in Maric is one of only three Huskers to earn the Big 12 Playerof-the-Week accolade, and he became the third Husker to earn the honor twice. Venson Hamilton also picked up the award twice in his senior season in 1999 (in back-to-back weeks) while Tyronn Lue added one nod as a sophomore and two awards as a junior, his last season at Nebraska before making an early entry into the NBA Draft. 6 + Ten Named to Honor Roll The Nebraska men s basketball team had 10 players earn academic accolades as they were named to the Big 12 Commissioner s Honor Roll for the 2007 fall semester. A total of 298 Husker student-athletes across all sports were named to the honor roll after posting grade-point averages of 3.0 or better during the 2007 fall semester, including 35 NU student-athletes who produced perfect 4.0 GPA semesters. Leading the way for the men s basketball team was repeat honoree Paul Velander, a junior guard from Blacksburg, Va. Velander, who is majoring in natural science education, was named to the honor roll for the sixth straight semester. One of the top men s basketball student-athletes in the Big 12 Conference, Velander was also a first-team academic All-Big 12 selection last year and will repeat the honor this spring. Returning Husker letterwinner Nick Krenk (economics & psychology) joined Velander on the Big 12 Commissioner s Honor Roll for the third straight semester while newcomer Cole Salomon (accounting), who redshirted his first year in the program in , was named to the squad for the second straight semester. Other returning lettermen who made the honor roll for the first time in their careers in the fall were Ryan Anderson (undeclared), Sek Henry (undeclared) and Ben Nelson (mechanized systems management). Overall, the Huskers 10 selections to the honor roll were the most in one semester by the Nebraska men s basketball team since placing 10 on the 2004 Spring Honor Roll. + Classroom Success After opening a new season with the beginning of Big 12 Conference action, the Nebraska men s basketball team also started a new season in the classroom when second semester classes began at UNL on Monday, Jan. 14. The Huskers hope to be as successful as last semester in both areas. As a team, Nebraska posted an 11-2 record on the court and was nearly as impressive off it. During the first semester in the classroom, the Huskers combined for a team grade-point average. Seventeen players earned at least a 2.5 individual GPA, including 11 Huskers with better than a 3.0. Among the newcomers, six earned at least a 3.0 in their first full semester at Nebraska. I think this says a lot about the players as individuals and competitors, said Nebraska head coach Doc Sadler. To build this program, we ve talked about how we need players who not only have talent, but who also have character. I think the effort that they ve given to produce this kind of success in the classroom shows the type of character we have on this team. Junior guard Paul Velander, a secondary education/natural science major, has helped pace the Huskers strong academic efforts. Last spring, Velander was the 24th Husker named to the all-academic squad since the formation of the Big 12 Conference, a total that ranks second in the league. Sadler has had a tradition of helping players find success in the classroom. As head coach at UTEP, Sadler saw 10 Miners earn at least a 3.0 grade-point average during the first semester in , his final year at the school. As head coach at Arkansas- Fort Smith, Sadler had a 95-percent graduation rate during his five-year tenure. + Good Works Team Guard Paul Velander, a walk-on from Blacksburg, Va., has made his mark both in the classroom and on the court for the Huskers during his career. The fourth-year junior picked up another honor on Feb. 8 when he was one of 12 athletes selected to the Big 12 Winter Sports Good Works Team. Velander, who was a first-team academic all-conference selection last year, currently ranks 11th in Nebraska history for career 3-point field-goal percentage as he has hit 37.0 percent from beyond the arc as a Husker. Velander was recognized for his community service efforts. Each student-athlete was selected by the institution based on significant community service, good academic standing and participation in Big 12-sponsored sport. conference play, Nebraska has also been solid in league action with a high water mark coming in the opening half of the game at Iowa State. The Cornhuskers set a Big 12 record for conferenceonly games by allowing ISU to score just 11 points in the opening period. The mark surpassed the effort of Oklahoma which held Texas Tech to 12 points in the first half of a contest in The Cyclones were limited to just 19.0 percent in the frame on 4-of-21 shooting. ISU went more than 10 minutes (10:26 to be exact) between field goals, scoring just two free throws while being forced to miss eight straight shots and committing nine turnovers in the span. In what could be seen as a microcosm of the Huskers' season, the defensive effort went for naught as ISU scored an opponent second-half high 49 points. + Anderson Makes Impact Guard Ryan Anderson was the second-leading returning scorer from last season and because of the early success as a true freshman, he has had high expectations put on him in his young career. After struggling to find his rhythm early in the season, Anderson made a huge impact for the Huskers between Jan. 30 and Feb. 23. During the eight-game surge, Anderson averaged 10.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while hitting 44.4 percent from the field, including 42.1 percent from 3-point range. Sixteen of his 27 made shots during the stretch came from beyond the arc. He also had 21 assists against just 12 turnovers and added 16 steals in those eight league contests. Anderson added two double-doubles during the eightgame span and is the only current Husker with a career double-double besides center Aleks Maric, who is ninth in the Big 12 era with 34 career double-doubles. Both of Anderson's double-doubles came against Missouri, with 11 points and 10 rebounds in Columbia and 15 points and a career-high tying 11 rebounds in Lincoln pointers Nebraska's impressive defensive performances against Savannah State and North Carolina Central marked the first time in the 31-year history of the Devaney Center that NU held consecutive opponents in the building to less than 40 points. NCCU's 28 points was the second-lowest total in building history and the second-fewest points allowed in a game by Nebraska since SSU's 37 points were the sixth-lowest in building history. Overall, the Huskers have held just five teams to less than 40 points in Devaney Center history, including two this season. The last time Nebraska held consecutive teams to less than 40 points at home was the first two games of the campaign. That season marked the last time Nebraska won a league title, as it tied for first place in the Big Seven Conference that year. + Under Pressure Since his introductory press conference, Coach Doc Sadler has said that he wants to get to the point where his team can pressure the opponent for 94 feet. With an upgrade in athleticism, speed and talent, that philosophy has already come