The Huskers, who are in the middle of a four-game stretch that includes three conference road tilts, will put a 9-1 home record on the line when the teams face off at a packed Devaney Center. As of late last week, nearly 12,000 tickets had been distributed for the game and a sellout is possible. The building was also sold out in NU's victory over then-no. 20/25 Creighton on Nov. 18. Fans are encouraged to wear red as part of a 'Red Out' on Monday. The game tips off at 8 p.m. and will be NU's third nationally televised game this year as it will be seen around the country on ESPN as part of its Big Monday series. Ron Franklin (play by play), Fran Fraschilla (color) and Holly Rowe (sideline) will call the action. The contest will be Nebraska's first on Big Monday since 2000 when the Huskers lost to No. 20 Oklahoma, 62-54, at home. The contest can also be heard on the radio throughout Nebraska on the 25-station Husker Sports Network, as well as on the Internet at Huskers.com. Those schools, however, count the games as exhibitions and the loss to NU is not reflected in their season records. 2 >>>Back in Action The Huskers get back in action following a short turnaround from their trip to Manhattan, Kan., on Saturday where they fell, 61-45, to the Kansas State Wildcats. NU's defensive effort was solid as the Huskers held Kansas State to an opponent season-low 32.6 percent shooting, including allowing just one field goal over the final 9:49 of the second half. KSU recorded only five field goals in the second half the fewest NU has allowed in one half in a conference road game since Kansas State recorded four in the second half in 2006 and an opponent season-low 14 field goals on the afternoon. On the offensive end, the Huskers hit some shots early and surged to a seven-point lead in the opening minutes of the game but then struggled the rest of the way as they hit 36.7 percent, including 4-of-20 (20.0 percent) from 3- point range. It was also NU's fewest points in a conference game since losing at KSU in The Huskers have a tall task to get back on the winning track against a highly talented Kansas squad. KU has won 12 of its last 13 contests and is 18-3 overall this season. The Jayhawks are the highest-ranked team to come to the Devaney Center since Oklahoma State came in ranked No. 4 in the nation in That game also marks the last time the Huskers defeated a top-10 squad, as NU pulled out a victory over the Cowboys. Overall, the Huskers have won three straight home games against nationally ranked teams, including one this year. In the past two seasons, Nebraska is 3-2 against ranked squads, although only one of those contests a road loss at No. 6 Texas last year was against a top-10 team. For Nebraska to snap its two-game losing streak with an upset of the Jayhawks, the Huskers will have to get back to basics, including getting the ball in the paint to Aleks Maric. The junior center from Sydney, Australia, leads the league in field-goal percentage (61.9 percent) and is ranked among the top six in the league in points (17.6) and rebounds (7.9) per game. The top returning big man in the conference, Maric led the Big 12 in double-doubles in conference-only games last year. This season he has one double-double against league teams, but just missed his second straight on Saturday as he had 10 points and nine rebounds at KSU. Along with Maric, the Huskers will try to find their hot shooting touch from outside again. 3 >>>Save the Date The game between Nebraska and Oklahoma State originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 13, was postponed because of winter weather conditions in Oklahoma that prevented the Cowboys from leaving Oklahoma City on Friday or Saturday. It was the first weather-related postponement of a basketball game since the formation of the Big 12 Conference. On Tuesday, Jan. 16, the Big 12 Conference, in conjunction with Nebraska and Oklahoma State, announced that the makeup date would be Monday, March 5 at 7 p.m. The contest will be the last Big 12 regular-season game this season, as both teams will then travel to Oklahoma City for the Big 12 Championship on March The placement of the game will give Nebraska three games in six days to end the regular season, including home contests against Iowa State (Feb. 28) and Oklahoma State with a meeting at Colorado (March 3) in between. >>>Following Up Kansas State Nebraska held Kansas State to an opponent season low 14 field goals and 32.6 percent shooting from the field. NU has also been effective on the defensive end as opponents have hit just 39.2 percent while only one team has recorded more than 62 points. 4 The Last Time Out (at Kansas State) Manhattan, Kan. --- Kansas State held Nebraska to 36.7 percent from the field and NU's hot shooting from long distance cooled off as the Wildcats picked up a victory Saturday afternoon at Bramlage Coliseum. Nebraska hit just 30.4 percent in the first half while recording a season-low point total for any period. The Huskers' defensive effort was solid as they held KSU to just 14-of-43 shooting for 32.6 percent. The Huskers came out strong and continued their solid 3-point shooting in the early going. Marcus Perry and Ryan Anderson knocked down treys and Charles Richardson Jr. hit a long basket to help Nebraska run to a quick 8-3 lead. After being limited to one basket in more than six minutes to open the game, the Wildcats quickly rallied to pull within two, 10-8, on Blake Young's 3-pointer with 12:53 to play before Perry answered for the Huskers. NU's top long-range threat this year, Perry knocked down his second trey in the opening minutes to extend Nebraska's lead to 13-8 with just over 12 minutes left before intermission. The lead would last until Kansas State pulled even with 8:12 to play following a pair of Cartier Martin free throws off an indirect technical. Martin scored six straight for the Wildcats before Clent Stewart hit the second of two free throws to give KSU a lead at the 7:53 mark. Both the Huskers and Wildcats then turned up the defensive pressure the rest of the half. KSU went nearly six more minutes without a basket until Lance Harris' putback off his own miss gave the Wildcats a lead with 3:39 to play. Harris added a free throw for a three-point play and the Huskers went another minute before getting back on the board. NU's scoring drought lasted 7:40 until Jamel White hit a free throw at the 3:13 mark and Richardson's basket with 1:27 remaining in the period was the Huskers' first since Perry hit his second trey, a stretch of 10:40. By the time the Huskers got back on the board, Lance Harris heated up from long range as he hit a pair of long shots to push the Wildcats to a lead. Harris' baskets gave KSU three buckets in the final 9:20 of the first half. Nebraska got back in the game quickly in the second half behind an 8-2 run keyed by three baskets from Aleks Maric. The junior center was held scoreless in the first period as he missed all four of his shots, but came up strong in the opening three minutes of the second period before picking up his third foul. Maric, the league leader in field-goal percentage, finished the game hitting 4-of-12 shots for 10 points, while grabbing nine rebounds. With a lead, Kansas State's Blake Young and Clent Stewart added 3-pointers and helped push the lead to five, 35-30, before Sek Henry made a tough driving layup on the baseline to pull NU back within three. Richardson moved into the NU career top 10 for assists (328) against Texas and with 110 this year, he needs 25 more to