into play more often this year. Sadler's penchant for a disruptive defense has been widely embraced by the players and fans alike. Through 26 games this season, Nebraska has forced 419 turnovers while recording 220 steals. Twelve Huskers have posted at least one steal in a game this year, including five players averaging at least one steal per game. Nebraska posted a season-high-tying 14 steals against North Carolina Central, equaling the mark set against Alabama A&M. The 14 steals are the second-most by a Husker squad under Sadler, trailing only the 15 against North Texas last year. The 14 steals against NCCU made it three consecutive games with double-figure steals. Nebraska also had at least 10 steals in four straight games against Baylor, at Kansas, at Missouri and against Iowa State. It was the first time since 1999 the Huskers had double-figure steals in four straight games. Overall this season, Nebraska has posted double-figure steals 10 times. The Huskers have had at least nine steals in 15 games this year after posting at least nine steals in just four games in Nebraska leads the Big 12 with 7.77 steals per game in 12 league-only contests. High Getting Defensive Nebraska has shown the ability to put on a strong defensive performance at times this season. The biggest show-stopper came against North Carolina Central on Dec. 22 when Nebraska set the then-big 12 Conference record by allowing just eight points in a half (first). NCCU posted only two 3-point field goals also tying the then-ncaa and Big 12 record low for field goals in a half and two free throws before intermission. The Big 12 and NCAA records held for only a couple weeks as Kansas State limited Savannah State to four second-half points and one field goal in the period on Jan. 7 to set the new NCAA records. North Carolina Central finished with 28 points, just two off the Big 12 and building record of 26 points by Bethune- Cookman in NCCU's nine field goals in the game also tied the Big 12 Conference opponent low. It was the second straight game at the Devaney Center that Nebraska completely dominated the defensive end. Against Savannah State on Dec. 11, the Huskers allowed just 37 points while holding SSU to just 26.4 percent shooting from the field. The Tigers had just 12 points at the half, tying the previous Big 12 record low for a period, as Nebraska allowed just 20 total points in the first period of the two consecutive games at the Devaney Center. In Ames, the Huskers set the Big 12 record for league games by holding ISU to just 11 points in the first period, surpassing the previous record of only 12 points by Texas Tech against Oklahoma in Nebraska matched the previous mark against the Sooners, holding OU to just 12 points in the opening period. + Forcing the Issue Nebraska's defensive pressure has forced teams into an average of 16.1 turnovers per game (419 through 26 games) this season. NU has forced at least 20 turnovers in a contest six times this season, including a season-high 26 against North Carolina Central. Against Iowa State on Feb. 2, NU forced 20 Cyclone turnovers. It was the second straight conference home game that NU forced at least 20 turnovers, as Baylor had 21 on Jan. 19, the most by a conference opponent since NU forced 26 against Texas Tech in Taking Care of Business Coach Doc Sadler stresses the importance of ball security and being smart with every pass. The Huskers have done a solid job of listening to Sadler's direction while taking care of the ball this season as they have averaged just 13.2 miscues per game (343 turnovers in 26 games). Nebraska had a season-low seven turnovers against then- No. 16 Oregon, including going the final 9:27 of regulation and all of overtime without a turnover. The Huskers also posted just seven turnovers in the non-conference finale against Maryland Eastern Shore. NU opened conference play by posting only 12 turnovers against the strong defensive pressure of the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks and had nine turnovers on the road against Colorado and 10 turnovers at Texas A&M. The Huskers had their most secure league game handling the ball against Oklahoma, when they committed just eight turnovers. Through 13 Big 12 games, NU is averaging just 12.8 turnovers per game in conference action. NU's season high for turnovers came on the road against Western Kentucky when the Huskers had 23 miscues. Nebraska also had 21 turnovers in its road opener at Creighton, including 17 in the first half. + Getting in Gear Nebraska struggled at times early in the season to get the offense in full gear, but cranked it up a notch over the last five games of the non-conference season. During that span, the Huskers averaged 80.8 points per game on 52.0 percent shooting in five straight victories. The Huskers had one of their most productive offensive games against Savannah State despite playing 14 players (everyone on the roster except five redshirts). All but two players scored in the contest with three earning career highs and one gaining a season high. Eleven Huskers scored at least five points apiece with junior forward Shang Ping leading the way with a game-high 11 points. Nebraska started the game on a 26-2 run and hit 60.0 percent from the floor in the opening half before finishing the game hitting half of its attempts (27-of-54). The 82 points were just one off the then-season high and tied for the thirdhighest scoring game in the coach Doc Sadler era. Nebraska came back to add 88 points in an overtime win over then-no. 16 Oregon and posted 71 points in a 43-point victory against North Carolina Central. Nebraska topped the 70-point mark for the fourth straight game with 77 points against Alcorn State and rounded out the non-conference slate with 86 points against Maryland Eastern Shore. The five-game streak scoring at least 70 points was the second-longest under second-year head coach Doc Sadler. Last year, NU had a seven-game streak, all in non-conference action. + Accurate Trio Climbing Chart Sophomore guard Jay-R Strowbridge received great praise from Coach Doc Sadler during the preseason as one of the most improved players on the team. Despite battling injuries that have set him back twice this season, Strowbridge has again proven to be one of the Huskers' top 3-point shooters. After setting a blistering pace as a rookie last season, Strowbridge has hit at a 39.6-percent clip from beyond the arc this season, knocking down 21-of-53 3-point attempts. While it is behind last year's average that ranks third in single-season history and first in the NU freshman record book (47.3 percent, 25-of-54), Strowbridge still ranks second on the career chart with a 42.9 percent (46-of-107) average. With 105 attempts in his career, Strowbridge now qualifies for the Nebraska career record where he is in second place behind Brian Conklin, who knocked down 43.2 percent (176-of-407) in his career. Strowbridge's career mark is ahead of NU's career 3-point leader Cary Cochran, who hit 268-of-630 attempts from long range. Along with Strowbridge, two other current Huskers are on pace to land on the list at the end of their careers. Sophomore Ryan Anderson is currently sixth all-time in 3-point percentage at Nebraska and is on pace to break onto the NU career 3-pointers made list early next year. 8 + Sadler Opens Second Season with Huskers After a whirl-wind first season that saw several solid performances despite fielding an undersized and oft-injured team, Coach Doc Sadler is back for his second year on the Husker sideline looking to return Nebraska to the postseason. Sadler, who owns a record as a Division I head coach, guided the Huskers to 17 wins last season, making him the third-winningest first-year coach in Nebraska history. NU also finished with a 6-10 record to tie for seventh in the Big 12 standings after earning a ranking of 10th or 11th in every preseason conference poll. With a year under their belts coaching in the Big 12 Conference, Sadler and his staff brought in a recruiting class that ranked among the top 25 in the nation by several media sources, including ESPN. com's Bob Gibbons (21st) and CSTV.com's Van Coleman (12th). The class is considered one of the deepest in Nebraska history, and is possibly the largest ever with eight scholarship newcomers. Sadler also has a strong staff helping him on the bench and on the recruiting trail. Overall, the Husker staff has combined for 85 years coaching on the sideline and helped 21 teams to Division I postseason appearances. Together the Husker staff has produced 31 NBA players and more than 670 career victories as head coaches. + Diverse Lineup Entering the year, Nebraska had 19 players on the roster and only two walk-ons Nick Krenk and Cole Salomon hailed from the Cornhusker State. The unique layout of the roster includes players from a total of 12 states and two foreign countries. Nebraska leads all Big 12 schools with four players from the state of California. In addition, NU has two players from the Pacific Northwest, two from Texas and three from the East Coast, making it possibly one of the most diverse teams in the country. Nebraska is also represented by two players from foreign countries. Senior Aleks Maric was born and raised in Australia but also has a great pride in his Serbian heritage. Junior Shang Ping is a native of Haerbin, China, and is believed to be one of only three Chinese players this season in Division I. In addition to Maric and Ping, sophomore Chris Balham grew up in France until the eighth grade when his family moved to the United States. + Newcomers Earn Praise While they still have a lot to prove on the floor, the newest group of Huskers were welcomed to Lincoln with impressive fanfare by the recruiting analysts. As a group, this year's recruiting class was ranked among the top 25 in the country by several top analysts, including No. 11 by Van Coleman (CSTV. com) and No. 21 by Bob Gibbons (ESPN.com). Clark Francis of HoopScoop had the Huskers as high as No. 5 among early signing classes. Individually, several new Huskers joined the program after all-star caliber careers in junior college and high school. Guard Steve Harley, a transfer from South Plains (Texas) College, was a two-time All-American, including earning first-team honors last year, and was ranked No. 4 in the country among guards by nbadraft.net. Shang Ping was ranked No. 8 at small forward by the same service. Alonzo Edwards was No. 18 among small forwards and in the top 125 overall by ESPN.com. + Returning to Form After averaging better than 18 points and nine rebounds a game as a junior, center Aleks Maric was one of the top returning players in the country entering the campaign. Between players from BCS conferences, Maric was third among returning scorers from last year, trailing only Chris Lofton of Tennessee (20.8 ppg) and Sean Singletary of Virginia (19.0 ppg). Maric was also sixth among returning BCS conference players in field-goal percentage and seventh in rebounding average. This season, Maric is averaging a team-best 15.9 points per game while Singletary has gained 18.9 points per contest for the Virginia Cavaliers. Lofton, a first-team preseason All-American, is averaging 15.1 points per contests for the Volunteers. and two steals against Arizona State, helping the Huskers go 2-0 against the Pac-10 this season. Anderson has been forced to become one of Nebraska's best rebounders, and has done a terrific job despite standing just 6-4. He has averaged 5.6 boards per game to rank second on the squad and 14th overall in the Big 12 conference. In league play, Anderson is averaging 5.8 rebounds per game to rank 15th. He posted his first career double-double and third career double-figure rebounding game with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a road win against Missouri this season and came back with 15 points and a career-high tying 11 rebounds against Missouri in Lincoln. Anderson had his best offensive game in league play against Texas Tech, posting 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting. He hit all three of his attempts from long range and added seven rebounds, two steals and an assist in 37 minutes. Anderson put up some of his best games against the top competition. In his career, Anderson has faced 10 ranked teams and averaged 12.2 points per contest (122 total points). As a true freshman last year as he averaged a team-best 15.8 points over four games in against ranked teams. Last year, Anderson was second on the team with 10.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, while ranking among the top 10 freshmen all-time at Nebraska in points scored, field goals, rebounds, 3-pointers and steals. Anderson was second on the squad with 48 3-pointers in , the second-highest total by a freshman in Nebraska history. He tied the NU single-game 3-point percentage record with a 5-for-5 effort from beyond the arc at Rutgers and equalled NU freshman record with seven treys against Hawaii. + Meet the Oklahoma State Cowboys The Huskers may be one of the hottest teams in the conference right now, but they will be meeting an equally red-hot squad in the Oklahoma State Cowboys. OSU has won four straight games and five of its last six matchups since starting league action with a 1-6 record including a six-game losing streak. In the recent surge, the Cowboys have won two games by a single point and a third game by just one basket (two points). A fourth win in the recent surge was decided by just five points. The Cowboys enter the game with a overall record and are tied with the Huskers with a 6-7 league mark. OSU is 12-2 at home with its only losses coming against Texas by two points, 63-61, and Texas A&M by three points, In its last home contest, Oklahoma State knocked off then-no. 4 Kansas, 61-60, for its third straight win at home. In the recent surge, Oklahoma State's upperclassmen have taken charge and pushed the Cowboys back into contention for an upper division league finish and a postseason berth. Junior guard Byron Eaton is averaging 11.4 points per game and is second in the league in steals (2.19 spg) and third in free throw percentage (83.0 percent). Junior guard Terrell Harris has added 10.6 points per contest and is eighth in the league in steals (1.52 spg) and tops the conference in free throw percentage (84.0). Senior forward Marcus Dove is also fifth in the league in steals (1.89 spg) while adding 9.6 points and a team-best 5.5 rebounds per game. A young core that includes freshmen James Anderson and Ibrahima Thomas and sophomore Obi Muonelo has aided the cause, with Anderson leading all scorers at 14.1 points per game (10th in the league), including pacing the squad with 59 3-pointers. Muonelo is second on the squad with 45 treys and is adding 9.7 points per game while Thomas has posted 5.