move onto the single-season chart. Richardson moved into 10th place on the NU senior class chart with two assists at Kansas State on Saturday. Richardson also is within reach of the Husker top 10 chart for career steals (needs 20), single-season steals (needs 22) and steals by a senior (needs five). With a strong run at the league championship or in the postseason, Richardson, who is averaging 34.9 minutes per game, could also challenge for the most minutes played in a season by a Husker. Behind Richardson's solid hand setting the offense, the Huskers are on pace to set the school record for 3-point percentage and to post the Huskers' best team field-goal percentage since the start of the 3-point era. >>>Nearing the Plateau Junior center Aleks Maric has been the Huskers' most consistent scoring threat this season as he has been the focal point of the offense. Entering the game with Kansas State, Maric leads the team with 17.6 points per game, an average that ranks fifth in the Big 12 Conference. Maric has 316 points this season and now ranks 36th in NU history with 871 career points. He needs eight points to move into 35th, where he will pass Bruce Chubick who scored 878 points between 1991 and At his current pace, Maric would finish with the highest scoring average by a Husker since Tyronn Lue had 21.2 points per game in 1998 before becoming an early entry into the NBA Draft. Maric's current pace would also push his career total over 1,000 points, where he would become the 24th member of the elite club and the first Husker since Cary Cochran in 2002 to reach the mark. Richardson is looking for his third postseason appearance after leading Nebraska to NIT bids following his freshman and junior campaigns. To his credit, Richardson has held up well after averaging minutes per game this season, a mark that ranks third in the Big 12 conference. Only Jarrius Jackson (36.67) of Texas Tech and JamesOn Curry (36.05) of Oklahoma State have averaged more minutes per game this season among league foes. Richardson who has played all 40 minutes of a game four times this season, most recently against Texas is on pace to average more minutes per game in a season than any Husker since Tyronn Lue in 1997 and 1998 when he averaged 35.9 minutes per game. The Huskers ranked 33rd nationally in free throw percentage last week and have improved their average to 72.5 percent from the charity stripe. NU connected on a season high by nailing all 12 shots from the free throw line against Oklahoma, and hit 36-of-43 attempts (56.6 percent) over three games against OU, Colorado and Texas to rank first in the Big 12 in league play. Nebraska's current pace would rank eighth in the NU record book and is on track to be the highest since 1994 when the Huskers finished ninth nationally by hitting 74.5 percent from the line. Only once since then (2004) have the Huskers hit better than 70 percent at the stripe. Nebraska's strong shooting touch has also reached record heights from long range as the Huskers are on pace to rewrite the school record for 3-point field-goal percentage. Despite having its worst shooting night of the year from long distance against KSU (4-of-20, 20. percent), Nebraska is currently hitting at a 38.9-percent clip, which currently stands as the school record as the 2004 team also hit 38.9 percent. >>>Getting Defensive Coach Doc Sadler took over the Husker program after gaining a reputation as a strong defensive coach at Texas- El Paso. The Miners finished last season ranked 15th nationally by allowing just 59.5 points per game, including setting a Conference USA season record by giving up just

That defensive effort has carried over to Lincoln as the Huskers have held 12 of 19 opponents to 62 or fewer points in their first year under Sadler. >>>Picking Up The Huskers have also seen a rise on the offensive end under Sadler as well. Nebraska has averaged 69.7 points per game this season, including topping the 70- point plateau 13 times in 19 games. Last year, Nebraska finished but topped the 70-point barrier in just 11 games. Nebraska has averaged at least 70 points per game for a season only twice in the last eight years. Nebraska had a streak of seven straight games scoring at least 70 points snapped against Iowa State, its longest streak since NU had a pair of seven-game streaks in The Huskers have not had an eight-game streak of scoring at least 70 points per game since the first 11 games of the season. >>>Know the Huskers The Nebraska roster went through a makeover at the beginning of the second semester as a pair of players announced they were leaving the team while another player was added. On Dec. 27, true freshman forward Kris Douse announced his decision to transfer and left the squad before the trip to Miami. Then on Jan. 7, sophomore forward Jim Ledsome, a native of Severna Park, Md., announced he was transferring to Delaware to be closer to his family and concentrate more on academics while still playing Division I basketball. The Huskers also made an addition to the roster as 6-8, 265-pound forward Jeremy Barr enrolled at Nebraska and joined the basketball team. Barr, who played last season at USC and was a top-125 recruit out of Houston's Westbury Christian High School, began practicing with the Huskers on Jan. 8 (the first day of second semester classes). He will be eligible following the completion of the 2007 fall semester and will have five semesters of eligibility remaining. >>>Digging the Long Ball A pair of Husker guards have had impressive nights, scoring career highs while scorching the net from long range late in the non-conference slate. Freshman Ryan Anderson was the first as he scored 29 points against Hawaii. Hitting primarily from long range, the rookie hit seven 3-pointers on a school-record tying 13 attempts. Anderson's 3-point total was the secondhighest single-game effort in school history and tied the NU freshman record. He is the first true freshman to ever record seven 3-pointers in a game (Cary Cochran was a redshirt freshman in ). Senior Marcus Perry matched Anderson's effort with seven 3-pointers of his own against Miami. Perry scored a career-best 25 points, 12 more than his previous scoring high, and led Nebraska to a season-best 15 3-pointers on 33 attempts. Anderson has already had at least five treys in a game twice this season, including a 5-of-5 effort at Rutgers that tied the NU single-game mark for 3-point percentage (minimum of five attempts). >>>New Day, New Lineup After opening with the same lineup for the first six games of the season, the Huskers put a different starting five on the floor for six straight games starting with the Oregon contest. During that six-game span, the Huskers earned a 4-2 record with the setbacks at Oregon and Hawaii. NU went 3-2 away from home during the stretch which saw eight players make starts, including three true freshmen. The Huskers then started the same lineup for three straight games (Miami, Savannah State and Western Kentucky) but that changed in the Big 12 opener against Iowa State. NU had four different lineups in its first four conference games before sticking with the same lineup for consecutive games against Texas and Kansas State. Overall, NU has had nine starting lineups this year. >>>3s All Around Nebraska knocked down the long ball with amazing frequency throughout the early season schedule and into conference play as the Huskers ranked 24th nationally in 3-point percentage entering last week. NU, which hit a season-low 20.0 percent Saturday against Kansas