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. As a team, the Cowboys have averaged 69.4 points per contest while allowing 66.4 points per game. OSU has hit 43.5 percent from the floor and allowed the same percentage but has been outstanding at the charity stripe, hitting 72.9 percent on the year. + Huskers Shut Down Sooners Behind another solid all-around performance, the Nebraska men s basketball team built a 17-point halftime lead and never looked back while posting its third conference victory in a row with a win over Oklahoma in front of more than 10,000 fans at the Devaney Center on Wednesday night. The win improved Nebraska to 17-9 on the year, including a 6-7 mark in the Big 12 Conference, good for a tie for sixth place in the conference standings. Oklahoma fell into the tie for sixth with the loss, falling to overall and 6-7 in league play. Nebraska placed four players in double figures, led by Aleks Maric, who recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds to post his eighth double-double in his last nine games. Steve Harley added 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while Ade Dagunduro scored 13 and Paul Velander poured in a season-high 11 points on a perfect shooting night. The Huskers were impressive again on both sides of the court in winning for the sixth time in nine games. NU shot 50 percent from the field, while holding Oklahoma to just 37 percent. Nebraska also turned the ball over just eight times, marking the Huskers best ball security in Big 12 play. NU also recorded 14 assists for the third consecutive game as Nebraska s plus-six assist-to-turnover margin was also its best in the conference season. Nebraska used a harassing defensive effort to overcome a slow shooting start en route to building a 17-point halftime advantage, its largest of the conference season. Oklahoma had stretches of 4:58 and 7:05 without a field goal while hitting just 5-of-19 shots in the first half. The Sooners' struggles started at the opening tip. OU turned the ball over on five of its first six possessions, but NU was only able to build a 2-0 lead as the Huskers missed six of their first seven shots. The Sooners first field goal tied the game at 2-all with 15:02 remaining in the half. After OU took its only lead at 5-4, Velander drilled a pair of 3-pointers to put NU on top Nebraska pushed the lead to on a tremendous follow up slam by Dagunduro and a driving bucket from Harley with 8:20 remaining. Neither team would score again for more than four minutes before a second Dagunduro dunk gave Nebraska a 10-point lead. Maric then threw home a slam of his own on the Huskers next possession to cap an 8-0 run that put Nebraska in front with 3:30 remaining in the half. Following a timeout, Oklahoma hit just its fifth basket of the half, ending a long drought of 7:05 without a field goal. Nebraska then scored the final seven points of the half to take a lead into the break. In the second half, Oklahoma used a quick 6-0 run to cut the lead to 13 early in the second half, but that was as close as the Sooners would get. A pair of 3-pointers from Velander and Dagunduro fueled an 11-3 Husker run that put Nebraska on top midway through the period. From there Nebraska led by at least 18 the rest of the way, outscoring Oklahoma in the second half. 9 Postgame notes vs. Oklahoma The Huskers improved to 17-9 on the season and 6-7 in the Big 12 Conference with their third consecutive Big 12 victory. Nebraska s win left the Huskers in a four-way tie for sixth place in the conference standings. Nebraska committed just eight turnovers on the night, NU s lowest total of the Big 12 season. NU s overall season low is seven turnovers twice. The Huskers also totaled 14 assists for the third consecutive game, while NU s plus-6 assist-to-turnover margin was also a high for Big 12 play. The Huskers 18-point victory marked Nebraska s largest margin of victory over a conference opponent since a 21-point victory over Colorado at the Devaney Center on Jan. 20, The 18-point win also marked Nebraska s largest victory over Oklahoma since a Husker victory on Feb. 28, Senior center Aleks Maric recorded his eighth doubledouble in the past nine games after posting 16 points and 11 rebounds against Oklahoma. Maric, who entered the game as the league leader in field-goal percentage, hit 5-of-6 shots from the floor and knocked down 6-of-7 free throw attempts. Junior guard Steve Harley recorded a game-high tying 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting. It was his eighth double-figure scoring game in league play and the fifth in the past six games. Junior guard Ade Dagunduro scored 13 points, his second-highest total in league action. Dagunduro added seven rebounds, including four offensive. The rebound total was his second-highest of the year and most in league action. Nebraska hit 50.0 percent (23-of-46) from the floor, marking its third straight game knocking down half of its shots from the field. Before the current streak, NU had not topped 50 percent in the first 10 league contests. Nebraska held Oklahoma to just 12 first-half points, the fourth time this season NU held a team to 12 or fewer points in a period. NU set the Big 12 record for league games by allowing just 11 points on the road against Iowa State two weeks ago. Junior guard Paul Velander found his shooting stroke, burying a pair of 3-pointers in the first eight minutes of the game before finishing with a season-high 11 points, topping his previous high mark of nine in non-conference action. He finished 3-of-3 from 3-point range and was 2-of-2 at the free throw stripe. Velander, who had scored just 18 points in Big 12 games this year, had been 5-of-19 in conference play, with one 3-pointer in the past eight games. + Single Digits Rarity? In what is typically an uncommon sight, the Huskers held Savannah State without a double-figure scorer on Dec. 11. Only two players scored more than five points on the night with Anthony Jones leading the way with eight points. While it may not be common, it was the second time this year and the second time in three home games the Huskers held every player on the opposing team to nine or fewer points. NU also turned the trick against Arizona State on Dec. 2, when three players each scored eight points to lead the team in a loss to Nebraska. Against North Carolina Central, the Huskers nearly made it three games without allowing a double-figure scorer as NCCU posted just 28 points in the contest, the secondfewest points NU has allowed since But Bryan Ayala's last basket gave him 11 points on the night to lead the Eagles. Only three other players scored for NCCU, one with seven points, one with six and one with four. + Maric Chart Watch With eight rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore, senior center Aleks Maric improved his career total to 789 boards to rank second all-time on the Nebraska career rebounding chart. The Sydney, Australia, native took sole possession of the runner-up spot, passing Leroy Chalk who had 782 in his career. Maric will trail only Nebraska record-holder Venson Hamilton, who posted an amazing 1,080 rebounds in his career. Maric, who currently has 937 career boards after picking up at least 11 boards in eight of his last nine games, also moved into the career top 10 for scoring at Nebraska. Entering the game at Kansas State, Maric had 1,403 career points to rank 11th all-time in Husker history. He scored 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting to move into the Nebraska career top 10, passing 1999 Big 12 Player of the Year Venson Hamilton who had 1,415 career points. Entering the season, Maric already ranked in the NU career top 10 for blocked shots, and currently he sits in seventh place with 133 after passing former teammate Wes Wilkinson (112). Maric is already in the Nebraska top five for free throws made (428, 3rd) and attempted (645, 2nd), field goals (547, 9th) and games started (92, 10th). + Holding at 80 Nebraska has allowed just three teams (four occasions) to top the 80-point plateau in the Coach Doc Sadler era. Kansas (84 points) and Missouri (86 points in overtime) have topped the mark this season while Kansas (92) and Hawaii (81) reached the plateau last year. The first three contests were on the road while Missouri became the first team to score 80 points against a Sadler-led squad in Lincoln. All four games ended with Husker losses. NU had gone 22 games without allowing a team to reach the 80-point plateau until Kansas scored 84 points against the Huskers in Lawrence earlier this season. Much of Nebraska's success this season has come as a result of a pesky defense that ranked 20th nationally in scoring defense entering the week and a field-goal percentage defense that was 27th nationally. + Scoring Droughts Nebraska has dominated games this season by holding opponents to lengthy scoring droughts. Among its best defensive starts to a game, Nebraska held North Carolina Central without a point for the first 5:00 of the game and allowed only one field goal in the opening 15:07 of the contest. NCCU went 10:07 between its first and second basket as NU ran to a 25-4 lead. That strong start is becoming a similar trend as the Huskers also ran out to a 26-2 lead to start the contest with Savannah State. NU allowed just six points in the first 18:22 of the game as SSU went 6:07 without scoring a point to open the contest and then after its first field goal, did not score another point for another 7:46. With FSN allowing ESPN FullCourt to pick up the satellite feed, the Huskers will have six contests added to the FullCourt schedule and available to subscribers throughout the country. The added exposure will give Nebraska at least nine nationally televised games this year. Among the games currently scheduled to be seen on FSN Midwest in the state of Nebraska and as a part of the FullCourt package are road contests at Colorado (Jan. 15), Missouri (Jan. 30), Kansas State (Feb. 6) and Texas (March 4). Nebraska s home games against Rutgers on Dec. 9 and Oregon on Dec. 15 (in Omaha) were also seen on ESPN's subscription service. NU s contest at Western Kentucky (Dec. 5) was seen only on FSN Midwest in the state of Nebraska due to channel capacity limitations on FullCourt. The Huskers regular-season finale at home against Colorado (March 9) will be seen on FSN Midwest along with ESPN360.com, but because of capacity limitations will not be seen on FullCourt. The Huskers have a contract this year for eight games to be seen throughout the state of Nebraska on a third-tier package on FSN Midwest. It is the fourth consecutive year Nebraska has signed a third-tier package through FSN. Greg Sharpe will again serve as the play-by-play man while Matt Davison is back to again provide color analysis. + Doc Sadler Radio Show The Doc Sadler radio show, a weekly statewide call-in show co-hosted with Lane Grindle, is in its second year on the Husker Sports Network. The Huskers' six straight wins to end the non-conference slate is the second-longest win streak by a Nebraska squad during the Big 12 era, matching the mark set by the and Nebraska squads. Only the squad has recorded seven straight wins, putting together six to end the regular season and one in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. Following an win over Maryland Eastern Shore, Nebraska's 11-2 record heading into conference play was also its best mark to open a season in the Big 12 era. The previous best occurred in when NU began the season with a 10-2 mark through 12 games, but failed to record a win in its 13th contest. The Huskers also had a 12-game home-court winning streak that came to an end with the first conference game against No. 3 Kansas Nebraska Men's Basketball 9

10 + Last-Second Shots The Huskers 45-point victory against Savannah State was the largest under Coach Doc Sadler at Nebraska, and also marked NU s most lopsided victory since defeating North Carolina A&T by 50 points in Nebraska held its first three opponents to 52, 45 and 48 points, respectively, the first time since the that all of NU s first three opponents failed to score more than 52 points. In the exhibition season, the Huskers opponents scored 50 and 51 points respectively. Nebraska has held 14 opponents to 60 or fewer points, and 18 to 65 or fewer points. The Huskers 88 points against Oregon in overtime were a season high, and the most scored by the Huskers in two years under Coach Doc Sadler. With 82 points against Savannah State in the previous game, Nebraska topped the 80-point plateau in consecutive games for just the second time under Sadler. Overall, the Huskers have topped 80 points four times this season and NU is a perfect 10-0 all-time under Sadler when scoring at least 80 points in a game. Maric has 45 blocked shots through 26 contests to rank second in the Big 12 Conference at 1.73 bpg and now has 133 in his career. He ranks seventh all-time at Nebraska, as he moved ahead of Wes Wilkinson (8th, 113) this season, and needs 11 blocks to tie Derrick Chandler for sixth place on the career chart. The loss at Creighton was Nebraska's 12th straight loss in a true road opener, including six losses at CU in that span. Nebraska lost its first four games away from the Devaney Center this season, dropping games at Creighton, Colorado and Kansas in league play, and at Western Kentucky in overtime. NU defeated Missouri in Columbia to snap a seven-game road losing streak dating to last season and added another road win over No. 22/22 Texas A&M. The Huskers are 4-6 overall against ranked teams under second-year coach Doc Sadler, including 3-3 this year. Nebraska's wins came against No. 16 Oregon, No. 24 Kansas State and No. 22 Texas A&M this year and No. 20 Creighton last season in Sadler s first regular-season game against a Division I opponent. The Huskers are 9-34 all-time against ranked non-conference teams, including 2-0 under Sadler. Nebraska's win over then-no. 16 Oregon was the first ever by the Huskers outside of Lincoln against a non-conference ranked