State, has hit 38.9 percent from long range this year. NU's best game from beyond the arc came against Rutgers, when the Huskers hit a season-high 64.7 percent. Nebraska hit 11 treys on 17 attempts, and connected on its highest percentage in a game since hitting 66.7 percent (10-of-15) against Pacific in Nebraska's accuracy reached a pinnacle in the second half against RU when NU hit 8-of-11 3-point attempts (72.7 percent). Freshman Ryan Anderson tied the school record for 3-point field-goal percentage (minimum five 3-point attempts) at Rutgers as he hit 5-of-5 from beyond the 3-point line. Anderson also posted the second-highest single-game effort in school history with seven 3-pointers Road Warriors The Nebraska basketball team easily took on the title of 'Road Warriors' during the month of December. After opening the regular season with five straight home games, the Huskers hit the road for six of seven contests in December, with only one home game at the Devaney Center between Nov. 29 and Jan. 3. The trek began with a trip to New Jersey, where NU suffered a setback to Rutgers on Dec. 2. Nebraska followed with a trip to Portland, Ore., that ended in a loss to the Oregon Ducks on Dec. 9 at the Rose Garden. Following a home victory against Alabama A&M on Dec. 17, the Huskers headed to Hawaii where they won 2-of-3 games in the Outrigger Rainbow Classic (Dec ) before returning home for Christmas break. Nebraska ended the month with a road trip to the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise, Fla., where it defeated the Miami Hurricanes. All told, the Huskers traveled at least 15,400 miles during the month, according to the Indo.com web site which tracks distances between cities "as the crow flies." Last year, Nebraska played 10 of its first 11 games of the year at home with the lone road game coming just 60 minutes up I-80 at the Qwest Center Omaha against Creighton. NU's first outof-state road game last year came on Dec. 31, when the Huskers fell to Florida State in Miami at the Orange Bowl Classic. Nebraska's most recent long stretch of road games was in , when the Huskers played five straight road games. NU played Miami in the Orange Bowl Classic before winning three straight games and the tourney title at the San Juan Shootout, and then ended the road stretch with a contest at Minnesota. The last time Nebraska played at least six road contests in a seven-game span was , when the Huskers played seven straight games away from Lincoln. That stretch started with true road games at Creighton and Minnesota before playing three games at the Rainbow Classic, NU's last appearance in the tournament. NU finished the road trek with games at Kansas and Oklahoma State to open Big 12 Conference play. Testing the Water Doc Sadler was the biggest addition to the Nebraska program this summer, but the largest returnee on the floor for the Huskers literally and figuratively was junior center Aleks Maric. The 6-11, 270-pound Maric entered his name into the NBA Draft on April 28, After testing the waters, Maric withdrew his name before the deadline and, since he did not hire an agent, was able to return to the Huskers for the campaign. However, Maric wasn't initially convinced that he would return to Lincoln following Barry Collier's resignation as head coach in August. To help Maric make up his mind, Doc Sadler got on a plane to Australia less than 48 hours following his appointment as head coach and spent a few days with Maric and his family so they could get to know each other. The following week Maric announced he would return to Lincoln in time for the start of fall classes. Maric was the first Husker underclassman to declare early for the draft since Tyronn Lue announced his decision to forgo his senior season in Lue remained in the draft and was a first-round selection of the Denver Nuggets. He is still in the NBA playing for the Atlanta Hawks, one of three former Huskers currently in the league. Maric was one of eight underclassmen from the Big 12 to declare early for the draft, a high for any conference. Six of the players remained in the draft, with Maric and Colorado's all-league guard Richard Roby being the only two to pull out. Of the six who stayed in the draft, four were selected in the first two rounds. 5

In each contest the Huskers held their opponent without a field goal for at least 6:50 on the clock. The longest defensive stand came against the Houston Cougars in the third-place game of the Rainbow Classic. UH hit its first five shots and seven of its first eight 3-point attempts, but NU clamped down near the end of the first half and put on a defensive show in the second period. Houston was held to two baskets over the final 4:49 of the first period and then Nebraska allowed just one bucket in the first 16:08 of the second half. The Cougars first basket of the second period came at the 18:22 mark and NU did not allow another basket until the 3:54 mark, a span of 14:28 between baskets, likely one of the longest streaks in school history. Against Miami, the Huskers broke open the game on the way to a 15-point victory by holding UM without a field goal for 7:28 in the middle of the second half. Carr had eight double-figure assist games in , five in and two in >>>Getting the Job Done Nebraska's strong shooting performances this season can be attributed in part to better shot selection, but another big reason is the presence center Aleks Maric has made in the paint. A junior from Sydney, Australia, Maric ranks fifth in the conference with 17.6 points per game this season, including seven 20-point contests. Despite drawing constant double teams, Maric has dominated the paint and leads the Big 12 Conference by hitting 61.9 percent (120-of-194), one of two players in the Big 12 shooting at least 60 percent from the floor this season. Maric also ranked ninth nationally in field-goal percentage last week. In the season opener just 11 days after he had his appendix removed Maric scored 29 points in 29 minutes against Nebraska-Omaha. Three times this season Maric has scored as many points as he played minutes, Huskers Grab Seven in Early Signing Period Lincoln --- Seven players signed National Letters-of-Intent in the fall signing period and will join the Nebraska men s basketball team for the campaign, first-year head coach Doc Sadler announced on Nov. 15. Sadler s first recruiting class at Nebraska has been recognized among the best in the nation during the fall. The Huskers current class is ranked No. 7 by Hoopscoop.com and No. 11 in the nation by CSTV national analyst Van Coleman (also of Hoopmasters.com). Among the individual players, Steve Harley was rated the No. 5 junior college prospect in the nation by JUCO Junction while Rishawn Norwood was No. 24 on the list of the top 100 junior college prospects. According to NBADraft.net, Norwood is the No. 3 rated junior college shooting guard in the nation while Harley is No. 3 among point guards. Shang Ping was rated No. 6 on the list of small forwards and Alex Chapman received an honorable mention. Norwood (No. 3) and Harley (No. 5) are also among the top five junior college recruits in the country according to Van Coleman, the national basketball analyst for CSTV.com and hoopmasters.com. According to Coleman, Ping gives the Huskers three of the top 30 junior college players. Alex Chapman, 6-9, 225, Canby, Ore. 8 Earning a Bit of History The Huskers came out on the winning end of their first two regular-season games against Nebraska-Omaha and Creighton to help first-year coach Doc