team. Nebraska led at the half in every non-conference home game this season. The Huskers led by double figures in every non-conference home game this season, including leading by 13 points in NU's 'home' game at the Qwest Center in Omaha against then-no. 16 Oregon. NU is 1-2 in overtime games this season. The last time Nebraska had three overtime games in the same season was when the Huskers went 2-1. The Huskers are currently 12-7 in overtime games during the Big 12 era. Ryan Anderson scored 21 points, a season high, on 5-of-9 shooting, including hitting 3-of-5 from 3-point range against No. 16 Oregon. Anderson has a knack for scoring big against nationallyranked teams, as he has averaged 12.2 points per game (122 total points) in 10 games against ranked teams. NU posted a season-low seven turnovers against No. 16 Oregon. Only four players had turnovers overall, and only one had more than one miscue (point guard Cookie Miller with four). Nebraska did not have a turnover after the 9:27 mark of the second half. The Huskers equalled the mark with just seven turnovers against Maryland Eastern Shore. The Huskers recorded just nine turnovers at Colorado, their fewest in a league regular-season road game since 2004, when NU had nine miscues at Colorado. Overall, Nebraska has had nine or fewer turnovers in six games this season, including a Big 12-low of eight against Oklahoma at home. Five players are averaging at least 1.0 steal per game this season, including Aleks Maric who has a career-high 30 steals (1.2 spg) through 26 games. He had just 15 steals in 30 games last year. His current total is a single-season career best, surpassing his previous high of 25 steals as a sophomore. One of the top rebounders in Nebraska and Big 12 history, Maric is averaging 9.9 boards per game this season. He is on pace to become the first Husker to lead NU in rebounding for four consecutive seasons since complete rebounding statistics are available (1952) Nebraska Men's Basketball vs. Oklahoma). In what was expected to be its toughest non-conference matchup of season at the Devaney Center, Nebraska put on a defensive clinic against Arizona State. Nebraska allowed just one basket and only four points total over the final 11:26 of the opening period. After a 3-pointer at the 8:36 mark, ASU had just four more shots in the half and missed all of them while committing eight turnovers in the stretch. The Sun Devils then recorded one basket in the first 11:03 of the second period. That made it 12:48 between baskets (8:36 in first half to 15:48 in second half) and a stretch of 19:39 with only one made field goal and 14 total points (one 3-pointer and 11 free throws). The performance against ASU (12:48 between field goals) was the second-longest opponent scoring drought in the coach Doc Sadler era. Last year, the Huskers recorded 20 stretches of at least 5:00 off the clock without allowing a field goal, including a season-high 14:28 for Houston between baskets in the second half. + Going 80 Nebraska topped the 80-point plateau in consecutive games against Oregon and Savannah State, and four times total this season. Nebraska reached at least 80 points in back-to-back contests only one time last year, when NU posted three straight games over 80 points to end the non-conference season. Overall, NU had six 80-point games last year. The Huskers are now 10-0 when scoring at least 80 points under second-year coach Doc Sadler. Eight of the 10 highest scoring games under Sadler have come at the Devaney Center. The only times Nebraska has topped the 80-point plateau away from Lincoln was in an victory over Miami on a neutral court last year and the overtime win over then-no. 16 Oregon in Omaha this year, which is Nebraska's highest-scoring game under Sadler. + Redshirt Decisions Made Coach Doc Sadler announced on Saturday, Nov. 17, that two newcomers had made the decision to redshirt this season to better acclimate to Division I play. Sadler said that sophomore transfer Alex Chapman and freshman Brandon Richardson will redshirt this season. After taking a while longer to decide, Sadler said on Dec. 2 that freshmen Alonzo Edwards and Toney McCray, who have dressed for every game this season, also decided to redshirt, giving NU a solid core for the future. Sadler has said the main reason for redshirting the newcomers was to build the overall program, giving Nebraska a chance to compete for a high finish in the league once players have consistently been in the program for four and/or five years. If they were to play this year, Sadler has said its is likely two of the newcomers would be in NU's top seven rotation. Also redshirting is freshman walk-on Mike Diacos. + Making History Coach Doc Sadler is quickly making a name for himself at Nebraska. Last season, he was the third-winningest first-year coach in program history by helping the Huskers to 17 victories. This year, Sadler became one of only two coaches in program history to win at least three straight games to open the season in each of his first two years on the Husker bench. He joined E.O. 'Jumbo' Stiehm who opened and with five victories each year. Sadler already owns 34 victories as Nebraska's head coach and is 12th overall in victories at Nebraska (among 26 all-time NU head coaches). A quick look at Nebraska's head coaches and their win totals through their first two years in Lincoln puts Sadler in a tie for second place all-time alongside Danny Nee, who set the NU career coaching record with 254 wins in 14 seasons. A second-team all-league selection following last season, Maric was named an Athlon Sports magazine third-team preseason All-American this fall and was a member of the preseason All-Big 12 team selected by the coaches. If he picks up All-America honors, Maric would become just the ninth Husker ever to earn postseason All-America honors and the first since Carl McPipe in In addition to the preseason honors, Maric was among 50 players named to the initial watch lists for two prestigious player-of-the-year honors, the Wooden Award and the Naismith Trophy. + Slowing the Scoring Nebraska has been solid on defense this season and has allowed a Big 12-low 59.7 points per game on 39.7 percent shooting over 26 contests. NU has held seven opponents to 50 or fewer points this year, after holding just two opponents to under 50 points including a Division II school all of last season. Through the NCAA reporting period on Feb. 25, the Huskers ranked 20th in scoring defense and 27th nationally in field-goal percentage defense. The most high-profile teams Nebraska has held under 50 points this season were Arizona State and Oklahoma. The Pac-10 opponent recorded just 21 points in the first period and 26 in the second. In fact, NU turned up the defensive pressure enough that the Sun Devils had just 31 points with 6:40 to play in the contest. Against Oklahoma, Nebraska kept the Sooners off the scoreboard for the first 4:58 of the game and held them scoreless for a 7:05 stretch in the first half. 18 Nebraska Game-by-Game Notebook (Games 1-14) GAME 1 vs. Presbyterian (NU 67, PU 52) in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska shot 61.0 percent from the floor, winning its seventh straight season opener. The Huskers hit 69.6 percent (16-of-23) from the field in the first half of the regular season. Senior center Aleks Maric opened his final season with a strong performance, posting a team-high 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting with four blocked shots. GAME 2 vs. Alabama A&M (NU 59, A&M 45) in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers held Alabama A&M to 27.6 percent shooting while senior center Aleks Maric dominated the paint, posting 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting while grabbing 16 rebounds with four blocked shots and four steals. Maric collected 10 offensive rebounds and knocked down 7-of-10 from the free throw line. Cookie Miller had five steals as NU posted 14 steals as a team. GAME 3 vs. Norfolk State (NU 83, NSU 48) in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska needed a 14-2 run that spanned the first and second halves to pull away from a Spartan squad that hit just 26.8 percent from the field on the game. The Huskers were led by Shang Ping, who came off the bench for 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting while Ryan Anderson added 12 points with a team-best eight rebounds. NU got 43 points from its bench, including 31 in the second half. GAME 4 at Creighton (CU 74, NU 62) in Omaha, Neb. The Huskers struggled in their first road game of the season, committing 24 turnovers, including 17 in the first half. Nebraska was led by Cookie Miller, who had 11 points after the intermission and a game-high 19 overall while Steve Harley came off the bench to record all 14 of his points in the second half as NU outscored the Blue Jays in the second period. GAME 5 vs. IPFW (NU 79, IPFW 62) in Lincoln, Neb. Aleks Maric hit 13-of-18 shots from the field for 30 points while leading Nebraska to its fourth win of the season. It was Maric's fifth 30-point game of his career, and he nearly added a double-double with nine rebounds. The Huskers hit 9-of-18 from 3-point range and added 23 assists on 32 field goals, hitting 56.1 percent from the floor. Ade Dagunduro added 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting with three steals. GAME 6 vs. Arizona State (NU 62, ASU 47) in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska received a balanced offensive effort but it was the stellar defense that helped the Huskers smother Arizona State, 62-47, in the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series. Dagunduro was a spark for the Huskers on both ends of the court as he posted a game-high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor. The Sun Devils made just one field-goal attempt in the first 10:55 of the second period as the Huskers used a 24-6 run to open a lead. ASU did not have player score in double figures. GAME 7 at Western Kentucky (WKU 69, NU 62 in OT) in Bowling Green, Ky. Free throws and turnovers were the story of a frustrating night for the Huskers who NU hit a respectable 19-of-28 from the charity stripe but committed 23 turnovers while posting just 12 assists. After trailing by five at the half, NU hit better than 52 percent from the field in the second period and had a chance to win it in regulation but was unable to get a final shot off. WKU then hit 9-of-10 free throws in the extra session while NU missed six of seven shots from the field in overtime. GAME 8 vs. Rutgers (NU 63, NU 51) in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska used a 24-4 run before and after the intermission to cruise past Rutgers. Aleks Maric led the Huskers with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Ryan Anderson tied his season high with 14 and Ade Dagunduro poured in 13. Corey Chandler led Rutgers with a career-high 25 points. NU limited Rutgers to 35.1 percent from the field, including just 24.1 percent in the first half as the Huskers closed the first half on a 15-2 run. GAME 9 vs. Savannah State (NU 82, SSU 37) in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers raced to a halftime lead en route to an win. The margin of victory was the largest during the Doc Sadler era. NU held the Tigers scoreless through the first 6 minutes and seven seconds, while opening up a commanding 13-2 lead. The Tigers missed their first 10 shots from the field and finished the game 14-of-53 (26.4 percent). Junior forward Shang Ping led a dozen Huskers in scoring with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. The Haerbin, China native was one of five Huskers to score in Nebraska s 13-0 start. GAME 10 vs. No. 16 Oregon (NU 88, UO 79 in OT) in Omaha, Neb. The Huskers upset then-no. 16 Oregon in an overtime thriller in front of 12,109 fans at Qwest Center Omaha, Nebraska's second win over a top-20 team during the Coach Doc Sadler era and the first Nebraska win over a ranked non-conference opponent outside of Lincoln in school history. After giving up a three-point lead in the final seconds of regulation, Nebraska showed no signs of letdown, as Ryan Anderson scored seven of his season-high 21 points in overtime. Anderson nailed his third 3-pointer of the day on NU s first overtime possession and the Huskers held the Ducks without a field goal for over four minutes in overtime. Aleks Maric led four Huskers in double figures with 23 points on 9-for-14 shooting. GAME 11 vs. N.C. Central (NU 71, NCCU 28) in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska set a Big 12 record by allowing just eight points in the first half as the Huskers cruised to a 43-point victory. North Carolina Central scored just one field goal in the first 14:46 of the game and had a Big 12 Conferencerecord low two field goals in the first half and nine in the game. The two field goals also tied the NCAA record low for during the shot-clock era. NCCU's 19.6 field-goal percentage was a new Devaney Center record low as the Eagles posted 26 turnovers. Nebraska posted 20 turnovers but hit nearly 58 percent from the floor. GAME 12 vs. Alcorn State (NU 77, ASU 53) in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers rode a solid defensive effort in the first half and strong shooting effort in the second half to a win over Alcorn State. Ade Dagunduro led the Huskers with 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting, along with six rebounds and three assists. Cookie Miller had 10 assists against no turnovers, becoming just the ninth NU player and the first freshman since at least to notch doubledigit assists. The Huskers opened the second half hitting 12 of their first 16 attempts from the field en route to shooting a solid 60 percent. GAME 13 vs. Md. Eastern Shore (NU 86, UMES 50) in Lincoln, Neb. Behind a game-high 22 points from senior Aleks Maric, Nebraska extended its winning streak to six games and began 2008 on a strong note with a victory over Maryland Eastern Shore. Maric posted a 22-point, eight-rebound performance, helping the Huskers improve to 11-2 on the season and win their 24th straight non-conference home game. The Huskers finished the game shooting 56.9 percent (33-of-58) from the field, including 62.5 percent in the second half. Following an Ade Dagunduro miss to open the second period, Nebraska had a stretch of 13 consecutive made shots on its way to building a 45-point lead (75-30) on a Paul Velander's 3-pointer with 8:53 remaining. GAME 14 vs. No. 3 Kansas (KU 79, NU 58) in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska quickly fell behind 7-0 to start the game and watched KU run to a double-figure lead midway through the first period. Nebraska closed within three points with eight minutes left in the first half, but the talented Jayhawks had too much firepower as they pulled away to hand Nebraska its 10th loss in a league opener in the 12 years of Big 12 Conference play. Aleks Maric led the Huskers with 19 points, tying KU's Brandon Rush for game-high honors. Maric hit 7-of-12 attempts from the floor while Ryan Anderson added 12 points as the Huskers' only other double-figure scorer. 