Sadler reach his 50th career win in his 68th game as a Division I head coach. With a win over the Mavericks in the opener, Sadler became the first Husker head coach since Joe Cipriano in 1963 to win his first career game as a Husker, something that Moe Iba, Danny Nee and Barry Collier did not do. Sadler earned his 50th career victory at the Division I level against nationally ranked Creighton. With the win, Sadler became the first Nebraska coach since Harry Good in 1946 to start his Husker head coaching career with a 2-0 mark. The Huskers added wins over Lubbock Christian, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and North Texas, helping Sadler become the first Husker mentor to start 5-0 since Paul Schlisser in The record for consecutive wins to open a career at NU is nine by Sam Waugh, whose Cornhusker team opened the season 9-0 before losing. Waugh coached one year at Nebraska and had a 13-1 record in , including a perfect 12-0 record in conference play. Before coming to Nebraska, Sadler posted the seventhhighest win total by a first-year Division I head coach in NCAA history with his teams' 27 victories in and with 48 wins over his first two years, he was just two victories out of the all-time top 10 for coaching wins in the first two seasons at Division I. First-Year NU Head Coaches...Record before first loss Sam Waugh, Paul Schlisser, Doc Sadler, E.O. "Jumbo" Stiehm, T.P. Hewitt, Harry Good, E. Berry, Nebraska Season Openers Nebraska opened its 111th season of basketball with a victory over Nebraska-Omaha. The game marked the earliest regular-season playing date in school history, matching the mark set in 1998 when the Huskers opened the season on Nov. 14 against UNC Greensboro. Before this season, Nebraska is known to have played only seven games before Nov. 20, including two games last season when it played host to the John Thompson Basketball Challenge. Nebraska picked up its sixth straight season-opening victory and ninth in the past 10 years with the win over UNO. The Huskers also extended their streak of victories in home openers to 26 with the win. For (Freshman) Starters While first-year coach Doc Sadler would like to give his younger players time to adjust to the rigors of college basketball, he has had little choice but to start at least two freshmen in 14 games this season, and at least one in every game. Guards Sek Henry and Ryan Anderson started together the first nine games of the year. Jay-R Strowbridge was the third true freshman to earn a start this year as he has started five contests to date. According to official box scores, Henry and Anderson were the first pair of true freshmen to start the season opener for the Huskers since the season when Mark Enright and Ron Taylor also opened the season in the lineup. Henry and Anderson were the third and fourth true freshmen since 2001 to start their first career game at Nebraska, joining Jake Muhleisen (2001) and Marcus Walker (2005). 8 including a season-best ratio of 19 points in 18 minutes against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Overall, Maric has shot better than 70 percent from the floor in four games and at least 60 percent in eight other games. In conference play he has hit 56.6 percent (30-of-53) after struggling against Kansas State, as he hit just 4-of-12 from the floor and was held scoreless in the first half. >>>Back on Track While senior guard Charles Richardson Jr. has been a catalyst for the Husker offense this season, his lone classmate senior guard Marcus Perry is just getting back into action. One of 10 current Huskers to miss practice or playing time with an injury this season, Perry suffered a knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery during the exhibition season. He missed the first three regularseason games before making his season debut against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Nov. 27. He also suffered a stress fracture in his foot that required him to wear a boot when not on the court and still limits his practice time. The team's top long-range threat, Perry got untracked quickly despite the extended injury layoff as he hit nine of his first 17 attempts (52.9 percent) from 3-point range in his first three games back and averaged 10.3 points per game during that span. After a little drought, Perry nearly reached uncharted territory as he hit seven 3-pointers against Miami while scoring a career-high 25 points. He was 7-of-12 from beyond the arc against the Hurricanes, matching the second-best 3-point effort in school single-game history. Perry added five more 3-pointers against Savannah State to give him 12 over two games. He had his third game with at least five treys against Texas when he scored a team-best 17 points. Last year Perry ranked fourth on the team with 31 3-pointers in 32 games while hitting 36.0 percent from beyond the arc. Currently he leads the team with 37 3-pointers while shooting 45.1 percent from long range. >>>Making a Splash After an injury-plagued redshirt freshman year with the Huskers last season, guard Paul Velander looked to be on the same track this year as he had ankle surgery in the offseason and then had a stress fracture in his foot during preseason workouts. After getting back on the court for two games, he suffered a shoulder injury that knocked him out of the rotation for three more contests. But his outlook has changed since his return against Oregon as Velander, a walk-on, has given the Husker offense an unexpected lift with his shooting touch, effort and toughness. In the first extended action of his career against Oregon, Velander drew a foul and forced a turnover on an inbounds during his first play, and then hit a 3-pointer on the ensuing trip down court. Velander added three more treys and finished the day with a career-high 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range and played a careerhigh 20 minutes, double the previous amount of time he had seen on the floor in his career. After struggling a little in the tournament in Hawaii, he got back on track against Miami by hitting 4-of-7 from long range for 12 points off the bench. He added 10 points and a career-high seven rebounds against Savannah State, two more boards than he recorded in the first 10 games of his career combined. Velander has hit 15-of-35 from 3-point range this year, one of seven Huskers with at least 13 treys this year. He has not attempted a field goal from inside the arc in his career. >>>Locking Down Coach Doc Sadler has always had his teams ready to play solid defense for 94 feet, whether on the Division I level or when he was a head coach in the junior college ranks. Sadler's first Husker squad is showing similar traits and improving in that area each game. To date, the Huskers have allowed just 61.2 points per game a mark that ranks fourth in the league only behind Texas A&M (54.5 ppg), Oklahoma (58.1) and Kansas (60.2) entering the week. It makes sense that Nebraska and Texas A&M would be near the top of the defensive statistical categories as the school's head coaches have the same approach to playing the game: play hard and play every foot of the floor on defense. They have a long history together as well, as A&M coach Billy Gillispie hired Sadler at UTEP as an assistant and when Gillispie left to coach the Aggies, Sadler took over as the Miners' head coach. >>>Shutting the Door Nebraska has had a solid offensive performance to open the season as the Huskers rank among the national leaders by hitting 49.2 percent from the floor through their first 19 games. While its defensive effort may have been overshadowed early on, this year's NU squad has already proven to be among the stingiest in recent NU history. The Huskers have allowed more than 62 points only seven times this season. At home, only one team (Western Kentucky) has scored more than 62 points against NU. At their best early in the season, the Huskers held two opponents Lubbock Christian and Arkansas-Pine Bluff to 42 points each in back-to-back games. The two-game stretch marked the first time since 1982 that Nebraska held consecutive opponents to less than 50 points apiece. >>>Heating Up the Floor Entering the season, Nebraska coach Doc Sadler said that he thought the Huskers would be a solid shooting team. Sadler's prediction has been an understatement as the Huskers have connected on 49.2 percent of their shots from the floor, including a solid 38.9 percent from 3-point range, heading into the game with Kansas. The Huskers have hit at least 50 percent from the floor in eight games this season, and better than 48 percent in three other contests. Nebraska hit at least 50 percent from the floor in only five games all of last season. Nebraska opened the season on fire as it shot 59.7 percent (77-of-129) from the field over the first three

9 contests of the season, hitting at least 55.0 percent from the floor in each game. That is the longest stretch a Nebraska squad has hit at least 55.0 percent in each game since the team connected on 55.2, 55.2 and 63.4 percent against Wisconsin, Texas A&M and Eastern Washington, respectively. >>>Maric Earns Big 12 Honors Junior Aleks Maric was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday, Nov. 20, following his performance in the Huskers' first two games of the season. The 6-11, 270-pound center led Nebraska to a 2-0 start by averaging 23.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while hitting 65.5 percent (19-of-29) from the floor. Maric, who returned to the court for the season opener just 11 days after an appendectomy, posted 29 points and 10 rebounds in 29 minutes against Nebraska-Omaha in the Huskers' first regular-season game. He hit 11 field goals on a career-high 18 attempts and missed his second career 30-point contest by just one point. Last year, Maric had 37 points at Iowa State, the fifth-highest single-game mark in program history and the first 30-point game by a Husker since Against No. 20/25 Creighton on Nov. 18, Maric posted 17 points and nine rebounds to lead the Huskers to a 12-point victory. Maric was saddled with foul trouble in the first half, but played 19 minutes in the second period when he recorded 15 points and eight boards. Maric was the first Husker to be named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week since 1999 when Venson Hamilton won it in back-to-back weeks on Jan. 18 and 25. Maric is only the third Husker to earn the conference's top weekly award, joining Hamilton and Tyronn Lue, who won the award three times including twice in Maric earned Big 12 Rookie-of-the-Week honors as a freshman on Feb. 28, He was one of nine Husker newcomers to earn the honor since the formation of the league for the season. >>>More Honors Junior center Aleks Maric was not the only Husker to earn an honor following the first week of the season. On Monday, Nov. 20, Nebraska coach Doc Sadler was tabbed the Coach of the Week on collegeinsider.com's Weekly Honor Roll. The web site said: "Expectations at Nebraska just got a little higher, and credit new coach Doc Sadler. The Huskers finally ended a seven-game losing streak to in-state rival Creighton, surprising the mid-major darlings to open the season 2-0. Nebraska shot 67% from the field, scored on its final 13 possessions of the game, and discovered it has a clutch performer in freshman guard Ryan Anderson (19 points and a key 3 in the final minutes). Yet, it all comes back to Sadler, who came to Lincoln this year after an impressive two-year stint at UTEP. With the win, he has already made a difference, earning some muchneeded positive attention for the basketball team at a traditional football school." >>>More Honors... Part 2 Individual awards have come in bunches for the Huskers this year. Junior center Aleks Maric was the first Husker honored as he was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Nov. 20. Maric followed up with an impressive showing at the Outrigger Rainbow Classic as he helped the Huskers to a third-place finish. Maric averaged 17.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while being named to the alltournament team. He also hit 62.9 percent from the floor and had two 20-point contests as well as a season-high 15 rebounds against Houston. In the first game back from the trip to Hawaii, senior guard Marcus Perry was honored as the player of the game for the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic as he scored a career-high 25 points. Perry hit 8-of-13 from the field, including 7-of-12 from 3-point range, while nearly doubling his previous scoring best. He helped Nebraska to 15 3-pointers on the day, the most ever by a Husker squad away from the Devaney Center. >>>Hot Shots Nebraska scorched the nets in a 12-point victory over nationally ranked Creighton on Nov. 18. The Huskers hit an impressive 67.6 percent (25-of-37) from the floor, their top single-game shooting percentage since hitting 72.3 percent (34-of-47) against UNC-Wilmington nearly nine years ago on Dec. 5, The single-game percentage ranks fifth in the country in the NCAA statistics, but does not top the Big 12 rankings as Oklahoma State has already hit 67.9 percent (36-of-53) against Florida Atlantic to take the top spot in the league. Last year in all of Division I, a 67.6 field-goal percentage for a single game would have ranked sixth nationally on the season. >>>Anderson Steps Up Big for Huskers Freshman guard Ryan Anderson made his presence felt early in the campaign. The Seattle native started the first 11 games of the year before an injury and is second on the team in scoring, rebounding and fieldgoal percentage. He started off in good fashion in the Huskers' first exhibition game, as he hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds remaining to help NU to a victory over Nebraska-Kearney. In his first regular-season game, he posted nine points with a game-high 11 rebounds, becoming the second NU freshman in three years to post double-figure rebounds in his first career game. Anderson came back with an even bigger performance against No. 20/25 Creighton as he led the Huskers in scoring with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting. He hit his first six attempts from the floor and his only miss of the game was a long 3-point attempt in the final 10 seconds of the first half. Against Creighton and Lubbock Christian, Anderson connected on 12-of-14 field-goal attempts to pace the squad. He added a game-high 10 boards vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff, giving him his second double-figure rebounding game of the season. At Rutgers, Anderson tied the school single-game record for 3-point percentage by going 5-for-5 from long Pro Connection Several former members of the Nebraska basketball program are in action this fall playing professionally around the world, including three first-time players from recent NU rosters. Overall, 10 former Huskers are currently playing professionally this season, including three in the National Basketball Association: Tyronn Lue (Atlanta Hawks), Eric Piatkowski (Phoenix Suns) and Mikki Moore (New Jersey