19 Nebraska Game-by-Game Notebook (Games 15-25) GAME 15 at Colorado (CU 55, NU 51) in Boulder, Colo. Freshman point guard Cookie Miller made a strong attempt to bring the Huskers' back from a second-half deficit, but Colorado held on for a four-point win in Boulder. Miller hit four 3-pointers and led the team in scoring for the second time in three road contests this season. Nebraska had just nine turnovers in the contest but hit just 34 percent from the floor. Aleks Maric added 14 points and nine rebounds while CU countered with 13 points from Corey Higgins and 12 from Richard Roby, including a basket with less than 20 seconds remaining that sealed the victory. GAME 16 vs. Baylor (BU 72, NU 70) in Lincoln, Neb. Junior college transfer Steve Harley had his best offensive game in a month as he posted 15 points off the bench, and Aleks Maric had 21 points and nine rebounds but Baylor escaped with a two-point victory for its first win in the Devaney Center in eight tries. The Bears went ahead by four points with less than two minutes remaining and looked to have the game in hand before a turnover with 11 seconds left following Cookie Miller's two free throws gave Nebraska one last chance. The Huskers were called for a disputed traveling call that gave the ball back to BU, sealing the Bears' first league road win in 26 games over the past two years. GAME 17 at No. 2 Kansas (KU 84, NU 49) in Lawrence, Kan. The Huskers dropped their fourth straight league game to open the season, matching the worst start in conference play since when NU went 0-5 to begin Big Eight Conference action. Nebraska, which was facing a top-5 Kansas team for the second time in four games, trailed by a margin at the intermission but played within six points of the talented Jayhawks in the second half. Steve Harley came up big for the second straight game, scoring a team-high 16 points to pace the Huskers, who had lost by 53 points in Lawrence a year before, the second-worst losing margin in school history. GAME 18 at Missouri (NU 66, MU 62) in Columbia, Mo. Nebraska became the last team to win a Big 12 Conference game this season as it snapped a four-game skid with a victory over a depleted Missouri squad in Columbia, Mo. It was the first road win in five tries this season for the Huskers, who avoided tying their worst start in league play since the squad went 0-5 to open conference action. Aleks Maric and Ryan Anderson each recorded a double-double and Steve Harley posted a team-high 15 points with five rebounds. Sek Henry came off the bench to score 14 points, including hitting four first-half 3-pointers, for his first career double-figure scoring game in a conference contest. GAME 19 vs. Iowa State (NU 64, ISU 56) in Lincoln, Neb. The Cornhuskers made it two straight victories and picked up their first home win in league action as it pulled out an eight-point win over Iowa State, which was playing without its leading scorer Wesley Johnson. Nebraska hit 42 percent from the floor but forced the Cyclones into 20 turnovers while holding ISU to just 26.1 percent from 3-point range. Aleks Maric posted his second straight double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds while Ryan Anderson added 11 points and Ade Dagunduro had 10 points. Sek Henry came off the bench for his second straight impressive performance, collecting 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting. NU ended a three-game slide against ISU in Lincoln. GAME 20 at No. 20/24 Kansas State (KSU 73, NU 59) in Manhattan, Kan. Kansas State star freshman Michael Beasley had 10 points in an 81-second span early in the first half and finished with 35 points and 13 rebounds as the Wildcats held off a late Husker comeback attempt. Nebraska trailed by 18 points just before halftime but cut the deficit to only five points on three occasions in the final seven minutes of the game. Aleks Maric again came up big with 16 points and 15 rebounds while Cookie Miller had 14 points and eight assists. Ade Dagunduro added 14 points and five rebounds while Sek Henry again ignited the bench as he poured in 1- points on 4-of-8 shooting. GAME 21 vs. Texas Tech (NU 73, TTU 62) in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska came out with one of its strongest opening periods in Big 12 play, running to a advantage before posting a win over visiting Texas Tech. Four Huskers scored in double figures, including senior center Aleks Maric, who recorded his fourth straight double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds while adding three blocks, two assists and a steal in 38 minutes. Sophomore guard Ryan Anderson had one of the most proficient nights in Nebraska history, hitting 8-of-9 shots from the floor, including all three attempts from beyond the arc, to score 19 points while adding seven boards. GAME 23 at Iowa State (ISU 60, NU 52) in Ames, Iowa Nebraska set a Big 12 record by allowing Iowa State to score just 11 points in the first half, but the Cyclones heated up in the second to outlast the Huskers, 60-52, in Ames. Celebrating 100 years of Cyclone basketball, ISU scoring an opponent second-half high 49 points after the intermission, quickly erasing a halftime deficit and taking a lead with more than 12 minutes to play. The Huskers battled back behind Aleks Maric's sixth straight double-double and 14 points from freshman point guard Cookie Miller, but the Cyclones held on to split the season series. Aleks Maric added his seventh straight double-double with 15 points and a season-high 17 rebounds, helping NU outrebound the Wildcats, who came into the game ranked third nationally in rebounding margin at GAME 25 at No. 22/22 Texas A&M (NU 65, A&M 59) in College Station, Texas Nebraska hit a high of 59.0 percent from the floor in league play and withstood a late Aggie surge to post a road victory, NU's first road win against a ranked league squad since It was also the second straight victory over a ranked league team, also a first in nine years. Aleks Maric saw his doubledouble streak come to an end against the tall Aggie front line that includes six players 6-8 or taller. Maric finished with 10 points and five rebounds while Sek Henry and Steve Harley led Nebraska with 11 points each. Six of Henry's points came on a pair of 3-pointers in the final six minutes after Henry took over the point for Cookie Miller, who left the game with a severley sprained shoulder. Henry's first trey tied the game at 53-all to end a 7-0 Aggie run immediately following Miller's injury.