Nets). Piatkowski is one of the longest-tenured players in the NBA, as the veteran is in his 13th season this winter. Brian Conklin, a letterwinner from 2001 to 2004, became the most recent addition to the Huskers growing list of professional players. Conklin joined Omniworld Almere in The Netherlands as a professional for the season. Omniworld in the Dutch League is the same club that former Husker John Turek played for last season. Also joining the professional ranks this season are former Huskers Wes Wilkinson and Jason Dourisseau, the co-mvps for last year s 19-win Husker squad that reached the Big 12 Championship semifinals. Wilkinson, who worked out for multiple NBA teams and played in the 2006 Vegas Summer League for the Boston Celtics, joined his new club, Okapi Aalstar, in Belgium in October. Last year, Wilkinson led Nebraska with 11.9 points per game and broke into the Huskers single-season top-10 list with 61 blocked shots. Wilkinson was the only rookie from the United States listed on Aalstar s season-opening roster. Dourisseau began his first professional season playing with EnBW Ludwigsburg in early October. The Omaha native joined the squad in August for training camp and is one of three newcomers from the NCAA ranks, along with Ohio State s Ja Kel Foster and Utah State s Nate Harris. Dourisseau averaged 11.3 points and 7.3 rebounds both second on the team for Nebraska last year. Turek moved to MPC/Capitals Groningen after averaging 17.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.5 steal per game for Omniworld last year. Turek was named to the Dutch League All-Star Game last season. Other former Huskers who are signed to play professionally around the globe this year include Cookie Belcher (Bnei Hasharon-- Israel--Premier League), Andrew Drevo (Nanterre-- France--Pro B), Steffon Bradford (Nanterre--France--Pro B) and Venson Hamilton (Real Madrid--Spain--ACB). Kimani Ffriend, Nate Johnson, Marcus Neal Jr., Tony Farmer and Larry Florence each played professionally as recently as last season, according to eurobasket.com, a top professional basketball web site that tracks international teams. Talk With Doc Nebraska Coach Doc Sadler will meet fans to talk about recent contests and the game plan for upcoming game with a series of four 'Talk with Doc' luncheons. The luncheons began on Nov. 17 when Doc talked about the game against Creighton and continued on Dec. 15 when he talked about the road trek in December. The most recent luncheon was Jan. 19 as he discussed the Huskers' start to the conference season. At times this fall, the Huskers have practiced with only six healthy players who are currently listed on the official roster. From the open tryout, the coaching staff took six players who are working out with the team on a limited basis. Forward Ben Nelson (#35, 6-7, 210, So., Atwater, Minn.) and Choul Laam (#40, 6-5, 230, Sr., Lincoln, Neb.) were the only walk-ons to see action in the exhibition games, while Laam, Nelson and Nick Krenk (#11, 6-0, 170, Nebraska City, Neb.) have dressed and played during the regular season. Krenk and Nelson are the only new walk-ons to travel this season, as both have traveled for each Big 12 game. Nebraska hit 62.2 percent from the floor against Western Kentucky, its second straight and third overall game above 60 percent this season. With a win over North Texas on Nov. 29, Nebraska improved to 5-0 to start the season. The win marked the second time in school history that NU started consecutive seasons with a 5-0 record and the first time in more than 80 years since the and campaigns. Nebraska recorded 15 steals against North Texas, the most by a Husker squad since posting 15 against Oklahoma in NU came back to nearly match the mark with 14 steals against Alabama A&M. Maric has a team-best 143 rebounds this year and 563 career rebounds entering the matchup against Kansas. By posting the same rebound total as he had last year (251), Maric would move into 10th on the Husker career rebounds chart. Entering the season, Maric was just 10 rebounds behind the total Venson Hamilton had at the end of his sophomore season. Hamilton is the only player in NU history to post more than 1,000 career rebounds. Maric moved into the NU career top 10 for blocked shots with four against North Texas. He now owns 77 blocks in his career, good for ninth place on the Husker chart and six behind Cookie Belcher, who sits in eighth place with 83 blocks between 1997 and Nebraska's game against Nebraska-Omaha on Nov. 14 marked the earliest season-opener in program history, tying the mark set in the campaign. Prior to this season, Nebraska had played only four games before Nov. 19, but played twice this year before that date. Charles Richardson Jr. has helped NU to a home record since joining the Huskers for the campaign, including a 5-3 record against ranked teams. Richardson is the Huskers' active leader with 110 career steals and is the first Husker to record 100 career steals since Cary Cochran reached the mark as a senior in

23 Nebraska Game-by-Game Notebook (Games 1-8) GAME 1 vs. Nebraska-Omaha (NU 76, UNO 62) in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska opened the Doc Sadler era with a win over in-state foe Nebraska-Omaha, 76-62, at the Devaney Center. The Huskers sprinted to a deficit and finished the game hitting 56.5 percent from the floor and 72.4 percent (21-of-29) from the free throw line. Junior center Aleks Maric returned to action just 11 days after an appendectomy to pace the Huskers with 29 points in 29 minutes. Maric added a double-double with 10 rebounds while freshman Ryan Anderson just missed one in his first career game as he had nine points and a team-high 11 boards. Jamel White had a solid season-opener as he poured in 18 points, including 8-of-10 at the free throw stripe and was one of three Huskers with four assists. GAME 2 vs. Creighton (NU 73, CU 61) in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers picked up a solid early season victory with a win over No. 20/25 Creighton at a sold out Devaney Center. Playing in front of 13,112 mostly red-clad fans, the Huskers sizzled the nets as they hit 67.6 percent (25-of-37) from the floor, including 76.5 percent (13-of-17) in the second half. Guard Ryan Anderson led the way as he hit his first six attempts from the floor to pace NU with 13 first-half points. Anderson finished by hitting 7-of-8 from the field for a team-high 19 points while center Aleks Maric, who was saddled with foul trouble early in the first half, added 17 points, including 15 in the second period. Jamel White added 13 points and Charles Richardson Jr. had 11 points with a career-high tying nine assists against no turnovers to lead NU to its first regular-season win over CU since It was also NU's first regular-season win over a non-conference team since GAME 3 vs. Lubbock Christian (NU 65, LCU 42) in Lincoln, Neb. Aleks Maric and Ryan Anderson combined to hit 11-of-12 attempts from the floor to lead the Huskers past Lubbock Christian, 65-42, in NU's third straight home contest. Maric was perfect on the night, hitting all six of his shots from the field and one free throw attempt while adding a game-high 13 points to go with six rebounds and three blocked shots. Anderson hit 5-of-6 attempts to score 10 points and was one of four Huskers with at least three assists. Nebraska hit 56.5 percent from the field as a team, the first time the Huskers shot at least 55.0 percent in three straight games since the season. Thirteen players saw action with 10 scoring, including three players who scored their first career points. GAME 4 vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (NU 71, UAPB 42) in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska opened the season with four straight double-figure victories for the first time since , as the Huskers downed UAPB, 71-42, at the Devaney Center. Junior Aleks Maric had an efficient effort as he hit 6-of-10 attempts from the floor and 7-of-10 from the charity stripe to produce 19 points in 18 minutes. Maric added seven boards, one of three Huskers with at least seven rebounds. Freshman Ryan Anderson led the way on the glass, as he had his second double-figure rebounding effort of the year with 10 boards, while Jamel White (7) and Marcus Perry (4) tied their career highs. Perry came off the bench in his season debut to produce 11 points, including a team season-high three 3-pointers, while helping NU run past the Golden Lions. NU hit 44.0 percent from the floor, snapping a streak of three straight games over 56 percent shooting. GAME 5 vs. North Texas (NU 76, UNT 57) in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers opened the game on a 12-0 run, including five points from freshman Ryan Anderson, and cruised to a victory. Anderson and center Aleks Maric started hot and remained that way all game as the duo helped NU hit 52.7 percent from the floor. Anderson finished with 18 points while Maric dominated the paint to produce his second double-double of the year and 15th of his career with 26 points and a season-high 11 rebounds in 26 minutes of action. The Huskers opened a 25-4 lead midway through the first half and cruised to a 19-point halftime lead. UNT never mounted a serious threat as the Huskers' continued to apply defensive pressure, forcing an opponent season high 25 turnovers. Nebraska had a season-high with nine steals in the first period and finished with 15 steals, the most by a Husker squad since Aleks Maric scored a game-high 20 points and Charles Richardson Jr. recorded a career-high 15 assists to help the Huskers hit 59.6 percent from the field. Richardson's assist total was the fourth highest in Big 12 Conference history and three off the school record. Nebraska was outdone, however, as RU hit an opponent season-high 63.6 percent, including nailing 10 3-pointers. Maric was one of three Huskers to foul out but he still posted his third 20-point contest of the year. Freshman Ryan Anderson lit up the scoreboard for 17 points, including hitting all five of his 3-point attempts to tie the school single-game percentage mark. GAME 7 vs. Oregon (UO 68, NU 56) in Portland, Ore. Playing on the road for the second straight weekend, the Huskers came out strong and ran to a quick 12-5 lead, but the Ducks took the upper hand as NU center Aleks Maric got in foul trouble and played just five minutes in the opening period. UO forged a four-point lead at the intermission and surged ahead by 10 early in the second half, but clutch 3-point shooting by Paul Velander and Ryan Anderson got the Huskers back in the game. Velander came off the bench to hit 4-of-5 attempts from long range, including consecutive treys before Anderson's long 3-pointer cut the Ducks' lead to one with 13 minutes to play. After UO went ahead again by eight, Nebraska trimmed the lead one more time, pulling within three points on Marcus Perry's trey with just more than two minutes to play before the Ducks scored the final nine points. Anderson led the way with 15 points while Velander and Maric, who had all five of his baskets after the break, each had 12 points. GAME 8 vs. Alabama A&M (NU 82, AA&M 55) Nebraska returned home for its only game at the Devaney Center in December and ran away with an victory over Alabama A&M. The Huskers came out strong behind their young players, as a pair of freshmen starters Ryan Anderson and Sek Henry combined for 24 first-half points while leading Nebraska to a lead at the intermission. Anderson tied his career high with a game-best 19 points and added three steals in 25 minutes while Henry set a career high with his first double-figure scoring effort of the season with 11 firsthalf points, including the Huskers' first seven points of the game. Nebraska forced AA&M into 24 turnovers, and converted 14 steals into 18 points off turnovers. Sophomores Jamel White and Paul Velander also came off the bench to score 10 points apiece, with White tying his career high with six assists. GAME 6 at Rutgers (RU 75, NU 73) in Piscataway, N.J. Nebraska looked to be in perfect position to grab its first road opener in a decade as it led by four points with 1:04 to play, but Rutgers had other plans in mind as the Scarlet Knights scored the final six points of the game to pull out a victory over the Huskers at the RAC. 24 Nebraska Game-by-Game Notebook (Games 9-15) GAME 9 vs. Wyoming (NU 73, UW 58) Aleks Maric returned to the court to score 22 points in 25 minutes while adding nine rebounds to pace the Huskers to a first-round victory in the Outrigger Rainbow Classic. Maric hit 9- of-14 field-goal attempts as Nebraska won its first game away from the Devaney Center this season. Senior point guard Charles Richardson Jr. scored a season-high 13 points, the second-highest scoring total of his career, while Jay-R Strowbridge made his first career start a memorable one by adding 14 points and eight assists without a turnover. Wyoming kept it close, cutting into the Huskers' double-digit lead to pull within seven before Maric and Strowbridge helped NU to a 10-2 surge and the Cowboys never got closer than eight down the stretch. GAME 10 at Hawaii (UH 81, NU 72) Freshman Ryan Anderson scored a career-high 29 points while helping Nebraska to a furious second-half rally, but it was not enough as the host Rainbow Warriors held on for an victory to advance to the final out of the Outrigger Rainbow Classic. UH built a 20-point halftime lead behind solid shooting while holding the Huskers to just 8-of-31 shooting in the opening 20 minutes. Center Aleks Maric was saddled with two early fouls and played just eight minutes in the opening frame and Coach Doc Sadler received two techincals before being ejected with five minutes left before intermission. UH hit 29-of-39 from the charity stripe as NU was called for a season-high 27 personal fouls, including seven before the Rainbow Warriors were called for one. Anderson scored 19 in the second half as NU cut the lead to single-digits in the final minutes. He hit 7-of-13 from 3-point range, finishing one off the school record. Anderson's 29 points were also one off the Husker single-game freshman record of 30 set by Tyronn Lue in GAME 11 vs. Houston (NU 70, UH 57) Aleks Maric scored 21 points and added a season-high 15 rebounds while Sek Henry recorded a career high with 20 points to pace the Husker offense in a victory over Houston to secure third place in the Outrigger Rainbow Classic. The Husker defensive effort was even more spectacular as the Huskers held Houston to just one basket over the first 16:08 of the second half while limiting UH to hust 17 percent shooting in the second period. Nebraska trailed midway through the first half but Maric carried the Huskers to the intermission, where NU trailed by just five. The big man then helped the Huskers to a 16-0 second-half run that put the game out of reach as Nebraska outscored the Cougars after the break. It was Maric's third double-double of the season and the second 20-plus point effort of the week to help him earn all-tournament team honors. GAME 12 vs. Miami (NU 82, UM 67) Marcus Perry led a Husker 3-point assault as he scored a career-high 25 points on 7-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc to help the Huskers pull away for an victory over Miami in the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic. Perry finished one shy of the school single game record for 3-pointers while nearly doubling his previous career scoring best. He helped Nebraska hit 15-of-33 from long range, including a pair of treys during a crucial 13-0 second-half run to separate from the Hurricanes. In a game that included 10 lead changes and eight ties, the Huskers used strong outside shooting and a dominant advantage at the line to even their record at 3-3 in non-conference play away from home. NU hit 21-of-26 from the stripe, including 17-of-21 in the second half, while UM went to the line just 12 times, making nine. Aleks Maric added 10-of-12 from the line and finished with 18 points while Paul Velander had four 3-pointers for 12 points off the bench. GAME 14 vs. Western Kentucky (NU 82, WKU 71) Jamel White had his best game of the non-conference season on both offense and defense to lead the Huskers to an victory over Western Kentucky. White poured in 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting while hitting all seven attempts from the free throw stripe to help the Huskers finish the non-league slate with an impressive 11-3 record, including an 8-0 mark at home. White, who held NBA prospect Courtney Lee to 11 points with a stellar defensive performance, was joined in the offensive charge by Charles Richardson Jr., who posted a career-best 16 points. Aleks Maric, who had his toughest test in the paint during the nonconference schedule, also finished with 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting while hitting 6-of-9 at the charity stripe. Nebraska hit 62.2 percent from the floor, its second straight game connecting on at least 60 percent from the field and third of the season. NU also equalled its season high for points, topping the 80-point plateau for the third straight game, matching the longest by the Huskers since GAME 15 at Iowa State (ISU 71, NU 62) Iowa State used a 13-5 run to open the second half to charge ahead and an 8-0 run to stay there as Nebraska dropped its Big 12 opener in Ames. The Huskers forged a halftime lead but ISU's top scorer, Mike Taylor, recorded three 3-pointers in the opening run to push the Cyclones ahead for good. Nebraska pulled within two on two occassions, the last with just under four minutes to play on a pair of Sek Henry free throws. ISU answered with Jiri Hubalek's conventional three-point play seconds later, including one of only three Cyclone field goals in the final 9:39. Aleks Maric led the Huskers with 20 points and 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the year, while Jamel White and Charles Richardson Jr. each added 11 points. The Huskers shot 44 percent, their second-lowest shooting percentage of the season after being held to 37 percent in the second frame. GAME 13 vs. Savannah State (NU 81, SSU 53) Sek Henry led a strong offensive effort as he hit all seven of his attempts from the floor to lead five Huskers in double figures with a game-high 18 points as Nebraska overcame a sluggish start to run past Savannah State. Playing only their second home game in 34 days, the Huskers hit 61.2 percent from the field, including a sizzling 68.2 percent after the intermission. Henry scored 18 points and Marcus Perry came off the bench to post 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including hitting 5-of-7 from 3-point range. Jamel White and Aleks Maric each added 14 points while Paul Velander added a second double-figure scorer off the bench with 10 points and seven rebounds, two more than his career total entering the game. 25 Nebraska Game-by-Game Notebook (Games 16-19) GAME 16 at Oklahoma (OU 70, NU 53) After having its previous game against Oklahoma State (Jan. 13) postponed because of winter weather conditions in Oklahoma, the Huskers got back into the swing of things as they traveled to the Sooner State for a matchup with Oklahoma on Jan. 17. The Sooners held Nebraska to its lowest field-goal percentage of the season and used a 13-0 run midway through the second period to pull away for a victory. OU's defense harassed the Huskers into 34.9 percent shooting while allowing NU to hit a season-low 15 field goals (43 attempts). Marcus Perry kept the Huskers in it until early in the second half as he had 11 points in the first period and added his fourth 3-pointer early after the intermission before OU pulled away. Perry led Nebraska with 14 points while Charles Richardson Jr. had nine points and three other Huskers had eight. Oklahoma also limited the Huskers' second-chance points as it held a edge on the glass, including a dominating 11-2 margin on the offensive boards. GAME 17 vs. Colorado (NU 71, CU 50) Nebraska used a stellar defensive performance and received 28 points from Aleks Maric and 18 from Jamel White as the Huskers ran past Colorado, 71-50, at the Devaney Center in NU's Big 12 home opener. Maric hit 10-of-12 shots from the floor and White had one of his best offensive nights of the year as Nebraska hit 50.0 percent from the floor while picking up its first league victory under Coach Doc Sadler. The Huskers ran to a quick 10-0 lead and forced the Buffs into turnovers on each of their first six possessions before posting a halftime lead. The point total was the lowest in one half for any conference foe in the 31-year history of the Devaney Center. NU continued its strong play in the second half as Maric dominated the paint and White locked down on CU's all-conference guard, Richard Roby, who had a career low with one point while failing to connect on a field-goal attempt (0-of-5) for the first time in his career. GAME 18 vs. Texas (UT 62, NU 61) Jamel White's one-handed runner while driving the baseline bounced long off the rim as Texas held on for a victory over the Huskers, handing Nebraska its first loss of the season at the Devaney Center. Nebraska trailed by three at the intermission after Texas' Justin Mason got a floater to drop in at the buzzer, but the Huskers rallied late in the second half to have a chance for the win. NU trailed by eight points with 10:38 left to play, but held UT freshman star Kevin Durant scoreless over the final 11 minutes while chipping away at the Longhorn lead. Aleks Maric, who finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season, combined with Ryan Anderson for the team's last nine points, including a 3-pointer by Anderson with 4:22 remaining that gave NU its only lead, 57-56, of the second half. A.J. Abrams answered with trey of his own on the next possession and Maric tied the game with a basket at the 3:23 mark. Mason then hit another 3-pointer and Anderson countered with a basket with 1:46 to play before Texas held off White's last attempt. GAME 19 at Kansas State (KSU 61, NU 45) Nebraska held Kansas State to an opponent season low 32.6 percent shooting, but the effort wasn't enough as Kansas State pulled away in the second half at the free throw line to secure a victory over the Huskers in Bramlage Coliseum. NU made four more field goals and also had fewer turnovers than the Wildcats while holding KSU to just 36.7 percent shooting from the floor in the defensive struggle. Kansas State, however, went to the line 20 more times than the Huskers and hit 21-of-26 in the second half to grab the victory and keep NU winless in five true road games.
